it_o so_o the_o reverend_a and_o conscionable_a use_n of_o it_o must_v have_v a_o promise_n of_o blessing_n annex_v to_o it_o also_o but_o for_o want_v of_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n in_o this_o point_n we_o want_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o whereas_o a_o christian_n swear_v for_o conscience_n sake_n and_o in_o obedience_n to_o god_n commandment_n may_v lay_v upon_o a_o oath_n among_o his_o a_o oath_n though_o it_o be_v most_o true_a yet_o he_o sin_n and_o dishonour_n god_n in_o thus_o swear_v because_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n be_v sin_n now_o he_o have_v no_o faith_n nor_o never_o look_v to_o god_n commandment_n or_o glory_n in_o his_o oath_n therefore_o the_o man_n must_v be_v good_a sanctify_v by_o god_n spirit_n and_o by_o faith_n able_a to_o look_v to_o the_o one_o swear_v do_v not_o desire_v nor_o will_v not_o receive_v a_o oath_n than_o the_o oath_n be_v a_o wicked_a oath_n and_o therefore_o many_o man_n be_v to_o be_v reprove_v that_o in_o common_a buy_n and_o sell_v be_v so_o ready_a to_o swear_v as_o that_o though_o no_o man_n be_v willing_a they_o shall_v swear_v you_o rather_o be_v grieve_v and_o trouble_v at_o it_o yet_o every_o thing_n of_o never_o so_o light_a moment_n must_v have_v the_o confirmation_n of_o a_o oath_n join_v unto_o it_o but_o what_o get_v they_o that_o will_v make_v a_o trade_n of_o swear_v sure_o this_o that_o they_o grow_v to_o be_v suspect_v of_o unfaithfulnesse_n and_o when_o they_o be_v so_o lavish_a of_o god_n name_n both_o their_o own_o heart_n grow_v less_o to_o reverence_v it_o and_o other_o will_v not_o believe_v they_o but_o the_o more_o suspect_v they_o the_o more_o they_o think_v to_o remove_v all_o suspicion_n for_o a_o godly_a man_n and_o one_o that_o have_v any_o true_a fidelity_n in_o he_o set_v more_o by_o the_o name_n of_o god_n then_o to_o pawn_v it_o upon_o every_o small_a occasion_n and_o therefore_o those_o may_v be_v just_o think_v most_o deceitful_a towards_o man_n that_o be_v most_o profane_a to_o god_n and_o he_o that_o care_v not_o to_o dishonour_n god_n will_v never_o make_v any_o great_a bone_n of_o cozen_a his_o neighbour_n these_o rule_n be_v for_o the_o person_n now_o for_o the_o thing_n itself_o first_o it_o must_v be_v true_a that_o be_v swear_v that_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o we_o confirm_v by_o take_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o our_o mouth_n must_v not_o only_o be_v true_a in_o itself_o but_o it_o must_v also_o be_v a_o know_a truth_n of_o which_o he_o that_o swear_v have_v some_o certainty_n his_o conscience_n must_v not_o doubt_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o if_o he_o do_v he_o set_v to_o light_v by_o god_n name_n so_o jerem._n 4._o 2._o he_o require_v that_o one_o must_v swear_v in_o truth_n and_o in_o judgement_n if_o one_o and_o fit_v our_o heart_n to_o profit_n by_o the_o public_a exercise_n of_o religion_n on_o the_o sabbath_n and_o to_o entreat_v he_o that_o he_o will_v so_o direct_v the_o minister_n mouth_n be_v that_o he_o may_v speak_v to_o our_o heart_n and_o say_v something_o that_o serve_v to_o kill_v our_o sin_n and_o to_o comfort_n and_o build_v up_o our_o soul_n that_o as_o he_o be_v appoint_v for_o a_o physician_n so_o he_o will_v fit_v we_o with_o some_o medicine_n as_o well_o as_o other_o as_o saint_n paul_n bid_v they_o pray_v for_o he_o that_o he_o may_v have_v the_o door_n of_o utterance_n and_o when_o one_o do_v this_o in_o a_o humble_a hart_n desire_v to_o repent_v and_o turn_v from_o his_o sin_n in_o good_a earnest_n he_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o the_o sermon_n but_o he_o shall_v hear_v some_o one_o lesson_n or_o other_o that_o will_v make_v he_o better_o and_o he_o shall_v have_v cause_n to_o thank_v god_n for_o it_o but_o if_o one_o come_v rude_o into_o god_n house_n from_o brawl_a &_o chide_v at_o home_n