god_n glory_n or_o the_o creature_n good_a or_o both_o as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o tithe_n or_o the_o ten_o of_o every_o man_n estate_n to_o be_v devote_v to_o pious_a uses_n for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o of_o those_o that_o be_v by_o he_o call_v thereto_o and_o employ_v therein_o though_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n can_v not_o primary_o and_o from_o itself_o have_v discover_v and_o devote_v this_o very_a precise_a proportion_n to_o the_o immediate_a service_n of_o god_n as_o absolute_o necessary_a yet_o when_o god_n do_v once_o require_v it_o it_o must_v needs_o close_o with_o it_o as_o very_o reasonable_a and_o just_a that_o god_n who_o give_v all_o and_o who_o all_o be_v shall_v have_v the_o ten_o part_n devote_v and_o separate_v to_o his_o own_o service_n so_o that_o the_o goodness_n of_o this_o do_v not_o only_o arise_v from_o the_o will_n of_o the_o legislator_n but_o also_o from_o the_o nature_n of_o what_o be_v require_v when_o it_o be_v once_o discern_v to_o be_v the_o legislator_n pleasure_n so_o that_o it_o be_v neither_o pure_o positive_a nor_o yet_o primary_o moral_a discover_v only_o by_o the_o promulgation_n of_o the_o legislator_n and_o then_o embrace_v at_o and_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v most_o just_a and_o good_a by_o the_o creature_n from_o who_o it_o be_v require_v whereas_o what_o be_v pure_o positive_a have_v nothing_o just_a or_o good_a in_o itself_o nor_o discernible_a after_o its_o imposition_n 3._o in_o the_o four_o command_n we_o must_v distinguish_v between_o 1._o the_o duty_n command_v 2._o the_o explication_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o 3._o the_o argument_n and_o motive_n thereto_o and_o so_o without_o any_o more_o nice_a distinction_n we_o proceed_v by_o god_n assistance_n to_o our_o apprehension_n about_o this_o matter_n 1._o the_o duty_n command_v or_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o four_o command_n which_o be_v in_o the_o first_o word_n of_o that_o command_n remember_v the_o sabbath-day_n or_o the_o day_n of_o the_o sabbath_n to_o keep_v it_o holy_a or_o to_o sanctify_v it_o where_o we_o acknowledge_v the_o rest_n or_o the_o holy_a rest_n to_o be_v primary_o and_o absolute_o moral_a which_o this_o right_a judgement_n of_o the_o rational_a creature_n dictate_v direct_v to_o as_o that_o which_o it_o owe_v to_o its_o creator_n preserver_n and_o benefactor_n even_o a_o set_n and_o solemn_a time_n separate_v and_o devote_v to_o the_o immediate_a service_n praise_n and_o adoration_n of_o god_n who_o because_o of_o his_o own_o infinite_a and_o incomparable_a excellency_n deserve_v all_o their_o praise_n and_o adoration_n and_o because_o of_o their_o own_o innumerable_a and_o inestimable_a benefit_n receive_v from_o he_o merit_v all_o their_o love_n and_o observance_n which_o employment_n the_o rational_a creature_n will_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v the_o most_o noble_a and_o excellent_a the_o most_o happy_a and_o bless_a that_o it_o can_v be_v employ_v in_o be_v the_o employ_v of_o the_o most_o noble_a faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o their_o most_o excellent_a act_n about_o the_o most_o raise_v and_o glorious_a object_n this_o i_o say_v the_o true_a light_n of_o nature_n will_v direct_v unto_o and_o so_o be_v pure_o moral_a but_o whether_o it_o will_v have_v direct_v to_o a_o separation_n of_o a_o whole_a entire_a day_n thereto_o i_o can_v resolve_v though_o this_o also_o may_v be_v most_o probable_a be_v a_o time_n so_o limit_v measure_a and_o distinguish_v by_o the_o antecedent_n and_o subsequent_a darkness_n or_o by_o the_o presence_n light_n and_o motion_n of_o the_o sun_n in_o the_o hemisphere_n but_o here_o i_o believe_v we_o may_v take_v for_o grant_v that_o the_o rational_a creature_n in_o its_o rectitude_n will_v have_v actual_o consecrate_v to_o so_o divine_a worship_n and_o employ_v in_o divine_a worship_n all_o that_o time_n that_o can_v have_v be_v due_o and_o convenient_o spare_v from_o the_o refreshment_n of_o the_o body_n and_o those_o due_a preparation_n which_o must_v be_v make_v for_o his_o decay_a outward_a man_n so_o that_o adam_n will_v have_v subserviate_v have_v he_o stand_v in_o his_o innocence_n all_o his_o till_v of_o the_o garden_n all_o his_o eat_n drink_v and_o sleep_v all_o the_o recruit_n of_o his_o body_n to_o the_o solemn_a manner_n as_o that_o which_o be_v the_o hasshabbath_n i_o will_v inquire_v of_o he_o whether_o this_o render_n of_o these_o word_n be_v not_o as_o proper_a as_o any_o he_o can_v render_v it_o by_o whether_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n be_v not_o so_o proper_a as_o the_o day_n of_o a_o rest_n or_o the_o day_n of_o that_o rest_n for_o every_o one_o that_o have_v but_o peep_v into_o the_o hebrew_n bible_n very_o well_o know_v that_o that_o letter_n ה_n serve_v many_o time_n if_o not_o most_v time_n only_o for_o a_o letter_n and_o ornament_n of_o writing_n without_o any_o signification_n whatever_o and_o whether_o i_o render_v it_o by_o though_o he_o choose_v to_o translate_v it_o that_o for_o neither_o a_o nor_o