enmity_n and_o pain_n 23._o as_o the_o devil_n and_o fall_v man_n who_o be_v both_o of_o they_o go_v out_o of_o the_o light-world_n the_o devil_n into_o the_o abyss_n of_o the_o strong_a fierce_a wrathful_a may_v or_o power_n of_o or_o out_o of_o pride_n and_o man_n into_o this_o world_n into_o the_o mystery_n of_o much_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n viz_o into_o the_o wonder_n 24._o now_o man_n have_v necessity_n and_o strife_n that_o he_o may_v go_v out_o again_o and_o this_o world_n into_o which_o he_o be_v go_v hold_v he_o for_o it_o will_v have_v he_o and_o if_o he_o go_v out_o with_o might_n at_o any_o time_n it_o become_v enrage_v with_o he_o assault_v he_o and_o will_v not_o suffer_v he_o in_o itself_o 25._o hence_o it_o come_v that_o the_o child_n of_o this_o world_n hate_n and_o be_v at_o enmity_n do_v plague_n vex_v worry_v beat_v kill_v and_o drive_v the_o child_n of_o light_n from_o they_o for_o the_o spirit_n of_o this_o world_n drive_v they_o to_o it_o to_o which_o also_o the_o devil_n help_v for_o he_o know_v that_o this_o world_n stand_v upon_o the_o abyss_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v get_v the_o child_n of_o this_o world_n in_o the_o break_n of_o this_o mystery_n into_o his_o kingdom_n and_o therefore_o he_o banish_v or_o drive_v the_o child_n of_o god_n from_o the_o child_n of_o this_o world_n that_o they_o bring_v not_o the_o child_n of_o this_o world_n also_o along_o with_o they_o into_o the_o light-world_n 26._o but_o if_o man_n have_v be_v create_v to_o this_o world_n he_o will_v let_v he_o well_o be_v at_o peace_n but_o he_o will_v fain_o continual_o possess_v his_o royal_a seat_n which_o he_o have_v and_o be_v thrust_v out_o from_o it_o and_o though_o he_o may_v by_o no_o mean_n attain_v it_o yet_o he_o can_v afford_v that_o to_o the_o child_n that_o shall_v possess_v it_o 27._o this_o be_v therefore_o now_o high_o to_o be_v consider_v by_o man_n and_o not_o to_o be_v so_o blind_a that_o though_o indeed_o man_n be_v enter_v into_o the_o mystery_n of_o this_o world_n he_o shall_v not_o so_o eager_o as_o a_o prisoner_n even_o enter_v into_o the_o earthly_a seek_v or_o malady_n of_o the_o shut_v up_o of_o death_n but_o shall_v be_v a_o apprehender_n and_o skilful_a knower_n of_o the_o mystery_n and_o not_o the_o devil_n owl_n and_o fool_n and_o shall_v with_o the_o imagination_n constant_o go_v forth_o again_o into_o the_o light-world_n to_o which_o he_o be_v create_v that_o the_o light_n may_v give_v he_o its_o glance_n or_o lustre_n that_o he_o may_v know_v himself_o and_o see_v the_o outward_a mystery_n and_o then_o he_o be_v a_o man._n 28._o but_o if_o not_o then_o he_o be_v a_o fool_n and_o a_o ape_n or_o mimic_n of_o the_o light-world_n as_o a_o ape_n will_v be_v witâ—y_a or_o full_a of_o trick_n and_o play_v with_o every_o thing_n and_o imitate_v every_o thing_n thus_o it_o be_v also_o with_o the_o earthly_a man_n which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o ape_n 29._o his_o juggle_a trick_n with_o the_o light-world_n when_o he_o press_v not_o thereinto_o with_o earnestness_n but_o play_v only_o therewith_o that_o the_o devil_n deride_v and_o hold_v he_o for_o a_o fool_n and_o so_o