grapple_v withal_o and_o which_o thou_o can_v not_o get_v the_o victory_n over_o the_o way_n be_v to_o go_v and_o increase_v faith_n to_o increase_v assurance_n for_o the_o more_o faith_n be_v increase_v the_o more_o love_n the_o more_o the_o heart_n be_v incline_v to_o god_n for_o faith_n turn_v the_o bend_v of_o the_o heart_n from_o pleasure_n and_o profit_n from_o a_o desire_n of_o the_o praise_n of_o man_n to_o god_n so_o that_o the_o more_o faith_n the_o more_o ability_n there_o be_v to_o strive_v against_o the_o corruption_n that_o be_v in_o you_o grace_n again_o if_o a_o man_n find_v he_o want_v patience_n he_o want_v thankfulness_n the_o way_n be_v not_o to_o look_v on_o the_o virtue_n to_o read_v moral_a writer_n but_o go_v and_o strengthen_v thy_o faith_n and_o that_o your_o main_a business_n be_v to_o consider_v whether_o you_o have_v faith_n to_o get_v assurance_n of_o that_o and_o when_o you_o have_v that_o then_o strive_v against_o particular_a vice_n and_o adorn_v yourselves_o with_o particular_a grace_n for_o because_o you_o labour_v not_o to_o have_v this_o main_a grace_n this_o root_n and_o foundation_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n i_o say_v this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o those_o good_a motion_n that_o you_o have_v put_v into_o you_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n those_o motion_n that_o you_o have_v in_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o good_a purpose_n that_o you_o take_v to_o yourselves_o come_v to_o nothing_o because_o they_o have_v not_o faith_n for_o their_o ground_n that_o general_a of_o faith_n simile_n must_v go_v before_o the_o ground_n be_v flesh_n and_o the_o work_n spiritual_a how_o can_v it_o live_v simile_n for_o every_o thing_n live_v in_o its_o own_o element_n and_o these_o motion_n in_o they_o be_v as_o the_o fish_n be_v out_o of_o the_o water_n and_o as_o the_o fire_n when_o it_o be_v out_o of_o its_o place_n die_v and_o be_v extinguish_v so_o these_o good_a purpose_n when_o they_o be_v not_o particular_n that_o arise_v from_o that_o general_a of_o faith_n they_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n as_o a_o thing_n out_o of_o its_o own_o element_n and_o therefore_o they_o perish_v therefore_o when_o you_o have_v these_o purpose_n know_v that_o they_o will_v come_v to_o nothing_o if_o you_o take_v not_o the_o right_a course_n therefore_o labour_v to_o believe_v the_o promise_n to_o be_v assure_v of_o salvation_n that_o you_o be_v translate_v from_o death_n to_o life_n by_o a_o effectual_a faith_n when_o this_o be_v do_v you_o shall_v find_v that_o your_o purpose_n will_v hold_v and_o till_o than_o they_o be_v in_o vain_a search_n and_o so_o again_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o see_v all_o depend_v upon_o faith_n when_o we_o come_v to_o search_v to_o consider_v what_o assurance_n we_o have_v the_o give_v up_o of_o a_o man_n self_n to_o christ_n and_o make_v a_o public_a testimony_n of_o it_o although_o there_o be_v something_o more_o mean_v general_o by_o baptise_v but_o here_o it_o be_v mean_v a_o justification_n to_o all_o the_o world_n that_o we_o have_v take_v christ_n now_o every_o one_o that_o will_v believe_v and_o be_v baptize_v that_o be_v every_o one_o that_o will_v do_v this_o shall_v be_v save_v so_o that_o a_o man_n must_v first_o take_v christ_n himself_o and_o then_o he_o may_v do_v as_o the_o wife_n after_o she_o have_v her_o husband_n she_o may_v think_v of_o all_o the_o benefit_n she_o have_v by_o he_o and_o may_v take_v they_o and_o use_v they_o as_o her_o own_o this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n the_o second_o thing_n that_o i_o promise_v faith_n be_v to_o show_v you_o the_o subject_n of_o faith_n and_o