leave_v they_o lose_v the_o truth_n and_o go_v beyond_o it_o while_o they_o affect_v some_o new_a discovery_n of_o it_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o case_n here_o for_o through_o christ_n at_o his_o ascension_n enter_v into_o his_o place_n of_o rest_n yet_o the_o place_n be_v but_o a_o accidental_a thing_n to_o christ_n rest_n itself_o the_o state_n of_o which_o be_v begin_v in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o resurrection_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n to_o prefer_v that_o which_o be_v but_o accidental_a above_o that_o which_o be_v most_o substantial_a or_o the_o day_n of_o entrance_n into_o the_o place_n of_o his_o rest_n in_o his_o ascension_n before_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n in_o his_o resurrection_n beside_o it_o be_v very_o uncertain_a whether_o christ_n ascend_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n we_o be_v certain_a that_o he_o arise_v then_o and_o why_o we_o shall_v build_v such_o a_o vast_a change_n upon_o a_o uncertainty_n i_o know_v not_o and_o yet_o suppose_v that_o by_o deduction_n and_o strength_n of_o wit_n â—t_z may_v be_v find_v out_o yet_o we_o see_v not_o the_o holy_a ghost_n express_o set_v it_o down_o viz._n that_o christ_n ascend_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n which_o if_o he_o have_v intend_v to_o have_v make_v the_o ground_n of_o our_o christian_a sabbath_n he_o will_v sure_o have_v do_v the_o first_o day_n in_o the_o week_n be_v ever_o account_v the_o lord_n day_n in_o holy_a scripture_n and_o no_o other_o first_o day_n do_v we_o find_v mention_v on_o which_o he_o ascend_v but_o only_o on_o that_o day_n wherein_o he_o arise_v from_o the_o dead_a thesis_n 14._o and_o look_v as_o christ_n be_v a_o lamb_n slay_v from_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n meritorious_o but_o not_o actual_o so_o he_o be_v also_o rise_v again_o in_o the_o like_a manner_n from_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n meritorious_o but_o not_o actual_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o look_v as_o god_n the_o father_n actual_o institute_v no_o sabbath_n day_n until_o he_o have_v actual_o finish_v his_o work_n of_o creation_n so_o neither_o be_v it_o meet_v that_o this_o day_n shall_v be_v change_v until_o christ_n jesus_n have_v actual_o finish_v and_o not_o meritorious_o only_a the_o work_n of_o redemption_n or_o restoration_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o church_n before_o christ_n come_v might_n have_v good_a reason_n to_o sanctify_v that_o day_n which_o be_v institute_v upon_o the_o actual_a finish_n of_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n and_o yet_o may_v have_v no_o reason_n to_o observe_v our_o christian_a sabbath_n the_o work_n of_o restoration_n and_o new_a creation_n and_o rest_n from_o it_o not_o be_v then_o so_o much_o as_o actual_o begin_v thesis_n 15._o whether_o our_o saviour_n appoint_v that_o first_o individual_a day_n of_o his_o resurrection_n to_o be_v the_o first_o christian_a sabbath_n be_v somewhat_o difficult_a to_o determine_v and_o i_o will_v not_o tie_v knot_n and_o leave_v they_o for_o other_o to_o unloose_v this_o only_a i_o aim_v at_o that_o although_o the_o first_o individual_a day_n of_o christ_n resurrection_n shall_v not_o possible_o be_v the_o first_o individual_a sabbath_n yet_o still_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o ground_n of_o the_o institution_n of_o the_o sabbath_n which_o one_o consideration_n dash_v all_o those_o device_n of_o some_o man_n head_n who_o puzzle_n their_o reader_n with_o many_o intricacy_n and_o difficulty_n in_o show_v that_o the_o first_o day_n of_o christ_n resurrection_n can_v not_o be_v the_o first_o sabbath_n and_o thence_o will_v infer_v that_o the_o day_n of_o his_o resurrection_n be_v not_o the_o ground_n of_o the_o institution_n of_o the_o sabbath_n which_o inference_n be_v most_o false_a for_o it_o be_v easy_a with_o christ_n to_o make_v that_o great_a work_n on_o this_o day_n to_o be_v the_o ground_n