the_o nor_o that_o be_v find_v in_o the_o original_a but_o be_v only_o english_a particle_n and_o i_o will_v fain_o know_v what_o emphasis_n the_o same_o hebrew_n particle_n have_v before_o shamajim_n aretz_n and_o i_o be_o heaven_n earth_n and_o sea_n and_o whether_o the_o translation_n either_o without_o a_o particle_n or_o with_o that_o which_o carry_v no_o emphasis_n be_v not_o far_o better_a than_o the_o translation_n with_o a_o emphatical_a one_o as_o for_o example_n the_o lord_n make_v heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o sea_n or_o the_o lord_n make_v the_o heaven_n the_o earth_n and_o the_o sea_n be_v not_o better_a than_o the_o lord_n make_v that_o heaven_n that_o earth_n and_o that_o sea_n for_o if_o we_o take_v this_o particle_n that_o emphatical_o it_o seem_v to_o signify_v that_o there_o be_v more_o heaven_n for_o we_o suppose_v the_o visible_a heaven_n or_o inferior_a one_o be_v here_o mean_v and_o earth_n and_o sea_n than_o one_o and_o that_o it_o be_v emphatical_o and_o eminent_o mean_v of_o those_o in_o the_o in_o command_n beyond_o the_o other_o whereas_o there_o be_v no_o other_o heaven_n earth_n or_o sea_n but_o what_o be_v mean_v in_o the_o command_n and_o therefore_o will_v be_v very_o impertinent_o render_v by_o a_o emphatical_a that_o from_o whence_o i_o will_v ask_v this_o gentleman_n what_o reason_n there_o be_v why_o ה_n before_o sabbath_n and_o shebigni_n shall_v be_v more_o emphatical_a than_o before_o those_o other_o word_n in_o the_o same_o command_n sure_o that_o opinion_n want_v solid_a and_o deep_a foundation_n that_o must_v be_v uphold_v by_o such_o superficial_a and_o weak_a one_o thus_o much_o
the_o observance_n of_o it_o from_o either_o jew_n or_o gentile_n to_o who_o they_o write_v and_o consequent_o we_o may_v conclude_v that_o they_o never_o preach_v it_o for_o we_o true_o hold_v that_o the_o sum_n and_o substance_n of_o all_o their_o sermon_n be_v in_o their_o book_n yea_o their_o write_n have_v several_a weighty_a passage_n against_o the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n now_o our_o christ_n never_o teach_v they_o that_o doctrine_n nor_o enjoin_v they_o to_o do_v it_o and_o therefore_o this_o can_v be_v one_o of_o those_o jot_n or_o tittle_n of_o the_o law_n which_o in_o this_o author_n sense_n be_v not_o to_o pass_v from_o the_o law_n but_o only_o what_o be_v moral_a in_o it_o we_o acknowledge_v that_o the_o lord_n christ_n also_o confirm_v the_o moral_a law_n by_o command_v the_o lawyer_n to_o love_v the_o lord_n god_n etc._n etc._n but_o withal_o that_o whoever_o give_v to_o god_n the_o seven_o part_n of_o his_o time_n though_o it_o be_v not_o the_o seven_o day_n of_o the_o week_n do_v therein_o love_n god_n as_o to_o the_o declaration_n as_o to_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o his_o love_n as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o do_v the_o seven_o day_n because_o it_o be_v as_o full_o the_o substance_n of_o that_o command_n the_o same_o answer_n will_v serve_v to_o mark_v 12.28_o 31._o page_n 30._o with_o this_o addition_n that_o the_o change_n of_o the_o as_o in_o number_n not_o so_o much_o the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n as_o one_o day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o be_v observe_v and_o sanctify_v by_o we_o as_o i_o suppose_v we_o may_v have_v a_o opportunity_n to_o prove_v page_n 31._o he_o show_v from_o scripture_n that_o one_o great_a article_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n be_v god_n write_v his_o law_n upon_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n which_o he_o with_o we_o express_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v the_o moral_a law_n how_o then_o can_v the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n as_o such_o be_v part_n of_o that_o law_n which_o be_v not_o fit_a to_o be_v lie_v aside_o by_o they_o to_o who_o god_n have_v give_v a_o good_a and_o competent_a gift_n but_o yet_o much_o rather_o to_o be_v u._fw-mi sed_fw-la and_o that_o comfortable_o and_o profitable_o too_o where_o such_o a_o gift_n may_v be_v deny_v and_o i_o think_v by_o this_o rule_n that_o everly_o man_n that_o join_v with_o another_o in_o prayer_n be_v guilty_a of_o idolatry_n against_o the_o second_o command_n for_o he_o make_v the_o word_n of_o the_o minister_n or_o private_a christian_a to_o be_v the_o set_a form_n of_o his_o prayer_n and_o why_o a_o prayer_n write_v as_o a_o form_n shall_v be_v more_o a_o idol_n than_o a_o prayer_n speak_v as_o a_o form_n i_o do_v not_o yet_o understand_v in_o the_o same_o paragraph_n he_o also_o hint_n that_o the_o lord_n prayer_n ought_v only_o to_o be_v use_v in_o secret_a and_o alone_a not_o in_o public_a no_o nor_o in_o private_a with_o any_o other_o because_o of_o those_o expression_n in_o matt._n 6.6_o 9_o when_o thou_o pray_v enter_v into_o thy_o closet_n and_o shut_v thy_o door_n and_o pray_v etc._n etc._n whereas_o the_o form_n of_o that_o prayer_n in_o the_o plural_a number_n the_o very_a matter_n of_o that_o prayer_n be_v the_o universal_a concern_v of_o the_o universal_a church_n and_o of_o every_o congregation_n and_o society_n of_o christian_n as_o well_o