second_o member_n some_o think_v that_o the_o prophet_n only_o repeat_v that_o which_o he_o say_v before_o and_o so_o expound_v foundation_n of_o generation_n because_o they_o have_v a_o long_a time_n be_v overthrow_v in_o regard_n these_o building_n be_v forthwith_o to_o be_v re-edify_v and_o set_v up_o but_o many_o impediment_n shall_v come_v between_o that_o shall_v cause_v the_o work_n to_o cease_v notwithstanding_o this_o may_v be_v refer_v to_o the_o time_n to_o come_v thus_o thou_o shall_v rear_v up_o the_o building_n which_o shall_v remain_v for_o a_o long_a space_n for_o he_o seem_v to_o promise_v unto_o the_o church_n such_o a_o estate_n as_o shall_v continue_v a_o long_a while_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v other_o building_n stand_v not_o long_o but_o this_o shall_v endure_v for_o many_o generation_n if_o any_o have_v rather_o refer_v it_o to_o the_o time_n past_a i_o gainsay_v he_o not_o and_o thou_o shall_v be_v call_v the_o prophet_n here_o comprehend_v two_o point_n first_o that_o the_o people_n shall_v resemble_v a_o ruinous_a building_n second_o that_o they_o shall_v short_o be_v build_v again_o but_o he_o attribute_n to_o the_o jew_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o repairer_n and_o director_n of_o the_o path_n in_o regard_n the_o lord_n shall_v use_v their_o service_n to_o that_o end_n we_o have_v here_o then_o a_o excellent_a promise_n namely_o that_o the_o ruin_n of_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v gather_v again_o together_o and_o repair_v now_o see_v the_o lord_n will_v use_v ourselves_o in_o this_o work_n let_v nothing_o hinder_v we_o from_o employ_v our_o whole_a service_n this_o way_n and_o albeit_o the_o world_n resist_v and_o scorn_v we_o as_o witless_a people_n yet_o let_v we_o be_v of_o good_a courage_n and_o overcome_v all_o these_o impediment_n for_o we_o must_v be_v valiant_a and_o bold_a when_o we_o know_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n work_n who_o have_v enjoin_v we_o thus_o to_o do_v verse_n 13._o if_o thou_o turn_v away_o thy_o foot_n from_o the_o sabbath_n from_o do_v thy_o will_n on_o my_o holy_a day_n and_o call_v the_o sabbath_n delight_n sabbath_n or_o delight_n a_o delight_n to_o consecrate_v it_o as_o glorious_a to_o the_o lord_n and_o shall_v honour_v he_o not_o do_v thy_o own_o way_n nor_o speak_v word_n speak_v or_o thy_o word_n a_o vain_a word_n some_o think_v the_o prophet_n have_v respect_n to_o the_o outward_a observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n because_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o travail_v on_o that_o day_n now_o howsoever_o i_o reject_v not_o this_o yet_o i_o take_v it_o that_o the_o sense_n have_v a_o large_a extent_n for_o under_o the_o figure_n synecdoche_n he_o signify_v the_o whole_a course_n of_o man_n life_n it_o be_v a_o thing_n well_o know_v to_o all_o that_o by_o walk_v our_o whole_a conversation_n be_v understand_v he_o say_v then_o if_o thou_o cease_v to_o follow_v thy_o own_o swinge_n if_o thou_o shut_v up_o all_o passage_n against_o thyself_o walk_v not_o whither_o thy_o fantasy_n lead_v thou_o etc._n etc._n for_o they_o be_v say_v to_o turn_v their_o foot_n from_o the_o sabbath_n who_o impose_v not_o this_o law_n upon_o themselves_o namely_o not_o to_o wander_v whither_o their_o unbridled_a lust_n will_v carry_v they_o now_o as_o before_o under_o the_o fast_o he_o comprehend_v all_o ceremony_n and_o show_v that_o these_o disguise_n in_o which_o they_o place_v their_o holiness_n be_v nothing_o but_o vain_a and_o unprofitable_a thing_n so_o in_o this_o place_n he_o show_v wherein_o the_o true_a observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n consist_v to_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v not_o think_v it_o to_o be_v in_o the_o outward_a rest_n from_o bodily_a labour_n but_o in_o the_o true_a renounce_n of_o ourselves_o that_o be_v in_o abstain_v from_o all_o wickedness_n violence_n voluptuousness_n and_o evil_a thought_n first_o by_o the_o word_n foot_n he_o mean_v their_o work_n for_o the_o jew_n dare_v not_o travail_v nor_o dress_v any_o flesh_n upon_o the_o sabbath_n day_n and_o yet_o they_o make_v no_o scruple_n at_o all_o to_o vex_v their_o poor_a neighbour_n and_o to_o