yet_o it_o have_v not_o the_o operative_a yea_o that_o the_o receptive_a make_v way_n for_o the_o operative_a as_o to_o instance_n in_o some_o 1._o the_o needle_n of_o the_o compass_n must_v first_o receive_v its_o virtue_n from_o the_o load_n stone_n be_v touch_v with_o it_o before_o it_o can_v direct_v itself_o towards_o the_o pole_n 2._o the_o branch_n that_o be_v cutoff_a from_o its_o own_o natural_a stock_n and_o graft_v into_o another_o it_o first_o receive_v life_n and_o virtue_n from_o the_o stock_n into_o which_o it_o be_v graft_v and_o drink_v it_o in_o before_o it_o proceed_v to_o send_v forth_o either_o leaf_n or_o flourish_n or_o fruit_n 3._o the_o womb_n first_o receive_v seed_n before_o the_o power_n of_o nature_n in_o it_o proceed_v in_o their_o operation_n for_o its_o conception_n and_o formation_n 4._o the_o stomach_n first_o receive_v the_o meat_n into_o it_o before_o by_o the_o power_n of_o nature_n therein_o it_o digest_v and_o turn_v it_o into_o the_o nourishment_n of_o the_o body_n and_o indeed_o this_o last_o example_n do_v with_o great_a clearness_n hold_v forth_o the_o thing_n in_o hand_n for_o suppose_v now_o a_o man_n through_o hunger_n be_v even_o faint_a and_o as_o it_o be_v dead_a so_o that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o do_v nothing_o yet_o receive_v a_o little_a food_n the_o virtue_n of_o it_o do_v sudden_o revive_v he_o and_o give_v he_o natural_a strength_n whereby_o he_o may_v do_v and_o work_v as_o former_o and_o thus_o the_o soul_n receive_v and_o drink_v in_o that_o divine_a virtue_n of_o life_n that_o be_v in_o the_o divine_a seed_n be_v thereby_o quicken_v and_o strengthen_v to_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o pertain_v unto_o a_o holy_a life_n in_o some_o measure_n all_o which_o example_n and_o many_o more_o which_o can_v be_v adduce_v prove_v that_o a_o thing_n may_v have_v a_o receptive_a power_n and_o not_o the_o operative_a yea_o that_o the_o receptive_a make_v way_n for_o the_o operative_a and_o to_o this_o purpose_n these_o word_n of_o christ_n be_v observable_a he_o that_o believe_v in_o i_o say_v he_o though_o he_o be_v dead_a yet_o shall_v he_o live_v which_o import_v that_o a_o soul_n though_o it_o be_v dead_a may_v believe_v that_o be_v to_o say_v receive_v the_o seed_n and_o principle_n of_o life_n into_o it_o for_o this_o divine_a principle_n be_v of_o a_o insinuate_a and_o penetrate_a nature_n it_o do_v make_v way_n for_o its_o own_o reception_n in_o the_o heart_n insinuate_a and_o as_o it_o be_v wind_v itself_o thereinto_o as_o the_o fire_n do_v into_o wood_n or_o any_o combustible_a matter_n but_o now_o when_o this_o principle_n do_v labour_n to_o work_v itself_o into_o the_o soul_n and_o its_o power_n the_o soul_n may_v resist_v and_o do_v so_o many_o time_n whereby_o it_o remain_v dead_a though_o otherwise_o it_o may_v have_v live_v by_o give_v way_n unto_o or_o receive_v this_o divine_a principle_n and_o seed_n and_o thus_o that_o subtle_a objection_n may_v be_v answer_v which_o be_v thus_o believe_v or_o faith_n be_v a_o act_n of_o spiritual_a life_n indwell_v in_o the_o soul_n and_o can_v only_o proceed_v from_o the_o soul_n that_o live_v a_o spiritual_a life_n for_o as_o a_o dead_a body_n can_v walk_v or_o move_v so_o nor_o can_v a_o dead_a soul_n believe_v from_o this_o it_o be_v infer_v that_o the_o soul_n must_v first_o live_v before_o it_o can_v believe_v or_o have_v faith_n and_o consequent_o that_o none_o other_o can_v have_v faith_n but_o