the_o pardon_n of_o sin_n the_o matter_n of_o enemity_n between_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v take_v away_o there_o be_v this_o in_o it_o which_o may_v have_v be_v add_v in_o the_o mystery_n when_o pardon_n of_o sin_n life_n and_o salvation_n that_o be_v faith_n of_o adherence_n suppose_v in_o seek_v my_o evidence_n many_o of_o they_o be_v take_v from_o the_o effect_n and_o friut_n of_o faith_n i_o can_v find_v they_o and_o so_o can_v put_v forth_o a_o reflect_v act_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v faith_n of_o assurance_n yet_o i_o may_v at_o that_o time_n have_v a_o faith_n of_o adherence_n thou_o may_v feel_v thy_o heart_n stick_v to_o christ_n and_o thou_o may_v venture_v thy_o soul_n on_o christ_n that_o faith_n will_v save_v thou_o though_o you_o have_v not_o a_o faith_n of_o assurance_n that_o be_v though_o you_o can_v find_v such_o evidence_n whereby_o you_o may_v draw_v up_o such_o a_o conclusion_n or_o make_v up_o such_o a_o judgement_n that_o you_o be_v pardon_v yet_o if_o you_o have_v a_o faith_n of_o adherence_n that_o you_o can_v stick_v to_o ghrist_n and_o venture_v your_o soul_n on_o he_o for_o life_n and_o salvation_n and_o all_o that_o be_v good_a that_o faith_n will_v save_v you_o and_o therefore_o upon_o examination_n of_o your_o evidence_n when_o you_o can_v get_v up_o to_o such_o act_n of_o faith_n as_o assurance_n be_v live_v then_o by_o a_o faith_n of_o adherence_n stick_v to_o christ_n say_v here_o i_o will_v resolve_v to_o live_v and_o die_v venture_v on_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n now_o for_o the_o soul_n to_o do_v this_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a work_n of_o faith_n for_o if_o you_o can_v venture_v your_o soul_n on_o christ_n you_o will_v venture_v your_o estate_n on_o christ_n your_o name_n on_o christ_n and_o all_o that_o you_o have_v on_o christ_n and_o therefore_o remember_v if_o you_o have_v not_o a_o faith_n of_o assurance_n then_o venture_v yourselves_o on_o christ_n by_o a_o faith_n of_o adherence_n and_o comfort_n will_v come_v in_o that_o way_n eight_o if_o at_o any_o time_n you_o feel_v comfort_n from_o evidence_n flow_v in_o upon_o your_o soul_n and_o that_o you_o be_v able_a to_o apply_v the_o comfort_n to_o yourselves_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v speak_v to_o you_o by_o such_o and_o such_o sign_n of_o a_o pardon_a sinner_n take_v heed_n
though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o many_o and_o great_a but_o also_o such_o a_o covenant_n upon_o my_o come_n in_o that_o god_n will_v discharge_v all_o sin_n that_o shall_v be_v commit_v for_o time_n to_o come_v though_o i_o be_v ready_a to_o fall_v into_o sin_n daily_o yet_o i_o shall_v not_o come_v into_o condemnation_n o_o what_o will_v so_o infinite_o engage_v a_o gracious_a and_o ingenious_a spirit_n as_o this_o do_v sure_o nothing_o like_o this_o now_o if_o this_o be_v true_a that_o man_n that_o be_v forgive_v be_v thus_o forgive_v not_o only_o for_o time_n past_a but_o also_o for_o time_n to_o come_v then_o bless_v be_v the_o man_n who_o transgression_n be_v forgive_v and_o who_o iniquity_n be_v pardon_v of_o the_o ten_o mystery_n god_n pardon_v a_o sinner_n not_o because_o he_o be_v but_o that_o he_o may_v be_v change_v 10._o the_o ten_o mystery_n be_v this_o for_o i_o will_v endeavour_v to_o show_v you_o what_o a_o mighty_a work_n pardon_v of_o sin_n be_v and_o raise_v up_o your_o heart_n to_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o it_o than_o ever_o you_o have_v before_o god_n do_v not_o pardon_v because_o a_o sinner_n have_v his_o heart_n and_o nature_n change_v but_o that_o he_o may_v be_v change_v and_o thus_o the_o pardon_n of_o god_n differ_v from_o all_o other_o pardon_n a_o prince_n pardon_v a_o malefactor_n or_o a_o father_n a_o child_n but_o upon_o what_o term_n a_o prince_n expect_v his_o subject_n shall_v be_v change_v as_o far_o as_o he_o can_v discern_v and_o a_o father_n though_o never_o so_o tender_a will_v not_o pardon_v a_o child_n