and_o sow_v his_o seed_n how_o can_v they_o be_v call_v guide_n unto_o other_o which_o either_o know_v not_o the_o way_n themselves_o or_o else_o will_v not_o vouchsafe_v to_o open_v and_o declare_v it_o to_o other_o how_o can_v they_o be_v call_v steward_n which_o have_v no_o care_n of_o the_o household_n which_o either_o can_v not_o or_o will_v not_o feed_v they_o and_o how_o can_v they_o be_v call_v the_o lord_n messenger_n which_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v their_o message_n or_o have_v no_o care_n at_o all_o to_o do_v it_o if_o the_o minister_n be_v a_o light_n to_o the_o people_n of_o necessity_n he_o must_v needs_o go_v and_o shine_v before_o they_o in_o knowledge_n and_o doctrine_n if_o he_o be_v the_o salt_n he_o must_v needs_o season_v if_o he_o be_v a_o pastor_n or_o shepherd_n he_o must_v needs_o feed_v if_o he_o be_v a_o husbandman_n he_o must_v needs_o have_v a_o care_n of_o the_o lord_n husbandry_n if_o he_o be_v a_o guide_n he_o must_v needs_o show_v the_o way_n if_o he_o be_v a_o steward_n he_o must_v provide_v for_o the_o household_n if_o he_o be_v a_o messenger_n he_o must_v be_v willing_a and_o able_a to_o do_v his_o message_n nay_o i_o say_v more_o it_o stand_v for_o the_o lord_n glory_n and_o credit_n to_o have_v such_o pastor_n and_o such_o husband_n man_n such_o steward_n &_o messenger_n as_o have_v wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n the_o poor_a people_n of_o the_o country_n will_v not_o hire_v he_o to_o be_v a_o shepherd_n to_o their_o sheep_n who_o they_o know_v to_o be_v ignorant_a and_o careless_a and_o shall_v the_o lord_n choose_v such_o to_o govern_v and_o guide_v his_o stock_n the_o gentleman_n and_o the_o yeoman_n will_v not_o hire_v any_o to_o be_v overseer_n of_o their_o husbandry_n except_o they_o know_v they_o to_o have_v sufficient_a discretion_n and_o experience_n and_o will_v he_o think_v you_o be_v content_a with_o simple_a foolish_a and_o reckless_a overseer_n of_o his_o so_o dear_a and_o precious_a a_o husbandry_n the_o noble_a man_n for_o his_o honour_n sake_n will_v seek_v to_o have_v such_o a_o one_o to_o be_v the_o steward_n of_o his_o house_n as_o be_v trusty_a wise_a &_o of_o sufficiency_n to_o guide_v and_o govern_v a_o whole_a household_n and_o shall_v the_o lord_n be_v less_o careful_a of_o his_o honour_n shall_v he_o be_v content_a with_o unwise_a and_o unfaithful_a steward_n the_o prince_n will_v have_v a_o special_a care_n to_o send_v such_o to_o be_v his_o messenger_n and_o ambassador_n as_o be_v most_o wise_a &_o faithful_a &_o be_v able_a discreet_o and_o cunning_o to_o do_v their_o message_n and_o shall_v the_o lord_n messenger_n be_v without_o knowledge_n what_o can_v be_v more_o to_o the_o discredit_n and_o dishonour_n of_o his_o holy_a name_n this_o argument_n our_o hand_n preach_v the_o lord_n have_v ordain_v pastor_n &_o teacher_n for_o the_o gather_v together_o of_o his_o saint_n and_o to_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n see_v they_o profit_n what_o power_n in_o the_o effectual_a preach_n of_o the_o word_n how_o careless_a how_o profane_a how_o ignorant_a how_o lewd_a you_o be_v before_o notwithstanding_o the_o daily_a and_o the_o ordinary_a reading_n which_o diligent_o you_o have_v what_o have_v wrought_v in_o you_o y_o â—_o measure_n of_o faith_n y_fw-fr â—_o heavenly_a knowledge_n which_o you_o now_o have_v what_o be_v it_o that_o have_v wrought_v in_o you_o such_o a_o sorrow_n of_o your_o former_a life_n such_o a_o grief_n &_o hatred_n of_o sin_n and_o superstition_n both_o in_o yourselves_o and_o other_o such_o a_o earnest_a zeal_n of_o the_o
