show_v that_o they_o never_o feel_v what_o the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n be_v and_o thy_o so_o because_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o we_o to_o have_v any_o taste_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o receive_v thereby_o any_o instruction_n but_o that_o we_o must_v needs_o be_v move_v and_o ravish_v therewith_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o his_o glorious_a name_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v then_o that_o shall_v show_v himself_o negligent_a herein_o sufficient_o enough_o declare_v that_o he_o know_v not_o what_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v albeit_o he_o protest_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o christian_n let_v we_o now_o come_v to_o those_o which_o be_v not_o only_o dumb_a themselves_o but_o that_o which_o be_v also_o worse_o which_o will_v shut_v up_o the_o mouth_n of_o other_o to_o the_o end_n it_o may_v not_o be_v lawful_a for_o they_o too_o praise_v god_n and_o yet_o forsooth_o these_o man_n be_v so_o shameless_a as_o that_o they_o will_v notwithstanding_o be_v take_v for_o good_a christian_n but_o by_o these_o mean_v they_o declare_v themselves_o too_o be_v the_o deadly_a enemy_n of_o god_n yea_o worse_o than_o the_o very_a deville_n and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o they_o think_v it_o not_o enough_o that_o they_o have_v nothing_o profit_v in_o the_o school_n of_o god_n neither_o yet_o be_v they_o content_v to_o show_v the_o way_n to_o do_v well_o unto_o other_o but_o they_o will_v have_v all_o the_o world_n to_o be_v like_a unto_o themselves_o that_o there_o shall_v never_o mention_v be_v make_v of_o praise_v god_n &_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v this_o word_n christian_n shall_v stand_v they_o in_o never_o a_o penny_n now_o without_o all_o doubt_n god_n disalow_v of_o all_o those_o which_o will_v not_o give_v themselves_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o his_o majesty_n and_o that_o will_v not_o stir_v up_o their_o neigh_n bour_v to_o do_v the_o like_a that_o they_o may_v show_v themselves_o to_o have_v study_v his_o word_n but_o let_v we_o be_v well_o assure_v that_o it_o be_v notinough_o too_o open_a our_o mouth_n and_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o he_o with_o the_o tongue_n but_o it_o must_v also_o come_v from_o a_o well_o affect_a heart_n for_o david_n tell_v we_o nothere_o that_o he_o will_v solemnize_v the_o praise_n of_o god_n but_o in_o address_v himself_o unto_o god_n he_o protest_v before_o he_o that_o he_o will_v sing_v praise_n unto_o he_o and_o in_o speak_v this_o he_o right_o well_o know_v that_o his_o heart_n must_v needs_o be_v dispose_v thereto_o wherefore_o when_o as_o we_o will_v magnify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n as_o appertain_v let_v we_o not_o deliver_v it_o out_o with_o the_o mouth_n only_o but_o our_o heart_n also_o must_v be_v set_v thereto_o and_o that_o it_o agree_v therewith_o to_o make_v a_o sweet_a harmony_n if_o this_o be_v so_o all_o our_o life_n by_o little_a and_o little_o shall_v be_v answerable_a thereto_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o untruthe_n which_o we_o have_v pronounce_v with_o our_o mouth_n now_o he_o add_v a_o sentence_n which_o be_v very_o short_a to_o wit_n my_o tongue_n shall_v treat_v of_o thy_o word_n and_o why_o because_o all_o thy_o commandment_n say_v he_o aloud_o and_o clear_v that_o he_o will_v make_v his_o word_n to_o resound_v that_o it_o may_v be_v hear_v yea_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o thing_n as_o notorious_o know_v as_o the_o very_a common_a song_n now_o since_o it_o be_v so_o that_o david_n speak_v after_o this_o sort_n let_v we_o now_o see_v what_o our_o duty_n be_v for_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v heretofore_o he_o brag_v not_o of_o his_o own_o power_n but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v set_v he_o before_o we_o in_o stead_n of_o a_o glass_n to_o send_v it_o may_v serve_v we_o for_o our_o better_a instruction_n now_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o truth_n of_o our_o good_a god_n what_o be_v there_o they_o for_o we_o to_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v not_o hold_v fast_o this_o treasure_n as_o it_o be_v lock_v up_o in_o a_o cheste_n but_o communicate_v his_o grace_n unto_o other_o yea_o and_o do_v the_o best_a we_o can_v to_o draw_v on_o the_o miserable_a ignorant_a people_n too_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o too_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o the_o doctrine_n to_o publish_v it_o to_o all_o man_n when_o as_o it_o be_v commit_v unto_o we_o as_o a_o treasure_n and_o to_o bestow_v the_o gift_n which_o we_o have_v receive_v upon_o our_o neighbour_n according_a to_o that_o measure_n of_o faith_n which_o god_n have_v give_v us._n howbeit_o this_o order_n be_v far_o of_o from_o we_o for_o if_o there_o be_v but_o three_o word_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n speak_v we_o will_v soon_o be_v weary_a of_o it_o may_v we_o shall_v not_o hear_v it_o speak_v of_o at_o this_o day_n it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o it_o be_v talk_v of_o both_o at_o the_o table_n in_o the_o way_n and_o every_o where_o as_o that_o we_o can_v hardly_o abide_v that_o even_o for_o fashion_n sake_n the_o preach_n of_o it_o be_v keep_v and_o although_o it_o be_v here_o lawful_a too_o speak_v in_o the_o pulpit_n one_o hour_n in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n yet_o shall_v you_o have_v a_o great_a number_n of_o dog_n which_o will_v not_o stick_v even_o to_o gyrne_v at_o it_o as_o if_o god_n be_v too_o too_o much_o privilege_v it_o be_v very_o far_o of_o to_o have_v every_o man_n to_o apply_v himself_o to_o sing_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o his_o whole_a word_n and_o for_o we_o to_o have_v our_o ear_n beat_v with_o it_o now_o whence_o come_v this_o unthankfulness_n very_o because_o we_o never_o taste_v of_o that_o which_o david_n here_o add_v all_o thy_o statute_n say_v he_o be_v righteous_a if_o we_o do_v thorough_o know_v what_o equity_n and_o pureness_n there_o be_v in_o the_o statute_n of_o god_n without_o doubt_n we_o shall_v be_v more_o earnest_n to_o learn_v hold_v and_o show_v they_o unto_o other_o than_o heretofore_o we_o have_v be_v so_o then_o all_z they_o which_o make_v no_o account_n too_o instruct_v their_o neighbour_n and_o do_v not_o esteem_v of_o the_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v do_v hereby_o show_v that_o they_o will_v not_o render_v the_o righteousness_n to_o god_n as_o to_o he_o appertame_v according_o as_o it_o be_v contain_v in_o his_o word_n and_o as_o he_o himself_o show_v it_o therein_o now_o david_n by_o and_o by_o add_v let_v thy_o hand_n help_v i_o for_o i_o have_v choose_v thy_o commandment_n he_o yet_o return_v too_o that_o which_o before_o he_o have_v say_v of_o deliverance_n for_o after_o he_o have_v require_v to_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n he_o say_v o_o deliver_v i_o yea_o he_o right_a well_o know_v that_o if_o he_o have_v not_o he_o for_o his_o protector_n that_o he_o shall_v always_o remain_v as_o it_o be_v in_o death_n now_o he_o add_v let_v thy_o hand_n help_v i_o and_o why_o so_o for_o i_o have_v choose_v say_v he_o thy_o commandment_n when_o he_o desire_v god_n too_o help_v he_o with_o his_o hand_n he_o confess_v his_o want_n and_o that_o he_o be_v as_o a_o man_n which_o need_v help_v even_o as_o though_o he_o have_v never_o have_v more_o need_n and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o in_o he_o to_o deliver_v himself_o neither_o can_v he_o find_v it_o in_o any_o of_o his_o creature_n and_o therefore_o except_o god_n have_v stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n see_v how_o david_n have_v be_v utter_o cast_v away_o now_o this_o confession_n here_o be_v very_o profitable_a for_o us._n for_o which_o of_o we_o be_v he_o that_o can_v be_v without_o affliction_n and_o that_o be_v able_a to_o say_v i_o have_v all_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o we_o be_v more_o careful_a for_o that_o which_o concern_v our_o body_n and_o this_o present_a life_n then_o for_o that_o which_o be_v require_v for_o the_o salvation_n of_o our_o soul_n
must_v stretch_v itself_o clean_o beyond_o the_o world_n and_o so_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v toss_v with_o the_o wind_n and_o tempest_n which_o shall_v blow_v against_o we_o to_o make_v we_o turn_v back_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v a_o sure_a foundation_n upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o as_o concern_v this_o proof_n which_o david_n add_v say_v that_o god_n have_v lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o the_o earth_n the_o same_o be_v but_o a_o little_a taste_n which_o he_o give_v we_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n now_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o have_v this_o taste_n only_o to_o know_v whether_o god_n be_v faithful_a and_o that_o his_o truth_n be_v everlasting_a for_o to_o prove_v it_o to_o be_v so_o we_o see_v that_o neither_o heaven_n nor_o earth_n but_o be_v subject_a too_o corruption_n and_o that_o all_o must_v pass_v only_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v say_v too_o last_o for_o ever_o and_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v so_o for_o else_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o our_o salvation_n it_o shall_v be_v corrupt_a very_o soon_o let_v we_o not_o once_o think_v then_o that_o david_n his_o meaning_n here_o be_v too_o make_v a_o comparison_n and_o a_o equal_a proportion_n of_o the_o continuance_n of_o this_o world_n and_o the_o constancy_n which_o we_o see_v in_o the_o order_n of_o nature_n with_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n but_o he_o show_v unto_o we_o that_o even_o in_o these_o corruptible_a thing_n we_o may_v the_o better_o perceive_v how_o faithful_a god_n be_v and_o if_o he_o be_v true_a in_o these_o thing_n on_o the_o earth_n what_o shall_v he_o himself_o then_o be_v i_o beseech_v you_o tell_v i_o from_z whence_o have_v the_o earth_n her_o foundation_n it_o be_v found_v both_o upon_o the_o water_n and_o also_o upon_o the_o air_n loe_o her_o foundation_n we_o can_v not_o possible_o build_v a_o house_n fifteen_o foot_n hight_v upon_o the_o firm_a ground_n but_o that_o we_o must_v lay_v a_o foundation_n see_v all_o the_o