unless_o he_o come_v in_o and_o manifest_a a_o change_n of_o his_o disobedient_a spirit_n and_o then_o he_o pardon_v god_n do_v not_o pardon_v because_o we_o be_v change_v but_o that_o we_o may_v be_v change_v his_o pardon_n come_v first_o rom._n 4.5_o a_o very_a strange_a place_n for_o this_o and_o may_v encourage_v any_o poor_a soul_n that_o be_v trouble_v for_o sin_n to_o come_v in_o and_o lie_v hold_v upon_o god_n mercy_n in_o christ_n but_o to_o he_o that_o work_v not_o but_o believe_v on_o he_o that_o justify_v the_o ungodly_a his_o faith_n be_v count_v unto_o he_o for_o righteousness_n mark_v when_o god_n come_v to_o justify_v a_o sinner_n he_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o ungodly_a he_o stay_v not_o till_o the_o sinner_n be_v make_v godly_a and_o then_o justify_v he_o as_o a_o prince_n stay_v till_o a_o malefactor_n heart_n be_v change_v and_o he_o become_v a_o loyal_a subject_n and_o then_o pardon_v he_o god_n be_v not_o so_o in_o justify_v soul_n he_o justify_v the_o ungodly_a one_o that_o be_v ungodly_a come_n to_o he_o he_o justify_v this_o be_v a_o mighty_a argument_n i_o name_v it_o for_o this_o end_n because_o i_o will_v teach_v people_n that_o notwithstanding_o any_o sin_n or_o guilt_n that_o lie_v upon_o their_o spirit_n yet_o they_o have_v a_o liberty_n to_o come_v in_o and_o lie_v hold_v upon_o christ_n for_o justification_n do_v not_o say_v i_o be_o ungodly_a i_o be_o a_o great_a sinner_n and_o have_v a_o vile_a heart_n and_o i_o find_v not_o my_o nature_n change_v and_o therefore_o how_o dare_v i_o lie_v hold_v upon_o god_n grace_n for_o mercy_n and_o pardon_v yea_o thou_o may_v because_o god_n justify_v the_o ungodly_a though_o thy_o nature_n be_v not_o change_v and_o sanctify_a as_o thou_o say_v take_v it_o thus_o thou_o must_v lay_v hold_v of_o god_n grace_n for_o justification_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v sanctify_v not_o only_o pardon_v but_o sanctify_v come_v but_o thus_o with_o thy_o heart_n affect_v to_o close_a with_o the_o grace_n of_o christ_n as_o well_o as_o any_o one_o whatsoever_o object_n will_v not_o this_o be_v presumption_n for_o a_o sinner_n thus_o to_o lay_v hold_n on_o christ_n answ_n if_o faith_n be_v mere_o a_o persuasion_n that_o christ_n die_v for_o they_o or_o as_o many_o man_n think_v thus_o well_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o he_o will_v pardon_v i_o christ_n have_v die_v there_o may_v be_v presumption_n in_o lay_v hold_n on_o christ_n but_o now_o as_o justification_n be_v a_o great_a mystery_n so_o be_v faith_n and_o faith_n be_v a_o mighty_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o the_o soul_n that_o cause_v the_o soul_n to_o roll_n and_o cast_v itself_o on_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o venture_v itself_o and_o all_o its_o hope_n for_o good_a and_o happiness_n on_o he_o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o come_n to_o christ_n for_o pardon_n but_o for_o grace_n holiness_n light_n good_a and_o happiness_n here_o and_o for_o whatever_o it_o do_v expect_v hereafter_o it_o look_v for_o all_o from_o he_o now_o when_o there_o be_v such_o a_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o soul_n in_o cast_v itself_o on_o god_n in_o christ_n though_o there_o be_v nothing_o at_o present_a but_o ungodliness_n in_o he_o appear_v yet_o such_o a_o one_o may_v and_o have_v right_a to_o come_v unto_o god_n for_o pardon_n for_o god_n justify_v the_o ungodly_a rom._n 5.6_o christ_n die_v for_o the_o ungodly_a and_o vers_fw-la 10._o if_o when_o we_o be_v enemy_n we_o be_v reconcile_v by_o the_o death_n of_o his_o son_n when_o we_o be_v enemy_n and_o have_v base_a heart_n full_a of_o enmity_n and_o if_o one_o have_v offend_v you_o you_o pardon_v the_o offender_n but_o you_o that_o be_v offend_v do_v not_o purchase_v a_o pardon_n for_o the_o offender_n possible_a some_o friend_n may_v come_v and_o purchase_v a_o pardon_n at_o the_o king_n hand_n for_o a_o offender_n but_o the_o king_n himself_o do_v not_o purchase_v it_o