that_o be_v the_o whole_a heart_n of_o man_n that_o be_v to_o say_v to_o name_v it_o distinct_o both_o the_o mind_n and_o the_o will_v now_o to_o show_v you_o that_o both_o these_o be_v the_o subject_n of_o faith_n you_o must_v know_v that_o these_o two_o thing_n be_v require_v first_o understanding_n on_o the_o part_n of_o the_o understanding_n it_o be_v require_v that_o it_o believe_v that_o be_v that_o it_o conceive_v and_o apprehend_v what_o god_n have_v reveal_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o here_o a_o act_n of_o god_n must_v come_v in_o put_v a_o light_n into_o the_o understanding_n for_o my_o belove_a faith_n be_v but_o a_o addition_n of_o a_o new_a light_n to_o reason_n that_o whereas_o reason_n be_v purblind_a faith_n come_v and_o give_v a_o new_a light_n and_o make_v we_o see_v the_o thing_n reveal_v by_o god_n which_o reason_n can_v do_v by_o faith_n we_o apprehend_v these_o great_a and_o glorious_a mystery_n which_o otherwise_o we_o can_v not_o apprehend_v as_o we_o see_v it_o express_v in_o 2_o cor._n 4._o 4._o the_o god_n of_o this_o world_n have_v blind_v their_o eye_n that_o the_o light_n shall_v not_o shine_v into_o their_o heart_n by_o which_o they_o shall_v believe_v this_o glorious_a gospel_n so_o then_o there_o must_v be_v a_o light_n put_v into_o the_o mind_n that_o a_o man_n may_v be_v able_a by_o that_o to_o elevate_v and_o raise_v his_o reason_n to_o believe_v this_o that_o be_v to_o conceive_v and_o to_o apprehend_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v offer_v and_o tender_v in_o the_o gospel_n will_n but_o this_o be_v not_o all_o there_o be_v a_o act_n also_o of_o the_o will_v require_v which_o be_v to_o take_v and_o receive_v christ_n for_o this_o take_n be_v a_o act_n of_o it_o you_o may_v see_v what_o faith_n be_v in_o those_o word_n those_o that_o receive_v the_o gift_n of_o righteousness_n righteousness_n be_v give_v and_o offer_v by_o god_n and_o those_o that_o receive_v that_o gift_n of_o righteousness_n shall_v reign_v in_o life_n so_o that_o take_v and_o receive_v be_v a_o act_n of_o the_o will_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o the_o will_n must_v come_v in_o to_o this_o work_n as_o well_o as_o the_o understanding_n like_o unto_o this_o be_v that_o 1_o joh._n 12._o 1.12_o to_o as_o many_o as_o receive_v he_o etc._n etc._n that_o be_v to_o as_o many_o as_o believe_v in_o his_o name_n for_o so_o the_o word_n afterward_o express_v that_o be_v when_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o take_v christ_n which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o will_n when_o the_o will_n be_v resolve_v to_o take_v he_o be_v so_o apprehend_v as_o he_o have_v be_v describe_v as_o a_o lord_n and_o as_o a_o saviour_n this_o be_v faith_n this_o i_o say_v be_v a_o act_n of_o the_o will_n because_o it_o be_v a_o act_n of_o receive_v joâ—_a 5.44_o it_o be_v evident_a how_o can_v that_o believe_v which_o receive_v honour_v one_o of_o another_o &_o c_o if_o believe_v in_o christ_n be_v only_o a_o act_n of_o the_o mind_n as_o the_o papist_n affirm_v and_o some_o other_o beside_o it_o believe_v be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o assent_v to_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n which_o be_v a_o act_n of_o the_o understanding_n how_o can_v the_o praise_n of_o man_n be_v opposite_a to_o believe_v but_o the_o meaning_n be_v how_o can_v you_o believe_v &_o take_v i_o for_o your_o husband_n and_o yet_o seek_v praise_n of_o man_n too_o for_o that_o will_v come_v in_o competition_n with_o i_o and_o then_o you_o will_v forsake_v i_o i_o say_v this_o make_v it_o evident_a that_o justify_v faith_n be_v not_o only_o a_o act_n of_o the_o mind_n but_o a_o act_n of_o the_o will_v also_o because_o