blessedness_n for_o first_o how_o few_o thought_n have_v we_o of_o it_o what_o any_o delight_n in_o they_o remember_v often_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o same_o person_n 2._o that_o his_o delight_n be_v in_o the_o law_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o that_o in_o his_o law_n he_o do_v meditate_v day_n and_o night_n and_o when_o the_o psalmist_n profess_v his_o own_o delight_n in_o god_n statute_n 16._o he_o add_v i_o will_v not_o forget_v thy_o word_n shall_v we_o not_o be_v as_o unapt_a to_o forget_v heaven_n if_o our_o delight_n be_v there_o but_o do_v not_o day_n pass_v with_o we_o wherein_o we_o our_o home_n and_o eternal_a blessedness_n in_o this_o appear_v to_o be_v forget_v among_o we_o how_o often_o may_v a_o person_n converse_v with_o we_o ere_o he_o understand_v our_o relation_n to_o the_o heavenly_a country_n if_o exile_v meet_v in_o a_o foreign_a land_n what_o pleasant_a discourse_n have_v they_o of_o home_n they_o suffer_v not_o one_o another_o to_o forget_v it_o such_o be_v their_o remembrance_n of_o zion_n who_o sit_v together_o bemoan_v themselves_o by_o the_o river_n of_o babylon_n a_o make_v mention_n of_o it_o as_o the_o phrase_n be_v often_o use_v and_o methinks_v even_o as_o to_o this_o remembrance_n it_o shall_v be_v our_o common_a resolution_n too_o if_o we_o forget_v thou_o o_o jerusalem_n if_o we_o forget_v to_o make_v mention_n of_o thou_o o_o thou_o city_n of_o the_o live_a god_n let_v our_o right_a hand_n forget_v she_o cunning_n our_o tongue_n shall_v soon_o cleave_v to_o the_o roof_n of_o our_o mouth_n and_o so_o it_o will_v be_v do_v we_o prefer_v that_o heavenly_a jerusalem_n above_o our_o chief_a joy_n again_o how_o little_a do_v it_o weigh_v with_o we_o it_o serve_v not_o to_o outweigh_v the_o small_a trouble_n if_o we_o have_v not_o our_o eternal_a desire_n in_o every_o thing_n gratify_v if_o any_o thing_n fall_v out_o cross_a to_o our_o inclination_n this_o glory_n go_v for_o nothing_o with_o we_o our_o discontent_n without_o promise_n or_o valuable_a reason_n but_o to_o be_v tell_v of_o a_o recompense_n at_o the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o just_a of_o a_o day_n when_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o face_n of_o god_n and_o be_v satisfy_v with_o his_o likeness_n this_o be_v insipid_a and_o without_o favour_n to_o we_o and_o afford_v we_o but_o cold_a comfort_n the_o uncertain_a thing_n of_o time_n signify_v more_o with_o we_o than_o the_o certain_a thing_n of_o eternity_n can_v we_o think_v it_o be_v all_o this_o while_n well_o with_o we_o can_v we_o think_v this_o a_o tolerable_a evil_n or_o suffer_v with_o patience_n such_o a_o distemper_n of_o spirit_n methinks_v it_o shall_v make_v we_o ever_o weary_a of_o ourselves_o and_o solicitous_a for_o a_o effectual_a speedy_a redress_n the_o redress_n must_v be_v more_o in_o our_o own_o do_v strive_v with_o our_o soul_n and_o with_o god_n for_o they_o then_o in_o what_o any_o man_n can_v say_v most_o of_o the_o consideration_n under_o the_o forego_n rule_n be_v with_o little_a variation_n applicable_a to_o this_o present_a purpose_n i_o shall_v here_o annex_v only_o some_o few_o subordinate_a direction_n which_o may_v lead_v we_o into_o this_o bless_a state_n of_o life_n and_o give_v we_o some_o joyful_a foreta_v of_o the_o future_a blessedness_n according_a as_o our_o spirit_n shall_v comply_v with_o they_o but_o expect_v not_o to_o be_v cure_v by_o prescription_n without_o use_v they_o or_o that_o heavenly_a joy_n can_v be_v the_o creature_n of_o mortal_a unregarded_a breath_n we_o can_v only_o prescribe_v mean_n and_o method_n through_o which_o god_n may_v be_v please_v to_o descend_v and_o in_o which_o thou_o be_v diligent_o to_o insist_v and_o wait_v and_o because_o i_o can_v well_o suppose_v the_o ignorant_a where_o much_o be_v say_v to_o this_o purpose_n i_o shall_v therefore_o say_v little_a 1._o possess_v thy_o soul_n with_o the_o apprehension_n that_o thou_o be_v not_o at_o liberty_n in_o this_o matter_n advantage_n to_o domineer_v and_o keep_v thy_o soul_n in_o a_o depress_v servitude_n abridge_v it_o then_o and_o cut_v it_o short_a that_o thy_o mind_n may_v be_v enlarge_v and_o at_o liberty_n may_v not_o be_v throng_v and_o prepossess_v with_o carnal_a imagination_n and_o affection_n let_v thy_o soul_n if_o thou_o will_v take_v this_o instruction_n from_o a_o heathen_a look_v with_o a_o blessedness_n gain_v not_o a_o thought_n 6._o plead_v earnest_o with_o god_n for_o his_o spirit_n this_o be_v joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o whereof_o he_o be_v the_o author_n many_o christian_n as_o they_o must_v be_v call_v be_v such_o stranger_n to_o this_o work_n of_o implore_v and_o call_v in_o the_o bless_a spirit_n as_o if_o they_o be_v capable_a of_o adopt_v these_o word_n we_o have_v work_n of_o this_o bless_a spirit_n the_o thing_n that_o eye_n have_v not_o see_v nor_o ear_n hear_v and_o which_o have_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v reveal_v by_o this_o spirit_n therefore_o do_v the_o apostle_n direct_v his_o prayer_n on_o the_o behalf_n of_o the_o ephesian_n to_o the_o father_n of_o this_o glory_n that_o he_o will_v give_v they_o this_o spirit_n