as_o of_o every_o private_a christian_a and_o our_o saviour_n command_v his_o disciple_n to_o use_v it_o without_o any_o such_o limitation_n of_o a_o secret_a personal_a retirement_n luke_n 11.2_o be_v sufficient_a proof_n that_o it_o may_v be_v as_o well_o use_v social_o as_o solitary_o with_o other_o as_o lawful_o and_o convenient_o as_o by_o one_o self_n in_o the_o follow_a paragraph_n he_o seem_v to_o be_v of_o the_o opinion_n that_o it_o will_v be_v better_a to_o have_v man_n or_o minister_n own_o invention_n in_o sing_v of_o psalm_n than_o the_o divine_a inspiration_n of_o david_n and_o other_o author_n in_o scripture_n and_o when_o i_o can_v believe_v that_o they_o can_v be_v better_o than_o those_o in_o scripture_n or_o can_v be_v convince_v that_o there_o be_v neither_o psalm_n nor_o hymn_n in_o the_o bible_n that_o can_v fit_v a_o present_a condition_n either_o for_o prayer_n or_o praise_n or_o gratitude_n etc._n etc._n i_o will_v think_v so_o but_o as_o to_o the_o former_a of_o these_o two_o i_o hope_v i_o shall_v never_o believe_v and_o as_o to_o the_o latter_a i_o think_v it_o be_v not_o likely_a to_o fall_v out_o in_o my_o day_n these_o thing_n ought_v as_o curious_o to_o be_v reply_v as_o the_o author_n have_v start_v these_o notion_n and_o when_o he_o see_v fit_a to_o endeavour_v a_o more_o large_a explication_n and_o vindication_n of_o they_o than_o we_o may_v also_o see_v what_o may_v be_v discourse_v agianst_a they_o and_o i_o hearty_o wish_v he_o have_v but_o hint_v this_o of_o his_o seven_o day_n and_o so_o save_v all_o this_o labour_n in_o answer_v of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v just_a another_o such_o opinion_n as_o the_o former_a and_o deserve_v only_o to_o be_v mention_v indeed_o not_o to_o be_v mention_v at_o all_o at_o least_o not_o in_o print_n not_o in_o public_a but_o of_o this_o in_o the_o preface_n sect_n vi_o in_o the_o next_o paragraph_n he_o tell_v we_o he_o have_v much_o to_o do_v to_o recover_v the_o word_n seven_o of_o the_o four_o commandment_n whereas_o that_o he_o can_v assign_v no_o other_o reason_n for_o it_o but_o the_o marvellous_a corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n which_o incline_v we_o to_o be_v god_n etc._n etc._n when_o yet_o he_o know_v that_o they_o that_o be_v for_o the_o change_n of_o the_o seven_o into_o the_o first-day-sabbath_n have_v give_v he_o many_o reason_n and_o good_a scriptural_a ground_n and_o argument_n which_o do_v amount_v in_o their_o esteem_n to_o a_o divine_a authority_n for_o that_o change_n though_o they_o do_v not_o produce_v a_o express_a command_n for_o it_o as_o that_o which_o he_o seem_v to_o improve_v when_o i_o assert_v that_o neither_o he_o nor_o all_o the_o world_n can_v ever_o prove_v the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n to_o be_v part_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n quatenus_fw-la moral_n his_o four_o answer_v plain_o confound_v sabbath_n with_o year_n and_o new-moon_n which_o the_o apostle_n clear_o distinguish_v and_o of_o all_o the_o rest_n i_o may_v true_o say_v they_o be_v but_o mere_a day_n in_o its_o place_n yet_o this_o do_v no_o more_o confirm_v the_o seven_o day_n to_o be_v the_o future_a sabbath_n than_o those_o other_o scriptural_a say_n do_v the_o ceremonial_a rite_n to_o be_v the_o evangelical_n worship_n or_o the_o external_a modes_n of_o serve_v god_n in_o the_o time_n of_o reformation_n and_o when_o the_o body_n and_o substance_n of_o these_o sign_n and_o figure_n that_o apprehension_n so_o we_o find_v our_o saviour_n speak_v in_o his_o discourse_n of_o the_o jew_n circumcision_n very_o commendable_o and_o honourable_o yet_o i_o hope_v this_o do_v not_o confirm_v it_o for_o the_o future_a but_o here_o it_o may_v be_v object_v but_o he_o do_v not_o prophesy_v of_o its_o future_a observance_n or_o require_v any_o thing_n of_o they_o upon_o a_o supposition_n of_o its_o continuance_n afterward_o and_o therefore_o this_o be_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n but_o we_o know_v he_o can_v not_o but_o foresee_v that_o they_o will_v observe_v it_o and_o keep_v it_o up_o in_o the_o church_n after_o his_o departure_n from_o they_o and_o its_o abrogation_n and_o so_o these_o speech_n of_o his_o will_v then_o be_v upon_o record_n and_o probable_o what_o sort_n or_o kind_n soever_o for_o they_o all_o apertain_v to_o manner_n yea_o to_o thought_n word_n and_o action_n yea_o and_o be_v include_v in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n because_o whoever_o love_v god_n true_o will_n and_o must_v yield_v obedience_n to_o all_o his_o law_n of_o what_o sort_n soever_o whether_o moral_a or_o positive_a but_o such_o a_o lax_n interpretation_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n serve_v to_o the_o design_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n because_o it_o include_v it_o will_v all_o other_o positive_a law_n but_o have_v he_o give_v we_o a_o true_a notion_n of_o what_o be_v moral_a in_o its_o self_n or_o in_o its_o own_o nature_n it_o will_v necessary_o have_v be_v exclue_v as_o may_v be_v evince_v by_o some_o property_n of_o what_o be_v true_o moral_a 1._o the_o moral_a law_n be_v