they_o who_o be_v already_o partaker_n of_o a_o spiritual_a life_n which_o be_v contrary_a to_o what_o you_o say_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o all_o man_n to_o believe_v while_o yet_o you_o grant_v all_o man_n be_v not_o spiritual_o alive_a but_o this_o be_v answer_v by_o the_o former_a distinction_n of_o the_o twofold_a property_n of_o faith_n therefore_o unto_o that_o proposition_n on_o which_o the_o whole_a strength_n of_o the_o objection_n lie_v viz._n that_o faith_n be_v a_o act_n of_o spiritual_a life_n indwell_v in_o the_o soul_n i_o thus_o answer_v that_o the_o operative_a faith_n or_o believe_v be_v a_o act_n of_o spiritual_a life_n indwell_v i_o grant_v but_o as_o for_o the_o receptive_a property_n of_o faith_n through_o it_o the_o soul_n be_v make_v a_o partaker_n of_o the_o spiritual_a life_n by_o which_o it_o come_v to_o indwell_v in_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o the_o soul_n can_v be_v conceive_v to_o live_v spiritual_o before_o the_o receptive_a faith_n this_o receptive_a faith_n be_v the_o same_o with_o the_o soul_n be_v convert_v or_o turn_v or_o be_v convert_v or_o turn_v inward_o by_o the_o lord_n unto_o the_o divine_a seed_n and_o principle_n in_o it_o and_o to_o the_o divine_a presence_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n jesus_n therein_o whereof_o i_o have_v say_v somewhat_o chap._n 4._o and_o whether_o the_o soul_n be_v suppose_v only_o to_o be_v passive_a in_o this_o receptive_a faith_n or_o partly_o passive_a and_o partly_o active_a the_o matter_n be_v not_o much_o provide_v it_o be_v acknowledge_v that_o it_o can_v so_o much_o as_o believe_v even_o according_a to_o the_o receptive_a faith_n but_o as_o it_o be_v enable_v and_o assist_v after_o a_o supernatural_a manner_n by_o the_o lord_n also_o some_o may_v object_v this_o doctrine_n seem_v contrary_a to_o what_o you_o seem_v to_o hold_v when_o you_o say_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o all_o man_n to_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o god_n require_v of_o they_o and_o that_o no_o man_n perish_v for_o want_v of_o power_n to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n answ._n there_o be_v no_o contrariety_n herein_o for_o when_o we_o say_v it_o be_v possible_a for_o all_o man_n to_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o god_n require_v of_o they_o we_o understand_v not_o this_o simple_o and_o absolute_o

some_o creep_v upon_o the_o belly_n other_o be_v fowl_n fly_v in_o the_o air_n and_o other_o be_v fish_n swim_v in_o the_o sea_n and_o rivers_n now_o though_o the_o beast_n such_o as_o the_o horse_n and_o ass_n can_v move_v upon_o four_o and_o run_v with_o a_o good_a pace_n yet_o they_o can_v fly_v as_o the_o fowl_n of_o the_o air_n neither_o can_v the_o fish_n move_v upon_o dry_a land_n and_o we_o will_v judge_v it_o a_o most_o unnatural_a and_o ridiculous_a thing_n to_o observe_v a_o horse_n essay_v to_o mount_v up_o into_o the_o air_n and_o fly_v like_o a_o fowl_n or_o a_o fish_n to_o move_v on_o dry_a land_n the_o reason_n of_o all_o which_o be_v because_o these_o motion_n be_v of_o different_a kind_n and_o proceed_v from_o different_a power_n of_o the_o sensual_a life_n and_o require_v different_a organ_n for_o their_o perform_n as_o the_o fowl_n its_o wing_n the_o fish_n its_o fin_n or_o scale_n etc._n etc._n beast_n their_o four_o foot_n or_o leg_n furthermore_o a_o beast_n can_v perform_v the_o natural_a operation_n of_o man_n even_o as_o a_o