whole_a earth_n be_v found_v only_o waver_v and_o as_o it_o be_v hang_v yea_o and_o upon_o so_o bottomless_a deapthes_fw-mi as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v turn_v upsidedowne_v in_o the_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n and_o the_o whole_a substance_n of_o it_o utter_o overthrow_v it_o must_v needs_o then_o be_v that_o there_o be_v a_o wonderful_a power_n of_o god_n show_v in_o the_o conserve_n of_o it_o in_o the_o same_o sort_n it_o stand_v and_o that_o be_v it_o which_o be_v here_o show_v unto_o we_o to_o wit_n because_o that_o god_n have_v say_v that_o the_o earth_n be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o world_n and_o that_o it_o be_v so_o lay_v as_o it_o be_v hereby_o we_o know_v what_o the_o certainty_n of_o his_o truth_n be_v but_o we_o must_v here_o forsooth_o compare_v the_o less_o thing_n with_o the_o great_a as_o we_o say_v how_o from_o the_o lesser_a to_o the_o great_a i_o will_v show_v you_o by_o example_n if_o i_o say_v we_o do_v see_v such_o excellency_n in_o the_o body_n of_o a_o man_n as_o that_o it_o may_v bethink_v to_o be_v even_o the_o very_a image_n of_o god_n whereby_o we_o know_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v write_v that_o god_n have_v ordain_v man_n to_o be_v the_o chief_a of_o all_o his_o creature_n and_o give_v he_o great_a dignity_n nobleness_n and_o power_n over_o all_o live_a creature_n 8.6_o psal_n 8.6_o even_o so_o also_o in_o praise_v that_o which_o be_v in_o man_n we_o may_v descend_v from_o the_o body_n to_o the_o soul_n and_o this_o be_v from_o the_o hy_a too_o the_o low_a and_o from_o the_o less_o to_o the_o more_o so_o likewise_o be_v it_o in_o this_o place_n when_o david_n set_v before_o our_o eye_n the_o order_n of_o nature_n this_o be_v not_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v to_o measure_v and_o compare_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n with_o such_o a_o measure_n but_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v reason_v and_o say_v if_o in_o these_o frail_a and_o transitory_a thing_n which_o be_v subject_a to_o corruption_n we_o see_v such_o a_o constancy_n because_o it_o be_v god_n his_o will_v it_o shall_v be_v so_o what_o shall_v we_o then_o say_v of_o his_o truth_n which_o surpass_v all_o the_o world_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v make_v such_o a_o comparison_n between_o the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n we_o may_v certain_o conclude_v that_o god_n sufficien_o grant_v we_o wherewith_o too_o settle_v ourselves_o upon_o his_o word_n we_o must_v not_o be_v so_o inconstant_a as_o too_o let_v our_o faith_n be_v shake_v so_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o world_n toss_v with_o any_o trouble_n but_o rather_o too_o take_v this_o place_n which_o be_v here_o show_v unto_o we_o by_o david_n for_o our_o refuge_n and_o this_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o this_o place_n now_o it_o follow_v afterward_o except_o the_o lord_n have_v be_v my_o delight_n i_o shall_v now_o have_v perish_v in_o my_o trouble_n david_n here_o speak_v this_o of_o his_o own_o proper_a experience_n and_o knowledge_n before_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o truth_n and_o excellency_n of_o god_n in_o general_a and_o say_v that_o it_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o afterward_o he_o proove_v it_o by_o visible_a thing_n which_o be_v very_o manifest_a unto_o we_o and_o which_o god_n point_v out_o unto_o we_o as_o it_o be_v with_o his_o finger_n in_o the_o three_o place_n he_o say_v that_o he_o speak_v not_o of_o unknowen_a thing_n that_o he_o may_v dispute_v of_o they_o at_o random_n but_o that_o he_o have_v right_o practise_v that_o which_o he_o have_v speak_v because_o that_o he_o be_v preserve_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o he_o now_o show_v we_o where_o we_o ought_v to_o seek_v for_o this_o word_n whereof_o he_o have_v general_o speak_v heretofore_o for_o we_o may_v use_v this_o name_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o it_o may_v be_v hide_v in_o the_o air_n or_o among_o the_o cloud_n but_o because_o he_o have_v give_v unto_o we_o his_o word_n familyar_o and_o communicate_v the_o same_o with_o we_o daily_o even_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n let_v we_o consider_v that_o in_o give_v honour_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o say_v that_o it_o be_v infallible_a let_v we_o not_o imagine_v it_o to_o be_v a_o unknowen_a word_n but_o let_v we_o go_v unto_o that_o which_o god_n at_o all_o time_n have_v give_v to_o his_o servant_n and_o that_o be_v it_o which_o be_v contain_v in_o the_o law_n see_v then_o how_o god_n have_v first_o declare_v his_o word_n unto_o we_o wherein_o our_o salvation_n be_v altogether_o certain_a now_o here_o we_o have_v to_o note_v in_o this_o strain_n that_o david_n have_v have_v such_o experience_n deserve_v well_o to_o be_v hear_v and_o that_o they_o be_v no_o vain_a word_n which_o he_o here_o set_v down_o before_o hand_n but_o that_o god_n also_o will_v have_v it_o so_o too_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v give_v the_o more_o credit_n unto_o it_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v no_o whit_n doubt_v of_o any_o thing_n that_o he_o teach_v we_o when_o as_o he_o himself_o have_v make_v proof_n of_o all_o that_o which_o he_o before_o have_v speak_v and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o first_o point_n the_o experience_n then_o whereof_o david_n speak_v shall_v very_o well_o serve_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o our_o seal_n by_o which_o god_n mean_v too_o make_v the_o doctrine_n of_o his_o prophet_n to_o be_v of_o so_o much_o the_o more_o antiquity_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o moreover_o let_v we_o learn_v right_o too_o understande_v how_o sure_o we_o ought_v too_o be_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n not_o too_o seek_v for_o the_o certainty_n thereof_o without_o ourselves_o but_o rather_o in_o our_o own_o conscience_n it_o be_v true_a that_o we_o ought_v thorough_o too_o look_v both_o above_n and_o beneath_o too_o make_v the_o testimony_n which_o god_n give_v we_o too_o serve_v our_o faith_n too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v certify_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o word_n as_o already_o we_o have_v hear_v but_o yet_o the_o principal_a point_n be_v this_o for_o every_o man_n to_o enter_v into_o himself_o and_o make_v such_o account_n of_o this_o certainty_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o it_o may_v take_v such_o root_n in_o our_o soul_n as_o that_o we_o may_v there_o feel_v it_o to_o be_v such_o as_o here_o it_o be_v say_v to_o wit_n that_o it_o never_o be_v shake_v although_o the_o whole_a world_n shall_v be_v confound_v and_o that_o it_o be_v the_o same_o which_o must_v give_v we_o peace_n and_o rest_n notwithstanding_o it_o seem_v that_o all_o be_v utter_o overthrow_v we_o must_v then_o acknowledge_v the_o effect_n and_o accomplishment_n of_o this_o certainty_n which_o the_o prophet_n here_o attribute_v
shall_v be_v lamentable_a now_o this_o may_v serve_v we_o for_o two_o purpose_n the_o one_o be_v that_o we_o be_v here_o below_o upon_o the_o earth_n may_v make_v our_o account_n that_o we_o can_v be_v here_o as_o it_o be_v in_o paradise_n to_o have_v such_o rest_n and_o quietness_n as_o we_o will_v chief_o desire_v to_o lack_v nothing_o and_o not_o to_o be_v subject_a to_o any_o grief_n nor_o displeasure_n no_o not_o so_o but_o contrariwise_o let_v we_o know_v that_o here_o god_n subiect_v we_o to_o a_o great_a number_n of_o wretchedness_n and_o misery_n to_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v be_v always_o call_v upon_o he_o for_o his_o mercy_n and_o too_o be_v always_o run_v unto_o he_o for_o it_o lo_o here_o the_o first_o point_n which_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v of_o in_o this_o place_n that_o the_o faithful_a to_o the_o outward_a show_n shall_v be_v very_o miserable_a and_o in_o a_o most_o wretched_a case_n so_o long_o as_o they_o shall_v live_v here_o bylowe_a and_o the_o meaning_n of_o god_n be_v to_o hold_v we_o under_o this_o condition_n to_o the_o end_n to_o awaken_v we_o that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o far_o great_a affection_n to_o call_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o cleave_v whole_o unto_o he_o now_o if_o we_o shall_v have_v this_o consideration_n with_o we_o we_o may_v then_o in_o the_o second_o place_n say_v with_o david_n have_v mercy_n upon_o we_o o_o lord_n that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o may_v be_v assure_v in_o all_o our_o misery_n that_o god_n will_v be_v pitiful_a and_o merciful_a unto_o we_o yea_o so_o that_o we_o desire_v he_o as_o we_o be_v here_o teach_v too_o do_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n namely_o david_n add_v as_o thou_o use_v too_o do_v unto_o those_o which_o love_v thy_o name_n this_o be_v a_o sentence_n of_o judgement_n which_o be_v here_o set_v down_o but_o it_o sometime_o signify_v measure_n sometime_o estate_n order_n or_o fashion_n the_o sense_n be_v not_o dark_a for_o it_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v say_v o_o lord_n have_v mercy_n upon_o i_o even_o as_o thou_o be_v wont_a to_o have_v mercy_n upon_o those_o which_o call_v upon_o thy_o name_n now_o we_o be_v to_o gather_v from_o this_o say_n that_o david_n make_v not_o this_o petition_n only_o for_o himself_o but_o have_v set_v down_o unto_o we_o a_o general_a rule_n which_o we_o may_v and_o ought_v too_o apply_v unto_o every_o child_n of_o god_n too_o the_o end_n that_o every_o one_o for_o his_o own_o part_n may_v be_v sure_a that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o he_o and_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o aid_v he_o in_o his_o need_n and_o why_o so_o for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n namely_o pronounce_v that_o it_o be_v the_o ordinary_a manner_n of_o god_n to_o be_v love_v and_o pitiful_a to_o all_o those_o which_o love_v his_o name_n what_o remain_v trust_v so_o much_o unto_o god_n but_o yet_o for_o that_o his_o faith_n be_v not_o shake_v and_o see_v how_o satan_n assayl_v we_o with_o temptation_n when_o as_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a speak_v reproachful_a word_n of_o we_o insomuch_o as_o we_o have_v think_v it_o to_o be_v wonder_a strange_a gear_n because_o that_o we_o have_v hear_v the_o