testify_v our_o belief_n in_o the_o most_o sacred_a trinity_n and_o our_o acknowledgement_n of_o that_o infinite_a love_n and_o goodness_n which_o every_o one_o of_o those_o divine_a person_n have_v manifest_v to_o we_o we_o repeat_v that_o incomparable_a hymn_n glory_n be_v to_o the_o father_n etc._n etc._n our_o heart_n be_v thus_o raise_v up_o to_o god_n in_o praise_v and_o admire_v of_o he_o we_o be_v now_o in_o a_o fit_a temper_n and_o disposition_n to_o hear_v what_o he_o shall_v speak_v unto_o we_o and_o therefore_o have_v a_o chapter_n read_v out_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o use_n of_o edify_v that_o it_o may_v minister_v grace_n unto_o the_o hearer_n eph._n 4._o 29._o for_o from_o hence_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o that_o only_o be_v proper_o say_v to_o edify_v that_o minister_n grace_n unto_o we_o whereby_o we_o be_v make_v more_o pure_a and_o holy_a than_o we_o be_v before_o and_o therefore_o we_o read_v of_o edify_v ourselves_o in_o love_n eph._n 4._o 16._o say_v let_v all_o thing_n be_v do_v to_o edify_v his_o meaning_n in_o brief_a be_v this_o that_o in_o all_o our_o christian_a assembly_n when_o we_o meet_v together_o to_o worship_n and_o serve_v god_n all_o thing_n there_o be_v to_o be_v so_o do_v that_o we_o may_v return_v home_o wise_a and_o better_a than_o we_o come_v thither_o with_o our_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n increase_v our_o desire_n enlarge_v our_o love_n inflame_v our_o faith_n confirm_v all_o our_o grace_n quicken_v and_o so_o our_o whole_a soul_n make_v more_o humble_a more_o holy_a more_o like_a to_o god_n than_o they_o be_v before_o the_o word_n be_v thus_o brief_o explain_v i_o shall_v now_o apply_v they_o to_o our_o present_a purpose_n and_o show_v that_o that_o form_n of_o religious_a worship_n which_o be_v prescribe_v by_o our_o church_n establish_v by_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v use_v now_o in_o this_o place_n agree_v exact_o with_o this_o rule_n or_o canon_n of_o the_o holy_a apostle_n even_o that_o all_o thing_n in_o it_o be_v do_v to_o edify_v but_o before_o we_o prove_v that_o that_o form_n in_o particular_a which_o our_o church_n have_v prescribe_v be_v agreeable_a to_o this_o apostolical_a rule_n it_o be_v necessary_a to_o prove_v first_o that_o the_o prescribe_v a_o form_n in_o general_n be_v so_o for_o unless_o the_o prescribe_v a_o form_n in_o general_n be_v according_a to_o this_o rule_n no_o form_n in_o particular_a that_o be_v prescribe_v can_v possible_o agree_v with_o it_o but_o now_o that_o this_o rule_n admit_v yea_o require_v the_o prescribe_v of_o some_o form_n be_v evident_a from_o the_o rule_n itself_o for_o the_o apostle_n here_o command_v the_o church_n of_o corinth_n and_o so_o all_o provincial_a church_n to_o take_v care_n that_o in_o their_o religious_a assembly_n all_o thing_n be_v do_v to_o edify_v but_o how_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o any_o provincial_a church_n to_o see_v that_o this_o be_v do_v except_o she_o prescribe_v some_o certain_a form_n for_o the_o do_v of_o it_o if_o every_o minister_n of_o a_o parish_n shall_v be_v leave_v to_o his_o own_o liberty_n to_o do_v what_o he_o please_v in_o his_o own_o congregation_n although_o some_o perhaps_o may_v be_v so_o wise_a and_o prudent_a as_o to_o observe_v this_o rule_n as_o well_o as_o they_o can_v yet_o consider_v the_o corruption_n of_o humane_a nature_n we_o have_v much_o cause_n to_o fear_v that_o other_o will_v not_o at_o least_o the_o church_n can_v be_v no_o way_n secure_v that_o all_o will_v and_o therefore_o must_v needs_o be_v oblige_v to_o consider_v of_o and_o appoint_v some_o such_o form_n to_o be_v use_v in_o all_o her_o congregation_n by_o which_o she_o may_v be_v full_o assure_v that_o this_o apostolical_a rule_n be_v every_o where_o observe_v as_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v and_o although_o we_o shall_v suppose_v what_o can_v never_o be_v expect_v that_o all_o the_o clergy_n in_o every_o province_n shall_v be_v as_o wise_a and_o good_a as_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v yet_o it_o can_v be_v suppose_v that_o every_o one_o of_o they_o shall_v understand_v what_o be_v for_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o people_n as_o well_o as_o all_o together_o and_o therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v acknowledge_v that_o the_o sure_a way_n to_o have_v this_o rule_n observe_v be_v for_o the_o governor_n of_o every_o church_n and_o the_o whole_a clergy_n to_o meet_v together_o by_o their_o representative_n in_o a_o synod_n or_o convocation_n and_o there_o upon_o mature_a deliberation_n agree_v upon_o some_o such_o form_n which_o they_o in_o their_o prudence_n and_o conscience_n judge_v to_o be_v according_a to_o this_o rule_n which_o the_o apostle_n here_o lay_v down_o before_o they_o and_o beside_o that_o the_o prescribe_v a_o form_n in_o general_n be_v more_o for_o our_o edify_v than_o to_o leave_v every_o one_o to_o do_v what_o seem_v good_a in_o his_o