natural_a man_n such_o as_o to_o build_v plant_v write_v speak_v discourse_n for_o these_o be_v the_o operation_n proceed_v from_o the_o reasonable_a power_n which_o beast_n want_v now_o as_o to_o the_o other_o part_n to_o clear_v it_o also_o by_o example_n suppose_v i_o have_v the_o locomotive_a power_n and_o organ_n yet_o if_o there_o be_v such_o strong_a impediment_n as_o do_v universal_o hinder_v either_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o i_o can_v move_v as_o if_o the_o body_n be_v in_o some_o lethargy_n or_o swarf_n or_o universal_a gout_n which_o stop_v the_o power_n of_o motion_n or_o if_o the_o power_n be_v free_a yet_o if_o some_o external_a impediment_n be_v on_o the_o organ_n as_o the_o hand_n or_o foot_n bind_v with_o fetter_n they_o can_v move_v etc._n etc._n i_o have_v the_o more_o full_o insist_v on_o these_o example_n because_o they_o do_v very_o pertinent_o hold_v forth_o the_o thing_n in_o hand_n for_o indeed_o as_o impossible_a as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o man_n to_o perform_v the_o work_n and_o operation_n of_o holiness_n without_o he_o be_v endue_v and_o clothe_v with_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o holiness_n and_o receive_v the_o organ_n requisite_a thereunto_o as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o tree_n to_o walk_v or_o a_o horse_n to_o fly_v like_o a_o eagle_n or_o a_o fish_n to_o run_v upon_o dry_a land_n or_o for_o a_o brute_n to_o understand_v and_o discourse_v the_o thing_n of_o reason_n like_o a_o man_n for_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o holiness_n stand_v in_o a_o region_n above_o the_o life_n of_o the_o natural_a reason_n and_o the_o natural_a power_n of_o manhood_n as_o much_o i●_n not_o more_o as_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o natural_a reason_n and_o manhood_n stand_v in_o a_o region_n above_o the_o sensual_a life_n and_o power_n of_o brute_n now_o man_n in_o his_o natural_a or_o unrenewed_a or_o unregenerate_a state_n do_v not_o live_v the_o life_n of_o holiness_n be_v but_o a_o natural_a man_n and_o not_o a_o saint_n therefore_o it_o be_v as_o impossible_a for_o he_o to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o saint_n as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o beast_n to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o man_n indeed_o a_o natural_a and_o unrenewed_a man_n may_v counterfeit_v the_o work_n of_o the_o saint_n speak_v and_o do_v something_o like_o they_o as_o to_o outward_a appearance_n but_o they_o can_v true_o perform_v there_o be_v as_o great_a a_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o action_n and_o motion_n of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o as_o betwixt_o the_o flight_n of_o a_o live_a dove_n which_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o life_n in_o she_o and_o the_o flight_n of_o that_o mechanical_a dove_n of_o architas_n which_o he_o be_v report_v to_o have_v make_v fly_v from_o some_o inward_a mechanic_n spring_v and_o device_n very_o artificial_o compose_v the_o motion_n of_o the_o one_o be_v living_n and_o natural_a and_o that_o of_o the_o other_o dead_a and_o artificial_a so_o it_o be_v as_o to_o the_o motion_n and_o work_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o those_o who_o be_v not_o saint_n the_o saint_n work_n and_o motion_n be_v live_v and_o do_v savour_n of_o that_o holy_a and_o precious_a life_n which_o produce_v they_o but_o the_o motion_n and_o work_n