so_o honourable_a &_o excellent_a promise_n of_o god_n think_v ourselves_o straightways_o to_o be_v rapte_v and_o carry_v above_o the_o cloud_n and_o yet_o this_o same_o our_o persuasion_n prove_v nothing_o at_o all_o so_o as_o it_o make_v a_o show_n to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n even_o so_o likewise_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v in_o david_n as_o we_o may_v especial_o see_v in_o the_o twenty_o and_o two_o psalm_n and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n also_o who_o be_v the_o very_a true_a pattern_n and_o mirror_n of_o all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n have_v sustain_v &_o abiden_v such_o combat_n very_o well_o say_v they_o unto_o he_o he_o trust_v in_o god_n let_v he_o now_o see_v whether_o god_n will_v hear_v he_o or_o not_o let_v we_o then_o note_n that_o david_n have_v not_o devise_v and_o make_v here_o any_o vain_a speculation_n as_o a_o idle_a body_n may_v do_v which_o never_o have_v be_v tempt_v nor_o distress_v but_o be_v so_o mock_v by_o his_o enemy_n that_o his_o faith_n seem_v to_o be_v overthrow_v and_o people_n god_n have_v no_o long_a time_n to_o find_v out_o such_o a_o wonder_a &_o marvellous_a strange_a mean_n as_o that_o man_n can_v not_o possible_o conceive_v how_o that_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o open_v his_o hand_n unto_o we_o and_o deal_v liberal_o with_o we_o to_o have_v we_o to_o feel_v his_o mighty_a power_n and_o that_o we_o may_v perceive_v the_o fruit_n and_o benefit_n of_o his_o promise_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o we_o plant_v they_o deep_o in_o our_o heart_n that_o we_o may_v say_v after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n my_o hope_n o_o lord_n be_v in_o thy_o judgement_n for_o this_o word_n integrity_n or_o judgement_n we_o have_v here_o before_o already_o declare_v signify_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o doctrine_n contain_v in_o the_o law_n of_o god_n yea_o although_o he_o here_o use_v diverse_a and_o sundry_a word_n yet_o do_v they_o tend_v always_o to_o one_o and_o the_o self_n same_o end_n loe_o then_o whether_o we_o must_v refer_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n that_o that_o which_o we_o read_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o which_o be_v preach_v unto_o we_o out_o of_o the_o same_o we_o must_v understand_v and_o know_v to_o be_v sure_a and_o certain_a statute_n and_o ordinance_n and_o so_o well_o order_v as_o that_o they_o can_v be_v better_v and_o therefore_o to_o have_v all_o our_o hope_n and_o trust_v in_o they_o now_o he_o go_v on_o to_o amend_v our_o so_o great_a lithernesse_n and_o coldness_n let_v we_o then_o learn_v that_o when_o david_n say_v i_o shall_v keep_v thy_o law_n o_o lord_n that_o by_o this_o he_o mean_v that_o according_o as_o god_n put_v unto_o we_o his_o help_a hand_n and_o that_o we_o have_v have_v proof_n of_o his_o grace_n that_o we_o receive_v the_o fruit_n &_o commodity_n thereof_o which_o we_o have_v hope_v for_o in_o his_o promise_n that_o it_o ought_v to_o serve_v we_o for_o a_o more_o ample_a and_o large_a confirmation_n and_o that_o we_o ought_v a_o great_a deal_n rather_o too_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o love_n god_n and_o to_o serve_v he_o and_o too_o yield_v we_o unto_o his_o word_n in_o sum_n as_o here_o it_o be_v say_v too_o keep_v his_o law_n but_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o to_o be_v consider_v for_o david_n speak_v not_o here_o of_o a_o blast_n of_o wind_n as_o some_o shall_v be_v very_o forward_o for_o a_o little_a time_n but_o he_o say_v i_o will_v always_o keep_v thy_o law_n yea_o for_o ever_o and_o ever_o wherein_o he_o show_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o have_v such_o a_o remembrance_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n that_o it_o never_o slip_v from_o us._n for_o as_o i_o have_v hereof_o already_o speak_v we_o shall_v see_v some_o in_o this_o behalf_n which_o shall_v be_v move_v for_o a_o little_a while_n when_o as_o god_n shall_v have_v deliver_v they_o from_o any_o danger_n and_o have_v bestow_v upon_o they_o some_o favour_n and_o grace_n they_o shall_v have_v a_o very_a good_a taste_n and_o feeling_n and_o say_v alas_o how_o great_o be_o i_o bind_v and_o behold_v to_o my_o god_n loe_o a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o these_o man_n be_v well_o affect_v but_o in_o the_o turn_n of_o a_o hand_n no_o doubt_n it_o be_v soon_o forget_v or_o at_o the_o least_o if_o they_o remember_v it_o a_o little_a while_n they_o wax_v cold_a again_o and_o think_v no_o more_o of_o it_o since_o than_o it_o be_v so_o let_v we_o mark_v according_a to_o that_o which_o be_v speak_v in_o this_o place_n that_o it_o be_v not_o meet_v that_o the_o remembrance_n of_o god_n his_o benefit_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n be_v wipe_v out_o of_o our_o heart_n but_o let_v we_o beseech_v he_o to_o make_v we_o to_o keep_v his_o law_n for_o ever_o and_o ever_o and_o in_o such_o sort_n to_o instruct_v we_o as_o that_o we_o desire_v none_o other_o thing_n of_o he_o but_o to_o stick_v unto_o his_o majesty_n and_o to_o his_o righteousness_n it_o follow_v that_o he_o will_v walk_v at_o liberty_n because_o he_o seek_v his_o commandment_n to_o walk_v at_o liberty_n signify_v to_o go_v at_o a_o man_n own_o will_n &_o pleasure_n for_o like_a as_o when_o we_o be_v in_o a_o narrow_a &_o straight_a room_n we_o know_v not_o which_o way_n to_o turn_v we_o but_o think_v ourselves_o clean_o pen_v up_o even_o so_o also_o be_v we_o over_o narrow_o hold_v in_o or_o else_o sure_o we_o look_v about_o we_o to_o see_v if_o we_o can_v find_v which_o way_n to_o get_v out_o and_o so_o do_v remain_v in_o perplexity_n or_o doubt_n and_o be_v this_o the_o assurance_n and_o joy_n that_o we_o must_v have_v in_o the_o law_n of_o god_n what_o be_v this_o it_o david_n contrariwise_o say_v that_o he_o will_v walk_v at_o liberty_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v bold_o walk_v the_o broad_a beat_a way_n as_o we_o say_v after_o he_o have_v seek_v the_o that_o it_o be_v god_n which_o have_v speak_v let_v all_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n be_v nothing_o to_o we_o ward_n let_v we_o not_o be_v ashamed_a and_o let_v nothing_o hinder_v and_o stop_v we_o from_o maintain_v of_o his_o word_n in_o the_o end_n david_n conclude_v and_o say_v my_o hand_n also_o will_v i_o lift_v up_o unto_o thy_o commandment_n which_o i_o have_v love_v and_o my_o study_n shall_v be_v in_o thy_o statute_n these_o two_o verse_n here_o need_v no_o long_a declaration_n for_o we_o have_v already_o have_v the_o same_o sentence_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o yea_o and_o in_o place_n of_o the_o wicked_a affection_n and_o allurement_n of_o satan_n learn_v to_o take_v pleasure_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o that_o we_o may_v protest_v in_o truth_n after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n that_o they_o be_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n which_o we_o have_v love_v moreover_o let_v we_o mark_v well_o this_o sentence_n when_o he_o say_v my_o hand_n also_o will_v i_o lift_v up_o unto_o thy_o commandment_n for_o this_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o will_v not_o only_o protest_v with_o my_o mouth_n that_o i_o love_v thy_o word_n but_o i_o will_v also_o lift_v up_o my_o hand_n yea_o as_o we_o common_o say_v i_o will_v lift_v up_o my_o hand_n to_o the_o caky_a god_n by_o this_o he_o let_v we_o to_o understande_v that_o if_o we_o will_v serve_v god_n as_o become_v we_o that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o witness_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n with_o our_o mouth_n but_o we_o must_v also_o show_v by_o our_o good_a and_o godly_a life_n that_o which_o we_o protest_v with_o our_o mouth_n and_o that_o there_o be_v a_o accord_n and_o sweet_a harmony_n between_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o true_a it_o be_v we_o shall_v find_v some_o doubt_n when_o as_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o question_n of_o follow_v god_n but_o this_o sentence_n be_v to_o be_v note_v when_o he_o say_v i_o will_v lift_v up_o my_o hand_n and_o to_o know_v that_o when_o god_n shall_v see_v that_o it_o shall_v surpass_v our_o force_n and_o strength_n let_v we_o pray_v unto_o he_o to_o grant_v we_o that_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v lift_v up_o our_o hand_n unto_o his_o commandment_n to_o wit_n so_o high_a as_o we_o can_v possible_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v take_v hold_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o virtue_n better_a than_o heretofore_o we_o have_v do_v lo_o in_o what_o manner_n we_o ought_v to_o do_v in_o this_o case_n that_o not_o presume_v of_o our_o own_o power_n and_o strength_n we_o may_v pray_v that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o open_v our_o eye_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v know_v our_o wretchedness_n &_o the_o miserable_a condition_n wherein_o we_o stand_v that_o we_o may_v return_v believe_v in_o good_a earnest_n and_o not_o hypocritical_o that_o we_o have_v not_o take_v his_o word_n in_o vain_a but_o it_o have_v be_v lively_o root_v in_o our_o soul_n let_v we_o then_o well_o note_v that_o if_o we_o will_v have_v a_o true_a proufe_v of_o our_o faith_n and_o learn_v too_o speak_v in_o truth_n that_o we_o have_v trust_v in_o god_n and_o his_o promise_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o we_o shall_v feel_v very_o boisterous_a assault_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o have_v not_o be_v forsake_v and_o leave_v until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o withdraw_v ourselves_o from_o god_n moreover_o david_n speak_v here_o of_o the_o wicked_a call_v they_o the_o proud_a neither_o do_v he_o so_o entitle_v they_o without_o cause_n for_o it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o all_o those_o which_o trust_v not_o in_o god_n for_o it_o can_v not_o be_v choose_v but_o that_o a_o man_n which_o put_v not_o his_o trust_n in_o god_n must_v needs_o grow_v proud_a and_o swell_v therewith_o like_o a_o toad_n and_o why_o so_o for_o when_o man_n do_v know_v themselves_o to_o be_v such_o as_o in_o deed_n they_o be_v they_o must_v needs_o be_v cast_v down_o and_o humble_v and_o this_o common_a prover_n be_v which_o reign_v even_o amongst_o the_o faithless_a say_v he_o that_o know_v himself_o make_v