he_o be_v he_o be_v a_o beast-man_n so_o long_o as_o with_o his_o willing_a he_o hang_v to_o the_o outward_a and_o account_v this_o world_n good_a for_o his_o treasure_n he_o be_v but_o a_o man_n with_o this_o world_n substance_n and_o not_o with_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o divine_a light_a world_n and_o he_o give_v his_o body_n to_o this_o world_n that_o be_v to_o the_o earth_n and_o his_o soul_n to_o the_o abyss_n of_o the_o dark-world_n 30._o thus_o understand_v the_o tree_n of_o the_o three_o principle_n agree_v very_o well_o one_o in_o another_o but_o the_o creature_n not_o for_o the_o creature_n of_o each_o principle_n desire_v not_o those_o of_o the_o other_o and_o therefore_o also_o there_o be_v a_o fast_a sluice_n or_o gulf._n or_o lock_v bar_n cliffe_n or_o gulf._n enclosure_n between_o they_o so_o that_o one_o can_v nor_o shall_v not_o see_v the_o other_o 31._o only_o the_o devil_n envy_n strive_v against_o mankind_n for_o they_o have_v possess_v his_o seat_n therefore_o all_o the_o stress_n lie_v in_o this_o o_o man_n seek_v thyself_o see_v what_o thou_o be_v have_v a_o care_n and_o beware_v of_o the_o devil_n thus_o much_o concern_v the_o second_o point_n how_o the_o three_o principle_n can_v agree_v and_o unite_v one_o with_o the_o other_o the_o three_o point_n the_o four_o chapter_n of_o the_o original_a of_o contrariety_n in_o the_o sprout_n or_o vegetation_n in_o that_o the_o life_n be_v strive_v in_o itself_o 1._o a_o thing_n that_o be_v one_o that_o have_v only_o one_o willing_a it_o strive_v not_o against_o itself_o but_o where_o there_o be_v many_o willing_n in_o one_o thing_n there_o they_o be_v strive_v for_o every_o one_o will_v go_v its_o conceive_a and_o apprehend_v way_n 2._o but_o if_o one_o be_v lord_n of_o the_o other_o so_o that_o it_o have_v full_a power_n over_o the_o other_o so_o that_o it_o can_v break_v it_o or_o subdue_v it_o when_o it_o will_v not_o be_v obedient_a there_o the_o multiplicity_n of_o a_o thing_n subsi_v in_o one_o substance_n for_o the_o multiplicity_n of_o the_o willing_a give_v itself_o altogether_o in_o obedience_n to_o its_o lord_n 3._o thus_o also_o it_o be_v in_o the_o contrariety_n of_o the_o life_n for_o the_o life_n stand_v in_o many_o willing_n every_o essence_n may_v produce_v a_o willing_a and_o do_v produce_v it_o also_o for_o harsh_a astringency_n bitter_a anguish_n and_o soureness_n be_v each_o of_o they_o contrary_a source_n each_o of_o which_o have_v its_o property_n and_o altogether_o contrary_a against_o one_o another_o 4._o also_o the_o fire_n be_v a_o enemy_n to_o all_o the_o other_o for_o it_o set_v every_o source_n in_o great_a anguish_n so_o that_o there_o be_v great_a contrariety_n between_o they_o the_o one_o always_o be_v at_o enmity_n with_o the_o other_o as_o be_v to_o be_v see_v in_o heat_n and_o cold_a also_o in_o water_n and_o fire_n in_o life_n and_o death_n 5._o in_o like_a manner_n the_o life_n of_o man_n be_v at_o enmity_n with_o itself_o one_o form_n of_o disposition_n be_v at_o enmity_n with_o the_o other_o in_o all_o creature_n unless_o that_o the_o form_n or_o condition_n of_o the_o life_n get_v a_o meek_a amiable_a lord_n under_o who_o subjection_n it_o must_v