to_o sanctify_v we_o after_o he_o have_v justify_v us._n i_o confess_v it_o be_v not_o so_o in_o other_o thing_n there_o be_v still_o some_o action_n of_o our_o own_o require_v to_o gain_v this_o or_o that_o habit_n or_o ability_n as_o you_o see_v in_o natural_a thing_n there_o be_v some_o kind_n of_o habit_n that_o we_o get_v by_o some_o precedent_a action_n of_o our_o own_o habit_n as_o the_o learning_n of_o art_n and_o science_n to_o learn_v to_o write_v well_o etc._n etc._n here_o there_o be_v some_o action_n of_o our_o own_o require_v to_o fit_v we_o for_o it_o and_o then_o we_o get_v the_o ability_n to_o do_v it_o but_o beside_o these_o there_o be_v other_o habit_n that_o be_v plant_v by_o nature_n in_o we_o as_o a_o ability_n to_o hear_v to_o see_v to_o taste_v etc._n etc._n now_o for_o these_o we_o need_v not_o any_o action_n of_o our_o own_o for_o the_o attain_n of_o they_o because_o they_o be_v plant_v in_o we_o by_o nature_n so_o it_o be_v in_o these_o thing_n that_o belong_v to_o salvation_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o we_o may_v get_v habit_n of_o moral_a virtue_n by_o labour_n and_o pain_n of_o our_o own_o there_o be_v action_n of_o our_o own_o require_v to_o they_o and_o in_o that_o the_o philosopher_n say_v right_a that_o we_o learn_v to_o be_v temperate_a and_o sober_a and_o chaste_a etc._n etc._n but_o now_o for_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n there_o it_o be_v not_o so_o those_o habit_n that_o nature_n have_v plant_v in_o we_o we_o exercise_v they_o natural_o without_o do_v any_o action_n of_o our_o own_o to_o attain_v they_o as_o we_o do_v not_o by_o see_v oft_o learn_v to_o see_v but_o it_o be_v a_o faculty_n natural_o plant_v in_o we_o so_o it_o be_v in_o all_o the_o work_n that_o we_o must_v do_v which_o be_v the_o way_n to_o salvation_n god_n work_v they_o in_o we_o he_o infuse_v those_o habit_n into_o us._n therefore_o this_o conclusion_n be_v good_a that_o it_o be_v faith_n alone_o by_o which_o this_o righteousness_n be_v make_v we_o to_o salvation_n this_o be_v evident_a by_o the_o apostle_n gal._n 2._o ult._n say_v he_o it_o be_v not_o by_o the_o law_n if_o righteousness_n have_v be_v by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n than_o christ_n have_v die_v without_o a_o cause_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v salvation_n must_v needs_o be_v by_o one_o of_o these_o two_o either_o by_o something_o that_o we_o do_v ourselves_o some_o action_n that_o we_o ourselves_o have_v wrought_v or_o else_o it_o must_v be_v mere_o by_o faith_n now_o if_o it_o have_v be_v attainable_a by_o any_o work_n of_o our_o own_o find_v these_o four_o reason_n for_o it_o in_o the_o scripture_n two_o of_o they_o be_v set_v down_o rom._n 4.16_o therefore_o it_o be_v by_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v come_v by_o grace_n reason_n free_a and_o to_o be_v altogether_o of_o grace_n for_o this_o cause_n god_n will_v have_v salvation_n propound_v to_o man_n to_o be_v receive_v by_o faith_n only_o second_o reason_n as_o it_o be_v by_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v come_v by_o grace_n so_o also_o that_o it_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a if_o it_o have_v be_v any_o other_o way_n it_o have_v never_o be_v sure_a put_v the_o case_n that_o god_n have_v put_v we_o upon_o the_o condition_n of_o obedience_n and_o have_v give_v we_o grace_n and_o ability_n as_o he_o do_v to_o adam_n yet_o the_o law_n be_v strict_a and_o the_o least_o fail_a will_v have_v breed_v fear_n and_o doubt_n and_o will_v have_v cause_v death_n but_o now_o when_o the_o righteousness_n that_o save_v we_o be_v wrought_v already_o by_o god_n and_o offer_v to_o we_o by_o he_o and_o offer_v free_o and_o that_o the_o ground_n of_o this_o offer_n be_v the_o sure_a word_n of_o god_n and_o it_o be_v not_o a_o conjectural_a thing_n now_o we_o may_v build_v infallible_o upon_o it_o for_o unless_o faith_n have_v foot_v on_o the_o word_n we_o can_v say_v it_o be_v sure_a all_o thing_n else_o be_v mutable_a and_o subject_a to_o to_o make_v a_o man_n poor_a in_o spirit_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v fit_a to_o receive_v the_o gospel_n law_n for_o the_o law_n though_o it_o be_v fit_a to_o humble_v a_o man_n yet_o it_o be_v no_o