very_o little_a of_o his_o paint_a sheath_n now_o we_o will_v speak_v this_o with_o the_o mouth_n but_o yet_o it_o be_v to_o our_o condemnation_n nevertheless_o it_o be_v god_n his_o will_n that_o all_o man_n shall_v know_v this_o because_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o excuse_n in_o sum_n this_o be_v very_o true_a that_o if_o man_n know_v themselves_o thy_o shall_v be_v humble_v and_o utter_o discomfit_v hereupon_o they_o will_v come_v to_o seek_v god_n and_o hide_v themselves_o and_o it_o be_v not_o only_o here_o but_o the_o holy_a scripture_n use_v this_o speech_n throughout_o and_o hereupon_o also_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n abacuc_n say_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v live_v by_o his_o faith_n 2.4_o abac._n 2.4_o and_o he_o set_v down_o to_o the_o contrary_a that_o they_o which_o lift_v up_o themselves_o and_o in_o such_o sort_n some_o out_o their_o pride_n shall_v never_o take_v hold_n they_o may_v well_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n but_o it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o they_o must_v needs_o fall_v down_o headlong_o we_o see_v then_o that_o the_o prophet_n compare_v the_o faithful_a with_o the_o faithless_a give_v this_o title_n and_o quality_n to_o all_o those_o which_o put_v not_o their_o trust_n in_o god_n that_o they_o be_v puff_v up_o and_o presume_v without_o measure_n even_o so_o then_o let_v we_o note_v that_o if_o we_o will_v render_v a_o true_a testimony_n of_o our_o faith_n we_o must_v needs_o be_v cast_v down_o in_o ourselves_o &_o be_v true_o humble_v and_o contrariwise_o if_o we_o feel_v that_o pride_n puff_v we_o up_o let_v we_o conclude_v that_o we_o have_v as_o yet_o profit_v very_o slender_o in_o the_o school_n of_o god_n &_o that_o if_o faith_n reign_v in_o our_o soul_n that_o this_o pride_n shall_v there_o be_v correct_v see_v then_o how_o we_o ought_v to_o put_v this_o lesson_n in_o practice_n moreover_o let_v we_o also_o note_n that_o they_o which_o so_o lift_v themselves_o up_o against_o god_n contemn_v and_o despise_v their_o neighbour_n that_o all_o they_o which_o presume_v upon_o their_o own_o power_n and_o strength_n know_v not_o that_o their_o whole_a blessedness_n lie_v in_o the_o mere_a grace_n of_o god_n these_o man_n i_o say_v can_v not_o be_v but_o cruel_a and_o will_v be_v fierce_a and_o malicious_a against_o their_o neighbour_n and_o therefore_o after_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v learn_v to_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o god_n let_v we_o use_v such_o courtesy_n and_o gentleness_n unto_o man_n as_o that_o we_o practise_v that_o which_o saint_n paul_n speak_v of_o 2.3_o phil._n 2.3_o to_o wit_n that_o every_o man_n esteem_n of_o his_o brother_n better_o than_o of_o himself_o let_v we_o not_o study_v to_o go_v about_o to_o advance_v and_o esteem_v of_o ourselves_o in_o reject_v and_o naught_o set_v by_o of_o other_o but_o let_v we_o acknowledge_v the_o benefit_n which_o of_o he_o loe_o the_o combatte_n wherewith_o satan_n daily_o assail_v us._n when_o as_o the_o ungodly_a do_v see_v the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o any_o misery_n and_o calamity_n they_o rush_v even_o upon_o they_o at_o the_o first_o dash_n and_o say_v ha_o ha_o this_o man_n think_v that_o god_n ought_v to_o watch_v over_o he_o and_o that_o no_o sorrow_n nor_o grief_n shall_v come_v upon_o he_o be_v not_o the_o first_o time_n alone_o that_o david_n have_v be_v thus_o assail_v for_o this_o be_v a_o ordinary_a thing_n with_o he_o as_o we_o see_v throughout_o the_o whole_a two_o and_o twenty_o psalm_n and_o since_o he_o have_v put_v his_o trust_n in_o god_n say_v they_o let_v he_o now_o save_v he_o and_o let_v we_o see_v whether_o god_n will_v help_v he_o or_o not_o and_o as_o david_n be_v grieve_v with_o these_o torment_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v abide_v the_o like_a conflict_n and_o since_o that_o this_o appertain_v to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n judgement_n of_o god_n as_o he_o have_v do_v before_o and_o as_o he_o will_v hereafter_o to_o wit_n for_o his_o statute_n and_o commandment_n but_o he_o mean_v the_o act_n and_o deed_n which_o god_n in_o all_o age_n have_v do_v to_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v judge_n over_o all_o man_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o such_o judgement_n as_o god_n have_v put_v in_o execution_n be_v contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n but_o by_o this_o which_o be_v here_o speak_v of_o they_o we_o be_v warn_v how_o we_o ought_v to_o read_v such_o history_n that_o be_v that_o god_n never_o forsake_v his_o faithful_a and_o although_o for_o a_o while_o he_o slack_v yet_o will_v he_o not_o leave_v the_o wicked_a unpunished_a in_o the_o end_n david_n than_o meditate_a on_o these_o judgement_n and_o exercise_v himself_o in_o they_o and_o so_o we_o be_v to_o remember_v that_o when_o we_o have_v make_v the_o word_n of_o god_n forcible_a to_o resist_v satan_n and_o all_o the_o assault_n wherewith_o he_o shall_v assail_v we_o we_o must_v also_o know_v that_o god_n have_v not_o only_o speak_v but_o have_v likewise_o show_v by_o experience_n that_o his_o word_n be_v no_o vain_a thing_n but_o that_o the_o execution_n thereof_o be_v at_o hand_n and_o therefore_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v that_o god_n shall_v put_v to_o his_o help_a hand_n before_o our_o eye_n and_o shall_v give_v we_o so_o many_o testimony_n of_o his_o judgement_n it_o be_v no_o reason_n that_o we_o shall_v overslippe_v it_o but_o shall_v have_v our_o eye_n open_a and_o acknowledge_v these_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v declare_v unto_o we_o when_o as_o also_o we_o shall_v feel_v any_o of_o god_n his_o grace_n towards_o we_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o imprint_v the_o same_o sure_o in_o our_o mind_n loe_o how_o we_o must_v follow_v david_n in_o that_o which_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n i_o have_v remember_v thy_o judgement_n moreover_o when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o have_v call_v to_o mind_n the_o judgement_n of_o god_n from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n i_o pray_v you_o what_o excuse_n shall_v we_o be_v able_a too_o make_v if_o we_o overslippe_v that_o which_o he_o set_v before_o our_o eye_n for_o when_o as_o at_o this_o day_n god_n shall_v hold_v himself_o as_o if_o he_o lie_v hide_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o token_n nor_o proufe_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o judge_n of_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a for_o to_o confound_v they_o and_o the_o saviour_n of_o those_o which_o trust_v in_o he_o and_o call_v upon_o he_o yet_o that_o which_o be_v contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o that_o which_o we_o read_v too_o be_v do_v before_o we_o be_v bear_v the_o same_o i_o say_v may_v suffice_v but_o now_o since_o god_n declare_v himself_o unto_o we_o and_o show_v unto_o we_o his_o presence_n and_o all_o this_o to_o be_v cast_v under_o foot_n through_o our_o unthankfulness_n must_v not_o we_o needs_o be_v more_o than_o culpable_a or_o blameworthy_a in_o sum_n let_v we_o mark_v that_o here_o the_o holy_a ghost_n accuse_v we_o of_o negligence_n for_o if_o we_o be_v such_o as_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v be_v we_o shall_v apply_v our_o study_n to_o read_v the_o holy_a scripture_n where_o god_n show_v we_o his_o judgement_n as_o it_o be_v in_o beautiful_a glass_n and_o all_o for_o our_o
psalm_n as_o a_o new_a doctrine_n ne_o yet_o as_o a_o doctrine_n separate_v from_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n but_o draw_v they_o from_o it_o as_o out_o of_o a_o fountain_n so_o than_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o he_o protest_v here_o that_o the_o statute_n of_o god_n serve_v he_o for_o psalm_n and_o for_o song_n yea_o in_o stead_n of_o his_o pilgrimage_n that_o be_v to_o say_v in_o a_o strange_a country_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o infidel_n when_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v banish_v from_o the_o church_n that_o he_o can_v not_o be_v in_o the_o temple_n to_o make_v confession_n of_o his_o faith_n yet_o be_v he_o not_o for_o all_o this_o wicked_o addict_v now_o here_o they_o which_o be_v traveller_n be_v admonish_v of_o their_o duty_n for_o albeit_o they_o see_v a_o great_a many_o of_o enormity_n commit_v in_o the_o world_n nevertheless_o they_o be_v steadfast_o purpose_v to_o hold_v themselves_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o a_o pure_a and_o sound_a conscience_n albeit_o they_o be_v mingle_v among_o the_o infidel_n as_o behold_v even_o the_o very_a christian_n which_o be_v in_o the_o papacy_n although_o they_o be_v there_o prisoner_n have_v no_o doctrine_n preach_v unto_o they_o without_o liberty_n to_o serve_v god_n public_o and_o to_o make_v confession_n of_o their_o faith_n as_o they_o will_v yet_o do_v they_o not_o exceed_v and_o outrage_n with_o the_o rest_n in_o these_o villainy_n which_o reign_n amongst_o they_o but_o confirm_v themselves_o the_o best_a they_o can_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n take_v all_o their_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n therein_o and_o make_v the_o law_n of_o god_n their_o song_n which_o make_v they_o to_o withdraw_v themselves_o from_o all_o the_o vanity_n and_o corruption_n which_o they_o commit_v so_o that_o they_o keep_v themselves_o within_o this_o compass_n moreover_o if_o they_o which_o be_v in_o a_o place_n where_o the_o word_n of_o life_n be_v not_o teach_v and_o do_v so_o yea_o even_o great_a store_n of_o offence_n wherewith_o they_o may_v take_v occasion_n too_o be_v draw_v to_o wickedness_n and_o to_o be_v corrupt_a with_o the_o rest_n these_o i_o say_v be_v inexcusable_a but_o be_v command_v to_o take_v their_o delight_n and_o pleasure_n in_o god_n and_o in_o his_o law_n and_o too_o encourage_v themselves_o take_v the_o holy_a song_n to_o exhort_v they_o to_o well_o do_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o when_o as_o we_o be_v in_o a_o place_n where_o the_o bell_n ring_v too_o call_v we_o that_o we_o may_v be_v admonish_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v instruct_v too_o call_v upon_o his_o name_n and_o to_o make_v confession_n of_o our_o faith_n when_o god_n then_o call_v we_o unto_o his_o school_n and_o open_v his_o mouth_n