covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o sanctification_n be_v a_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n than_o may_v it_o well_o be_v say_v that_o to_o evidence_n one_o by_o the_o other_o be_v a_o turn_n aside_o from_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n to_o that_o other_o of_o work_n but_o when_o they_o be_v both_o promise_v both_o communicate_v to_o we_o by_o the_o same_o covenant_n there_o be_v no_o colour_n to_o charge_v this_o way_n of_o evidence_v our_o estate_n with_o turn_v aside_o to_o another_o covenant_n object_n but_o may_v not_o a_o man_n that_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n by_o give_v himself_o to_o holy_a duty_n and_o action_n and_o exercise_v himself_o in_o they_o come_v to_o attain_v a_o habit_n of_o holiness_n and_o be_v true_o sanctify_v answ_n some_o have_v not_o doubt_v to_o affirm_v as_o much_o but_o false_o and_o the_o falsity_n of_o this_o opinion_n may_v be_v make_v evident_a by_o these_o consideration_n follow_v 1._o this_o opinion_n import_v thus_o much_o that_o one_o under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n may_v perform_v act_n that_o be_v holy_a which_o be_v false_a he_o may_v indeed_o do_v such_o thing_n as_o be_v material_o holy_a as_o be_v command_v of_o god_n who_o word_n and_o covenant_n do_v sanctify_v they_o &_o make_v the_o thing_n holy_a in_o themselves_o but_o they_o be_v not_o formal_o holy_a but_o come_v from_o their_o impure_a heart_n thereby_o they_o be_v pollute_v and_o defile_v tit._n 1._o and_o therefore_o can_v have_v no_o such_o power_n to_o work_v sanctity_n in_o the_o subject_n whence_o they_o come_v 2._o if_o true_a sanctification_n may_v be_v in_o one_o that_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n then_o must_v we_o of_o necessity_n change_v the_o article_n or_o promise_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n &_o make_v the_o promise_n of_o sanctification_n no_o part_n of_o it_o we_o must_v blot_v out_o those_o promise_n of_o write_v the_o law_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o put_v a_o new_a spirit_n within_o we_o and_o all_o other_o promise_n of_o the_o like_a nature_n must_v be_v raze_v out_o of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n if_o one_o under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n may_v attain_v to_o this_o sanctification_n by_o his_o own_o work_n 3._o this_o opinion_n be_v direct_o cross_v and_o contrary_a to_o the_o apostle_n in_o gal._n 3.2_o where_o he_o tell_v we_o that_o we_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o sanctification_n not_o by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n but_o by_o hear_v of_o faith_n preach_v it_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o grace_n not_o of_o work_n which_o make_v we_o partaker_n of_o this_o spirit_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o in_o 2_o cor._n 3.6_o he_o tell_v we_o that_o it_o be_v the_o new_a testament_n which_o be_v the_o ministration_n of_o the_o spirit_n by_o which_o