or_o evil_n without_o some_o law_n for_o then_o there_o shall_v be_v some_o sin_n which_o be_v not_o the_o transgression_n of_o a_o law_n and_o some_o obedience_n which_o be_v not_o direct_v by_o any_o law_n both_o which_o be_v impossible_a and_o abominable_a 3._o he_o make_v moral_a law_n by_o external_a imposition_n and_o constitution_n only_o to_o be_v such_o as_o before_o the_o external_a imposition_n of_o they_o be_v a_o diaphorous_a and_o good_a or_o evil_n only_o by_o reason_n of_o some_o circumstance_n when_o as_o we_o know_v that_o some_o such_o law_n as_o be_v most_o entire_o moral_a yet_o in_o respect_n of_o their_o inward_a nature_n general_o consider_v they_o be_v indifferent_a also_o for_o not_o to_o kill_v and_o take_v away_o man_n life_n be_v a_o moral_a law_n entire_o so_o yet_o in_o the_o general_a nature_n of_o it_o it_o be_v indifferent_a and_o by_o circumstance_n may_v become_v either_o lawful_a or_o unlawful_a lawful_a in_o case_n of_o war_n or_o public_a execution_n of_o justice_n unlawful_a out_o of_o a_o private_a spirit_n and_o personal_a revenge_n in_o one_o word_n the_o whole_a drift_n of_o his_o discourse_n herein_o be_v to_o show_v that_o the_o sabbath_n be_v not_o moral_a and_o this_o he_o will_v prove_v because_o the_o sabbath_n be_v not_o simple_o and_o entire_o moral_a which_o be_v a_o most_o feeble_a and_o weak_a consequence_n and_o this_o he_o prove_v because_o the_o sabbath_n day_n have_v in_o respect_n of_o its_o inward_a nature_n no_o more_o holiness_n and_o goodness_n than_o any_o other_o day_n all_o the_o day_n of_o the_o week_n be_v equal_o good_a by_o creation_n but_o he_o may_v well_o know_v that_o the_o day_n be_v not_o the_o law_n of_o the_o four_o commandment_n but_o the_o keep_n holy_a of_o the_o sabbath_n day_n which_o be_v a_o thing_n inward_o good_a and_o entire_o moral_a if_o we_o speak_v of_o some_o day_n ibid._n nay_o say_v the_o bishop_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n teach_v that_o some_o sufficient_a and_o convenient_a time_n be_v set_v apart_o for_o god_n worship_n if_o therefore_o some_o day_n be_v moral_a although_o all_o day_n by_o creation_n be_v indifferent_a and_o equal_a according_a to_o his_o own_o confession_n what_o then_o shall_v hinder_v the_o quota_fw-la pars_fw-la or_o the_o seven_o part_n of_o time_n from_o be_v moral_a will_v he_o say_v because_o then_o we_o shall_v show_v that_o this_o be_v most_o false_a and_o feeble_a in_o the_o sequel_n thesis_n 25._o there_o be_v therefore_o four_o rule_n to_o guide_v our_o judgement_n aright_o herein_o whereby_o we_o may_v know_v when_o a_o law_n be_v suitable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o humane_a nature_n and_o consequent_o good_a in_o itself_o which_o will_v be_v sufficient_a to_o clear_v up_o the_o law_n of_o the_o sabbath_n to_o be_v true_o moral_a whether_o in_o a_o high_a or_o low_a degree_n of_o morality_n it_o make_v no_o matter_n and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o law_n mere_o temporary_a and_o ceremonial_a 1._o such_o law_n as_o necessary_o flow_v from_o natural_a relation_n both_o between_o god_n and_o man_n as_o well_o as_o between_o man_n and_o man_n these_o be_v good_a in_o themselves_o because_o suitable_a and_o congruous_a to_o humane_a nature_n for_o there_o be_v a_o decency_n and_o sweet_a comeliness_n to_o attend_v to_o those_o rule_n to_o which_o our_o relation_n bind_v we_o for_o from_o this_o ground_n the_o prophet_n malachy_n call_v for_o fear_n and_o honour_n of_o god_n as_o moral_a duty_n because_o they_o be_v so_o comely_a and_o seemly_a for_o we_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o relation_n between_o we_o if_o i_o be_v your_o lord_n and_o master_n and_o father_n where_o be_v my_o fear_n where_o be_v my_o honour_n mal._n 1.6_o love_v also_o between_o man_n and_o wife_n be_v press_v as_o a_o comely_a duty_n by_o the_o apostle_n from_o that_o near_a relation_n between_o they_o be_v make_v one_o flesh_n ephes._n 5.28_o 29._o there_o be_v scarce_o any_o who_o question_n the_o morality_n of_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o second_o table_n because_o they_o be_v so_o evident_o comely_a suitable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o humane_a nature_n consider_v relative_o as_o man_n stand_v in_o relation_n to_o those_o who_o be_v or_o shall_v be_v unto_o he_o as_o his_o own_o flesh_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v to_o honour_v superior_n and_o therefore_o must_v not_o kill_v nor_o steal_v nor_o lie_v nor_o covet_v nor_o defile_v the_o flesh_n etc._n etc._n but_o the_o morality_n of_o all_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o first_o table_n be_v not_o see_v so_o evident_o because_o the_o relation_n between_o god_n and_o man_n which_o make_v they_o comely_a and_o suitable_a to_o man_n be_v not_o so_o well_o consider_v for_o if_o there_o be_v a_o god_n