yet_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o god_n god_n do_v not_o pardon_v any_o one_o sin_n but_o it_o cost_v god_n himself_o dear_a before_o he_o get_v it_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o such_o a_o slight_a thing_n to_o be_v pardon_v you_o must_v not_o think_v to_o go_v to_o need_n god_n have_v purchase_v a_o pardon_n for_o man_n can_v he_o not_o have_v forgive_v he_o by_o his_o absolute_a prerogative_n i_o answer_v there_o be_v need_v because_o of_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o justice_n he_o do_v purchase_v it_o out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o justice_n god_n be_v fain_o to_o lay_v down_o a_o price_n to_o justice_n before_o he_o himself_o can_v pardon_v one_o sin_n justice_n must_v be_v satisfy_v before_o he_o can_v give_v out_o one_o pardon_n well_o take_v all_o these_o together_o christ_n must_v be_v our_o surety_n take_v the_o debt_n upon_o himself_o and_o suffer_v as_o much_o punishment_n as_o we_o shall_v have_v do_v in_o hell_n to_o all_o eternity_n and_o to_o make_v the_o soul_n stand_v righteous_a before_o god_n yet_o this_o righteousness_n to_o be_v in_o another_o yea_o a_o near_a union_n be_v make_v between_o christ_n and_o the_o soul_n and_o yet_o further_o it_o be_v by_o faith_n and_o yet_o boast_v be_v exclude_v and_o god_n be_v infinite_o merciful_a and_o yet_o infinite_o just_a and_o when_o he_o pardon_v one_o sin_n he_o lay_v in_o a_o pardon_n for_o all_o
shine_n into_o your_o heart_n than_o ever_o before_o the_o mystery_n of_o god_n will_v be_v open_v to_o you_o and_o you_o shall_v understand_v more_o than_o many_o of_o your_o father_n who_o have_v all_o know_v that_o have_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o grace_n and_o you_o young_a one_o you_o may_v come_v to_o have_v sin_n pardon_v as_o well_o as_o other_o and_o to_o have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o god_n reveal_v unto_o you_o 1_o joh._n 2.12_o compare_v with_o the_o 13._o i_o write_v unto_o you_o little_a child_n because_o your_o sin_n be_v forgive_v for_o and_o suggestion_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n prevail_v against_o they_o to_o take_v away_o all_o their_o comfort_n more_o than_o all_o the_o application_n of_o the_o word_n prevail_v to_o uphold_v &_o continue_v their_o comfort_n it_o be_v just_a with_o many_o that_o be_v gracious_a in_o the_o case_n of_o fear_n and_o doubt_n as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o wicked_a in_o regard_n of_o their_o hope_n a_o wicked_a man_n have_v the_o word_n against_o he_o that_o he_o be_v not_o in_o a_o good_a condition_n but_o his_o own_o self-love_n and_o conce_n encourage_v he_o to_o presume_v that_o he_o be_v in_o a_o good_a estate_n now_o he_o regard_v his_o own_o opinion_n and_o conceit_n and_o presume_v upon_o that_o that_o his_o estate_n be_v good_a more_o than_o on_o whatsoever_o be_v say_v unto_o he_o out_o of_o the_o word_n that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o so_o the_o people_n of_o god_n although_o they_o be_v in_o a_o good_a estate_n yet_o their_o own_o fear_n so_o damp_n their_o heart_n that_o make_v they_o question_v that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o but_o the_o ground_n of_o it_o be_v their_o own_o fear_n as_o the_o ground_n of_o the_o wicked_a in_o think_v their_o estate_n be_v good_a be_v from_o their_o own_o opinion_n so_o the_o people_n of_o god_n many_o time_n from_o their_o own_o conceit_n and_o opinion_n rather_o than_o from_o the_o word_n think_v their_o estate_n be_v bad_a take_v this_o rule_n as_o you_o must_v receive_v no_o comfort_n but_o out_o of_o the_o word_n so_o you_o must_v not_o receive_v any_o trouble_n but_o from_o the_o word_n when_o you_o receive_v trouble_v any_o other_o way_n you_o do_v not_o consider_v that_o god_n have_v lay_v your_o estate_n so_o high_a that_o all_o your_o trouble_n depend_v on_o nothing_o but_o the_o word_n and_o therefore_o answer_v all_o with_o scripture_n when_o the_o devil_n cast_v temptation_n before_o