inward_a and_o be_v consecrate_v with_o the_o rational_a creature_n and_o do_v need_v no_o external_a revelation_n or_o divine_a institution_n especial_o in_o the_o state_n of_o human_a integrity_n before_o the_o fall_n but_o such_o be_v not_o the_o seven_o day_n for_o it_o be_v institute_v by_o god_n after_o man_n creation_n 2._o the_o moral_a law_n yet_o remain_v in_o some_o footstep_n and_o degree_n thereof_o in_o the_o human_a nature_n and_o so_o in_o the_o generality_n of_o mankind_n the_o heathen_n themselves_o not_o except_v as_o might_n be_v easy_o prove_v by_o their_o law_n and_o write_n but_o the_o notion_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v universal_o exclude_v and_o the_o generality_n of_o mankind_n total_o destitute_a thereof_o if_o it_o be_v here_o object_v that_o the_o heathen_a do_v separate_v a_o seventh-day_n to_o their_o religious_a service_n to_o this_o may_v be_v apply_v that_o it_o be_v but_o some_o of_o they_o and_o but_o for_o some_o time_n not_o universal_o and_o perpetual_o that_o they_o do_v it_o by_o tradition_n from_o the_o jew_n or_o by_o satan_n institution_n and_o injunction_n who_o in_o his_o curse_a pride_n affect_v to_o have_v his_o votary_n serve_v he_o as_o the_o acknowledger_n of_o jehovah_n do_v he_o 3._o all_o moral_a law_n be_v clear_o and_o distinct_o engrave_v upon_o the_o mind_n and_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o be_v enlighten_v and_o sanctify_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o not_o a_o tittle_n or_o punctum_fw-la of_o his_o seventh-day_n be_v see_v in_o the_o generality_n of_o they_o 4._o man_n be_v not_o make_v for_o the_o sabbath_n and_o for_o its_o observance_n but_o the_o sabbath_n be_v make_v for_o man_n and_o for_o his_o good_a mark_v 2.27_o 5._o moral_a duty_n be_v such_o as_o a_o man_n can_v change_v they_o or_o neglect_v they_o or_o do_v any_o thing_n beside_o they_o without_o dishonour_v and_o sin_v against_o god_n but_o now_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o as_o to_o the_o appropriate_v and_o employ_v another_o day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o and_o in_o his_o workship_n and_o service_n as_o the_o seven_o provide_v he_o do_v dedicate_v another_o day_n in_o seven_o to_o that_o service_n the_o worship_n be_v the_o same_o and_o the_o proportion_n of_o time_n the_o same_o and_o so_o god_n as_o much_o and_o as_o long_o serve_v as_o upon_o the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n let_v he_o denominate_v any_o other_o propriety_n of_o what_o be_v moral_a and_o i_o will_v undertake_v to_o evince_v that_o it_o belong_v not_o to_o his_o seventh-day-sabbath_n to_o what_o purpose_n then_o to_o urge_v and_o insist_v so_o much_o and_o so_o long_o upon_o the_o moral_a law_n when_o the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n be_v no_o part_n at_o all_o of_o the_o morality_n thereof_o those_o passage_n before_o mention_v that_o christ_n come_v not_o to_o destroy_v but_o to_o fulfil_v the_o law_n that_o the_o breaker_n of_o the_o least_o of_o god_n command_n shall_v be_v least_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n and_o these_o page_n 35._o he_o that_o will_v enter_v into_o life_n must_v keep_v the_o commandment_n it_o be_v easy_a for_o heaven_n and_o earth_n to_o perfect_o fulfil_v it_o though_o he_o abrogate_a its_o future_a legal_a authority_n and_o so_o not_o one_o tittle_n of_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n do_v fail_v for_o all_o have_v its_o accomplishment_n on_o christ_n no_o more_o than_o a_o tittle_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n
can_v so_o that_o we_o have_v grant_v he_o his_o desire_n in_o show_v he_o what_o law_n christ_n mean_v in_o such_o passage_n even_o the_o ceremonial_a as_o well_o as_o the_o moral_a for_o they_o be_v the_o object_n of_o the_o superstitious_a jew_n great_a zeal_n and_o they_o persecute_v he_o and_o his_o disciple_n as_o the_o overthrower_n of_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n and_o therefore_o christ_n bring_v if_o he_o can_v rational_o demonstrate_v that_o the_o bless_a redeemer_n do_v rest_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n from_o all_o his_o humiliation_n and_o suffering_n he_o will_v then_o defeat_v the_o great_a ground_n on_o which_o all_o the_o church_n since_o our_o lord_n come_v and_o consummate_v the_o work_n of_o redemption_n have_v build_v upon_o for_o the_o change_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n into_o the_o first-day-sabbath_n for_o they_o say_v they_o do_v it_o because_o on_o the_o first_o day_n our_o lord_n jesus_n god-man_n rest_v from_o that_o more_o wonderful_a glorious_a gracious_a profitable_a and_o ravish_a work_n than_o that_o of_o the_o creation_n and_o more_o laborious_a and_o difficult_a work_n to_o himself_o be_v real_o and_o dreadful_o so_o to_o his_o humane_a nature_n but_o indeed_o this_o notion_n be_v a_o very_a strange_a and_o a_o uncouth_a one_o because_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o mediator_n in_o this_o sense_n can_v be_v think_v to_o be_v any_o other_o than_o a_o happy_a and_o complacential_a reflection_n upon_o the_o work_n of_o our_o redemption_n merit_v by_o all_o his_o active_a and_o passive_a obedience_n which_o can_v not_o be_v until_o he_o have_v wade_v through_o