of_o the_o unholy_a and_o unrenewed_a be_v dead_a have_v no_o savour_n nor_o virtue_n of_o the_o holy_a life_n in_o they_o every_o man_n act_v according_a to_o that_o principle_n and_o power_n of_o life_n with_o which_o he_o be_v endue_v ●o_o the_o holy_a man_n act_v from_o the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o holiness_n which_o endue_v and_o clothe_v he_o and_o put_v a_o seal_n or_o impression_n of_o itself_o upon_o every_o work_n more_o or_o less_o which_o proceed_v therefrom_o that_o he_o which_o have_v the_o spiritual_a eye_n can_v read_v without_o any_o difficulty_n but_o the_o unholy_a man_n the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o unholiness_n indue_a and_o clothing_n he_o and_o impediment_n which_o will_v let_v they_o from_o their_o entrance_n into_o a_o holy_a life_n or_o make_v progress_n therein_o for_o whatever_o work_v of_o that_o kind_n they_o produce_v it_o be_v from_o that_o principle_n life_n and_o spirit_n which_o be_v contrary_a unto_o the_o principle_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o choke_v and_o burden_v it_o also_o the_o soul_n be_v so_o inward_o convert_v to_o this_o evil_a principle_n through_o its_o work_n thereby_o and_o therefrom_o can_v so_o convert_v itself_o or_o persist_v in_o its_o conversion_n till_o it_o come_v to_o passiveness_n or_o forbearance_n so_o from_o all_o this_o i●_n be_v manifest_a that_o the_o soul_n ought_v to_o be_v passive_a and_o forbear_v its_o work_n and_o operative_a exercise_n until_o at_o least_o through_o its_o conversion_n unto_o the_o divine_a presence_n in_o the_o divine_a seed_n and_o i●s_a continuance_n therein_o for_o some_o time_n it_o come_v to_o be_v endue_v and_o clothe_v with_o the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o holiness_n in_o some_o measure_n which_o it_o drink_v in_o from_o these_o divine_a touch_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n present_v in_o it_o in_o the_o divine_a s●●d_n as_o it_o abide_v in_o its_o conversion_n thereunto_o even_o as_o the_o needle_n by_o its_o be_v touch_v by_o the_o loadstone_n and_o be_v for_o some_o time_n apply_v thereunto_o drink_v in_o a_o magnetic_a power_n and_o virtue_n whereby_o it_o move_v towards_o the_o north_n and_o though_o by_o some_o violence_n it_o shall_v be_v move_v out_o of_o its_o line_n it_o return_v to_o it_o again_o through_o the_o innate_a inclination_n beget_v in_o it_o by_o the_o virtue_n it_o have_v drink_v in_o from_o the_o loadstone_n wherewith_o it_o be_v touch_v now_o such_o be_v the_o state_n of_o the_o soul_n before_o it_o have_v drink_v in_o this_o virtue_n and_o power_n of_o a_o holy_a life_n from_o the_o divine_a presence_n in_o the_o divine_a seed_n in_o it_o that_o it_o not_o only_o want_v altogether_o these_o power_n whereby_o it_o can_v move_v in_o holy_a action_n but_o it_o be_v also_o clothe_v with_o many_o power_n of_o a_o contrary_a life_n which_o in_o no_o wise_a will_v permit_v it_o to_o move_v true_o in_o any_o holy_a action_n though_o we_o can_v suppose_v it_o otherwise_o to_o have_v both_o the_o power_n and_o organ_n requisite_a thereunto_o there_o be_v a_o body_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n with_o many_o member_n which_o hang_v upon_o it_o and_o cover_v it_o all_o over_o and_o lie_v so_o heavy_a upon_o it_o even_o as_o so_o many_o talent_n of_o lead_n that_o it_o can_v move_v in_o holy_a action_n more_o than_o a_o body_n that_o have_v a_o hundred_o stone_n weight_n of_o iron_n load_v it_o can_v walk_v indeed_o with_o these_o weight_n of_o sin_n it_o can_v move_v swift_o and_o vigorous_o in_o unholy_a action_n