otherwise_o the_o seek_v praise_n with_o man_n can_v be_v no_o impediment_n to_o the_o act_n of_o believe_v now_o this_o also_o god_n aswell_o as_o the_o former_a must_v be_v wrought_v by_o god_n and_o god_n put_v a_o new_a light_n into_o the_o understanding_n he_o raise_v it_o up_o to_o see_v and_o believe_v these_o truth_n so_o there_o be_v another_o act_n which_o god_n also_o work_v on_o the_o will_n and_o unless_o he_o work_v it_o it_o be_v not_o do_v condition_n that_o we_o have_v name_v man_n refuse_v he_o they_o reject_v he_o and_o slight_v he_o but_o when_o god_n take_v away_o these_o wolvish_a and_o swinish_a heart_n of_o we_o and_o turn_v our_o will_n another_o way_n which_o be_v the_o draw_v the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o than_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o take_v christ._n if_o you_o take_v other_o metal_n than_o iron_n the_o loadstone_n will_v not_o stir_v it_o but_o turn_v the_o metal_n into_o iron_n and_o it_o will_v follow_v the_o loadstone_n so_o let_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n continue_v in_o that_o condition_n wherein_o they_o be_v by_o nature_n and_o they_o will_v never_o take_v christ_n they_o will_v never_o accept_v he_o but_o when_o god_n put_v into_o they_o such_o a_o strong_a and_o impetuous_a instigation_n and_o disposition_n as_o that_o of_o the_o spouse_n in_o the_o canticle_n that_o have_v no_o rest_n till_o she_o have_v find_v her_o belove_a than_o they_o will_v take_v christ_n upon_o his_o own_o that_o which_o our_o saviour_n christ_n call_v draw_v none_o come_v to_o i_o unless_o the_o father_n draw_v he_o that_o be_v except_z his_o will_v be_v set_v on_o work_n unless_o god_n change_v he_o and_o put_v such_o a_o disposition_n and_o instigation_n into_o he_o that_o he_o can_v find_v no_o rest_n till_o he_o come_v to_o christ._n three_o justify_v the_o thing_n we_o be_v to_o speak_v of_o nature_n for_o when_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v wrought_v upon_o the_o will_n draw_v and_o have_v turn_v that_o than_o a_o man_n come_v upon_o his_o own_o leg_n and_o be_v move_v from_o a_o inward_a principle_n of_o his_o own_o therefore_o man_n be_v so_o draw_v that_o withal_o they_o run_v after_o he_o as_o it_o be_v cant._n 1._o 1.4_o but_o it_o show_v this_o thing_n for_o which_o i_o have_v use_v it_o that_o there_o be_v a_o wondrous_a backwardness_n in_o all_o of_o we_o by_o nature_n and_o that_o this_o must_v be_v do_v by_o a_o great_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n
the_o like_a that_o these_o be_v the_o only_a and_o the_o most_o glorious_a action_n they_o be_v exceed_o wide_a what_o good_a action_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n the_o fruit_n of_o every_o tree_n in_o the_o orchard_n be_v but_o as_o the_o action_n of_o every_o man_n and_o then_o be_v the_o tree_n good_a to_o the_o husbandman_n when_o they_o be_v full_a of_o fruit_n every_o action_n that_o you_o do_v be_v that_o fruit_n which_o god_n look_v for_o now_o that_o fruit_n be_v good_a work_n that_o be_v please_v to_o the_o gardener_n to_o the_o husbandman_n therefore_o to_o do_v the_o lord_n will_v be_v to_o do_v a_o good_a work_n now_o by_o this_o you_o may_v see_v what_o a_o large_a field_n you_o have_v for_o good_a work_n in_o what_o call_v soever_o you_o be_v set_v though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o mean_a a_o place_n you_o have_v to_o suffer_v imprisonment_n and_o disgrace_n for_o good_a cause_n suffer_v this_o be_v a_o good_a work_n for_o it_o be_v a_o great_a work_n to_o suffer_v and_o in_o that_o you_o do_v the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n sickness_n when_o a_o man_n be_v sick_a and_o lie_v in_o his_o chamber_n upon_o his_o bed_n