respect_n of_o it_o to_o neglect_v the_o word_n preach_v be_v the_o contempt_n of_o god_n ordinance_n who_o have_v in_o great_a favour_n institute_v his_o minister_n to_o teach_v by_o the_o powerful_a preach_n of_o the_o word_n which_o work_v a_o more_o deep_a impression_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o hearer_n then_o of_o the_o reader_n for_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o word_n preach_v it_o be_v from_o god_n the_o ministry_n from_o the_o mouth_n of_o man_n who_o be_v the_o mouth_n of_o god_n he_o therefore_o that_o neglect_v or_o contemn_v the_o word_n preach_v neglect_v the_o mean_n of_o his_o salvation_n which_o be_v faith_n in_o christ_n jesus_n for_o faith_n come_v by_o hear_v and_o hear_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n preach_v it_o be_v not_o yet_o sufficient_a to_o hear_v the_o word_n but_o as_o marie_n lay_v up_o the_o word_n in_o her_o heart_n so_o must_v every_o profitable_a hearer_n retain_v the_o word_n in_o their_o mind_n permit_v it_o body_n so_o the_o word_n hear_v with_o the_o care_n and_o not_o convey_v into_o and_o retain_v in_o the_o heart_n yield_v no_o comfort_n unto_o the_o soul_n but_o rather_o work_v a_o kind_n of_o contempt_n by_o custom_n and_o a_o kind_n of_o loathe_v of_o the_o word_n as_o a_o matter_n without_o the_o which_o his_o soul_n may_v live_v for_o as_o that_o meat_n wherein_o the_o pallet_n have_v no_o feel_n of_o a_o please_a taste_n delight_v not_o the_o appetiâ—â—_n no_o more_o can_v that_o word_n which_o be_v not_o savoury_a and_o delightful_a to_o the_o soul_n be_v please_v or_o profitable_a to_o the_o outward_a ear_n and_o consequent_o nothing_o comfortable_a to_o the_o unfeeling_a soul_n but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o power_n of_o man_n by_o nature_n profitable_o or_o with_o comfort_n to_o hear_v much_o less_o to_o make_v true_a use_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n to_o open_v the_o ear_n which_o be_v common_a to_o the_o good_a and_o bad_a hearer_n but_o a_o work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o open_v and_o prepare_v the_o heart_n to_o receive_v the_o word_n and_o to_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o without_o the_o