as_o thus_o god_n be_v the_o life_n of_o our_o soul_n as_o a_o efficient_a c●use_n of_o life_n and_o that_o original_o and_o immediate_o but_o not_o as_o the_o inform_a or_o formal_a cause_n thereof_o such_o as_o the_o holy_a life_n beget_v of_o the_o holy_a seed_n be_v which_o be_v even_o the_o formal_a cause_n of_o it_o chap._n vii_o show_v how_o the_o soul_n be_v to_o reflect_v upon_o itself_o and_o enter_v into_o trial_n and_o examination_n of_o itself_o whether_o it_o have_v true_o pass_v through_o the_o aforesaid_a step_n of_o conversion_n and_o continuance_n therein_o in_o passiveness_n and_o forbearance_n and_o whether_o it_o have_v attain_v unto_o any_o beginning_n of_o the_o divine_a and_o holy_a life_n and_o the_o power_n thereof_o before_o it_o enter_v upon_o other_o operative_a exercise_n and_o how_o or_o by_o what_o rule_n or_o touchstone_n it_o may_v infallible_o know_v the_o same_o the_o service_n which_o the_o lord_n require_v of_o we_o and_o which_o we_o ought_v to_o perform_v unto_o he_o be_v our_o reasonable_a service_n as_o the_o scripture_n declare_v and_o express_o call_v it_o which_o beside_o other_o thing_n which_o may_v be_v mention_v do_v import_v this_o especial_o that_o whatsoever_o service_n or_o work_v we_o go_v about_o to_o do_v unto_o the_o lord_n we_o do_v it_o with_o a_o true_a and_o certain_a knowledge_n that_o we_o be_v indeed_o serve_v he_o and_o not_o ourselves_o nor_o any_o other_o for_o if_o i_o do_v any_o work_n and_o yet_o do_v not_o know_v certain_o to_o who_o i_o be_o work_v my_o work_n can_v be_v call_v reasonable_a for_o to_o do_v a_o thing_n reasonable_o be_v to_o do_v it_o with_o a_o certain_a knowledge_n and_o judgement_n and_o herein_o be_v man_n excellency_n above_o the_o other_o creature_n which_o be_v unreasonable_a that_o whereas_o they_o work_v only_o according_a to_o that_o which_o either_o inward_o or_o outward_o move_v they_o not_o know_v what_o they_o do_v so_o as_o to_o make_v a_o judgement_n of_o give_v a_o rational_a account_n of_o our_o service_n that_o it_o be_v indeed_o unto_o the_o lord_n and_o this_o we_o can_v do_v unless_o we_o certain_o know_v that_o what_o we_o do_v be_v by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o holy_a life_n and_o spirit_n assist_v we_o for_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n who_o give_v we_o both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o do_v and_o without_o he_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o not_o so_o much_o as_o say_v that_o jesus_n be_v the_o lord_n but_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n divine_o and_o supernatural_o assist_v we_o indeed_o we_o may_v repeat_v the_o bare_a word_n without_o any_o supernatural_a assistance_n but_o here_o they_o be_v no_o wise_a regard_v of_o the_o lord_n for_o if_o they_o be_v not_o express_v with_o the_o supernatural_a assistance_n of_o his_o spirit_n as_o aforesaid_a they_o be_v but_o dead_a and_o empty_a of_o that_o life_n and_o virtue_n which_o render_v they_o acceptable_a unto_o he_o and_o so_o any_o other_o work_n if_o we_o do_v not_o work_v it_o in_o he_o and_o by_o he_o supernatural_o assist_v we_o do_v it_o not_o to_o he_o and_o if_o we_o know_v not_o that_o we_o do_v so_o it_o be_v not_o our_o reasonable_a service_n which_o he_o require_v moreover_o whatever_o we_o do_v as_o a_o service_n unto_o the_o lord_n