communion_n that_o devotion_n be_v either_o external_a namely_o that_o we_o do_v sober_o and_o reverent_o approach_v unto_o this_o holy_a action_n in_o regard_n of_o our_o outward_a gesture_n or_o internal_a and_o principal_a which_o consist_v in_o these_o four_o point_n first_o that_o thou_o render_v unto_o christ_n most_o devout_a and_o hearty_a thanks_o for_o that_o his_o passion_n and_o death_n which_o for_o thy_o sake_n he_o suffer_v and_o sustain_v second_o that_o thou_o take_v the_o sacred_a bread_n do_v make_v sure_a thy_o faith_n and_o appropriate_v unto_o thyself_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n passion_n and_o so_o of_o the_o break_n of_o his_o body_n upon_o the_o cross_n cherish_v and_o strengthen_v thy_o conscience_n with_o that_o assurance_n and_o then_o take_v the_o wine_n that_o thou_o bethink_v with_o thyself_o how_o that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v shed_v for_o thy_o sin_n and_o so_o withal_o reviue_v and_o fill_v with_o joy_n thy_o droop_a conscience_n truth_n of_o his_o holy_a word_n and_o be_v pious_o transform_v unto_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o understand_v so_o that_o we_o may_v not_o in_o any_o thing_n displease_v his_o heavenly_a majesty_n most_o concise_a method_n and_o way_n of_o preparation_n i_o make_v bold_a to_o consecrate_v unto_o your_o name_n and_o that_o in_o a_o double_a respect_n first_o in_o regard_n of_o your_o honour_n great_a goodwill_n and_o bounty_n to_o my_o uncle_n my_o lord_n and_o your_o ladyship_n servant_n of_o who_o set_v aside_o the_o affection_n of_o a_o kinsman_n i_o dare_v say_v thus_o much_o without_o flattery_n that_o he_o be_v one_o that_o true_o fear_v god_n and_o be_v faithful_a in_o all_o his_o business_n second_o in_o regard_n of_o your_o honour_n great_a affection_n to_o the_o gospel_n and_o exceed_v good_a respect_n towards_o the_o ministry_n thereof_o which_o do_v make_v your_o name_n renown_v over_o the_o whole_a land_n now_o and_o will_v make_v your_o memory_n bless_v hereafter_o the_o holy_a communion_n we_o must_v diligent_o and_o careful_o sift_v and_o examine_v ourselves_o first_o the_o subject_n of_o our_o examination_n be_v ourselves_o and_o not_o other_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v let_v every_o man_n examine_v himself_o and_o so_o let_v he_o eat_v etc._n etc._n 1._o cor._n 11.28_o second_o the_o matter_n wherein_o our_o examination_n must_v chief_o consist_v presuppose_v our_o general_a and_o particular_a knowledge_n be_v of_o three_o sort_n the_o first_o be_v as_o touch_v our_o repentance_n the_o second_o concern_v our_o faith_n the_o three_o be_v about_o our_o charity_n touch_v our_o repentance_n thus_o we_o can_v choose_v but_o know_v our_o conscience_n witness_v unto_o we_o how_o grievous_o we_o do_v daily_o offend_v against_o god_n holy_a statute_n both_o in_o thought_n word_n and_o deed_n wherefore_o we_o see_v our_o hideous_a sin_n and_o misdeed_n for_o which_o if_o god_n in_o his_o justice_n will_v deal_v with_o we_o sin_n we_o may_v expect_v nothing_o but_o destruction_n and_o damnation_n let_v we_o enter_v into_o the_o closert_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o see_v whether_o we_o find_v ourselves_o inward_o sorry_a for_o
