every_o king_n in_o the_o possession_n of_o the_o realm_n and_o last_o we_o allow_v of_o no_o other_o absolution_n from_o our_o former_a oath_n than_o that_o which_o casuist_n of_o all_o persuasion_n do_v admit_v of_o viz._n by_o the_o cessation_n of_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o oath_n king_n james_n now_o cease_v to_o be_v king_n in_o possession_n and_o so_o in_o the_o law_n sense_n to_o be_v our_o king._n 5thly_a 6._o n._n 6._o we_o may_v also_o retain_v our_o old_a sense_n and_o exposition_n of_o st._n paul_n and_o peter_n viz._n that_o the_o present_a power_n which_o by_o the_o law_n be_v such_o be_v they_o such_o as_o due_o use_v or_o do_v abuse_v the_o power_n commit_v to_o they_o such_o as_o according_a to_o their_o duty_n be_v the_o minister_n of_o god_n for_o good_a or_o such_o as_o prove_v eventual_o the_o encourager_n of_o evil_a doer_n be_v still_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o he_o that_o do_v resist_v they_o shall_v receive_v to_o himself_o damnation_n and_o be_v not_o by_o our_o principle_n oblige_v to_o restrain_v their_o word_n unto_o such_o prince_n as_o be_v in_o fact_n as_o well_o as_o duty_n the_o minister_n of_o god_n for_o good_a but_o only_o to_o such_o prince_n as_o by_o the_o tenor_n of_o our_o law_n become_v our_o sovereign_a lord_n however_o they_o demean_v themselves_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o the_o government_n and_o so_o we_o be_v not_o concern_v in_o these_o objection_n against_o the_o other_o interpretation_n 1._o that_o it_o rather_o seem_v to_o make_v the_o discourse_n of_o these_o apostle_n a_o exemption_n from_o subjection_n and_o obedience_n to_o the_o then_o present_a power_n and_o a_o allowance_n to_o they_o than_o any_o obligation_n to_o be_v subject_a and_o obedient_a to_o they_o they_o be_v not_o in_o fact_n as_o well_o as_o duty_n the_o minister_n of_o god_n for_o good_a but_o most_o unnatural_o and_o barbarous_o cruel_a of_o a_o most_o savage_a bloody_a temper_n as_o be_v record_v in_o the_o roman_a history_n touch_v tiberius_n claudius_n caligula_n and_o nero_n or_o if_o such_o person_n be_v to_o be_v obey_v without_o resistance_n as_o be_v the_o minister_n of_o god_n for_o good_a who_o then_o may_v be_v resist_v for_o not_o be_v so_o 2._o it_o plain_o seem_v to_o lay_v upon_o the_o bless_a apostle_n the_o imputation_n of_o dissimulation_n and_o act_v not_o according_a to_o that_o simplicity_n and_o plainness_n as_o may_v have_v reasonable_o be_v expect_v from_o the_o discpenser_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o without_o any_o limitation_n or_o exception_n they_o require_v every_o christian_a soul_n to_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o high_a power_n for_o conscience_n sake_n and_o upon_o pain_n of_o damnation_n never_o to_o resist_v they_o they_o declare_v to_o the_o heathen_a world_n that_o christianity_n require_v all_o its_o professor_n how_o ill_o soever_o they_o be_v treat_v how_o cruel_o soever_o they_o be_v persecute_v how_o wrongful_o soever_o they_o do_v suffer_v from_o they_o to_o suffer_v with_o the_o great_a patience_n and_o never_o to_o take_v up_o the_o sword_n for_o their_o defence_n against_o they_o but_o after_o the_o example_n of_o their_o lord_n when_o they_o thus_o suffer_v not_o to_o revile_v