we_o ought_v to_o do_v it_o in_o faith_n but_o if_o we_o do_v not_o certain_o know_v from_o what_o principle_n or_o power_n we_o do_v any_o thing_n we_o be_v leave_v in_o a_o suspense_n and_o doubtfulness_n and_o have_v nothing_o but_o conjecture_v at_o best_a to_o build_v upon_o which_o be_v far_o from_o faith_n also_o he_o that_o do_v a_o thing_n doubtful_o do_v both_o displease_v the_o lord_n who_o forbid_v it_o and_o bring_v weakness_n and_o confusion_n upon_o himself_o for_o he_o that_o doubt_v be_v damn_v as_o say_v the_o scripture_n now_o to_o the_o end_n that_o a_o man_n may_v know_v whether_o the_o work_n or_o work_n which_o he_o be_v about_o to_o do_v be_v indeed_o unto_o the_o lord_n he_o be_v to_o reflect_v upon_o himself_o and_o to_o enter_v upon_o a_o impartial_a examination_n and_o trial_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n whether_o he_o have_v pass_v true_o through_o the_o aforesaid_a step_n of_o conversion_n and_o continuance_n therein_o in_o passiveness_n and_o forbearance_n and_o so_o whether_o he_o have_v attain_v unto_o any_o true_a beginning_n of_o the_o divine_a and_o holy_a life_n and_o the_o power_n thereof_o and_o that_o before_o he_o enter_v upon_o other_o operative_a exercise_n because_o that_o unless_o in_o some_o measure_n he_o have_v true_o pass_v through_o these_o step_n he_o can_v perform_v any_o work_n right_o and_o acceptable_o unto_o god_n and_o this_o examination_n and_o reflection_n be_v the_o more_o needful_a for_o that_o even_o these_o step_n may_v be_v counterfeit_v no_o less_o than_o other_o thing_n a_o soul_n may_v even_o seem_v to_o itself_o to_o have_v convert_v or_o turn_v itself_o inward_o unto_o the_o divine_a presence_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o not_o have_v true_o convert_v thereunto_o yea_o i_o will_v say_v a_o great_a word_n but_o that_o which_o be_v a_o very_a certain_a truth_n many_o do_v inward_o convert_v as_o unto_o god_n but_o it_o be_v not_o to_o the_o true_a god_n but_o a_o false_a even_o a_o image_n of_o their_o own_o frame_n and_o devise_v and_o as_o unto_o christ_n but_o indeed_o it_o be_v unto_o antichrist_n and_o sure_o this_o measure_n a_o true_a objective_n concept_n or_o idea_n of_o god_n put_v or_o plant_v by_o god_n himself_o in_o every_o man_n mind_n which_o be_v in_o and_o of_o the_o divine_a seed_n sow_v in_o every_o man_n yet_o the_o usual_a knowledge_n that_o man_n common_o have_v of_o god_n do_v not_o proceed_v from_o this_o true_a idea_n in_o the_o divine_a seed_n nor_o be_v it_o the_o pattern_n or_o example_n according_a to_o which_o they_o usual_o frame_v the_o thought_n and_o conception_n of_o their_o mind_n when_o they_o usual_o speak_v read_v hear_v or_o consider_v of_o he_o in_o their_o mind_n forasmuch_o as_o the_o divine_a seed_n in_o and_o through_o which_o the_o true_a idea_n be_v receive_v in_o most_o man_n yea_o in_o all_o wicked_a man_n and_o unconvert_v be_v great_o burden_a and_o oppress_v through_o the_o lust_n and_o iniquity_n which_o prevail_v in_o they_o whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o frequent_o that_o true_a object_n concept_n or_o idea_n or_o in_o great_a part_n that_o it_o can_v rule_v its_o inferior_a power_n as_o of_o the_o natural_a passion_n and_o affection_n but_o they_o often_o rebel_v against_o it_o so_o that_o many_o time_n a_o man_n be_v lead_v by_o his_o very_a animal_n passion_n into_o thing_n against_o his_o very_a will_n which_o will_v not_o be_v so_o be_v his_o will_n bring_v