word_n such_o a_o conscience_n &_o a_o care_n to_o reform_v yourselves_o &_o your_o household_n what_o i_o say_v have_v wrought_v these_o thing_n in_o you_o how_o come_v you_o by_o they_o what_o be_v it_o that_o have_v so_o alter_v your_o mind_n deed_n &_o affection_n let_v your_o conscience_n be_v witness_n to_o i_o in_o this_o matter_n i_o be_o sure_a you_o will_v approve_v y_o it_o which_o i_o have_v speak_v &_o acknowledge_v the_o profit_n the_o power_n and_o necessity_n of_o the_o word_n preach_v all_o &_o every_o one_o of_o these_o argument_n do_v prove_v and_o confirm_v as_o i_o think_v quite_o overthrow_v and_o condemn_v all_o dumb_a idle_a &_o careless_a minister_n whatsoever_o one_o day_n they_o shall_v know_v what_o account_n he_o make_v of_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n for_o see_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o so_o many_o place_n require_v in_o a_o minister_n preach_v yea_o diligent_a and_o careful_a preach_n in_o what_o a_o miserable_a and_o damnable_a ministry_n with_o a_o holy_a and_o pure_a affection_n the_o lord_n will_v bless_v 29._o you_o to_o he_o that_o have_v shall_v be_v give_v we_o can_v at_o the_o first_o come_v to_o perfection_n 26._o apollo_n a_o learned_a doctor_n fervent_a in_o the_o spirit_n and_o mighty_a in_o the_o scripture_n yet_o be_v he_o ignorant_a in_o some_o thing_n and_o receive_v instruction_n from_o aquila_n and_o priscilla_n some_o have_v more_o than_o other_o some_o have_v ten_o talentes_fw-la some_o five_o and_o some_o but_o one_o yet_o always_o remember_v and_o let_v it_o never_o slip_v out_o of_o your_o mind_n that_o the_o slothful_a and_o unprofitable_a servant_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o utter_a darkness_n there_o shall_v be_v weep_v and_o gnash_n of_o tooth_n against_o such_o i_o speak_v which_o in_o deed_n never_o have_v any_o one_o talon_n or_o any_o gift_n of_o minister_n or_o have_v any_o do_v either_o abuse_v they_o or_o at_o least_o do_v not_o put_v they_o soorth_o to_o any_o profitable_a use_n consider_v a_o little_a the_o state_n of_o our_o ministry_n there_o be_v some_o amongst_o we_o sacrifice_v and_o massing_n priest_n full_a of_o manifest_a superstition_n and_o hypocrisy_n and_o in_o truth_n enemy_n to_o christ_n religion_n other_o there_o be_v altogether_o ignorant_a unlearned_a very_a idol_n they_o can_v do_v what_o even_o just_a nothing_o other_o there_o be_v which_o may_v have_v some_o ground_n of_o learning_n but_o in_o deed_n they_o utter_v very_o little_a neither_o be_v y_o â—_o people_n better_v by_o they_o some_o be_v idle_a some_o careless_a some_o altogether_o lewd_a and_o profane_a some_o join_v live_v to_o live_v and_o take_v more_o upon_o they_o than_o they_o can_v discharge_v although_o it_o may_v be_v they_o speak_v in_o one_o place_n yet_o be_v they_o dumb_a in_o a_o other_o all_o these_o and_o such_o like_a be_v worthy_a of_o blame_n to_o be_v open_o speak_v against_o because_o they_o open_o commit_v offence_n all_o these_o stand_v daily_o in_o a_o miserable_a and_o damnable_a state_n without_o repentance_n but_o my_o chief_a drift_n at_o this_o time_n in_o this_o part_n of_o my_o text_n be_v to_o prove_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v that_o everye_o minister_n approve_v of_o god_n must_v preach_v that_o be_v he_o must_v feed_v the_o people_n he_o must_v cut_v the_o word_n â—_o of_o god_n he_o must_v improove_v rebuke_n exhort_v he_o must_v not_o simple_o or_o barelye_o read_v or_o hear_v the_o people_n say_v some_o catechism_n but_o he_o be_v to_o be_v able_a in_o some_o sufficient_a measure_n to_o open_v &_o interpret_v the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o apply_v they_o &_o i_o hope_v that_o this_o be_v already_o prove_v only_o i_o exhort_v you_o to_o account_v the_o lord_n wise_a to_o rest_v in_o his_o only_o read_v the_o ordinary_a service_n and_o sometime_o hear_v