be_v which_o can_v break_v its_o authority_n and_o willing_a 6._o that_o be_v the_o light_n of_o life_n that_o be_v the_o lord_n of_o all_o form_n or_o constitution_n it_o can_v subdue_v they_o all_o they_o must_v all_o give_v up_o their_o willing_a to_o the_o light_n and_o they_o do_v it_o also_o ready_o for_o the_o light_n give_v they_o meekness_n and_o power_n so_o that_o its_o stern_a harsh_a bitter_a anxious_a form_n become_v altogether_o charge_v into_o amiableness_n they_o give_v up_o their_o willing_n altogether_o to_o the_o light_n of_o life_n and_o the_o light_n give_v they_o meekness_n 7._o thus_o the_o multiplicity_n become_v change_v into_o one_o into_o one_o willing_a and_o that_o be_v call_v the_o mind_n and_o be_v the_o wellspring_n where_o the_o one_o only_a will_n can_v create_v out_o of_o it_o evil_a and_o good_a which_o be_v do_v through_o imagination_n or_o through_o representation_n of_o a_o thing_n that_o be_v evil_n or_o good_a and_o so_o
be_v the_o property_n of_o that_o thing_n capable_a of_o the_o same_o property_n in_o the_o life_n 8._o the_o life_n property_n catch_v or_o receive_v the_o property_n of_o the_o thing_n represent_v be_v it_o either_o a_o word_n or_o a_o work_n and_o kindle_v itself_o therewith_o in_o itself_o and_o also_o the_o other_o form_n of_o the_o life_n therewith_o so_o that_o they_o begin_v to_o qualify_v or_o operate_v and_o every_o property_n burn_v in_o its_o source_n or_o quality_n to_o love_n or_o anger_n all_o according_a to_o the_o represent_v substance_n whatsoever_o the_o imagination_n catch_v or_o captivate_v that_o it_o introduce_v into_o the_o mind_n 9_o now_o therefore_o if_o the_o mind_n thus_o kindle_v itself_o in_o a_o form_n or_o conditon_n so_o it_o kindle_v the_o whole_a spirit_n and_o body_n and_o bring_v instant_o its_o imagination_n into_o the_o innermost_a fire_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o awaken_v the_o innermost_a centre_n of_o nature_n 10._o which_o if_o it_o become_v kindle_v in_o the_o fierce_a wrath_n or_o love_n than_o 〈◊〉_d â—â—eiveth_v or_o comprehend_v itself_o in_o all_o the_o seven_o form_n of_o nature_n 〈◊〉_d catch_v and_o grasp_v after_o the_o soul_n willing-spirit_n wherein_o the_o noble_a image_n stand_v wherein_o god_n open_v himself_o 11._o and_o so_o they_o bring_v their_o kindle_a fire_n thereinto_o as_o in_o fire_n be_v to_o be_v see_v in_o what_o matter_n soever_o the_o same_o burn_v such_o a_o shine_a lustre_n also_o it_o give_v forth_o as_o in_o flame_a brimstone_n be_v to_o be_v apprehend_v compare_v with_o the_o flame_a wood_n and_o so_o in_o many_o other_o thing_n thus_o we_o understand_v by_o this_o that_o as_o the_o source_n quality_n and_o property_n be_v which_o the_o fire_n get_v such_o also_o in_o the_o light_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o light_n 12._o since_o than_o our_o noble_a image_n of_o god_n stand_v in_o the_o light_n of_o life_n in_o the_o soul_n fire_n therefore_o it_o be_v high_o apprehensible_a to_o we_o how_o the_o soul_n will_v spirit_n destroy_v the_o noble_a image_n and_o become_v kindle_v in_o the_o fâ—â—â—e_n wrathful_a source_n or_o quality_n also_o often_o in_o the_o love_n source_n or_o quality_n 13._o