or_o so_o soon_o as_o he_o be_v out_o of_o his_o bed_n to_o come_v to_o the_o church_n without_o prepare_v his_o hart_n or_o fit_v himself_o by_o any_o prayer_n to_o god_n or_o confession_n and_o sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n than_o he_o shall_v feel_v that_o to_o his_o unclean_a hart_n all_o thing_n be_v unclean_a the_o word_n shall_v be_v but_o a_o tediousness_n &_o serve_v to_o the_o further_o harden_v of_o his_o hart_n also_o one_o must_v read_v some_o part_n of_o the_o scripture_n private_o that_o may_v season_v his_o hart_n and_o settle_v and_o quiet_v his_o mind_n &_o affection_n that_o he_o may_v be_v more_o teachable_a and_o that_o he_o may_v the_o better_o fit_v himself_o after_o this_o sort_n he_o be_v to_o rise_v betimes_o in_o the_o morning_n for_o there_o be_v none_o so_o good_a a_o master_n no_o work_n so_o good_a in_o itself_o nor_o none_o that_o will_v bring_v so_o great_a a_o reward_n &_o therefore_o we_o shall_v rise_v as_o early_o to_o serve_v this_o master_n in_o this_o work_n as_o any_o day_n else_o for_o any_o other_o work_n and_o if_o we_o do_v thus_o we_o may_v have_v sufficient_a to_o provide_v for_o the_o public_a exercise_n that_o we_o may_v come_v unto_o they_o with_o profit_n also_o a_o other_o private_a work_n of_o the_o sabbath_n be_v to_o releâ—ue_v and_o visit_v they_o that_o be_v sick_a or_o in_o any_o kind_n of_o misery_n and_o so_o also_o to_o reconcile_v those_o that_o be_v at_o jar_n and_o discord_n further_o also_o to_o meditate_v upon_o the_o word_n that_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o to_o ponder_v of_o it_o to_o apply_v it_o to_o ourselves_o to_o mark_v what_o we_o have_v remember_v what_o we_o have_v lay_v up_o in_o our_o heart_n and_o purpose_n to_o follow_v and_o how_o matter_n stand_v betwixt_o god_n and_o ourselves_o in_o the_o thing_n that_o have_v be_v deliver_v for_o till_o the_o word_n be_v thus_o make_v our_o own_o it_o be_v but_o as_o chaff_n lie_v loose_a in_o the_o hart_n that_o every_o puff_n of_o wind_n will_v drive_v away_o and_o every_o temptation_n will_v blow_v from_o us._n it_o be_v not_o as_o a_o treasure_n lock_v up_o that_o will_v stand_v we_o in_o some_o steed_n in_o the_o time_n of_o need_n likewise_o to_o confer_v with_o other_o christian_n among_o who_o we_o live_v &_o to_o talk_v of_o the_o thing_n teach_v call_v they_o to_o mind_n and_o how_o they_o be_v prove_v unto_o we_o and_o then_o further_o to_o enlarge_v they_o according_a to_o our_o own_o particular_a necessity_n and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o spread_v the_o medicine_n upon_o one_o a_o other_o heart_n these_o be_v the_o private_a thing_n which_o as_o every_o one_o be_v more_o careful_a to_o perform_v so_o shall_v he_o receive_v a_o more_o large_a and_o abundant_a blessing_n upon_o the_o public_a now_o the_o public_a themselves_o be_v to_o join_v with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o congregasion_n in_o pray_v and_o praise_v god_n with_o one_o hart_n and_o voice_n in_o diligent_a attend_v to_o the_o word_n public_o read_v &_o preach_v for_o there_o be_v a_o great_a blessing_n promise_v to_o this_o ministerial_a read_n then_o to_o any_o man_n read_v at_o home_n then_o also_o the_o use_n of_o the_o sacrament_n as_o to_o be_v present_a at_o baptism_n for_o the_o depart_n away_o argue_v a_o great_a contempt_n of_o it_o and_o with_o a_o public_a disgrace_n of_o god_n ordinance_n for_o if_o one_o or_o two_o have_v liberty_n the_o rest_n have_v the_o like_a and_o then_o where_o be_v the_o reverence_n therefore_o one_o must_v tarry_v at_o such_o exercise_n as_o to_o show_v his_o reverence_n so_o second_o to_o help_v the_o congregation_n in_o praise_v god_n for_o engraft_v a_o other_o member_n into_o his_o visible_a body_n of_o the_o church_n &_o to_o pray_v for_o our_o sake_n the_o three_o duty_n of_o servant_n be_v faithfulness_n as_o be_v command_v tit._n 2._o 10._o that_o