impossible_a that_o good_a work_n shall_v proceed_v from_o a_o evil_a faith_n or_o that_o a_o good_a faith_n shall_v not_o produce_v good_a work_n good_a work_n be_v a_o necessary_a dependence_n upon_o a_o good_a faith_n this_o aught_o to_o provoke_v all_o man_n to_o a_o emulation_n of_o godly_a exercise_n to_o contend_v to_o exceed_v in_o holy_a action_n and_o to_o square_v and_o fashion_v all_o their_o work_n by_o their_o faith_n note_n note_n and_o to_o make_v every_o act_n of_o they_o a_o testimony_n that_o they_o be_v true_o faithful_a for_o he_o that_o be_v not_o with_o we_o be_v against_o we_o and_o those_o work_n of_o we_o that_o witness_v not_o for_o we_o will_v be_v witness_n against_o we_o and_o will_v condemn_v we_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o all_o man_n that_o our_o faith_n be_v not_o good_a or_o not_o at_o all_o and_o that_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o justify_v neither_o can_v be_v save_v this_o may_v judge_v all_o those_o action_n of_o man_n that_o salvation_n this_o aught_o to_o move_v all_o man_n to_o a_o faithful_a acknowledgement_n of_o god_n love_n who_o only_o be_v the_o principal_a and_o first_o move_v cause_n in_o every_o circumstance_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o that_o we_o do_v acknowledge_v ourselves_o in_o great_a humility_n to_o be_v altogether_o defective_a and_o unable_a in_o the_o work_n of_o our_o own_o salvation_n and_o that_o every_o grace_n in_o we_o be_v
that_o as_o he_o have_v perform_v the_o law_n in_o all_o sincerity_n and_o righteousness_n so_o we_o shall_v endeavour_v a_o strict_a imitation_n of_o his_o virtuous_a do_n for_o such_o faith_n only_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o be_v prove_v by_o the_o testimony_n of_o holy_a life_n faith_n work_v the_o testimony_n of_o faith_n and_o have_v the_o shall_v then_o acknowledge_v our_o defect_n and_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n when_o we_o examine_v the_o particular_n of_o our_o life_n and_o compare_v they_o with_o our_o duty_n we_o shall_v acknowledge_v the_o neglect_n of_o our_o endeavour_n and_o that_o we_o have_v fail_v not_o only_o in_o the_o main_a performance_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n which_o our_o nature_n can_v not_o perform_v but_o in_o our_o desire_n and_o careful_a endeavour_n to_o do_v well_o law_n the_o effect_n in_o the_o reprobate_n issue_v from_o the_o meditation_n of_o the_o law_n which_o our_o nature_n may_v and_o from_o this_o meditation_n do_v necessary_o follow_v one_o of_o these_o two_o effect_n in_o the_o reprobate_n and_o graceless_a it_o cause_v desperation_n and_o a_o hopeless_a distrust_n of_o their_o salvation_n for_o when_o the_o devil_n and_o their_o conscience_n expose_v before_o they_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n the_o severity_n of_o his_o law_n and_o the_o infinite_a measure_n of_o their_o offence_n the_o extreme_a terror_n and_o sense_n of_o their_o wickedness_n do_v so_o confound_v their_o understanding_n that_o often_o they_o execute_v upon_o themselves_o torment_n and_o death_n despise_v and_o despair_v of_o the_o mercy_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o who_o if_o they_o have_v repose_v trust_n regenerate_v the_o effect_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o regenerate_v believe_v and_o apprehend_v his_o righteousness_n their_o sin_n have_v not_o be_v impute_v neither_o have_v their_o soul_n perish_v but_o in_o the_o child_n of_o grace_n this_o meditation_n do_v produce_v a_o contrary_a effect_n for_o when_o they_o by_o the_o law_n understand_v the_o misery_n whereinto_o their_o sin_n have_v bring_v they_o it_o cause_v in_o they_o a_o wonderful_a degree_n of_o fear_n but_o not_o desperate_a for_o though_o the_o devil_n present_v their_o sin_n in_o most_o ugly_a form_n and_o urge_v they_o to_o a_o desperate_a apprehension_n yet_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o they_o do_v withstand_v this_o temptation_n temptation_n god_n support_v the_o elect_a against_o temptation_n and_o give_v they_o holy_a motion_n to_o devise_v the_o mean_n of_o their_o salvation_n present_v they_o in_o their_o spiritual_a sorrow_n with_o the_o mercy_n and_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n then_o give_v they_o grace_n to_o understand_v the_o mystery_n of_o his_o death_n and_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o imputation_n of_o his_o righteousness_n which_o when_o the_o grieve_a sinner_n understand_v he_o allay_v and_o mitigate_v his_o sorrow_n and_o affi_v in_o the_o mediation_n and_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n his_o redeemer_n law_n the_o divers_a effect_n of_o the_o law_n thus_o the_o law_n produce_v contrary_a effect_n in_o contrary_a spirit_n it_o damn_v the_o reprobate_n without_o hope_n it_o condemn_v the_o elect_n but_o not_o damn_v they_o but_o instruct_v and_o give_v he_o hope_v they_o it_o judge_v without_o mercy_n these_fw-mi it_o teach_v admonish_v and_o