we_o see_v also_o herein_o our_o great_a danger_n and_o misery_n and_o do_v underderstand_v wherefore_o christ_n have_v teach_v we_o patience_n love_n and_o meekness_n viz_o that_o the_o soul_n fire_n kindle_v not_o itself_o in_o fierce_a wrath_n nor_o give_v other_o cause_n that_o they_o kindle_v their_o soul_n fire_n in_o fierce_a wrath_n that_o god_n kingdom_n be_v not_o hinder_v 14._o and_o herein_o we_o apprehend_v our_o hard_a and_o heavy_a fall_n in_o that_o adam_n have_v introduce_v earthly_a matter_n into_o our_o soul_n fire_n which_o burn_v so_o often_o as_o but_o one_o source_n or_o quality_n in_o the_o centre_n become_v awaken_v in_o the_o fierce_a wrathful_a property_n 15._o and_o so_o we_o see_v how_o thus_o we_o lie_v in_o god_n fierce_a wrath_n between_o anger_n and_o love_n captive_a in_o great_a danger_n and_o offer_v this_o high_o to_o be_v apprehend_v 16._o you_o know_v how_o we_o have_v mention_v above_o and_o often_o in_o all_o our_o book_n how_o out_o of_o the_o fire_n the_o light_n go_v viz_o another_o principle_n and_o yet_o it_o have_v the_o fire_n property_n and_o power_n for_o the_o fire_n centre_n give_v it_o to_o the_o light_n centre_n 17._o and_o how_o the_o light_n be_v also_o desirous_a and_o have_v a_o matrix_fw-la of_o a_o shine_v or_o long_v seek_v which_o impregnate_v itself_o in_o the_o desire_n with_o the_o power_n of_o the_o light_n viz_o with_o the_o meekness_n of_o the_o light_n in_o this_o impregnation_n stand_v the_o substance_n of_o the_o light_n that_o be_v in_o the_o pure_a love_n of_o the_o divine_a substance_n 18._o also_o it_o be_v intimate_v how_o the_o fire_n draw_v that_o substance_n into_o itself_o and_o use_v it_o to_o its_o light_n essence_n &_o devour_v it_o into_o itself_o but_o give_v forth_o out_o of_o the_o essence_n another_o spirit_n which_o be_v not_o fire_n for_o the_o fire_n give_v forth_o out_o of_o the_o essence_n another_o spirit_n which_o be_v not_o fire_n for_o the_o fire_n give_v forth_o two_o spirit_n 1._o one_o fierce_a wrathful_a consume_v out_o of_o the_o fierce_a wrath_n viz_o of_o the_o fire_n matter_n property_n 2._o one_o air-spirit_n which_o be_v of_o the_o light_n meekness_n property_n 19_o and_o we_o be_v to_o ponder_v in_o what_o matter_n the_o first_o essence_n burn_v in_o what_o it_o have_v kindle_v itself_o in_o love-fire_n light_a fire_n out_o of_o itself_o and_o also_o such_o a_o spirit_n out_o of_o the_o light_a 〈◊〉_d 20._o now_o if_o the_o first_o fire_v matter_n be_v good_a wherein_o the_o fire_n burneâ—â—_n then_o have_v the_o second_o light_n fire_n also_o a_o good_a property_n favour_n and_o soâ—â—â—â—_n or_o quality_n and_o give_v forth_o also_o a_o good_a powerful_a lovely_a amiable_a light_n and_o out_o of_o the_o light_n centre_n a_o good_a powerful_a spirit_n this_o be_v the_o similitude_n of_o god_n the_o noble_a image_n 21._o but_o if_o the_o first_o fire_n in_o its_o essence_n be_v evil_a and_o burn_v in_o a_o evil_a matter_n then_o also_o be_v the_o life_n light_n a_o false_a source_n or_o quality_n and_o a_o dim_a dusky_a shine_a as_o be_v to_o be_v see_v in_o a_o brimstone_n light_n and_o that_o same_o desirous_a centre_n of_o the_o light_n also_o bring_v forth_o out_o