to_o instruct_v we_o i_o pray_v you_o be_v not_o we_o worthy_a of_o most_o horrible_a condemnation_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v do_v altogether_o preposterous_o in_o that_o whereof_o david_n here_o make_v protestation_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v very_o many_o which_o can_v never_o be_v merry_a but_o when_o as_o they_o shall_v deafe_o hearken_v unto_o god_n &_o if_o they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n it_o be_v only_o to_o hear_v their_o condemnation_n for_o whatsoever_o be_v say_v unto_o they_o and_o lay_v before_o they_o to_o bring_v they_o into_o the_o right_a way_n they_o soon_o forget_v what_o conclusion_n which_o david_n here_o make_v that_o he_o remember_v the_o law_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o end_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v behold_v what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o i_o be_v a_o miserable_a vacabond_n cast_v out_o of_o the_o temple_n and_o drive_v out_o of_o my_o country_n do_v yet_o never_o but_o stay_n upon_o thou_o and_o after_o that_o be_v assail_v by_o the_o infidel_n have_v persevere_v in_o the_o consideration_n of_o thy_o law_n and_o delight_v myself_o therein_o even_o so_o also_o must_v we_o do_v for_o if_o we_o see_v many_o offence_n and_o many_o thing_n which_o may_v withdraw_v we_o from_o the_o law_n of_o god_n let_v we_o overcome_v all_o that_o in_o the_o virtue_n and_o power_n of_o the_o promise_n which_o god_n have_v make_v we_o that_o by_o they_o we_o may_v be_v confirm_v in_o his_o love_n and_o bounty_n to_o the_o end_n we_o fall_v not_o into_o such_o a_o confusion_n as_o we_o see_v the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a fall_n and_o daily_o cast_v themselves_o and_o according_a too_o this_o doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v of_o our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o better_o too_o feel_v what_o taste_v we_o ought_v too_o take_v in_o his_o holy_a promise_n and_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o they_o that_o we_o may_v valiant_o fight_v against_o those_o vice_n which_o may_v hinder_v we_o to_o stay_v upon_o his_o protection_n and_o that_o by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o may_v overcome_v all_o offence_n and_o grief_n to_o the_o end_n that_o be_v fortify_v by_o his_o grace_n we_o may_v not_o have_v any_o access_n to_o satan_n whereby_o he_o may_v win_v and_o get_v of_o we_o but_o that_o we_o constant_o persevere_v in_o the_o holy_a vocation_n of_o this_o good_a god_n may_v follow_v our_o course_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v take_v we_o out_o of_o this_o world_n to_o bring_v we_o unto_o that_o heritage_n which_o he_o have_v prepare_v for_o we_o before_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o also_o which_o jesus_n christ_n have_v purchase_v for_o we_o with_o his_o most_o precious_a blood_n and_o that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v unto_o we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o to_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o eight_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n heth_n thou_o be_v my_o portion_n o_o lord_n i_o have_v determine_v to_o keep_v thy_o law_n i_o make_v my_o humble_a petition_n in_o thy_o presence_n with_o my_o whole_a heart_n o_o be_v merciful_a to_o i_o according_a too_o thy_o word_n i_o have_v consider_v my_o own_o way_n and_o turn_v my_o foot_n unto_o thy_o testimony_n i_o make_v haste_n &_o in_o the_o scripture_n be_v take_v for_o inheritance_n and_o inheritance_n be_v take_v for_o the_o chief_a and_o most_o desire_a thing_n that_o man_n have_v and_o so_o it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v that_o every_o man_n may_v divide_v it_o as_o he_o will_v and_o lust_v as_o we_o see_v the_o desire_n of_o man_n too_o be_v sundry_a and_o diverse_a one_o draw_v one_o way_n another_z another_z and_o in_o deed_n say_v he_o every_o man_n wish_v as_o he_o fantasi_v but_o as_o for_o myself_o i_o desire_v none_o other_o blessedness_n nor_o felicity_n but_o to_o content_v myself_o with_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o when_o i_o have_v this_o i_o have_v get_v a_o good_a and_o a_o excellent_a inheritance_n and_o now_o we_o see_v the_o sum_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o first_o verse_n it_o remain_v that_o we_o gather_v out_o thereof_o such_o doctrine_n as_o be_v therein_o contain_v for_o when_o we_o hear_v david_n speak_v after_o this_o manner_n there_o be_v no_o
void_a as_o at_o this_o day_n it_o be_v in_o popery_n for_o when_o they_o pray_v unto_o god_n they_o pray_v at_o all_o adventure_n and_o especial_o this_o be_v one_o of_o the_o point_n that_o the_o papist_n strive_v most_o about_o that_o we_o must_v not_o assure_v ourselves_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n that_o he_o hear_v we_o but_o remain_v in_o suspense_n forsooth_o but_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o that_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o the_o man_n which_o be_v thus_o float_v as_o the_o wave_n which_o be_v toss_v with_o the_o wind_n and_o tempest_n shall_v obtain_v any_o thing_n and_o a_o commendable_a presumption_n that_o when_o we_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o set_v down_o in_o sum_n that_o he_o will_v accomplish_v that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v we_o for_o we_o hold_v he_o as_o one_o bind_v unto_o we_o not_o that_o he_o be_v any_o thing_n in_o our_o debt_n but_o because_o that_o of_o his_o mere_a liberality_n he_o stoop_v so_o low_a as_o to_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o will_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v this_o liberty_n and_o leave_n to_o present_v ourselves_o so_o before_o he_o with_o such_o boldness_n and_o assurance_n as_o already_o i_o have_v declare_v and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o second_o verse_n in_o the_o third_o it_o follow_v i_o have_v consider_v my_o own_o way_n and_o turn_v my_o foot_n unto_o thy_o testimony_n this_o protestation_n be_v worth_a the_o note_n for_o we_o be_v admonish_v why_o it_o be_v that_o man_n so_o great_o flatter_v themselves_o in_o their_o own_o folly_n and_o device_n and_o make_v themselves_o believe_v that_o they_o will_v make_v their_o prayer_n unto_o god_n albeit_o they_o rest_v not_o upon_o he_o trust_v not_o unto_o he_o neither_o yet_o follow_v that_o which_o he_o have_v command_v they_o but_o only_o their_o own_o imagination_n and_o that_o forsooth_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o they_o think_v a_o man_n shall_v offer_v they_o great_a wrong_n if_o he_o say_v that_o all_o be_v lose_v labour_n which_o they_o have_v bestow_v &_o that_o they_o great_o torment_v themselves_o to_o no_o purpose_n except_o they_o do_v know_v that_o god_n hear_v they_o it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o every_o one_o will_v say_v and_o how_o so_o i_o beseech_v you_o wherefore_o will_v not_o god_n think_v well_o of_o that_o which_o i_o do_v since_o it_o be_v my_o final_a intent_n to_o to_o serve_v he_o no_o no_o god_n force_v not_o of_o all_o this_o and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o man_n so_o arrogaunt_o strive_v and_o spurn_v against_o god_n it_o be_v because_o they_o call_v not_o their_o way_n too_o remembrance_n for_o it_o they_o have_v this_o consideration_n and_o wisdom_n to_o look_v narrow_o unto_o their_o do_n and_o to_o think_v thus_o with_o themselves_o how_o shall_v i_o do_v in_o what_o case_n be_o i_o i_o must_v not_o go_v astray_o but_o keep_v a_o sure_a and_o certain_a way_n and_o good_a mean_a and_o to_o consider_v how_o to_o live_v and_o above_o all_o i_o must_v do_v thus_o much_o as_o that_o god_n be_v not_o disappoint_v of_o the_o soveraintie_n which_o he_o have_v over_o he_o so_o then_o when_o as_o man_n look_v well_o to_o their_o way_n it_o be_v very_o certain_a and_o sure_a that_o they_o will_v whole_o give_v themselves_o to_o follow_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therein_o take_v all_o their_o delight_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o he_o say_v on_o the_o contrary_a part_n that_o he_o will_v turn_v his_o foot_n too_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n wherein_o he_o show_v too_o all_o man_n by_o his_o example_n that_o they_o shall_v walk_v as_o god_n have_v command_v they_o and_o not_o too_o be_v rule_v after_o their_o own_o head_n and_o brain_n for_o see_v from_o whence_o this_o madness_n come_v which_o possess_v as_o it_o be_v all_o the_o whole_a world_n that_o every_o man_n will_v serve_v god_n as_o he_o think_v best_o it_o be_v because_o we_o turn_v not_o our_o foot_n unto_o his_o testimony_n now_o we_o ought_v so_o much_o the_o more_o too_o practice_v this_o which_o be_v here_o declare_v to_o wit_n to_o look_v too_o our_o way_n that_o we_o shall_v know_v that_o see_v that_o god_n have_v place_v we_o here_o in_o this_o world_n that_o he_o have_v not_o do_v it_o too_o that_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v do_v whatsoever_o our_o sense_n will_v lead_v we_o unto_o but_o our_o life_n must_v be_v order_v &_o rule_v and_o whence_o must_v we_o have_v this_o rule_n even_o from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o careful_a as_o too_o order_n and_o rule_v our_o life_n there_o remain_v no_o more_o for_o we_o to_o do_v but_o to_o follow_v even_o whether_o our_o god_n call_v us._n loe_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n lo_o his_o truth_n which_o he_o have_v declare_v unto_o we_o loe_o there_o must_v we_o place_v and_o set_v ourselves_o we_o must_v never_o hereafter_o make_v any_o more_o question_n too_o wander_v any_o long_o and_o to_o discourse_n and_o say_v why_o shall_v not_o this_o be_v good_a and_o commendable_a no_o forsooth_o not_o so_o let_v not_o we_o follow_v our_o own_o fantasy_n neither_o let_v we_o be_v wise_a in_o our_o own_o conceit_n but_o let_v we_o consider_v with_o ourselves_o to_o hear_v our_o god_n and_o obey_v he_o lo_o then_o the_o effect_n of_o this_o third_o verse_n where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o david_n look_v unto_o his_o way_n and_o that_o he_o turn_v his_o foot_n to_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n to_o the_o law_n where_o god_n have_v declare_v his_o will_n now_o he_o add_v i_o make_v haste_n and_o prolong_v not_o the_o time_n to_o keep_v thy_o commandment_n he_o continue_v his_o purpose_n but_o he_o show_v