success_n and_o who_o be_v so_o void_a of_o all_o natural_a sense_n but_o though_o he_o be_v not_o himself_o endue_v with_o the_o excellency_n of_o righteousness_n yet_o he_o apprehend_v in_o his_o mind_n the_o divine_a brightness_n thereof_o and_o great_o admire_v it_o and_o wish_n for_o it_o with_o all_o his_o heart_n if_o wish_n in_o this_o case_n can_v do_v any_o good_a inherent_a of_o the_o whole_a disputation_n i_o be_o not_o willing_a at_o present_a to_o discover_v to_o you_o what_o i_o find_v here_o lest_o in_o what_o i_o say_v i_o shall_v seem_v to_o exceed_v the_o bound_n of_o that_o modesty_n which_o here_o i_o profess_v but_o yet_o that_o i_o may_v say_v something_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o truth_n to_o which_o i_o be_o more_o oblige_v because_o of_o necessity_n manner_n of_o work_v which_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o law_n exercise_n in_o other_o if_o you_o consider_v the_o effect_n and_o end_n of_o both_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n for_o though_o christ_n be_v no_o otherwise_o just_a in_o himself_o than_o the_o law_n itself_o be_v holy_a and_o just_a but_o yet_o this_o which_o be_v call_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n act_n in_o we_o much_o otherwise_o than_o that_o which_o be_v call_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n so_o that_o nothing_o seem_v more_o unlike_a or_o more_o contrary_a the_o difference_n between_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n first_o as_o touch_v the_o law_n what_o the_o nature_n virtue_n and_o law_n efficacy_n thereof_o be_v it_o be_v unknown_a to_o no_o man_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v of_o itself_o a_o holy_a and_o perfect_a rule_n and_o mistress_n to_o teach_v how_o to_o lead_v the_o life_n make_v for_o this_o purpose_n by_o justify_v lie_v altogether_o in_o faith_n and_o not_o at_o all_o in_o repentance_n for_o the_o just_a judge_n do_v not_o absolve_v he_o who_o have_v violate_v his_o justice_n because_o he_o be_v grieve_v upon_o that_o account_n but_o because_o he_o believe_v in_o christ_n who_o have_v satisfy_v justice_n and_o for_o who_o sake_n pardon_n be_v promise_v to_o such_o as_o repent_v for_o in_o the_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n let_v we_o observe_v how_o those_o sophister_n cloud_n and_o darken_v it_o with_o their_o vain_a jangle_n for_o whereas_o the_o apostle_n argue_v on_o this_o manner_n from_o the_o rule_n of_o contrary_n if_o it_o be_v of_o grace_n than_o it_o be_v not_o of_o work_n but_o if_o it_o be_v of_o work_n than_o it_o be_v not_o of_o grace_n etc._n etc._n if_o the_o inheritance_n be_v by_o the_o law_n than_o it_o be_v not_o of_o the_o promise_n etc._n etc._n and_o again_o 3._o distinguish_v between_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o so_o divide_v the_o one_o from_o the_o other_o that_o difference_n appear_v evident_a of_o the_o righteousness_n that_o come_v by_o the_o law_n say_v the_o apostle_n the_o law_n itself_o speak_v on_o this_o manner_n he_o that_o 10._o do_v these_o thing_n shall_v live_v in_o they_o but_o what_o say_v he_o of_o the_o righteousness_n that_o be_v of_o faith_n if_o thou_o confess_v with_o thy_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o believe_v with_o thy_o heart_n that_o god_n raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a thou_o shall_v be_v save_v what_o be_v more_o believer_n and_o provoke_v they_o to_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v honest_a and_o agreeable_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n which_o work_v of_o charity_n when_o god_n crown_v and_o reward_v they_o in_o we_o they_o be_v not_o so_o much_o our_o work_n as_o his_o gift_n for_o they_o be_v not_o our_o work_n or_o perform_v by_o any_o strength_n of_o our_o own_o but_o they_o be_v the_o work_n of_o papist_n god_n which_o we_o perform_v by_o his_o help_n and_o they_o shall_v be_v whole_o attribute_v to_o his_o grace_n whence_o also_o they_o ofttimes_o be_v call_v in_o the_o scripture_n by_o the_o name_n of_o divine_a grace_n as_o paul_n also_o bear_v witness_n of_o himself_o say_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n i_o be_o what_o i_o be_o for_o this_o grace_n of_o work_v not_o be_v attain_v unto_o by_o