thou_o bid_v he_o prove_v that_o thy_o estate_n be_v not_o good_a from_o the_o word_n i_o have_v this_o out_o of_o the_o word_n to_o prove_v it_o be_v so_o and_o thou_o have_v nothing_o to_o the_o contrary_a in_o other_o thing_n you_o will_v not_o be_v baffle_v as_o in_o your_o evidence_n for_o your_o estate_n suppose_v a_o man_n come_v and_o lie_v claim_v unto_o it_o although_o you_o can_v perhaps_o make_v out_o your_o title_n clear_a yet_o you_o will_v bid_v he_o prove_v the_o contrary_a and_o show_v what_o ground_n he_o have_v to_o lay_v claim_n to_o it_o it_o be_v not_o the_o clamour_n and_o talk_v of_o other_o man_n that_o will_v make_v you_o quit_v your_o hold_n or_o satisfy_v you_o that_o it_o be_v never_o right_o you_o but_o let_v the_o devil_n come_v and_o clamour_v against_o your_o soul_n and_o you_o be_v ready_a to_o join_v with_o he_o and_o say_v it_o be_v so_o indeed_o i_o be_o a_o hypocrite_n and_o i_o have_v no_o true_a grace_n nor_o spiritual_a life_n my_o soul_n be_v under_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o dominion_n of_o sin_n still_o how_o unworthy_a do_v you_o carry_v it_o to_o the_o bless_a spirit_n of_o god_n and_o all_o the_o grace_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n that_o have_v be_v manifest_v and_o make_v know_v unto_o you_o concern_v the_o pardon_n of_o your_o sin_n how_o unbefitting_a be_v it_o that_o on_o every_o clamour_n of_o satan_n and_o stir_v of_o corruption_n in_o your_o own_o heart_n that_o you_o shall_v raze_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o your_o comfort_n by_o call_v all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n present_o into_o question_n many_o a_o poor_a creature_n that_o find_v by_o evidence_n out_o of_o the_o word_n that_o their_o estate_n be_v good_a they_o go_v away_o cheerful_a but_o if_o the_o next_o day_n there_o be_v any_o stir_n of_o corruption_n they_o let_v go_v all_o and_o raze_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o their_o comfort_n walk_v not_o so_o unworthy_a of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n depend_v upon_o the_o word_n as_o for_o your_o trouble_n so_o for_o your_o comfort_n as_o you_o be_v not_o comfort_v with_o any_o thing_n but_o from_o what_o the_o word_n of_o god_n speak_v to_o you_o so_o be_v discourage_v with_o nothing_o but_o where_o you_o find_v the_o word_n of_o god_n against_o you_o the_o five_o rule_n be_v this_o when_o at_o any_o time_n you_o be_v put_v to_o seek_v your_o evidence_n and_o can_v find_v they_o the_o best_a way_n be_v rather_o to_o renew_v than_o to_o spend_v time_n in_o find_v of_o the_o old_a as_o suppose_v any_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v search_v out_o such_o evidence_n for_o salvation_n which_o they_o have_v before_o and_o can_v find_v they_o it_o may_v be_v they_o be_v pore_v upon_o their_o own_o heart_n for_o such_o and_o such_o work_n as_o they_o have_v have_v heretofore_o and_o can_v find_v they_o and_o so_o be_v ready_a to_o conclude_v that_o all_o be_v naught_o and_o lie_v down_o as_o people_n disconsolate_a because_o their_o condition_n be_v not_o good_a they_o can_v find_v such_o evidence_n as_o heretofore_o they_o have_v now_o in_o this_o case_n the_o best_a way_n be_v if_o i_o can_v find_v my_o evidence_n or_o the_o use_n of_o they_o i_o have_v before_o to_o renew_v they_o the_o time_n i_o spend_v in_o seek_v and_o discourage_v of_o my_o heart_n if_o i_o spend_v it_o in_o act_n and_o work_n of_o my_o heart_n after_o god_n for_o the_o renew_n of_o my_o evidence_n perhaps_o i_o may_v have_v renew_v they_o in_o that_o time_n as_o in_o matter_n between_o man_n and_o woman_n in_o this_o world_n they_o have_v evidence_n that_o will_v clear_v the_o matter_n in_o difference_n but_o perhaps_o they_o can_v find_v they_o or_o they_o be_v grow_v so_o old_a that_o they_o can_v read_v they_o and_o they_o spend_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n about_o they_o whereas_o possible_o do_v they_o go_v to_o the_o court_n of_o roles_n they_o may_v have_v they_o