that_o this_o his_o affection_n be_v not_o slow_a i_o make_v haste_n say_v he_o yea_o and_o that_o without_o delay_n now_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o david_n put_v to_o this_o for_o we_o see_v how_o straight_o we_o ought_v too_o deal_v against_o our_o own_o appetite_n yea_o even_o they_o i_o say_v who_o be_v best_a affect_v to_o serve_v god_n do_v yet_o come_v as_o it_o be_v halt_v trail_a either_o a_o arm_n or_o a_o leg_n after_o they_o as_o we_o common_o say_v and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o such_o a_o number_n of_o corruption_n as_o that_o the_o very_a weight_n of_o they_o make_v we_o to_o go_v exceed_o slow_o so_o that_o we_o have_v much_o to_o do_v to_o go_v on_o and_o we_o know_v and_o have_v too_o too_o great_a experience_n how_o weak_a our_o nature_n be_v when_o as_o we_o intend_v to_o do_v well_o let_v we_o then_o understand_v and_o know_v these_o two_o thing_n and_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v it_o strange_a that_o we_o be_v so_o slow_a and_o slack_a to_o follow_v god_n as_o in_o deed_n we_o be_v yea_o even_o these_o two_o thing_n i_o say_v for_o behold_v satan_n will_v never_o cease_v crafty_o to_o go_v about_o to_o imagine_v whatsoever_o he_o possible_o can_v to_o cause_v we_o to_o draw_v back_o he_o will_v set_v bar_n and_o pitch_n hayes_n before_o we_o he_o will_v lay_v bush_n thorn_n and_o evil_a favour_v stumble_v block_n whatsoever_o which_v any_o way_n may_v hinder_v and_o let_v we_o that_o if_o we_o mean_v to_o march_v on_o but_o only_o three_o pace_n we_o shall_v be_v violent_o carry_v away_o to_o turn_v on_o this_o side_n and_o on_o that_o not_o know_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o us._n again_o we_o shall_v be_v solicit_v and_o move_v by_o our_o inordinate_a appetite_n to_o draw_v we_o clean_o awry_o for_o if_o we_o will_v whole_o put_v our_o trust_n in_o god_n the_o devil_n will_v draw_v we_o too_o the_o contrary_a and_o make_v we_o to_o give_v ourselves_o up_o too_o this_o worldly_a pelf_n and_o so_o consequent_o to_o all_o the_o rest_n see_v then_o that_o we_o be_v draw_v and_o hale_v with_o so_o many_o cart_n rope_n yea_o and_o be_v of_o ourselves_o so_o feeble_a to_o do_v good_a even_o burn_v after_o wickedness_n alas_o no_o marvel_n though_o we_o be_v slow_a too_o follow_v god_n but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o must_v need_v fight_v it_o be_v no_o question_n but_o that_o we_o flatter_v ourselves_o when_o as_o we_o see_v such_o slackness_n in_o ourselves_o and_o say_v in_o deed_n it_o be_v very_o true_a such_o be_v the_o state_n &_o condition_n of_o our_o nature_n and_o again_o our_o infirmity_n be_v so_o great_a as_o that_o it_o be_v a_o impossible_a thing_n for_o any_o man_n too_o discharge_v

pray_v you_o for_o if_o we_o shall_v not_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o his_o promise_n yea_o and_o although_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o may_v very_o well_o make_v our_o petition_n unto_o he_o and_o come_v before_o he_o in_o build_v ourselves_o upon_o this_o that_o he_o have_v already_o aid_v we_o of_o his_o mere_a favour_n and_o goodness_n yet_o shall_v we_o not_o for_o all_o that_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v always_o do_v the_o like_a ne_o yet_o abide_v constant_a therein_o that_o when_o he_o have_v begin_v that_o he_o will_v finish_v it_o we_o can_v never_o be_v wherein_o consist_v and_o stand_v all_o our_o wisdom_n but_o in_o faith_n when_o as_o we_o receive_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o be_v teach_v by_o it_o do_v rest_v we_o in_o that_o which_o he_o say_v unto_o we_o loe_o this_o be_v our_o full_a and_o whole_a perfection_n now_o david_n protest_v that_o he_o have_v beleve_v the_o word_n of_o god_n wherefore_o then_o desire_v he_o to_o be_v teach_v as_o if_o he_o be_v without_o knowledge_n and_o ignorant_a now_o here_o we_o be_v to_o note_v as_o we_o have_v touch_v this_o morning_n that_o we_o believe_v the_o word_n of_o god_n two_o he_o will_v yet_o better_o remember_v the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o he_o shall_v be_v so_o restore_v by_o he_o and_o raise_v up_o again_o as_o it_o be_v from_o death_n let_v we_o then_o note_n that_o david_n here_o set_v down_o a_o certain_a manner_n and_o order_n to_o show_v we_o that_o when_o god_n to_o the_o outward_a show_n shall_v seem_v to_o estrange_v himself_o yet_o we_o must_v take_v heed_n that_o the_o same_o keep_v we_o not_o from_o have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o now_o it_o may_v very_o well_o seem_v that_o god_n sometime_o think_v not_o of_o we_o but_o special_o when_o he_o shall_v suffer_v the_o wicked_a to_o run_v whether_o they_o lift_v and_o let_v they_o do_v whatsoever_o they_o desire_v now_o this_o be_v a_o terrible_a temptation_n and_o why_o for_o on_o the_o one_o side_n we_o look_v that_o if_o god_n take_v we_o for_o his_o child_n &_o love_v we_o as_o he_o testify_v shall_v he_o not_o by_o and_o by_o have_v compassion_n of_o our_o misery_n shall_v he_o not_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o help_v we_o when_o then_o he_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v thus_o unjust_o tread_v under_o foot_n it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o he_o have_v forsake_v we_o and_o that_o against_o he_o when_o as_o they_o give_v themselves_o licence_n to_o do_v wicked_o that_o whatsoever_o can_v besayed_z unto_o they_o they_o can_v never_o be_v bring_v too_o goodness_n and_o yet_o we_o to_o be_v afflict_v but_o for_o a_o little_a while_n yet_o the_o same_o last_v so_o with_o we_o as_o that_o we_o be_v vex_v even_o to_o the_o uttermoste_a will_v say_v i_o know_v not_o where_o and_o that_o which_o be_v more_o david_n say_v in_o a_o other_o place_n that_o if_o man_n be_v lay_v in_o one_o school_n &_o vanity_n in_o a_o other_o that_o vanity_n which_o be_v nothing_o will_v way_n down_o man_n great_o and_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v too_o stand_v long_o dispute_v of_o this_o for_o every_o man_n by_o his_o own_o experience_n can_v testify_v what_o it_o be_v and_o what_o it_o can_v do_v albeit_o there_o be_v nothing_o write_v nor_o yet_o any_o thing_n thereof_o contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n what_o rest_v there_o then_o for_o we_o to_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v seek_v for_o our_o constancy_n else_o where_o then_o in_o ourselves_o now_o god_n give_v we_o a_o very_a good_a mean_a if_o we_o will_v take_v it_o which_o be_v to_o build_v and_o settle_v ourselves_o upon_o his_o word_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v 40.8_o isai_n 40.8_o that_o the_o prophet_n esaiah_n say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n endure_v for_o ever_o he_o have_v speak_v before_o of_o the_o frailty_n and_o fickleness_n of_o man_n as_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v more_o &_o although_o it_o may_v seem_v that_o there_o be_v some_o strength_n in_o they_o it_o be_v yet_o incontinent_a clean_a parch_a and_o dry_v up_o that_o it_o vanish_v away_o into_o less_o than_o nothing_o but_o he_o conclude_v and_o say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n abide_v for_o ever_o so_o then_o see_v the_o mean_a how_o that_o man_n although_o they_o be_v transitory_a and_o have_v constancy_n at_o all_o in_o they_o shall_v notwithstanding_o have_v a_o perfect_a constancy_n and_o sure_a estate_n to_o wit_n when_o as_o they_o shall_v stay_v themselves_o upon_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o his_o word_n
according_a to_o this_o it_o be_v here_o say_v thy_o word_n o_o lord_n abide_v for_o ever_o in_o heaven_n some_o expound_v this_o as_o if_o it_o have_v be_v say_v that_o because_o the_o heaven_n have_v continue_v long_o they_o render_v a_o good_a testimony_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n but_o here_o david_n namely_o speak_v of_o the_o heaven_n because_o we_o see_v by_o they_o a_o more_o manifest_a sign_n of_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n than_o we_o see_v here_o below_o on_o earth_n and_o in_o deed_n in_o that_o we_o be_v rude_a and_o earthly_a we_o have_v need_v to_o have_v god_n to_o guide_v we_o and_o too_o lift_v up_o our_o mind_n when_o that_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o think_v on_o he_o too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v forget_v the_o world_n &_o all_o the_o corruptible_a thing_n here_o beneath_o see_v they_o the_o reason_n why_o david_n in_o this_o make_v the_o seat_n and_o house_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n because_o we_o have_v need_n to_o look_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o high_a than_o into_o our_o own_o sense_n when_o we_o will_v comprehend_v how_o god_n be_v true_a and_o faithful_a when_o we_o will_v feel_v the_o certainty_n and_o assurance_n of_o his_o word_n we_o must_v enter_v into_o a_o more_o deep_a consideration_n than_o our_o sense_n be_v able_a too_o bear_v and_o not_o look_v so_o into_o the_o visible_a thing_n or_o into_o that_o which_o we_o shake_v through_o the_o alteration_n and_o change_n which_o here_o we_o see_v no_o otherwise_o but_o by_o the_o lightness_n and_o inconstancy_n of_o man_n when_o as_o they_o do_v nothing_o else_o truth_n be_v never_o subject_v too_o any_o change_n we_o see_v now_o in_o sum_n what_o the_o substance_n be_v that_o be_v contain_v in_o these_o three_o verse_n now_o that_o we_o may_v apply_v all_o this_o too_o our_o use_n and_o too_o make_v our_o profit_n hereof_o let_v we_o learn_v too_o have_v recourse_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v astonysh_v and_o know_v not_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o too_o wit_n all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n for_o there_o pass_v not_o one_o quiet_a day_n over_o our_o head_n wherein_o we_o be_v not_o move_v too_o think_v either_o of_o this_o thing_n or_o of_o that_o sometime_o the_o temptation_n be_v easy_a too_o overcome_v but_o after_o we_o shall_v see_v some_o apparaunce_n of_o danger_n that_o shall_v trouble_v we_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o yea_o and_o some_o one_o threat_n or_o other_o we_o shall_v have_v that_o shall_v even_o abash_v us._n and_o if_o that_o be_v not_o so_o yet_o shall_v we_o have_v occasion_n enough_o in_o out_o head_n too_o make_v we_o unquiet_a that_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o be_v otherwise_o trouble_v but_o every_o one_o of_o we_o have_v