in_o this_o conjecture_n and_o according_a to_o his_o conjecture_n and_o the_o usual_a phrase_n of_o scripture_n our_o saviour_n will_v have_v continue_v forty_o two_o day_n upon_o earth_n for_o the_o scripture_n in_o the_o number_n of_o day_n do_v usual_o include_v both_o the_o first_o and_o last_o day_n as_o in_o call_v the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n the_o seven_o it_o take_v into_o the_o number_n both_o it_o and_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o there_o be_v but_o seven_o in_o all_o and_o so_o when_o it_o say_v that_o our_o saviour_n rise_v the_o three_o day_n from_o the_o dead_a it_o include_v the_o first_o and_o last_o day_n of_o the_o three_o and_o therefore_o have_v the_o scriptural_a usual_a phrase_n on_o our_o side_n and_o the_o tradition_n of_o the_o church_n we_o have_v very_o good_a ground_n to_o conclude_v that_o he_o ascend_v upon_o thursday_n and_o he_o have_v no_o ground_n but_o his_o own_o conjecture_n for_o his_o opinion_n of_o his_o ascension_n upon_o saturday_n but_o every_o little_a surmise_n be_v make_v use_n of_o to_o exalt_v the_o seven_o above_o all_o the_o day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o especial_o above_o the_o lord_n day_n in_o this_o controversy_n as_o to_o that_o fancy_n of_o our_o saviour_n come_v to_o judgement_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n i_o leave_v it_o as_o a_o pure_a fancy_n here_o also_o he_o take_v it_o for_o grant_v that_o our_o saviour_n after_o his_o resurrection_n appear_v to_o his_o disciple_n upon_o the_o seven_o day_n or_o at_o least_o he_o suppose_v it_o may_v well_o be_v grant_v because_o they_o be_v then_o assemble_v etc._n etc._n but_o he_o know_v they_o meet_v together_o on_o other_o day_n and_o particular_o upon_o the_o first_o day_n on_o which_o our_o lord_n appear_v unto_o they_o and_o that_o assembly_n in_o the_o first_o of_o the_o act_n if_o it_o be_v on_o the_o ascension_n day_n be_v according_a to_o scripture_n number_v of_o day_n upon_o our_o thursday_n but_o see_v he_o will_v make_v use_n of_o if_o we_o will_v grant_v our_o lord_n appear_v to_o his_o disciple_n once_o on_o the_o seven_o day_n what_o a_o advantage_n may_v we_o just_o take_v for_o the_o first_o day_n from_o our_o saviour_n appear_v so_o often_o unto_o they_o on_o the_o same_o so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o day_n of_o the_o week_n name_v whereon_o our_o saviour_n manifest_v himself_o unto_o they_o after_o the_o resurrection_n but_o this_o first_o day_n it_o be_v not_o say_v that_o he_o appear_v unto_o they_o on_o the_o second_o or_o three_o nor_o at_o all_o on_o the_o seven_o and_o it_o be_v very_o probable_a that_o all_o the_o appearance_n of_o our_o saviour_n which_o be_v not_o a_o few_o be_v on_o the_o first_o day_n except_o only_o that_o on_o his_o ascension_n day_n it_o be_v worth_a our_o serious_a observance_n that_o as_o our_o saviour_n will_v not_o grace_v the_o seven_o day_n with_o one_o particular_a express_a word_n of_o his_o mouth_n about_o it_o during_o his_o life-time_n so_o he_o will_v not_o honour_v it_o with_o one_o appearance_n of_o his_o human_a nature_n to_o his_o disciple_n throughout_o all_o the_o forty_o day_n after_o his_o resurrection_n which_o to_o i_o seem_v plain_o to_o signify_v that_o he_o will_v have_v a_o perpetual_a silence_n thereof_o in_o his_o future_a church_n and_o that_o he_o have_v bury_v it_o in_o his_o grave_n and_o will_v have_v it_o lie_v dormant_a there_o for_o ever_o sect_n xi_o have_v do_v with_o this_o conjecture_n we_o proceed_v to_o the_o author_n question_n in_o the_o same_o page_n whether_o the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n be_v observe_v after_o the_o resurrection_n and_o ascension_n of_o christ_n whereof_o he_o think_v he_o demonstrate_v the_o affirmative_a but_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o it_o it_o be_v the_o usual_a day_n of_o the_o disciple_n religious_a association_n and_o our_o saviour_n personal_a presence_n with_o they_o and_o his_o gracious_a discourse_n to_o they_o such_o a_o once_o indeed_o now_o as_o no_o meeting_n can_v be_v but_o once_o at_o a_o time_n as_o with_o the_o former_a make_v more_o than_o once_o and_o such_o a_o once_o as_o with_o what_o have_v be_v say_v and_o have_v be_v now_o the_o consecrate_a day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o so_o have_v have_v more_o time_n and_o leisure_n with_o they_o for_o his_o work_n and_o not_o have_v so_o straighten_a himself_o or_o incommode_v they_o throughout_o a_o whole_a night_n but_o becaust_n the_o lord_n day_n be_v the_o sacred_a day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o be_v observe_v and_o keep_v therefore_o he_o will_v defer_v it_o till_o then_o though_o to_o his_o own_o and_o their_o great_a inconvenience_n here_o we_o have_v a_o conjecture_n somewhat_o strange_a viz._n that_o the_o apostle_n keep_v the_o seven_o day_n at_o troas_n what_o be_v it_o alone_o by_o himself_o and_o without_o any_o other_o with_o he_o as_o a_o