you_o may_v but_o not_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o shall_v affect_v you_o for_o there_o be_v a_o manner_n of_o see_v proper_a only_o to_o the_o saint_n and_o that_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o when_o we_o shall_v so_o see_v they_o as_o to_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o otherwise_o you_o may_v read_v the_o scripture_n a_o thousand_o time_n over_o you_o may_v understand_v they_o yet_o you_o shall_v not_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o till_o the_o holy_a ghost_n show_v they_o unto_o you_o this_o be_v the_o secret_a of_o god_n that_o he_o reveal_v to_o those_o christ_n but_o the_o excellency_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o love_n with_o his_o person_n as_o well_o as_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v the_o privilege_n with_o he_o now_o himself_o therefore_o he_o go_v home_n not_o justify_v what_o be_v it_o that_o exclude_v the_o jew_n be_v it_o not_o a_o opinion_n of_o something_o they_o have_v of_o their_o own_o the_o laodicean_n they_o think_v they_o be_v rich_a and_o increase_v and_o want_v nothing_o therefore_o they_o never_o come_v to_o buy_v of_o christ_n that_o which_o a_o man_n think_v he_o have_v already_o of_o his_o own_o he_o will_v never_o be_v at_o the_o cost_n to_o buy_v therefore_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n that_o a_o man_n must_v do_v he_o must_v think_v himself_o of_o no_o worth_n at_o all_o he_o this_o further_a be_v require_v that_o a_o man_n see_v that_o he_o have_v no_o ability_n to_o help_v himself_o that_o all_o his_o redemption_n must_v come_v from_o christ_n for_o if_o you_o ask_v it_o be_v not_o a_o opinion_n of_o any_o worth_n in_o himself_o but_o because_o he_o think_v he_o can_v live_v without_o his_o father_n he_o have_v his_o portion_n in_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o at_o his_o own_o dispose_n and_o he_o will_v not_o come_v home_o to_o his_o father_n till_o he_o can_v live_v of_o himself_o no_o long_o so_o that_o though_o we_o have_v a_o opinion_n of_o no_o worth_n in_o ourselves_o yet_o if_o we_o conceive_v or_o think_v that_o we_o can_v live_v without_o christ_n we_o will_v not_o care_v for_o he_o this_o be_v the_o fault_n of_o those_o that_o be_v invite_v to_o the_o marriage_n they_o refuse_v to_o come_v not_o because_o they_o think_v that_o themselves_o be_v of_o worth_n but_o they_o be_v persuade_v that_o they_o need_v not_o those_o thing_n to_o which_o they_o be_v invite_v therefore_o i_o say_v these_o two_o thing_n must_v be_v do_v a_o man_n must_v be_v empty_v of_o all_o opinion_n of_o worth_n in_o himself_o and_o second_o of_o all_o ability_n in_o himself_o to_o help_v himself_o and_o when_o faith_n have_v do_v both_o these_o than_o it_o bring_v a_o man_n to_o christ_n when_o a_o man_n see_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o he_o why_o god_n shall_v regard_v he_o and_o that_o he_o can_v stand_v long_o nor_o be_v in_o safety_n long_o than_o christ_n help_v he_o and_o speak_v peace_n to_o he_o now_o a_o man_n be_v fit_a to_o take_v hold_n upon_o christ_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n with_o a_o empty_a heart_n many_o man_n complain_v that_o they_o will_v believe_v but_o they_o want_v be_v sinful_a for_o in_o this_o thou_o seek_v something_o in_o thyself_o but_o if_o a_o man_n complaint_n be_v this_o that_o he_o be_v not_o yet_o awake_v enough_o that_o he_o be_v not_o yet_o exact_a life_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o justify_v by_o faith_n god_n make_v no_o difference_n between_o these_o man_n the_o one_o be_v as_o near_o to_o heaven_n as_o the_o other_o god_n look_v upon_o they_o both_o with_o the_o same_o eye_n for_o he_o regard_v nothing_o without_o faith_n he_o that_o be_v the_o most_o profane_a and_o ungodly_a if_o he_o come_v with_o faith_n he_o shall_v obtain_v may_v be_v many_o delusion_n in_o this_o kind_n many_o hypocrite_n may_v have_v great_a rapture_n they_o may_v have_v great_a joy_n as_o if_o they_o be_v lift_v up_o into_o the_o three_o heaven_n they_o may_v have_v a_o great_a and_o strong_a persuasion_n that_o their_o estate_n be_v good_a satan_n be_v very_o apt_a to_o delude_v we_o in_o this_o kind_n to_o put_v a_o counterfeit_n upon_o we_o