in_o himself_o store_n of_o tempest_n &_o storm_n so_o that_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o our_o own_o very_a fantasye_n they_o will_v be_v so_o many_o whyrlewinde_n too_o make_v we_o never_o to_o have_v quiet_a mind_n now_o see_v then_o a_o good_a remedy_n that_o be_v let_v we_o know_v that_o although_o we_o be_v environ_v with_o a_o great_a number_n of_o danger_n although_o there_o be_v no_o certainty_n in_o our_o life_n although_o there_o be_v always_o a_o hundred_o death_n before_o our_o eye_n yea_o that_o we_o think_v the_o devil_n shall_v swallow_v we_o up_o every_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n yet_o must_v we_o be_v peaceable_a and_o hold_v ourselves_o quiet_a and_o still_o because_o that_o god_n have_v lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o his_o word_n and_o that_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o keep_v our_o life_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o certify_v we_o that_o he_o have_v care_n both_o of_o our_o soul_n and_o body_n let_v we_o know_v and_o be_v certain_o assure_v that_o herein_o consist_v all_o our_o constancy_n so_o then_o let_v we_o right_o apply_v this_o doctrine_n for_o our_o instruction_n that_o when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v permanent_a in_o heaven_n that_o his_o truth_n show_v itself_o from_o age_n to_o age_n &_o so_o continue_v that_o it_o be_v namely_o speak_v to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v patient_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o the_o trouble_n giefe_n and_o anguish_v which_o we_o may_v have_v be_v shake_v amid_o so_o many_o danger_n and_o also_o see_v the_o endless_a and_o incessant_a change_n which_o be_v here_o beneath_o and_o nothing_o else_o but_o all_o unquietness_n let_v we_o then_o see_v what_o be_v here_o to_o be_v consider_v for_o the_o first_o point_n we_o must_v not_o seek_v to_o take_v our_o rest_n in_o this_o world_n for_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v it_o here_o but_o let_v we_o always_o have_v our_o recourse_n too_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n moreover_o let_v we_o see_v if_o we_o can_v right_o practice_v this_o doctrine_n that_o nothing_o hinder_v we_o but_o that_o we_o may_v live_v in_o peace_n and_o tranquillity_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o most_o great_a and_o dangerous_a confusion_n which_o may_v light_v upon_o us._n let_v we_o also_o see_v that_o whether_o the_o wind_n blow_v in_o this_o corner_n or_o in_o that_o that_o there_o be_v garboil_n of_o war_n that_o there_o be_v pestilence_n &_o famine_n and_o such_o like_a that_o it_o seem_v we_o shall_v perish_v a_o thousand_o manner_n of_o way_n yet_o all_o they_o which_o settle_v themselves_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n will_v never_o be_v but_o certain_a for_o they_o shall_v feel_v both_o in_o life_n and_o death_n that_o they_o be_v in_o his_o hand_n and_o protection_n and_o have_v this_o confidence_n with_o themselves_o they_o will_v make_v no_o reckon_n of_o all_o whatsoever_o shall_v come_v unto_o they_o as_o we_o see_v saint_n paul_n command_v we_o too_o exalte_n ourselves_o against_o all_o thing_n present_a and_o too_o come_v so_o that_o we_o be_v full_o resolve_v that_o god_n love_v us._n when_o this_o shall_v be_v in_o we_o 8.38.39_o rom._n 8.38.39_o and_o we_o shall_v have_v hereof_o a_o good_a testimony_n in_o our_o own_o conscience_n through_o faith_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n loe_o how_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o and_o solace_v ourselves_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o our_o trouble_n and_o confusion_n which_o here_o we_o see_v and_o by_o that_o mean_n be_v never_o at_o peace_n and_o rest_n and_o not_o too_o be_v great_o turmoil_v for_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v come_v unto_o we_o the_o next_o day_n and_o why_o so_o for_o have_v god_n who_o have_v declare_v himself_o unto_o we_o too_o be_v our_o father_n speak_v it_o but_o for_o a_o day_n only_o where_o as_o he_o have_v testify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o will_v have_v our_o salvation_n in_o his_o hand_n be_v here_o any_o time_n lymit_v now_o we_o see_v too_o the_o contrary_a that_o god_n say_v that_o he_o will_v never_o forsake_v us._n our_o hope_n then_o
unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o sum_n it_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v say_v that_o no_o man_n be_v able_a right_o to_o feel_v how_o god_n be_v faithful_a and_o his_o word_n certain_a in_o death_n &_o preserve_v our_o health_n notwithstanding_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v swallow_v up_o in_o the_o gulf_n do_v we_o not_o see_v a_o good_a proufe_v give_v we_o from_o god_n how_o firm_a &_o sound_v it_o be_v so_o then_o let_v we_o well_o consider_v as_o we_o have_v already_o say_v that_o since_o we_o have_v know_v the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v such_o as_o it_o be_v here_o show_v we_o we_o may_v in_o such_o sort_n resist_v all_o the_o great_a temptation_n which_o the_o devil_n be_v able_a crafty_o to_o work_v against_o we_o so_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o escape_v as_o it_o be_v both_o from_o death_n and_o the_o grave_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o now_o for_o the_o second_o point_n david_n show_v we_o how_o it_o be_v that_o we_o be_v preserve_v in_o all_o our_o affliction_n by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n how_o our_o life_n shall_v be_v saulfe_a &_o our_o health_n assure_v thereby_o and_o that_o be_v if_o we_o delight_v therein_o to_o wit_n that_o we_o be_v so_o comfort_v with_o the_o love_n which_o god_n there_o show_v we_o and_o wherewith_o he_o certifi_v we_o that_o since_o he_o have_v adopt_v we_o for_o his_o child_n he_o will_v therefore_o always_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v our_o father_n wherefore_o we_o may_v bold_o recommend_v our_o soul_n unto_o he_o and_o he_o will_v receive_v they_o so_o that_o distrust_n and_o doubt_n to_o reason_v how_o it_o go_v and_o afterward_o wander_v after_o creature_n or_o else_o build_v upon_o ourselves_o if_o we_o be_v so_o changeable_a we_o shall_v never_o feel_v any_o virtue_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o may_v be_v overthrow_v a_o hundred_o time_n the_o lead_n affliction_n in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v as_o a_o gulf_n to_o swallow_v we_o up_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v the_o main_n sea_n but_o even_o a_o finger_n depth_n of_o water_n too_o smouth_o and_o drown_v we_o if_o it_o be_v not_o that_o we_o have_v learn_v of_o david_n to_o be_v assure_v of_o the_o love_n which_o god_n bear_v we_o and_o that_o by_o his_o word_n so_o then_o let_v we_o understand_v what_o the_o true_a delight_n of_o the_o faithful_a be_v and_o that_o which_o preserve_v they_o from_o death_n &_o quicken_v they_o that_o be_v when_o they_o be_v content_v with_o the_o love_n of_o god_n to_o set_v their_o whole_a felicity_n there_o to_o have_v he_o to_o be_v merciful_a and_o favourable_a to_o have_v this_o privilege_n to_o have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v hear_v they_o see_v i_o say_v how_o we_o shall_v be_v quicken_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n now_o when_o that_o david_n have_v declare_v the_o profit_n which_o he_o receive_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o law_n he_o add_v that_o he_o will_v never_o forget_v it_o wherein_o he_o protest_v that_o he_o will_v not_o be_v unthankful_a to_o god_n as_o we_o be_v accustom_v now_o although_o we_o be_v not_o without_o a_o great_a number_n of_o vice_n yet_o be_v this_o one_o of_o the_o great_a that_o we_o do_v not_o only_o so_o oftentimes_o suffer_v the_o benefit_n of_o god_n to_o escape_v out_o of_o our_o mind_n but_o we_o be_v also_o so_o wicked_a as_o that_o we_o desire_v nothing_o more_o than_o for_o to_o bury_v they_o we_o think_v we_o shall_v have_v never_o time_n enough_o utter_o to_o forget_v they_o see_v i_o say_v the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o our_o vile_a and_o corrupt_a nature_n and_o therefore_o david_n in_o this_o place_n protest_v that_o he_o will_v never_o forget_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n because_o he_o have_v be_v quicken_v by_o they_o and_o moreover_o he_o speak_v it_o not_o only_o for_o himself_o but_o show_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o example_n what_o our_o office_n &_o duty_n be_v when_o god_n then_o shall_v have_v thus_o aid_v we_o in_o our_o affliction_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v raise_v we_o up_o even_o from_o the_o grave_n through_o the_o might_n and_o power_n of_o his_o word_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v feel_v such_o a_o benefit_n let_v we_o never_o forget_v it_o but_o be_v always_o mindful_a thereof_o and_o yet_o david_n mean_v to_o show_v unto_o we_o a_o far_a point_n to_o wit_n that_o of_o we_o which_o have_v scarce_o receive_v one_o drop_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o respect_n and_o comparison_n of_o this_o holy_a mane_n and_o so_o â—et_v we_o consider_v to_o be_v the_o more_o watchful_a over_o ourselves_o so_o often_o as_o god_n show_v we_o any_o token_n that_o he_o be_v judge_n and_o call_v the_o ungodly_a to_o a_o account_v that_o at_o the_o jest_n we_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o run_v unto_o he_o for_o refuge_n and_o to_o love_v his_o word_n now_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n to_o conclude_v david_n add_v my_o flesh_n tremble_v for_o fear_n of_o thou_o and_o i_o be_o afraid_a because_o of_o thy_o judgement_n here_o david_n set_v down_o two_o thing_n which_o seem_v at_o the_o first_o sight_n not_o to_o agree_v together_o for_o it_o may_v be_v say_v that_o this_o fear_v whereof_o he_o speak_v can_n no_o way_n agree_v with_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o sweet_a harmony_n between_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o and_o why_o so_o for_o as_o the_o faithless_a in_o fear_v god_n wax_v desperate_a &_o be_v so_o throw_v down_o that_o they_o can_v never_o have_v that_o boldness_n to_o come_v near_o unto_o he_o even_o so_o on_o the_o contrary_a side_n there_o be_v a_o frank_a &_o free_a fear_n in_o those_o which_o be_v govern_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o bear_v a_o reverence_n unto_o his_o word_n to_o