renew_v with_o less_o charge_n and_o time_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n when_o it_o can_v find_v such_o and_o such_o evidence_n it_o spend_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n and_o sit_v down_o in_o discouragement_n and_o disquietness_n of_o heart_n when_o as_o perhaps_o in_o less_o time_n thou_o may_v have_v renew_v they_o as_o thus_o suppose_v thou_o be_v look_v after_o this_o evidence_n of_o thy_o call_v for_o god_n call_v who_o he_o justify_v now_o thou_o be_v look_v after_o thy_o call_n and_o thou_o be_v trouble_v that_o thou_o do_v not_o remember_v how_o god_n do_v work_v upon_o thy_o heart_n then_o or_o heretofore_o and_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n be_v spend_v can_v you_o find_v how_o it_o be_v with_o you_o then_o no_o then_o fall_v upon_o this_o course_n listen_v to_o thy_o soul_n do_v not_o i_o now_o find_v the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o i_o do_v not_o i_o find_v he_o now_o draw_v of_o my_o heart_n out_o of_o the_o world_n unto_o himself_o and_o do_v not_o my_o heart_n listen_v unto_o this_o call_n for_o the_o call_v of_o god_n be_v not_o only_o at_o first_o conversion_n but_o god_n be_v always_o call_v and_o draw_v the_o heart_n from_o the_o world_n unto_o himself_o if_o thou_o can_v not_o make_v use_n of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n heretofore_o make_v use_n of_o his_o present_a work_n upon_o thou_o again_o those_o who_o god_n justify_v they_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o god_n for_o it_o be_v by_o way_n of_o covenant_n as_o i_o tell_v you_o they_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o god_n in_o a_o everlasting_a covenant_n but_o when_o do_v i_o come_v into_o covenant_n with_o god_n i_o be_o afraid_a i_o be_o not_o the_o man_n or_o woman_n in_o covenant_n with_o god_n i_o can_v remember_v any_o such_o work_n perhaps_o thy_o heart_n sink_v down_o within_o thou_o because_o thou_o can_v not_o clear_v up_o this_o work_n of_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o god_n heretofore_o now_o the_o time_n that_o thou_o spend_v in_o seek_v after_o this_o work_n spend_v it_o in_o enter_v now_o into_o covenant_n with_o god_n at_o this_o present_a time_n it_o will_v be_v no_o hindrance_n to_o thou_o that_o thou_o can_v not_o find_v what_o be_v heretofore_o if_o now_o at_o this_o present_a thou_o can_v surrender_v up_o thyself_o to_o god_n in_o a_o everlasting_a covenant_n this_o be_v enough_o do_v it_o now_o if_o you_o can_v find_v your_o heart_n now_o come_v in_o and_o yield_v up_o yourselves_o into_o covenant_n with_o god_n you_o may_v have_v the_o comfort_n of_o this_o evidence_n as_o full_o as_o if_o you_o clear_o remember_v all_o the_o former_a transaction_n and_o the_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o you_o in_o your_o first_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o god_n again_o those_o that_o have_v their_o sin_n pardon_v i_o tell_v you_o be_v bring_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n but_o you_o will_v say_v i_o can_v remember_v how_o i_o be_v translate_v take_v now_o upon_o you_o the_o sceptre_n of_o jesus_n christ_n many_o trouble_n themselves_o say_v i_o never_o find_v such_o humiliation_n and_o trouble_n for_o sin_n as_o you_o speak_v of_o or_o as_o other_o have_v find_v how_o be_v it_o now_o with_o your_o soul_n do_v you_o find_v sin_n now_o a_o burden_n to_o your_o soul_n be_v it_o not_o the_o great_a affliction_n if_o you_o be_v put_v to_o your_o choice_n have_v you_o not_o rather_o suffer_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n than_o sin_n against_o god_n and_o not_o only_o out_o of_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n but_o because_o you_o find_v a_o frame_n of_o spirit_n in_o your_o heart_n suitable_a thereunto_o for_o a_o hypocrite_n he_o may_v have_v conviction_n of_o conscience_n but_o the_o frame_n of_o his_o spirit_n be_v not_o suit_v thereunto_o in_o you_o there_o be_v a_o frame_n of_o spirit_n suitable_a to_o