scorn_v the_o afflict_a notwithstanding_o he_o come_v forthwith_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o will_n and_o word_n that_o he_o may_v comprehend_v all_o the_o part_n of_o that_o obedience_n which_o be_v due_a unto_o god_n the_o word_n delight_v aught_o to_o be_v refer_v unto_o god_n and_o not_o to_o man_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o which_o please_v he_o better_o or_o be_v more_o acceptable_a unto_o he_o then_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o his_o pure_a worship_n he_o careful_o repeat_v that_o man_n do_v much_o overshute_v themselves_o if_o they_o contemn_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o set_v up_o their_o unprofitable_a work_n in_o the_o stead_n thereof_o and_o also_o admonish_v we_o to_o suffer_v ourselves_o to_o be_v govern_v by_o his_o only_a will_n moreover_o he_o mention_n some_o particular_n whereby_o he_o show_v that_o the_o true_a observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n consist_v in_o the_o renounce_n of_o over_o self_n and_o in_o the_o conversion_n of_o the_o whole_a man_n and_o therefore_o he_o lay_v the_o will_n for_o the_o foundation_n that_o from_o thence_o may_v flow_v word_n and_o deed_n for_o we_o light_o utter_v the_o conception_n of_o our_o understanding_n and_o by_o our_o word_n we_o manifest_v our_o will_n then_o follow_v the_o action_n whosoever_o then_o will_v indevor_n to_o serve_v god_n as_o he_o ought_v he_o must_v first_o of_o necessity_n whole_o renounce_v his_o will_n and_o carnal_a reason_n hence_o we_o see_v wherefore_o the_o lord_n so_o oft_o require_v the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n in_o the_o scripture_n exod._n 20.13_o doubtless_o he_o look_v high_a than_o to_o the_o external_a ceremony_n which_o be_v this_o rest_n in_o which_o the_o jew_n place_v a_o work_n of_o great_a holiness_n no_o he_o rather_o mean_v that_o have_v put_v off_o all_o the_o concupiscence_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o renounce_v all_o their_o inordinate_a affection_n 2._o for_o a_o more_o particular_a explication_n and_o application_n of_o this_o 13._o verse_n see_v widley_n upon_o the_o sabbath_n lib._n 2._o chap._n 4._o sect._n 2._o they_o shall_v testify_v their_o sincere_a obedience_n for_o in_o truth_n that_o man_n can_v never_o be_v say_v to_o meditate_v aright_o of_o the_o heavenly_a life_n that_o be_v not_o dead_a both_o to_o the_o world_n and_o to_o himself_o now_o howsoever_o this_o ceremony_n be_v abolish_v yet_o the_o substance_n remain_v for_o christ_n be_v dead_a and_o rise_v again_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v keep_v a_o perpetual_a sabbath_n that_o we_o cease_v from_o our_o own_o work_n to_o suffer_v the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n to_o work_v powerful_o in_o us._n verse_n 14._o then_o shall_v thou_o delight_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o i_o will_v cause_v thou_o to_o mount_v upon_o the_o high_a place_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o feed_v thou_o with_o the_o heritage_n of_o jaakob_n thy_o father_n for_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o lord_n have_v speak_v it_o then_o shall_v thou_o delight_v it_o seem_v he_o allude_v to_o the_o word_n delight_n in_o the_o delight_n in_o the_o true_a observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n in_o a_o word_n his_o meaning_n be_v that_o the_o people_n receive_v no_o delight_n from_o god_n because_o they_o provoke_v he_o to_o anger_n &_o will_v not_o obey_v his_o will_n for_o if_o we_o square_v our_o life_n according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o god_n law_n we_o shall_v be_v his_o delight_n and_o he_o shall_v be_v our_o joy_n and_o contentment_n he_o testify_v then_o that_o the_o jew_n be_v the_o cause_n themselves_o that_o god_n take_v no_o more_o pleasure_n in_o they_o also_o that_o their_o own_o life_n be_v so_o comfortless_o by_o this_o than_o he_o privy_o reproach_v the_o jew_n namely_o that_o through_o their_o own_o folly_n they_o have_v draw_v down_o so_o many_o calamity_n upon_o they_o afterward_o he_o add_v that_o they_o shall_v mount_v upon_o the_o high_a place_n of_o the_o earth_n thereby_o promise_v unto_o they_o their_o return_n