a_o few_o child_n to_o say_v a_o catechism_n without_o book_n as_o it_o be_v set_v down_o before_o he_o then_o may_v the_o clerk_n also_o of_o the_o town_n be_v count_v a_o minister_n and_o teacher_n then_o may_v every_o husbandman_n servingman_n nay_o every_o boy_n or_o child_n that_o can_v do_v much_o be_v so_o count_v let_v not_o some_o say_v for_o defence_n of_o ignorant_a minister_n that_o if_o they_o do_v that_o which_o they_o can_v do_v it_o will_v serve_v the_o turn_n for_o in_o the_o build_n of_o a_o house_n as_o there_o be_v some_o master_n builder_n which_o bring_v timber_n and_o stone_n so_o other_o there_o be_v which_o bring_v mortar_n and_o filling_n and_o serve_v to_o necessary_a use_n but_o let_v we_o remember_v y_o it_o everye_o minister_n in_o his_o charge_n be_v or_o ought_v to_o be_v a_o builder_n yea_o a_o master_n builder_n and_o if_o the_o chief_a builder_n bring_v nothing_o but_o fillinge_n how_o shall_v you_o â—_o lord_n build_n in_o y_fw-es â—_o place_n go_v forward_o the_o apostle_n in_o y_fw-es â—_o place_n which_o have_v be_v already_o twice_o allege_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n resurrection_n of_o eternal_a judgement_n be_v able_a to_o say_v nothing_o to_o any_o purpose_n but_o yet_o let_v it_o be_v so_o that_o some_o can_v do_v this_o they_o can_v teach_v as_o they_o say_v in_o some_o measure_n they_o can_v catechise_v &_o lay_v the_o ground_n of_o religion_n yet_o this_o will_v not_o serve_v the_o turn_n there_o must_v be_v building_n after_o the_o foundation_n there_o yea_o some_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o count_v it_o erroneous_a and_o heretical_a if_o i_o will_v stand_v upon_o the_o authority_n of_o man_n i_o can_v allege_v for_o the_o confirmation_n of_o the_o very_a word_n which_o i_o have_v speak_v the_o judgement_n of_o those_o which_o by_o common_a consent_n of_o all_o true_a christian_n be_v receive_v and_o allow_v as_o the_o best_a most_o learned_a and_o most_o pure_a divine_n that_o ever_o be_v since_o the_o time_n of_o the_o apostle_n but_o this_o i_o hope_v shall_v not_o need_v for_o if_o of_o necessity_n every_o minister_n ought_v to_o preach_v or_o if_o all_o the_o former_a argument_n will_v serve_v to_o prove_v this_o then_o also_o that_o other_o doctrine_n how_o strange_a and_o absurd_a soever_o some_o count_n it_o must_v i_o baptise_v that_o he_o teach_v say_v go_v teach_v 19_o and_o baptise_v no_o teacher_n no_o baptiser_n that_o which_o god_n have_v join_v together_o let_v no_o man_n put_v asunder_o sainte_n paul_n speak_v of_o the_o lord_n supper_n as_o often_o say_v he_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o 26_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o show_v the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v if_o the_o do_v but_o say_v their_o belief_n open_o before_o the_o congregation_n but_o we_o speak_v of_o a_o singular_a of_o a_o effectual_a of_o a_o excellent_a and_o lively_a show_v of_o his_o death_n which_o be_v by_o preach_v the_o apostle_n speak_v to_o the_o galatian_n say_v i_o hat_n jesus_n christ_n be_v 1._o describe_v in_o their_o sight_n and_o among_o they_o crucify_v his_o meaning_n be_v that_o their_o forefather_n they_o know_v not_o the_o use_n of_o the_o sacrament_n or_o to_o what_o end_n they_o serve_v they_o hold_v still_o their_o papistical_a transubstantiation_n some_o say_v they_o receive_v their_o maker_n other_o say_v they_o never_o hear_v what_o a_o sacrament_n mean_v some_o say_v they_o do_v it_o in_o a_o good_a intent_n and_o yet_o they_o know_v not_o their_o own_o intent_n other_o say_v they_o hope_v that_o they_o receive_v it_o as_o other_o do_v few_o make_v any_o conscience_n with_o knowledge_n fear_n and_o reverence_n to_o prepare_v themselves_o the_o