make_v they_o tremble_v before_o it_o for_o by_o the_o judgement_n which_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o he_o mean_v not_o the_o punishment_n only_o which_o god_n execute_v but_o now_o he_o treat_v as_o he_o do_v throughout_o the_o whole_a psalm_n either_o of_o statute_n or_o else_o of_o ordinance_n which_o be_v to_o direct_v our_o life_n as_o also_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n say_v that_o the_o faithful_a tremble_v at_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n that_o they_o conceive_v his_o incomprehensible_a majesty_n in_o his_o word_n and_o thereupon_o be_v humble_v but_o yet_o they_o cease_v not_o thereto_o but_o the_o fear_n which_o serve_v to_o none_o other_o end_n but_o to_o astonish_v the_o wicked_a which_o only_o feel_v a_o hell_n in_o their_o conscience_n and_o yet_o have_v no_o taste_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n this_o fear_n i_o say_v serve_v to_o none_o other_o purpose_n but_o to_o shut_v up_o the_o gate_n against_o these_o miserable_a accurse_a people_n without_o all_o hope_n of_o salvation_n now_o david_n speak_v of_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lead_v we_o to_o a_o deep_a and_o a_o more_o weighty_a consideration_n for_o his_o meaning_n be_v to_o show_v unto_o we_o how_o that_o god_n be_v our_o father_n and_o saviour_n and_o that_o he_o free_o draw_v we_o unto_o himself_o as_o already_o he_o have_v declare_v according_a to_o this_o holy_a doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_a ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o too_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v the_o sweetness_n of_o his_o word_n as_o his_o servant_n david_n have_v be_v thereon_o thorough_o settle_v too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v have_v such_o a_o fervent_a affection_n to_o it_o as_o that_o forth_o his_o hand_n unto_o we_o to_o keep_v and_o hold_v we_o in_o his_o protection_n unto_o the_o end_n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n these_o contemner_n of_o god_n which_o will_v even_o lift_v they_o velue_v up_o against_o he_o and_o pour_v out_o their_o blasphemy_n &_o be_v it_o meet_v that_o we_o dissemble_v this_o no_o not_o so_o but_o let_v we_o rather_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o groan_v yea_o to_o cry_v out_o with_o a_o loud_a voice_n beseech_v god_n too_o stretch_v forth_o his_o mighty_a and_o strong_a arm_n against_o such_o villain_n &_o fire_n brand_n of_o hell_n such_o upholder_n of_o satan_n which_o thus_o come_v too_o defile_v the_o sacred_a and_o holy_a thing_n of_o god_n which_o his_o majesty_n sorrowefull_a for_o the_o same_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o further_a matter_n to_o be_v require_v at_o our_o hand_n which_o be_v this_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o hear_v the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o be_v blaspheme_v and_o his_o majesty_n violate_v we_o shall_v be_v torment_v and_o feel_v a_o great_a grief_n for_o the_o same_o then_o for_o all_o the_o evil_a that_o may_v come_v unto_o ourselves_o for_o it_o be_v very_o good_a reason_n that_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v more_o dear_a unto_o we_o without_o all_o comparison_n than_o our_o own_o person_n and_o life_n now_o since_o it_o be_v so_o that_o if_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v sorrowefull_a when_o as_o we_o see_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v forget_v by_o other_o even_o to_o begin_v at_o the_o best_a end_n if_o the_o evil_n be_v find_v in_o we_o as_o satan_n move_v we_o to_o fall_v unto_o wickedness_n and_o we_o be_v very_o far_o of_o from_o true_o serve_v of_o god_n and_o look_v to_o his_o word_n with_o such_o fear_n and_o humility_n as_o in_o deed_n we_o ought_v since_o then_o i_o say_v we_o be_v so_o great_o to_o be_v amend_v that_o we_o have_v so_o many_o sin_n fight_v against_o the_o law_n of_o god_n even_o so_o much_o the_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o sigh_v and_o groan_n as_o saint_n paul_n right_a well_o show_v we_o say_v oh_o accurse_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o out_o this_o mortal_a body_n loe_o here_o saint_n paul_n in_o show_v their_o condition_n &_o state_n to_o be_v miserable_a which_o live_v in_o this_o world_n exhort_v they_o to_o groan_v and_o to_o a_o continual_a sorrow_n and_o care_n because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a full_o and_o thorough_o to_o yield_v themselves_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o that_o whensoever_o we_o shall_v do_v but_o even_o so_o much_o we_o shall_v render_v a_o true_a proufe_v and_o testimony_n of_o our_o faith_n &_o christianity_n now_o it_o follow_v soon_o after_o thy_o word_n be_v prove_v most_o pure_a and_o thy_o servant_n love_v it_o here_o it_o very_o seem_v as_o we_o have_v before_o say_v that_o david_n bring_v in_o a_o most_o manifest_a sentence_n yea_o know_v even_o unto_o the_o simple_a to_o wit_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v pure_a and_o clean_a without_o spot_n and_o blemish_v but_o what_o let_v we_o see_v a_o little_a whether_o we_o put_v this_o purity_n in_o practice_n or_o not_o alas_o we_o be_v far_o from_o it_o for_o even_o then_o we_o may_v say_v the_o word_n of_o god_n too_o be_v pure_a and_o without_o spot_n when_o as_o without_o any_o gaynesay_n we_o only_o trust_v in_o he_o and_o that_o we_o have_v a_o true_a certainty_n of_o our_o salvation_n because_o he_o have_v once_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n unto_o we_o and_o promise_v never_o too_o fail_v us._n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o confidence_n in_o god_n that_o we_o may_v bold_o walk_v through_o death_n and_o the_o very_a gulf_n of_o hell_n that_o in_o see_v the_o bottomless_a pit_n open_v too_o swallow_v we_o up_o we_o shall_v not_o doubt_v of_o our_o saufetie_n since_o that_o we_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n lo_o how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v pure_a unto_o us._n but_o now_o be_v we_o all_o in_o a_o clean_a contrary_a vain_a and_o from_o whence_o come_v this_o it_o be_v because_o we_o be_v full_a of_o infinite_a filthiness_n and_o pollution_n to_o be_v short_a there_o be_v nothing_o but_o stench_n in_o we_o and_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v defile_v let_v we_o first_o begin_v at_o our_o eye_n and_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o number_n of_o filthy_a troublesome_a and_o glimpse_a gloating_n to_o wit_n such_o a_o number_n of_o vanity_n which_o hinder_v we_o too_o know_v the_o purity_n that_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o lo_o we_o have_v already_o lose_v one_o of_o our_o sense_n afterward_o we_o be_v deprive_v of_o our_o hear_n because_o our_o ear_n be_v so_o fill_v with_o such_o trifle_a yea_o and_o perverse_a matter_n that_o we_o can_v give_v no_o ear_n unto_o god_n or_o else_o that_o which_o enter_v in_o at_o one_o ear_n go_v out_o at_o another_o as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o this_o be_v already_o a_o great_a vice_n in_o we_o to_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o to_o receive_v but_o one_o good_a lesson_n the_o second_o be_v no_o whit_n less_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v get_v even_o a_o very_a little_a it_o shall_v incontinent_a so_o melt_v away_o from_o we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v more_o of_o it_o we_o see_v how_o jolly_a and_o frisk_a our_o foot_n and_o hand_n be_v when_o as_o we_o hear_v any_o talk_n of_o ribaldry_n and_o filthiness_n and_o altogether_o dull_a and_o senseless_a when_o any_o speech_n be_v of_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n there_o be_v never_o a_o finger_n in_o our_o hand_n but_o will_v be_v as_o good_a as_o a_o raysour_n to_o cut_v even_o to_o the_o quick_a if_o any_o talk_n shall_v be_v have_v to_o offend_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o we_o shall_v not_o find_v one_o man_n that_o will_v once_o lift_v himself_o up_o too_o do_v any_o good_a see_v how_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v corrupt_a and_o how_o full_a of_o pollution_n and_o filthiness_n and_o this_o be_v it_o which_o hinder_v we_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o know_v how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v try_v now_o it_o follow_v i_o be_o small_a and_o of_o no_o reputation_n yet_o do_v i_o not_o forget_v thy_o commandment_n this_o say_n here_o import_v more_o than_o at_o the_o first_o sight_n it_o seem_v to_o do_v it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o it_o shall_v seem_v a_o far_o hard_a matter_n for_o the_o mighty_a man_n of_o this_o world_n to_o serve_v god_n then_o the_o mean_a sort_n in_o so_o much_o as_o we_o will_v never_o account_v it_o strange_a if_o a_o man_n of_o base_a condition_n have_v not_o forget_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o we_o so_o great_o prattle_v jangle_n and_o lift_v up_o ourselves_o so_o cause_n when_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v in_o any_o credit_n estimation_n and_o reputation_n he_o imagine_v unto_o himself_o a_o idol_n in_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o hereupon_o forget_v god_n and_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v no_o long_o under_o his_o government_n when_o then_o our_o lord_n god_n hold_v we_o in_o a_o low_a estate_n he_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n and_o force_v we_o by_o this_o mean_v not_o to_o forget_v his_o commandment_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o fear_n with_o all_o humility_n but_o david_n his_o meaning_n tend_v to_o another_o end_n that_o be_v although_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v contemn_v yet_o cease_v he_o not_o to_o love_v god_n now_o as_o i_o have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o here_o set_v down_o without_o cause_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o when_o god_n liberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o great_a store_n of_o benefit_n then_o be_v we_o so_o blockish_a as_o that_o we_o think_v ourselves_o least_o beholden_a unto_o he_o and_o contrariwise_o they_o upon_o who_o he_o have_v not_o bestow_v such_o grace_n think_v themselves_o for_o their_o part_n not_o so_o great_o bind_v unto_o he_o and_o in_o very_a deed_n the_o world_n will_v always_o find_v start_v hole_n to_o keep_v itself_o out_o from_o the_o service_n
