do_v affirm_v that_o the_o scripture_n be_v prove_v to_o be_v god_n word_n from_o the_o church_n testimony_n or_o from_o tradition_n only_o where_o both_o these_o scripture_n and_o church-infallibility_a be_v deny_v neither_o can_v be_v prove_v by_o the_o other_o till_o one_o be_v either_o suppose_v as_o true_a or_o prove_v by_o some_o other_o medium_n which_o medium_n be_v receive_v to_o be_v tradition_n and_o if_o so_o than_o i_o say_v there_o can_v be_v no_o more_o certainty_n that_o the_o church_n be_v infallible_a than_o that_o certainty_n which_o lie_v in_o universal_a tradition_n 2._o and_o second_o the_o same_o may_v be_v say_v for_o scripture_n which_o be_v suppose_v to_o be_v infallible_a because_o god_n word_n yet_o if_o they_o be_v 24._o prove_v only_o by_o the_o same_o tradition_n to_o be_v god_n word_n all_o the_o certainty_n that_o i_o have_v of_o their_o infallibility_n be_v also_o from_o universal_a tradition_n for_o the_o conclusion_n can_v have_v no_o more_o evidence_n than_o the_o premise_n or_o proof_n have_v again_o suppose_v i_o be_v without_o tradition_n infallible_o certain_a that_o such_o book_n be_v god_n word_n yet_o can_v i_o not_o for_o all_o this_o quit_v the_o dependence_n upon_o tradition_n in_o some_o point_n at_o least_o of_o my_o faith_n for_o my_o faith_n be_v ground_v not_o on_o the_o bare_a word_n but_o sense_n of_o those_o book_n and_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o same_o word_n be_v divers_a especial_o since_o the_o sense_n of_o no_o one_o text_n must_v oppose_v the_o sense_n of_o any_o other_o and_o hence_o scripture_n most_o clear_a in_o their_o expression_n by_o reason_n of_o other_o scripture_n as_o seem_o clear_a that_o express_v the_o contrary_a notwithstanding_o this_o clearness_n become_v very_o ambiguous_a and_o that_o in_o some_o necessary_a point_n of_o faith_n as_o appear_v in_o those_o many_o controversy_n concern_v their_o sense_n some_o of_o which_o contest_v doubtless_o be_v in_o very_o necessary_a point_n and_o matter_n of_o faith_n to_o know_v therefore_o among_o these_o which_o be_v the_o true_a sense_n as_o suppose_v in_o the_o controversy_n about_o the_o sacred_a trinity_n grace_n and_o free_a will_n justification_n etc._n etc._n upon_o which_o first_o know_v i_o must_v ground_v my_o faith_n i_o be_o no_o way_n help_v by_o know_v that_o the_o writing_n be_v god_n word_n here_o therefore_o though_o the_o scripture_n for_o the_o word_n shall_v not_o yet_o my_o faith_n for_o their_o sense_n will_v have_v a_o dependence_n upon_o and_o repair_v unto_o without_o dispute_v whether_o it_o be_v absolute_o infallible_a because_o it_o be_v needle_n to_o the_o state_v of_o our_o business_n that_o there_o be_v in_o it_o certainty_n upon_o or_o assurance_n sufficient_a to_o ground_v a_o firm_a faith_n upon_o for_o though_o it_o be_v willing_o assent_v to_o that_o tradition_n be_v in_o its_o nature_n a_o relation_n of_o a_o thing_n give_v not_o nor_o book_n thereof_o depend_v on_o the_o certainty_n of_o tradition_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v impious_a to_o affirm_v that_o we_o have_v not_o a_o sufficient_o sure_a ground_n of_o that_o knowledge_n of_o good_a and_o evil_n upon_o which_o our_o eternal_a happi_n nes_z be_v to_o be_v acquire_v or_o misery_n sustain_v or_o that_o god_n have_v not_o leave_v a_o undoubtable_a evidence_n of_o those_o truth_n whereby_o we_o be_v to_o direct_v our_o life_n to_o that_o end_n for_o which_o he_o have_v create_v we_o but_o this_o can_v be_v assign_v no_o other_o at_o least_o to_o most_o man_n than_o tradition_n therefore_o it_o be_v the_o interest_n of_o all_o christian_n as_o well_o those_o who_o submit_v themselves_o only_o to_o the_o scripture_n as_o those_o who_o submit_v also_o to_o the_o have_v happen_v some_o contest_v 3_o let_v it_o be_v grant_v likewise_o that_o the_o universal_a church_n of_o no_o one_o age_n can_v be_v mistake_v in_o the_o deliver_n of_o any_o eminent_a and_o tradition_n more_o material_a tradition_n wherein_o her_o care_n be_v interest_v for_o who_o so_o deny_v this_o must_v either_o affirm_v that_o no_o tradition_n can_v be_v certain_a to_o we_o or_o the_o church_n which_o pretend_v not_o to_o make_v any_o new_a article_n of_o faith_n at_o all_o but_o to_o recommend_v to_o her_o child_n what_o be_v deliver_v to_o she_o be_v infallible_a or_o a_o certain_a guide_n to_o we_o in_o doctrine_n propose_v by_o she_o as_o traditionary_a in_o the_o same_o manner_n as_o tradition_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v infallible_a or_o certain_a for_o to_o say_v tradition_n be_v certain_a be_v to_o say_v we_o have_v some_o way_n to_o know_v tradition_n suppose_v that_o tradition_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v god_n word_n without_o be_v deceive_v in_o it_o and_o this_o way_n be_v the_o testimony_n of_o the_o church_n therefore_o be_v this_o also_o certain_a have_v make_v these_o concession_n concern_v the_o evidence_n of_o church-tradition_n and_o the_o sufficient_a testimony_n it_o afford_v we_o to_o certainty_n ground_v our_o faith_n on_o at_o least_o in_o all_o the_o principal_a point_n of_o our_o religion_n wherein_o such_o tradition_n both_o as_o to_o deliver_v a_o sufficient_a canon_n of_o scripture_n and_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o canon_n be_v most_o full_a and_o unquestionable_a yet_o i_o must_v mind_v you_o before_o i_o proceed_v further_o to_o avoid_v your_o mistake_n that_o i_o hold_v not_o all_o tradition_n that_o we_o meet_v with_o to_o have_v a_o equal_a certainty_n or_o creditableness_n one_o as_o another_o because_o all_o circumstance_n consider_v they_o have_v not_o a_o equal_a evidence_n but_o very_o different_a and_o therefore_o ought_v careful_o to_o be_v examine_v and_o compare_v for_o example_n error_n 2._o that_o the_o say_v of_o very_a many_o have_v this_o rational_a assurance_n and_o that_o any_o or_o most_o by_o some_o reasonable_a diligence_n may_v attain_v it_o for_o necessary_a