and_o this_o god_n be_v our_o god_n according_a to_o the_o first_o commandment_n then_o it_o be_v very_o comely_a and_o meet_v for_o man_n to_o honour_n love_n fear_v he_o delight_n trust_v in_o he_o etc._n etc._n and_o if_o this_o god_n must_v be_v worship_v of_o man_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o mutual_a relation_n between_o they_o then_o it_o be_v comely_a and_o meet_a to_o worship_v he_o with_o his_o own_o worhsip_n according_a to_o the_o second_o commandment_n and_o to_o worship_v he_o with_o all_o holy_a reverence_n according_a to_o the_o three_o commandment_n and_o if_o he_o must_v be_v thus_o worship_v and_o yet_o at_o all_o time_n in_o respect_n of_o our_o necessary_a worldly_a employment_n can_v be_v so_o solemn_o honour_v and_o worship_v as_o be_v comely_a and_o meet_a for_o so_o great_a a_o god_n then_o it_o be_v very_o fit_a and_o comely_a for_o all_o man_n to_o have_v some_o set_v and_o state_v time_n of_o worship_n according_a to_o some_o fit_a proportion_n which_o the_o lord_n of_o time_n only_o can_v best_o make_v and_o therefore_o a_o seven_o part_n of_o time_n which_o he_o do_v make_v according_a to_o the_o four_o commandment_n 2._o such_o law_n be_v draw_v from_o the_o imitable_a attribute_n and_o work_n of_o god_n be_v congruous_a and_o suitable_a to_o man_n nature_n for_o what_o great_a comeliness_n can_v there_o be_v or_o what_o can_v be_v more_o suitable_a to_o that_o nature_n which_o be_v immediate_o make_v for_o god_n then_o to_o be_v like_a unto_o god_n and_o to_o attend_v unto_o those_o rule_n which_o guide_v thereunto_o hence_o to_o be_v merciful_a to_o man_n in_o misery_n to_o forgive_v our_o enemy_n and_o those_o that_o do_v we_o wrong_n to_o be_v bountiful_a to_o those_o that_o be_v in_o want_n to_o be_v patient_a when_o we_o suffer_v evil_a be_v all_o moral_a duty_n because_o they_o be_v comely_a and_o suitable_a to_o man_n and_o that_o because_o herein_o he_o resemble_v and_o be_v make_v like_o unto_o god_n hence_o to_o labour_v six_o day_n and_o rest_v a_o leventh_n be_v a_o moral_a because_o a_o comely_a and_o suitable_a duty_n that_o because_o herein_o man_n follow_v the_o example_n of_o god_n and_o become_v most_o like_a unto_o he_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o a_o seven_o year_n of_o rest_n can_v be_v urge_v upon_o man_n to_o be_v as_o much_o moral_a as_o a_o seven_o day_n of_o rest_n because_o man_n have_v god_n example_n and_o pattern_n in_o rest_v a_o seven_o day_n but_o not_o in_o rest_v any_o seven_o year_n god_n never_o make_v himself_o a_o example_n of_o any_o ceremonial_a duty_n it_o be_v unsuitable_a to_o his_o glorious_a excellency_n so_o to_o do_v but_o only_o of_o moral_a and_o spiritual_a holiness_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v somewhat_o else_o in_o a_o seven_o day_n that_o be_v not_o in_o a_o seven_o year_n and_o it_o be_v utter_o false_a to_o think_v as_o some_o do_v that_o there_o be_v as_o much_o equity_n for_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o one_o as_o there_o be_v of_o the_o other_o and_o here_o by_o the_o way_n may_v be_v see_v a_o gross_a mistake_n of_o mr._n primrose_n 15._o who_o will_v make_v god_n example_n herein_o not_o to_o be_v moral_o imitable_a of_o we_o nor_o man_n necessary_o bind_v thereunto_o it_o be_v not_o natural_o and_o in_o respect_n of_o itself_o imitable_a but_o only_o because_o it_o please_v god_n to_o command_v man_n so_o to_o do_v as_o also_o because_o this_o action_n of_o god_n do_v not_o flow_v from_o such_o attribute_n of_o god_n as_o be_v in_o their_o nature_n imitable_a as_o mercy_n bounty_n etc._n etc._n but_o from_o one_o of_o those_o attribute_n as_o be_v not_o imitable_a
these_o thing_n because_o command_v let_v he_o then_o quit_v himself_o from_o hypocrisy_n and_o himself_o from_o be_v a_o deep_a hypocrite_n in_o all_o these_o if_o he_o can_v sure_o those_o who_o strain_n at_o this_o gnat_n viz._n not_o to_o do_v a_o duty_n because_o command_v will_v make_v no_o bone_n of_o swallow_v down_o this_o camel_n viz._n not_o to_o forsake_v sin_n because_o it_o be_v forbid_v and_o whosoever_o shall_v forsake_v sin_n from_o any_o other_o ground_n show_v manifest_o hereby_o that_o he_o have_v little_a conscience_n of_o god_n command_n i_o know_v the_o love_n of_o christ_n shall_v make_v a_o christian_a forsake_v every_o sin_n but_o the_o last_o resolution_n and_o reason_n thereof_o be_v because_o his_o love_n forbid_v we_o to_o continue_v in_o sin_n for_o to_o