the_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n within_o you_o though_o you_o can_v remember_v you_o have_v have_v such_o sorrow_n and_o trouble_n in_o conviction_n for_o sin_n as_o other_o have_v have_v while_o they_o be_v under_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n yet_o you_o may_v be_v comfort_v by_o the_o present_a frame_n of_o spirit_n that_o you_o have_v and_o so_o in_o the_o like_a case_n if_o you_o can_v find_v your_o old_a evidence_n fall_v to_o work_v to_o renew_v your_o evidence_n and_o do_v not_o spend_v time_n in_o lie_v down_o under_o the_o discouragement_n of_o your_o own_o heart_n the_o six_o rule_n be_v this_o when_o you_o examine_v yourselves_o to_o find_v out_o your_o evidence_n carry_v this_o think_v along_o with_o you_o that_o you_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o this_o will_v be_v of_o marvellous_a use_n unto_o you_o perhaps_o to_o some_o these_o be_v very_o dry_a thing_n and_o they_o see_v but_o little_a in_o they_o and_o scarce_o know_v what_o they_o be_v but_o i_o hope_v there_o be_v many_o other_o that_o have_v knowledge_n of_o a_o eternal_a state_n to_o be_v between_o god_n and_o their_o soul_n i_o hope_v i_o speak_v thing_n will_v be_v very_o precious_a to_o they_o yea_o i_o say_v unto_o many_o of_o you_o for_o while_o i_o be_o in_o this_o argument_n i_o be_o speak_v to_o such_o as_o have_v have_v the_o fear_n of_o god_n fall_v upon_o their_o heart_n and_o they_o have_v make_v it_o the_o great_a business_n of_o their_o life_n above_o all_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n to_o know_v how_o term_n be_v between_o god_n and_o their_o soul_n to_o know_v how_o it_o stand_v with_o they_o for_o their_o everlasting_a estate_n i_o know_v abundance_n of_o people_n scarce_o ever_o call_v these_o thing_n in_o question_n to_o who_o these_o rule_n will_v be_v of_o little_a or_o no_o use_n at_o all_o but_o if_o i_o speak_v to_o some_o or_o any_o one_o trouble_a soul_n to_o help_v and_o direct_v they_o though_o i_o do_v no_o good_a to_o other_o i_o shall_v think_v my_o time_n well_o spend_v wherefore_o then_o in_o your_o examination_n ever_o carry_v this_o with_o you_o that_o you_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o not_o in_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n certain_o that_o many_o be_v so_o trouble_v in_o their_o conscience_n about_o their_o eternal_a estate_n it_o be_v on_o this_o ground_n because_o they_o look_v upon_o god_n in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n if_o they_o find_v any_o corruption_n stir_v and_o break_v forth_o and_o temptation_n strong_a upon_o they_o they_o think_v present_o all_o be_v naught_o and_o that_o god_n will_v never_o accept_v of_o they_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n if_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n the_o least_o stir_v of_o corruption_n it_o be_v enough_o to_o cast_v the_o soul_n down_o into_o eternal_a horror_n as_o adam_n though_o he_o have_v never_o so_o much_o goodness_n before_o by_o the_o image_n of_o god_n upon_o he_o yet_o one_o sin_n eternal_o cast_v he_o if_o there_o have_v not_o come_v in_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n now_o though_o people_n will_v acknowledge_v there_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n yet_o upon_o the_o stir_n of_o their_o corruption_n they_o carry_v it_o as_o that_o it_o serve_v for_o no_o other_o use_n than_o if_o they_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o covenant_n of_o grace_n at_o all_o now_o what_o a_o dishonour_n be_v this_o to_o the_o riches_n of_o god_n goodness_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o tell_v we_o we_o be_v not_o to_o be_v judge_v for_o our_o eternal_a estate_n by_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o he_o that_o must_v be_v our_o judge_n for_o our_o eternal_a condition_n be_v our_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n and_o tell_v we_o also_o that_o god_n accept_v of_o the_o uprightness_n and_o the_o