private_a person_n and_o not_o as_o a_o apostle_n and_o then_o will_v keep_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n as_o a_o apostle_n and_o with_o the_o assembly_n of_o believer_n doubtless_o st._n paul_n be_v no_o such_o dissembler_n on_o one_o hand_n nor_o superstitious_a bigot_n on_o the_o other_o to_o observe_v two_o sabbath_n in_o the_o week_n one_o by_o himself_o and_o another_o with_o the_o church_n when_o god_n command_v but_o one_o only_a but_o he_o seem_v to_o do_v all_o he_o can_v to_o turn_v the_o first_o day_n into_o the_o seven_o and_o to_o persuade_v we_o that_o the_o assembly_n of_o the_o disciple_n be_v begin_v on_o the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o continue_v some_o time_n of_o the_o first_o whereas_o the_o text_n express_o tell_v we_o they_o come_v together_o on_o the_o first_o day_n and_o so_o continue_v together_o the_o first_o day_n till_o its_o conclusion_n in_o the_o second_o day_n morning_n here_o he_o take_v no_o notice_n at_o all_o or_o to_o no_o purpose_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n tell_v we_o express_o that_o paul_n abide_v seven_o day_n at_o troas_n of_o which_o one_o must_v necessary_o be_v the_o last_o day_n the_o seven_o day_n in_o order_n of_o the_o week_n and_o yet_o never_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o disciple_n meet_v on_o that_o day_n or_o paul_n with_o they_o but_o only_o on_o the_o first_o day_n and_o why_o shall_v this_o be_v if_o for_o any_o reason_n but_o to_o show_v we_o that_o the_o lord_n day_n be_v the_o day_n of_o their_o religious_a convention_n and_o the_o seven_o day_n antiquate_v and_o no_o more_o to_o be_v mention_v and_o observe_v among_o christian_n as_o such_o a_o day_n what_o follow_v have_v be_v if_o i_o mistake_v not_o satisfactory_o answer_v already_o it_o be_v well_o he_o recede_v from_o and_o stand_v not_o much_o upon_o the_o greek_a word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d to_o be_v interpete_v one_o for_o he_o know_v that_o in_o both_o the_o sacred_a language_n the_o numerical_a word_n be_v frequent_o use_v for_o the_o ordinal_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v render_v this_o word_n here_o one_o we_o be_v sure_o can_v not_o but_o be_v and_o it_o will_v be_v uncertain_a and_o dubious_a for_o according_a to_o this_o meaning_n we_o can_v never_o know_v what_o day_n of_o the_o week_n this_o religious_a congregation_n meet_v whether_o on_o the_o first_o or_o second_o or_o three_o or_o four_o etc._n etc._n and_o the_o expression_n seem_v to_o hint_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v acquaint_v we_o with_o the_o particular_a day_n thereof_o but_o such_o a_o uncertain_a translation_n will_v great_o befriend_v this_o author_n for_o than_o he_o may_v more_o confident_o suppose_v it_o to_o be_v the_o seven_o day_n see_v that_o now_o when_o the_o spirit_n clear_o assert_v it_o be_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n he_o do_v persuade_v himself_o and_o will_v persuade_v we_o that_o it_o some_o think_v be_v mean_v of_o the_o yearly_a feast_n of_o atonement_n and_o expiation_n or_o it_o may_v be_v understand_v of_o the_o year_n of_o jubilee_n if_o not_o the_o great_a jubilee_n every_o fifty_o year_n yet_o the_o less_o of_o every_o seven_o year_n which_o st._n paul_n probable_o observe_v they_o very_o superstitious_a in_o but_o whatever_o the_o difference_n may_v be_v in_o the_o particular_a application_n of_o these_o term_n yet_o they_o general_o hold_v the_o more_o rare_a or_o seldom_o jewish_a festival_n to_o be_v mean_v and_o by_o day_n then_o what_o other_o festival_n of_o the_o jew_n can_v be_v understand_v but_o the_o seven_o day_n if_o he_o do_v not_o mean_v their_o weekly_a sabbath_n by_o day_n it_o can_v well_o be_v conceive_v what_o it_o shall_v be_v we_o doubt_v not_o but_o by_o the_o latter_a three_o expression_n month_n time_n and_o year_n be_v mean_v jewish_a festival_n and_o why_o day_n shall_v not_o signify_v the_o same_o can_v well_o be_v imagine_v beside_o we_o find_v that_o these_o galatian_n be_v great_o infect_v with_o the_o false_a leven_n of_o judaical_a doctor_n who_o teach_v they_o to_o observe_v circumcision_n etc._n etc._n as_o be_v see_v clear_o by_o the_o epistle_n and_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o chief_a occasion_n of_o write_v it_o to_o turn_v they_o from_o and_o sortify_v they_o against_o such_o false_a doctrine_n and_o dangerous_a observance_n and_o therefore_o hence_o we_o conclude_v st._n paul_n condemn_v the_o galatian_a church_n for_o keep_v the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n as_o well_o as_o other_o judaical_a rite_n and_o festival_n and_o tell_v they_o he_o be_v afraid_a he_o have_v bestow_v his_o labour_n in_o vain_a upon_o they_o in_o that_o text_n to_o the_o colossian_n we_o have_v the_o observance_n of_o sabbath_n express_o spken_n of_o and_o thereby_o st._n paul_n discard_v from_o their_o observance_n as_o shadow_n which_o be_v to_o vanish_v when_o christ_n the_o body_n be_v come_v by_o which_o we_o contend_v be_v mean_v the_o weekly-sabbath_n because_o that_o in_o the_o scripture_n be_v chief_o most_o if_o not_o solitary_o the_o acceptation_n thereof_o and_o we_o have_v hear_v he_o again_o and_o again_o assert_v that_o it_o be_v the_o intent_n of_o this_o word_n every_o where_n and_o i_o believe_v so_o whenever_o it_o stand_v absolute_o as_o here_o without_o some_o annexion_n or_o other_o to_o alter_v its_o signification_n and_o what_o reason_n can_v be_v give_v why_o here_o it_o shall_v not_o so_o be_v understand_v that_o only_o here_o and_o no_o place_n else_o in_o the_o bible_n it_o shall_v not_o be_v take_v for_o the_o weekly-seventh-day_n moreover_o here_o the_o apostle_n seem_v plain_o to_o intend_v