into_o a_o perfect_a subjection_n unto_o soul_n as_o we_o have_v often_o find_v by_o great_a and_o good_a experience_n 1._o it_o be_v of_o great_a comfort_n for_o it_o signify_v the_o great_a lenity_n and_o moderation_n of_o the_o lord_n towards_o we_o that_o if_o we_o be_v single_o give_v up_o in_o our_o mind_n have_v a_o willingness_n of_o heart_n in_o simplicity_n and_o uprightness_n to_o know_v the_o will_n of_o god_n perfect_o in_o all_o thing_n if_o some_o thing_n even_o of_o great_a importance_n be_v unclear_a unto_o we_o he_o spare_v to_o charge_v the_o guiltiness_n of_o disobedience_n upon_o we_o till_o we_o be_v clear_a though_o we_o be_v ●ound_v in_o the_o forbearance_n of_o they_o which_o be_v great_a gentleness_n upon_o the_o lord_n part_n 2._o again_o it_o be_v of_o great_a advantage_n to_o we_o for_o first_o it_o rid_v we_o of_o many_o superstitious_a fear_n which_o other_o have_v whilst_o one_o while_o they_o suppose_v they_o shall_v do_v this_o other_o while_o the_o contrary_a and_o still_o imagine_v god_n to_o be_v angry_a with_o they_o one_o way_n or_o other_o which_o beget_v most_o woeful_a superstitious_a fear_n in_o the_o soul_n and_o indeed_o i_o may_v say_v the_o ground_n of_o all_o superstition_n be_v the_o unclearness_n and_o confusion_n of_o mind_n as_o to_o the_o understanding_n the_o will_n of_o god_n one_o while_o over-rating_a thing_n and_o judge_v itself_o bind_v in_o thing_n wherein_o the_o lord_n have_v leave_v it_o free_a and_o then_o again_o imagine_v but_o both_o doubtful_o to_o please_v the_o lord_n in_o thing_n he_o do_v not_o regard_n second_o it_o reduce_v our_o whole_a work_n as_o it_o be_v within_o a_o narrow_a or_o small_a compass_n and_o yet_o not_o narrow_a than_o the_o lord_n allow_v for_o according_a to_o this_o advertisement_n concern_v the_o many_o thing_n that_o come_v before_o we_o as_o duty_n by_o way_n of_o consideration_n if_o we_o stand_v in_o a_o true_a and_o single_a resignation_n unto_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o all_o themselves_o but_o as_o they_o be_v inward_o present_v to_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o light_n life_n and_o spirit_n of_o christ_n jesus_n and_o apply_v thereby_o and_o that_o instant_o and_o continual_o for_o it_o be_v his_o light_n life_n and_o spirit_n alone_o which_o both_o give_v the_o true_a understanding_n of_o the_o use_n and_o end_v of_o these_o thing_n and_o also_o give_v unto_o the_o soul_n indeed_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o outward_a come_v suffering_n and_o death_n be_v of_o very_a bless_a use_n and_o advantage_n and_o all_o who_o have_v it_o shall_v be_v very_o thankful_a unto_o god_n who_o have_v give_v we_o this_o testimony_n of_o his_o love_n goodwill_n long-suffering_a and_o power_n in_o the_o outward_a come_n of_o jesus_n christ_n for_o the_o more_o abundant_a help_a and_o enable_v we_o to_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o love_v he_o yet_o this_o i_o say_v though_o express_a knowledge_n of_o his_o outward_a come_v suffering_n and_o death_n be_v very_o profitable_a to_o absolute_a necessity_n unto_o faith_n and_o love_n forasmuch_o as_o the_o outward_a come_v suffering_n and_o death_n of_o christ_n may_v have_v and_o have_v a_o real_a and_o true_a influence_n upon_o they_o who_o know_v it_o not_o express_o for_o see_v he_o have_v taste_v death_n for_o every_o man_n and_o give_v his_o life_n a_o ransom_n for_o all_o it_o can_v be_v but_o that_o it_o shall_v have_v