sick_a of_o a_o consumption_n or_o a_o fever_n that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o stir_v yet_o to_o do_v this_o with_o obedience_n to_o submit_v then_o to_o the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v a_o good_a work_n for_o to_o bear_v a_o burden_n be_v a_o work_n to_o bear_v sickness_n and_o calamity_n after_o this_o manner_n be_v a_o work_n to_o think_v the_o lord_n have_v put_v i_o into_o this_o condition_n he_o may_v have_v give_v i_o strength_n to_o go_v abroad_o as_o other_o do_v but_o he_o have_v lay_v sickness_n upon_o i_o i_o say_v the_o right_n bear_v this_o burden_n be_v a_o good_a work_n again_o lust_n to_o take_v pain_n with_o our_o heart_n to_o master_v our_o unruly_a lust_n and_o affection_n be_v a_o good_a work_n do_v not_o you_o reckon_v it_o a_o work_n to_o break_v horse_n to_o master_n colt_n it_o be_v the_o trade_n of_o some_o man_n to_o do_v so_o and_o be_v it_o not_o a_o good_a work_n for_o you_o to_o get_v victory_n over_o your_o lust_n to_o tame_v your_o unbridled_a nature_n to_o curb_v your_o unruly_a heart_n and_o affection_n in_o all_o the_o variety_n of_o occasion_n that_o you_o pass_v through_o it_o be_v a_o work_n to_o behave_v ourselves_o as_o become_v christian_n decent_o and_o comely_a and_o holy_o in_o poverty_n in_o riches_n in_o honour_n and_o disgrace_n to_o behave_v ourselves_o under_o these_o thing_n in_o a_o right_a manner_n to_o carry_v ourselves_o patient_o and_o holy_o through_o they_o as_o become_v good_a christian_n this_o be_v a_o good_a work_n and_o this_o belong_v to_o every_o one_o though_o his_o call_n be_v never_o so_o mean_a when_o paul_n stand_v at_o the_o bar_n and_o festus_n revile_v he_o and_o say_v he_o be_v a_o mad_a fellow_n the_o suffering_n of_o this_o be_v a_o work_n in_o paul_n mark_v his_o manner_n of_o carriage_n in_o it_o i_o be_o not_o mad_a most_o noble_a festus_n there_o be_v a_o work_n in_o that_o so_o i_o may_v instance_n in_o the_o thing_n wherein_o you_o may_v seem_v to_o do_v the_o least_o the_o stand_v still_o in_o some_o case_n be_v a_o work_n the_o apostle_n make_v among_o the_o great_a work_n that_o be_v to_o be_v do_v by_o christian_n this_o to_o be_v the_o chief_a to_o keep_v ourselves_o pure_a and_o unspotted_a of_o the_o world_n to_o pass_v through_o all_o occasion_n &_o to_o be_v never_o the_o worse_o for_o they_o to_o go_v through_o all_o defilement_n of_o this_o present_a life_n &_o not_o be_v taint_v and_o if_o this_o be_v a_o work_n how_o much_o more_o be_v it_o then_o to_o be_v still_o do_v to_o be_v in_o act_n and_o operation_n always_o therefore_o do_v not_o say_v you_o want_v when_o you_o shall_v always_o have_v occasion_n enough_o of_o that_o but_o you_o will_v say_v quest._n these_o general_n be_v good_a to_o exhort_v we_o to_o be_v do_v but_o yet_o in_o particular_a what_o will_v you_o have_v we_o to_o do_v now_o i_o will_v instance_n in_o some_o few_o thing_n answ._n there_o be_v certain_a time_n of_o work_v season_n as_o husbandman_n some_o time_n they_o have_v time_n of_o harvest_n and_o some_o time_n they_o have_v seed_n time_n wherein_o it_o be_v require_v that_o they_o work_v more_o than_o at_o other_o time_n so_o the_o church_n of_o god_n have_v time_n and_o season_n and_o the_o common_a wealth_n have_v some_o season_n and_o time_n when_o man_n shall_v be_v set_v a-work_o to_o do_v more_o than_o ordinary_a to_o do_v more_o than_o at_o other_o time_n and_o you_o all_o know_v this_o be_v such_o a_o season_n wherein_o there_o shall_v be_v work_v of_o every_o one_o in_o their_o several_a place_n i_o say_v it_o be_v time_n now_o for_o man_n to_o be_v work_v more_o than_o ordinary_a but_o you_o will_v say_v quest._n what_o be_v it_o you_o will_v have_v we_o to_o do_v my_o brethren_n