of_o its_o property_n such_o a_o matter_n into_o its_o fire_n and_o that_o fire_n give_v also_o forth_o such_o a_o spirit_n out_o of_o itself_o 22._o and_o now_o it_o be_v apprehensible_a what_o spirit_n may_v attain_v the_o liberty_n of_o god_n or_o not_o for_o whatsoever_o soules-spirit_n or_o image_n have_v the_o dim_a dusky_a dark_a property_n in_o itself_o that_o can_v be_v capable_a of_o the_o clear_a light_n of_o spirit_n of_o or_o the_o spirit_n god_n also_o if_o it_o have_v the_o fierce_a wrathful_a property_n in_o itself_o it_o can_v unite_v itself_o with_o the_o meekness_n of_o god_n and_o with_o its_o qualify_a or_o operate_n 23._o for_o the_o fierce_a wrath_n be_v enmity_n against_o the_o love_n and_o meekness_n love_n let_v not_o the_o fierce_a wrath_n into_o itself_o and_o so_o now_o they_o be_v separate_v the_o love_n thrust_v the_o fierce_a wrath_n away_o from_o itself_o and_o that_o desire_v no_o more_o the_o love_n property_n 24._o for_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o fire_n give_v forth_o the_o spirit_n out_o of_o itself_o than_o it_o be_v perfect_a and_o sever_v itself_o in_o its_o own_o property_n whether_o it_o be_v a_o light-spirit_n or_o a_o dark_a fierce_a wrathful_a brimstone_n spirit_n in_o that_o same_o essence_n from_o whence_o it_o be_v go_v forth_o it_o desire_v to_o be_v again_o for_o it_o be_v its_o property_n whether_o it_o be_v in_o love_n or_o enmity_n to_o the_o love_n 25._o thus_o now_o we_o understand_v what_o spirit_n or_o soul_n live_v in_o the_o source_n or_o quality_n of_o enmity_n and_o how_o the_o enmity_n originate_v or_o raise_v up_o itself_o so_o that_o a_o life_n be_v at_o enmity_n with_o itself_o viz_o out_o of_o the_o fâ—st_n matter_n to_o the_o life_n light_n 26._o the_o cause_n stand_v in_o the_o wheel_n of_o nature_n in_o the_o seven_o spirit_n or_o form_n which_o have_v each_o of_o they_o its_o property_n and_o in_o which_o property_n soever_o the_o mind_n become_v kindle_v such_o a_o property_n the_o soul_n fire_v together_o with_o the_o willing_a spirit_n get_v which_o then_o also_o sudden_o labour_v after_o substance_n and_o do_v how_o it_o may_v fall_v to_o work_v upon_o that_o which_o the_o will_v spirit_n be_v impregnate_v with_o 27._o now_o it_o be_v therefore_o necessary_a to_o break_v the_o first_o the_o or_o first_o earthly_a willing_n power_n and_o to_o slay_v the_o old_a evil_a adam_n and_o bring_v his_o will_n spirit_n with_o compulsion_n authority_n or_o power_n out_o of_o the_o evil_n or_o wickedness_n for_o here_o in_o this_o time_n it_o may_v be_v do_v while_o the_o three_o principle_n together_o with_o thâ—_n water_n which_o give_v meekness_n cleave_v to_o the_o centre_n of_o the_o inward_a world_n or_o nature_n and_o as_o it_o be_v hold_v it_o captive_a in_o its_o source_n or_o quality_n 28._o but_o when_o the_o soul_n will-spirit_n viz_o the_o inward_a light_n centre_n break_v off_o from_o the_o outward_a and_o continue_v alone_o than_o the_o soul_n spirit_n continue_v in_o its_o property_n 29._o for_o there_o be_v little_a remedy_n imlesse_a the_o will-spirit_n have_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o outward_a life_n turn_v itself_o about_o into_o god_n love_n