they_o show_v all_o good_a faithfulness_n how_o be_v that_o not_o picker_n or_o stealer_n that_o be_v not_o faithfulness_n the_o servant_n than_o must_v be_v faithful_a in_o his_o master_n good_a and_o as_o thirsty_a and_o diligent_a in_o do_v the_o work_n of_o his_o master_n family_n as_o if_o it_o be_v the_o work_n of_o his_o own_o own_o family_n and_o for_o himself_o let_v he_o look_v that_o no_o ill_o get_v good_n cleave_v to_o his_o hand_n for_o this_o be_v a_o foul_a treachery_n when_o the_o master_n give_v he_o wage_n and_o meat_n and_o drink_n and_o thing_n due_a and_o fit_a to_o become_v a_o thief_n and_o rob_v he_o this_o be_v against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o of_o nation_n to_o deceive_v he_o and_o bcome_v a_o so_o to_o he_o that_o trust_v one_o and_o put_v confidence_n in_o he_o therefore_o this_o serve_v to_o reprove_v such_o as_o will_v be_v prig_v and_o filch_v and_o convert_n their_o master_n good_n to_o themselves_o if_o either_o they_o look_v for_o sound_v peace_n and_o comfort_n to_o their_o conscience_n they_o must_v make_v restitution_n of_o all_o such_o thing_n this_o be_v one_o thing_n then_o to_o restrain_v one_o let_v he_o remember_v that_o how_o much_o soever_o he_o steal_v so_o much_o he_o must_v restore_v and_o the_o five_o part_n thereto_o or_o if_o he_o keep_v it_o he_o keep_v god_n curse_n with_o it_o and_o a_o woe_n to_o his_o own_o conscience_n therefore_o they_o sin_v high_o that_o care_n not_o what_o loss_n they_o bring_v to_o their_o master_n if_o it_o be_v secret_a and_o also_o in_o a_o other_o kind_n of_o unfaithfulnesse_n be_v in_o riotous_a servant_n that_o can_v rid_v of_o no_o work_n but_o it_o be_v to_o do_v any_o thing_n of_o good_a service_n to_o the_o family_n that_o the_o master_n shall_v be_v the_o better_a for_o it_o yet_o can_v do_v nothing_o these_o be_v unfaithful_a for_o a_o idle_a person_n be_v a_o companion_n with_o the_o waister_n and_o such_o be_v thief_n for_o they_o live_v out_o of_o a_o calling_n they_o obey_v no_o law_n nor_o have_v any_o warrant_n from_o god_n to_o use_v any_o of_o his_o creature_n a_o four_o duty_n in_o servant_n be_v to_o serve_v god_n in_o their_o call_n for_o admit_v one_o do_v all_o the_o former_a that_o he_o reverence_v his_o master_n can_v say_v they_o have_v preach_v many_o sermon_n and_o deliver_v many_o doctrine_n and_o admonition_n to_o their_o parisioner_n give_v they_o many_o good_a exhortation_n but_o who_o of_o many_o can_v say_v as_o jerome_n do_v my_o soul_n shall_v weep_v for_o you_o in_o secret_n if_o public_a preach_n will_v not_o prevail_v i_o will_v try_v what_o private_a weep_n can_v do_v and_o if_o i_o make_v they_o fruitless_a hearer_n of_o that_o word_n which_o to_o better_a man_n want_v not_o a_o most_o excellent_a fruit_n according_a as_o christ_n have_v say_v he_o that_o despise_v you_o despise_v i_o and_o he_o that_o despise_v i_o despise_v he_o that_o send_v i_o if_o they_o despise_v god_n how_o can_v they_o reverence_v the_o man_n of_o god_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o young_a of_o the_o minister_n else_o they_o be_v no_o faithful_a keeper_n of_o the_o eight_o commandment_n unless_o they_o make_v conscience_n to_o yield_v obedience_n to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o their_o minister_n teach_v true_o out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o be_v command_v heb._n 13._o 17._o obey_v they_o that_o have_v the_o oversight_n of_o you_o and_o submit_v yourselves_o etc._n etc._n he_o will_v they_o to_o obey_v their_o minister_n namely_o in_o doctrine_n and_o he_o add_v the_o reason_n because_o they_o watch_v for_o your_o soul_n since_o you_o stand_v upon_o their_o guard_n show_v they_o that_o they_o must_v rule_v themselves_o and_o family_n after_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o follow_v their_o own_o lust_n this_o of_o all_o affliction_n do_v most_o wound_n &_o break_v