for_o the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o command_n the_o substance_n and_o unquestionable_o moral_a part_n thereof_o 2._o we_o have_v the_o explication_n of_o that_o part_n of_o the_o command_n in_o its_o follow_a word_n six_o day_n shall_v thou_o labour_v and_o do_v all_o thy_o work_n and_o the_o day_n the_o seven_o a_o sabbath_n to_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v or_o both_o a_o sabbath_n to_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v dedict_v to_o the_o worship_n and_o service_n of_o he_o thou_o shall_v do_v no_o work_n thou_o nor_o thy_o son_n nor_o thy_o daughter_n etc._n etc._n where_o we_o have_v one_o day_n in_o seven_o or_o of_o seven_o declare_v and_o signify_v to_o be_v that_o day_n of_o rest_n or_o holy_a sabbath_n which_o be_v commnd_v in_o the_o beginning_n and_o here_o our_o author_n contend_v and_o worthy_o that_o this_o seven_o day_n in_o this_o peace_n be_v not_o a_o ordinal_n seven_o day_n that_o be_v the_o next_o day_n after_o the_o former_a six_o day_n but_o rather_o a_o proportional_a if_o i_o may_v so_o express_v it_o day_n or_o a_o distribute_v part_n of_o the_o seven_o that_o be_v that_o of_o seven_o day_n god_n will_v have_v one_o entire_a day_n to_o be_v sanctify_v to_o he_o and_o his_o service_n without_o specify_v what_o day_n of_o the_o seven_o it_o shall_v be_v and_o i_o be_o sure_a he_o have_v no_o reason_n nor_o ground_n from_o the_o command_n hitherto_o to_o except_v against_o this_o understanding_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n in_o this_o explication_n of_o the_o command_n we_o have_v two_o thing_n 1._o the_o portion_n of_o time_n or_o the_o part_n of_o the_o day_n that_o god_n will_v have_v sanctify_v to_o a_o holy_a rest_n the_o seven_o 2._o how_o he_o will_v have_v the_o rest_v observe_v by_o a_o abstinence_n of_o all_o sort_n of_o person_n from_o earthly_a and_o worldly_a employment_n except_o such_o as_o do_v not_o interfere_v with_o its_o due_a sanctification_n that_o they_o may_v be_v whole_o in_o body_n and_o soul_n busy_v in_o his_o service_n as_o be_v clear_o enjoin_v in_o that_o word_n in_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o command_n to_o sanctify_v it_o as_o to_o this_o seven_o part_n of_o time_n so_o sanctify_v and_o separate_v to_o divine_a service_n this_o be_v not_o primary_o and_o pure_o moral_a though_o we_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v secondary_o and_o positive_o so_o not_o such_o a_o measure_n of_o time_n as_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n in_o innocency_n will_v have_v precise_o separate_v to_o divine_a worship_n and_o not_o one_o day_n more_o nor_o one_o day_n less_o of_o all_o the_o weekday_n i_o think_v i_o have_v show_v before_o that_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v have_v separate_v and_o dedicate_v all_o to_o the_o solemn_a service_n of_o god_n all_o the_o time_n that_o it_o can_v spare_v from_o the_o due_a recruit_n of_o nature_n which_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o in_o a_o estate_n of_o innocency_n will_v have_v be_v a_o great_a measure_n and_o part_n of_o time_n than_o the_o seven_o for_o now_o we_o find_v by_o experience_n that_o even_o after_o the_o fall_n since_o that_o the_o earth_n be_v curse_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o require_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o labour_n and_o time_n to_o be_v lie_v out_o upon_o it_o for_o the_o production_n of_o our_o necessary_a sustinence_n than_o before_o the_o fall_n now_o that_o our_o weak_a crazy_a and_o distemper_a body_n call_v for_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o care_n and_o time_n for_o their_o sustentation_n their_o recruit_n and_o reparation_n than_o when_o they_o have_v a_o perfect_a temperature_n be_v complete_o healthy_a strong_a and_o immortal_a in_o innocency_n and_o many_o other_o civil_a domestic_a affair_n take_v up_o and_o must_v have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o our_o time_n which_o will_v have_v exact_v none_o of_o it_o in_o innocencency_n and_o yet_o we_o experience_v i_o say_v that_o six_o in_o seven_o allot_v we_o for_o these_o thing_n be_v sufficient_a enough_o and_o we_o can_v very_o well_o spare_v a_o seven_o day_n for_o the_o solemn_a service_n of_o god_n without_o any_o detriment_n to_o our_o body_n or_o our_o civil_a concern_v yea_o and_o have_v many_o other_o season_n and_o good_a opportunity_n give_v we_o to_o serve_v god_n in_o and_o doubtless_o have_v god_n see_v fit_a to_o have_v require_v the_o six_o part_n of_o