answ._n contend_v for_o the_o faith_n once_o deliver_v to_o the_o saint_n time_n mark_v it_o the_o work_n must_v be_v to_o contend_v for_o it_o you_o must_v be_v man_n of_o contention_n let_v the_o world_n say_v what_o they_o will_v of_o you_o faith_n it_o be_v a_o duty_n that_o lie_v on_o you_o it_o be_v that_o which_o the_o spirit_n call_v for_o from_o you_o that_o you_o be_v man_n that_o shall_v contend_v you_o must_v not_o do_v it_o cold_o and_o remisse_o but_o earnest_o to_o strive_v for_o it_o let_v not_o pretence_n of_o indiscretion_n hinder_v you_o so_o again_o let_v we_o not_o say_v we_o must_v be_v moderate_a for_o what_o be_v that_o moderation_n indeed_o the_o moderation_n that_o keep_v from_o action_n moderation_n wherein_o be_v excess_n be_v good_a but_o if_o you_o mean_v by_o moderation_n to_o go_v a_o slow_a and_o easy_a pace_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n that_o be_v coldness_n idleness_n carelessness_n there_o be_v no_o excess_n in_o any_o good_a way_n therefore_o that_o be_v your_o work_n now_o to_o contend_v for_o the_o faith_n that_o be_v for_o all_o the_o point_n of_o faith_n for_o every_o jott_n of_o that_o be_v precious_a deliver_v say_v the_o apostle_n jude_n it_o be_v but_o once_o deliver_v to_o the_o saint_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v it_o be_v too_o precious_a a_o treasure_n oft_o to_o be_v despence_v it_o be_v but_o once_o deliver_v to_o the_o world_n if_o christ_n do_v mean_a to_o come_v again_o and_o renew_v the_o article_n of_o our_o faith_n we_o may_v be_v more_o remiss_a and_o negligent_a for_o if_o we_o do_v loose_v they_o he_o may_v restore_v they_o again_o but_o they_o be_v but_o once_o deliver_v therefore_o your_o care_n must_v be_v to_o keep_v they_o the_o better_a beside_o it_o be_v the_o common_a faith_n therefore_o every_o man_n have_v interest_n in_o it_o faith_n do_v not_o say_v therefore_o what_o have_v i_o to_o do_v it_o belong_v to_o these_o and_o these_o man_n to_o look_v after_o it_o it_o be_v the_o common_a faith_n and_o every_o man_n have_v part_n in_o it_o and_o shall_v contend_v according_a to_o his_o place_n and_o power_n and_o within_o his_o spheere_n and_o remember_v it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o much_o moment_n for_o every_o part_n of_o the_o faith_n or_o little_a matter_n of_o faith_n i_o speak_v now_o of_o the_o whole_a doctrine_n of_o faith_n that_o you_o shall_v be_v exceed_o exact_a in_o keep_v of_o it_o that_o it_o receive_v no_o detriment_n especial_o in_o matter_n of_o opinion_n practice_n for_o my_o brethren_n you_o must_v know_v that_o it_o be_v better_a there_o shall_v be_v great_a offence_n commit_v in_o the_o land_n great_a and_o notorious_a crime_n then_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o loss_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o faith_n because_o where_o the_o opinion_n of_o man_n be_v set_v wrong_a that_o be_v a_o principle_n that_o carry_v they_o still_o on_o great_a fin_n come_v from_o great_a passion_n and_o man_n be_v able_a to_o see_v they_o and_o when_o the_o passion_n be_v go_v over_o slip_v they_o be_v easy_o recall_v again_o but_o error_n in_o opinion_n be_v matter_n of_o great_a moment_n therefore_o it_o belong_v to_o every_o one_o to_o look_v to_o it_o to_o we_o that_o be_v preacher_n in_o our_o place_n to_o magistrate_n