sincerity_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o that_o the_o want_n of_o perfection_n shall_v never_o damn_v thy_o soul_n he_o that_o stand_v before_o the_o lord_n to_o make_v atonement_n and_o to_o be_v our_o advocate_n to_o plead_v with_o the_o father_n for_o we_o he_o it_o be_v that_o must_v be_v the_o judge_n of_o our_o eternal_a estate_n and_o therefore_o when_o i_o set_v myself_o before_o the_o lord_n i_o consider_v that_o i_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o he_o in_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n suppose_v i_o find_v and_o feel_v such_o and_o such_o corruption_n and_o weakness_n in_o i_o be_v it_o not_o possible_a that_o my_o estate_n be_v happy_a by_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n collect_v yourselves_o and_o say_v why_o do_v i_o determine_v of_o my_o everlasting_a condition_n have_v i_o to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o can_v these_o imperfection_n stand_v with_o it_o why_o do_v i_o make_v such_o conclusion_n that_o my_o state_n be_v naught_o because_o of_o the_o stir_n of_o such_o and_o such_o corruption_n the_o doubt_n and_o fear_n of_o most_o christian_n arise_v from_o hence_o because_o they_o have_v not_o a_o clear_a understanding_n of_o the_o difference_n between_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n will_v so_o satisfy_v the_o conscience_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n so_o as_o a_o clear_a understanding_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n many_o people_n cry_v out_o of_o the_o preacher_n that_o they_o disquiet_v and_o trouble_v the_o heart_n of_o people_n by_o their_o preach_a the_o truth_n be_v no_o preacher_n occasion_n so_o much_o the_o trouble_n and_o perplexity_n of_o conscience_n as_o those_o that_o
in_o thou_o i_o say_v unto_o thou_o in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n be_v of_o good_a comfort_n thy_o sin_n be_v pardon_v god_n will_v show_v good_a unto_o thou_o when_o this_o world_n be_v end_v thou_o be_v one_o that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v bring_v into_o his_o kingdom_n and_o set_v up_o his_o throne_n in_o thy_o heart_n and_o therefore_o thou_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v take_v thou_o at_o last_o into_o his_o everlasting_a kingdom_n four_o where_o god_n forgive_v he_o give_v much_o giving_z follows_z forgive_a god_n never_o forgive_v any_o but_o he_o give_v much_o to_o that_o soul_n who_o he_o forgive_v as_o in_o that_o case_n when_o the_o apostle_n preach_v the_o doctrine_n of_o forgiveness_n and_o pardon_n of_o sin_n the_o holy_a ghost_n fall_v upon_o they_o so_o certain_o where_o the_o preach_v of_o pardon_n of_o sin_n have_v power_n through_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n over_o a_o soul_n god_n give_v much_o to_o that_o soul_n and_o there_o be_v three_o thing_n especial_o that_o god_n give_v present_o unto_o the_o soul_n who_o he_o pardon_v which_o have_v all_o be_v mention_v before_o in_o open_v the_o blessedness_n of_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v but_o mention_v they_o now_o to_o strengthen_v this_o note_n of_o trial_n 1._o have_v god_n forgive_v thou_o then_o he_o have_v give_v his_o spirit_n to_o enlighten_v thou_o in_o the_o great_a mystery_n of_o salvation_n thou_o plead_v thou_o be_v ignorant_a and_o be_v not_o book-learned_n if_o god_n have_v so_o great_a a_o favour_n for_o thou_o as_o to_o pardon_v thy_o sin_n he_o will_v give_v thou_o understanding_n in_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n jer._n 31.34_o where_o god_n pardon_v sin_n they_o shall_v have_v this_o mercy_n to_o be_v teach_v of_o he_o 2._o god_n will_v give_v this_o unto_o thou_o he_o will_v write_v his_o law_n in_o thy_o heart_n that_o be_v he_o will_v work_v in_o thy_o heart_n a_o suitable_a frame_n and_o disposition_n to_o vile_a before_o yet_o be_v justify_v there_o be_v a_o lustre_n in_o their_o conversation_n that_o convince_v parent_n and_o governor_n and_o make_v they_o see_v a_o apparent_a difference_n between_o
