most_o foolish_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o paul_n say_v the_o word_n of_o the_o same_o cross_n of_o jesus_n be_v the_o power_n of_o god_n to_o life_n to_o they_o who_o believe_v it_o be_v the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n the_o great_a wisdom_n and_o power_n that_o any_o faithful_a soul_n can_v feel_v be_v the_o cross_n which_o be_v foolishness_n to_o the_o world_n and_o they_o think_v all_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n to_o be_v but_o foolishness_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o mean_a portion_n of_o that_o wisdom_n what_o mean_v this_o wisdom_n preach_v by_o weak_a man_n of_o the_o cross_n of_o a_o crucify_a man_n which_o convoy_v life_n into_o the_o soul_n it_o mean_v this_o that_o the_o crucify_a man_n be_v the_o god_n of_o glory_n therefore_o hold_v fast_o this_o ground_n and_o then_o thou_o shall_v find_v power_n come_v from_o he_o to_o quicken_v thy_o dead_a soul_n and_o through_o his_o death_n thou_o shall_v get_v life_n if_o he_o have_v not_o die_v for_o ever_o we_o shall_v enter_v into_o the_o way_n to_o get_v his_o presence_n christian_n religion_n stand_v not_o so_o much_o in_o curiosity_n or_o in_o speech_n as_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o heart_n &_o in_o a_o practise_n of_o that_o love_n of_o the_o heart_n in_o the_o life_n and_o conversation_n the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o the_o four_o chap._n to_o the_o ephes_n vers_fw-la 22.24_o because_o he_o not_o see_v himself_o think_v himself_o as_o good_a as_o any_o other_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n to_o the_o tongue_n to_o cloak_n the_o filth_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o hypocrite_n and_o what_o will_v his_o hand_n be_v do_v then_o it_o will_v be_v utter_v itself_o in_o a_o filthy_a life_n so_o take_v not_o up_o the_o disposition_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n or_o woman_n by_o the_o tongue_n but_o by_o the_o hand_n for_o the_o hand_n will_v say_v to_o the_o tongue_n tongue_n thou_o lie_v john_n 1._o epist_n chap._n 2._o verse_n 4._o if_o any_o say_v i_o know_v god_n and_o keep_v not_o his_o command_n he_o be_v a_o liar_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v not_o in_o he_o and_o again_o chap._n 4._o verse_n 20._o if_o any_o man_n say_v i_o love_v god_n and_o hate_v to_o hear_v the_o lord_n speak_v and_o then_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o faithful_a will_v receive_v it_o with_o joy_n and_o practice_v it_o away_o with_o all_o the_o word_n of_o man_n of_o all_o creature_n of_o all_o angel_n they_o can_v be_v a_o solid_a ground_n to_o our_o faith_n neither_o can_v the_o authoritv_n of_o the_o church_fw-mi be_v a_o ground_n to_o our_o faith_n albeit_o the_o foolish_a papist_n affirm_v that_o the_o cause_n wherefore_o we_o believe_v the_o scripture_n be_v because_o the_o kirke_n say_v it_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o except_o the_o scripture_n bare_a witness_n of_o the_o self_n that_o it_o be_v of_o god_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n true_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o kirke_n can_v never_o make_v we_o believe_v nor_o persuade_v we_o the_o doctor_n sound_v never_o so_o long_o in_o the_o ear_n if_o the_o inward_a concur_v not_o the_o word_n shall_v do_v no_o good_a and_o except_o that_o spirit_n open_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o see_v and_o open_v the_o heart_n as_o he_o open_v the_o heart_n of_o lydia_n act._n chap._n 16._o vers_fw-la 14._o to_o receive_v that_o seed_n of_o the_o word_n the_o heart_n shall_v be_v as_o a_o close_a book_n and_o hard_a than_o it_o be_v of_o before_o mark_v another_o thing_n the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n will_v not_o accompany_v the_o word_n at_o all_o time_n no_o not_o in_o let_v not_o the_o minister_n leave_v off_o to_o preach_v and_o let_v not_o the_o people_n leave_v off_o to_o hear_v but_o let_v ever_o the_o sâ—ede_n be_v sow_v and_o let_v ever_o the_o heart_n away_o without_o some_o effect_n he_o say_v the_o holy_a spirit_n shall_v teach_v they_o all_o thing_n we_o know_v he_o who_o teach_v be_v call_v a_o teacher_n yet_o when_o he_o say_v the_o holy_a spirit_n shall_v teach_v he_o call_v he_o not_o a_o teacher_n but_o a_o comforter_n because_o all_o his_o doctrine_n tend_v to_o consolation_n there_o be_v no_o comfortable_a doctrine_n but_o that_o doctrine_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n inward_o work_v in_o the_o soul_n we_o will_v say_v man_n will_v teach_v comfortable_a doctrine_n but_o all_o the_o comfortable_a doctrine_n we_o hear_v proceed_v mediator_n the_o spirit_n and_o all_o his_o grace_n flow_v till_o we_o from_o the_o father_n but_o mediatelie_o through_o the_o son_n as_o a_o mediate_a person_n there_o come_v not_o a_o grace_n till_o we_o but_o through_o the_o son_n all_o power_n be_v give_v to_o he_o and_o through_o he_o immediate_o all_o joy_n be_v convoy_v to_o the_o creature_n the_o jew_n and_o pagan_n pass_v over_o teach_v any_o thing_n to_o the_o heart_n but_o that_o which_o be_v write_v in_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n yea_o more_o true_a faith_n will_v drink_v in_o none_o other_o thing_n but_o that_o which_o be_v within_o this_o compass_n of_o the_o word_n and_o if_o thou_o drink_v in_o any_o other_o thing_n than_o this_o i_o affirm_v before_o god_n thou_o never_o have_v true_a faith_n let_v no_o