sense_n it_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o justification_n it_o justify_v we_o as_o it_o be_v a_o instrument_n sin_n and_o that_o not_o by_o alter_v the_o nature_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v by_o make_v sin_n to_o be_v no_o sin_n but_o by_o take_v away_o the_o efficacy_n of_o sin_n note_n as_o for_o example_n when_o a_o man_n have_v commit_v sin_n faith_n do_v not_o make_v his_o sin_n to_o be_v no_o sin_n indeed_o it_o scatter_v they_o as_o a_o cloud_n you_o may_v consider_v it_o after_o this_o manner_n first_o it_o can_v be_v that_o that_o sin_n that_o be_v once_o commit_v shall_v be_v make_v to_o be_v no_o sin_n for_o what_o be_v once_o do_v it_o can_v be_v undo_v god_n himself_o can_v do_v that_o because_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o can_v be_v for_o when_o the_o sin_n be_v commit_v they_o do_v remain_v so_o and_o therefore_o i_o say_v it_o can_v be_v that_o that_o which_o be_v sin_n shall_v be_v make_v to_o be_v no_o sin_n we_o can_v make_v adultery_n to_o be_v no_o adultery_n for_o the_o nature_n and_o essence_n of_o the_o thing_n must_v remain_v well_o now_o what_o do_v faith_n it_o do_v this_o though_o the_o sin_n be_v the_o same_o that_o it_o be_v yet_o it_o take_v away_o the_o sting_n and_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n by_o which_o it_o put_v we_o into_o the_o state_n of_o condemnation_n and_o by_o which_o it_o bind_v we_o over_o to_o punishment_n as_o the_o lion_n to_o which_o daniel_n be_v cast_v they_o be_v the_o same_o as_o they_o be_v before_o they_o have_v the_o same_o propensenesse_n and_o disposition_n to_o devour_v as_o they_o have_v before_o they_o have_v the_o ordinary_a nature_n of_o lion_n but_o at_o that_o time_n god_n take_v away_o from_o they_o that_o fierceness_n that_o be_v in_o they_o so_o that_o they_o do_v not_o devour_v he_o away_o it_o hurt_v we_o not_o it_o condemn_v we_o not_o thus_o faith_n by_o take_v away_o the_o efficacy_n and_o power_n of_o sin_n it_o justify_v we_o as_o a_o instrument_n as_o a_o hand_n that_o take_v the_o pardon_n the_o king_n when_o he_o pardon_v a_o traitor_n he_o do_v not_o make_v his_o treason_n to_o be_v no_o treason_n for_o the_o act_n of_o the_o treason_n remain_v still_o but_o the_o take_n of_o the_o pardon_n make_v the_o traitor_n not_o to_o be_v under_o condemnation_n so_o my_o beloved_a faith_n be_v that_o act_n that_o take_v the_o pardon_n from_o god_n so_o that_o though_o the_o sin_n remain_v the_o same_o and_o of_o its_o own_o nature_n be_v of_o power_n to_o bind_v we_o over_o to_o death_n yet_o by_o this_o faith_n take_v the_o pardon_n from_o god_n it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o it_o hurt_v we_o not_o we_o be_v not_o condemn_v for_o it_o you_o know_v debt_n in_o a_o man_n book_n the_o writing_n remain_v still_o the_o line_n be_v not_o blot_v out_o yet_o when_o they_o be_v once_o cross_v the_o creditor_n can_v come_v and_o ask_v his_o debt_n any_o more_o because_o it_o be_v cross_v so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o our_o sin_n be_v the_o same_o after_o we_o be_v justify_v as_o they_o be_v before_o but_o faith_n be_v that_o that_o cross_v the_o book_n faith_n i_o say_v by_o apprehend_v the_o pardon_n and_o take_v the_o acquittance_n at_o god_n hand_n that_o he_o offer_v iâ—_n a_o man_n have_v anacquittance_n although_o the_o debt_n remain_v the_o same_o in_o the_o book_n yet_o there_o can_v no_o more_o be_v require_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o he_o through_o christ._n faith_n let_v i_o add_v one_o word_n more_o of_o the_o next_o thing_n which_o be_v what_o be_v the_o act_n of_o this_o faith_n they_o be_v these_o three_o first_o to_o reconcile_v or_o to_o justify_v second_o to_o pacify_v the_o heart_n three_o to_o purify_v or_o sanctify_v us._n the_o first_o thing_n that_o faith_n do_v be_v to_o reconcile_v that_o be_v as_o i_o say_v before_o by_o faith_n we_o be_v pitch_v upon_o christ_n we_o take_v he_o first_o and_o then_o we_o take_v the_o privilege_n they_o all_o follow_v upon_o it_o forgiveness_n and_o adoption_n this_o be_v the_o first_o act_n of_o faith_n to_o reconcile_v we_o to_o christ_n himself_o and_o upon_o this_o we_o have_v boldness_n to_o go_v to_o christ_n for_o forgiveness_n to_o go_v to_o christ_n to_o make_v we_o heir_n of_o all_o thing_n for_o after_o this_o manner_n faith_n do_v it_o all_o thing_n be_v you_o whether_o paul_n or_o apollo_n etc._n etc._n and_o why_o because_o you_o be_v christ_n mark_v it_o you_o must_v first_o be_v christ_n that_o be_v even_o as_o the_o wife_n be_v the_o husband_n be_v so_o you_o must_v be_v knit_v and_o unite_v to_o christ_n and_o then_o all_o thing_n be_v you_o so_o that_o faith_n first_o make_v we_o christ_n it_o reconcile_v we_o to_o he_o and_o make_v we_o one_o with_o he_o and_o in_o he_o one_o with_o god_n the_o father_n and_o then_o all_o thing_n be_v give_v unto_o we_o and_o make_v we_o heart_n the_o second_o act_n of_o faith_n be_v to_o quiet_a and_o pacify_v the_o heart_n to_o comfort_v we_o in_o assure_v we_o that_o our_o sin_n and_o transgression_n be_v forgive_v and_o this_o be_v different_a from_o the_o former_a there_o be_v two_o act_n of_o faith_n the_o one_o be_v the_o direct_a act_n by_o which_o we_o apprehend_v and_o take_v christ_n faith_n and_o the_o righteousness_n that_o be_v offer_v through_o he_o by_o which_o we_o take_v forgiveness_n and_o the_o second_o be_v the_o reflect_v act_n by_o which_o we_o know_v that_o we_o have_v take_v christ_n and_o have_v take_v out_o our_o pardon_n and_o this_o act_n be_v very_o different_a from_o the_o former_a we_o may_v have_v the_o former_a without_o this_o we_o common_o think_v that_o we_o be_v not_o justify_v by_o christ_n unless_o we_o have_v assurance_n of_o it_o and_o when_o we_o look_v for_o that_o and_o find_v it_o not_o present_o all_o our_o hope_n be_v go_v but_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o it_o be_v one_o act_n of_o faith_n to_o take_v christ_n and_o another_o act_n of_o faith_n to_o comfort_n and_o pacify_v the_o heart_n and_o that_o these_o be_v two_o distinct_a thing_n consider_v but_o this_o in_o a_o word_n the_o first_o act_n be_v constant_a they_o when_o a_o man_n have_v once_o take_v and_o accept_v of_o christ_n he_o be_v always_o he_o after_o we_o once_o have_v christ_n there_o be_v no_o divorce_n but_o the_o other_o act_n of_o assurance_n whereby_o we_o know_v that_o we_o have_v take_v he_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o may_v fail_v and_o deceive_v a_o man_n again_o the_o first_o act_n admit_v of_o no_o degree_n for_o when_o a_o man_n be_v once_o in_o christ_n he_o be_v always_o christ_n when_o he_o be_v once_o marry_v to_o he_o marriage_n you_o know_v admit_v of_o no_o degree_n so_o justification_n be_v equal_a to_o every_o man_n it_o admit_v of_o no_o degree_n it_o be_v always_o the_o same_o we_o be_v not_o now_o less_o justify_v and_o then_o more_o but_o we_o be_v always_o alike_o justify_v be_v once_o justify_v but_o the_o other_o act_n of_o faith_n whereby_o i_o be_o assure_v that_o i_o have_v take_v christ_n that_o admit_v of_o degree_n a_o man_n may_v have_v sometime_o more_o comfort_n sometime_o less_o and_o therefore_o righteousness_n be_v say_v here_o to_o be_v reveal_v from_o faith_n to_o faith_n last_o the_o first_o act_n of_o faith_n whereby_o we_o take_v christ_n and_o those_o privilege_n by_o he_o as_o the_o wife_n take_v the_o husband_n that_o be_v found_v upon_o the_o sure_a word_n of_o god_n god_n have_v tender_v it_o to_o we_o upon_o his_o word_n and_o promise_n and_o he_o must_v perform_v it_o it_o can_v be_v alter_v nor_o change_v he_o that_o build_v upon_o it_o build_v upon_o the_o cornerstone_n that_o will_v not_o fail_v he_o but_o now_o the_o second_o act_n whereby_o i_o come_v to_o know_v that_o i_o have_v do_v this_o that_o be_v ground_v upon_o experience_n indeed_o we_o be_v