our_o time_n it_o will_v have_v be_v so_o also_o wherefore_o i_o conclude_v that_o the_o seven_o part_n of_o the_o week_n or_o one_o day_n of_o the_o seven_o be_v not_o primary_o moral_a because_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n can_v not_o have_v precise_o dictate_v it_o to_o we_o which_o methinks_v i_o can_v demonstrate_v by_o this_o supposition_n suppose_v a_o person_n that_o be_v against_o the_o morality_n of_o the_o sabbath_n that_o judge_v no_o day_n of_o the_o week_n more_o holy_a than_o another_o shall_v by_o providence_n be_v throw_v among_o mahonietans_n or_o heathen_n and_o preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o they_o shall_v be_v instrumental_a to_o convert_v any_o of_o they_o to_o the_o christian_a faith_n i_o assert_v that_o in_o such_o a_o case_n and_o he_o will_v certain_o be_v horrible_o uncharitable_a that_o shall_v judge_v the_o contrary_a if_o they_o do_v keep_v all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o moral_a precept_n with_o a_o sound_a faith_n in_o christ_n they_o will_v infallible_o be_v save_v though_o they_o never_o separate_v one_o day_n of_o the_o week_n entire_o to_o god_n worship_n and_o service_n but_o now_o if_o they_o do_v allowed_o live_v in_o any_o breach_n of_o the_o other_o command_v yea_o suppose_v some_o of_o they_o shall_v never_o have_v be_v express_o teach_v they_o by_o their_o converter_n as_o if_o they_o do_v not_o acknowledge_v the_o only_a true_a god_n in_o their_o soul_n if_o they_o do_v worship_n idol_n if_o they_o do_v swear_v false_o or_o vain_o if_o they_o be_v rebellious_a and_o undutiful_a to_o parent_n and_o magistrate_n if_o they_o live_v in_o hatred_n and_o be_v cruel_a if_o in_o wantonness_n and_o be_v lascivious_a in_o theft_n and_o cozenage_n or_o be_v oppress_v in_o lie_v slander_v and_o false_a witness_v or_o in_o a_o inward_a love_n and_o delight_n in_o any_o of_o these_o sin_n they_o shall_v certain_o perish_v and_o why_o but_o because_o all_o the_o other_o command_n be_v primary_o moral_a and_o this_o of_o the_o seven_o part_n of_o time_n be_v not_o so_o yea_o in_o keep_v the_o other_o command_v they_o keep_v the_o morality_n of_o this_o also_o command_n they_o must_v separate_v time_n to_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o divine_a service_n which_o be_v the_o prime_a morality_n of_o the_o four_o precept_n thus_o i_o think_v it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o sanctification_n of_o one_o seven_o day_n of_o the_o week_n be_v not_o absolute_o and_o primary_o moral_a but_o yet_o it_o may_v also_o be_v conclude_v to_o be_v secondary_o and_o positive_o so_o that_o be_v that_o upon_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o will_n of_o the_o legislator_n and_o his_o injunction_n the_o rational_a creature_n close_v with_o it_o as_o that_o which_o be_v holy_a just_a and_o good_a as_o that_o which_o be_v infinite_o reasonable_a for_o what_o can_v be_v more_o so_o than_o that_o be_v seven_o part_n of_o time_n shall_v be_v devote_v to_o his_o service_n who_o all_o our_o time_n be_v especial_o when_o it_o be_v also_o for_o the_o creature_n be_v chief_a good_a 3._o we_o have_v the_o reason_n to_o inculcate_v its_o observation_n 1._o the_o legislator_n own_o example_n because_o he_o be_v six_o day_n in_o create_v the_o world_n and_o cease_v from_o those_o work_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n rest_v on_o the_o seven_o day_n and_o it_o be_v hence_o only_o in_o all_o this_o command_n that_o they_o can_v have_v any_o show_n or_o ground_n to_o plead_v for_o the_o last_o day_n or_o the_o seven_o day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o be_v the_o sabbath_n or_o rest_n that_o god_n do_v command_v which_o be_v no_o way_n cogent_a because_o it_o may_v be_v mean_v a_o seven_o day_n by_o way_n of_o part_n or_o portion_n and_o not_o the_o seven_o day_n of_o order_n nor_o in_o number_n of_o the_o week_n and_o it_o may_v be_v thus_o understand_v because_o i_o be_v six_o dyas_n in_o make_v the_o world_n and_o then_o rest_v so_o shall_v you_o be_v six_o day_n busy_a in_o your_o common_a lawful_a employment_n and_o then_o a_o seven_o you_o shall_v consecrate_v to_o i_o and_o my_o worship_n so_o that_o in_o this_o sense_n it_o do_v not_o enjoin_v the_o last_o day_n the_o seven_o day_n of_o the_o week_n in_o order_n but_o a_o seven_o day_n in_o proportion_n of_o time_n for_o which_o we_o have_v this_o to_o lead_v that_o see_v god_n example_n be_v make_v the_o great_a fundamental_a argument_n of_o the_o seven-day-r_a it_o shall_v hence_o follow_v that_o if_o adam_n
have_v exact_o follow_v the_o pattern_n than_o the_o six_o day_n of_o the_o week_n will_v bid_v fair_a for_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n of_o all_o the_o seven_o because_o than_o adam_n must_v have_v work_v six_o day_n before_o his_o holy_a rest_n as_o god_n do_v and_o then_o be_v create_v as_o we_o may_v suppose_v about_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o the_o six_o day_n of_o the_o creation_n he_o must_v have_v wrought_v the_o day_n follow_v which_o be_v the_o seven_o and_o so_o the_o five_o other_o day_n follow_v and_o rest_v upon_o the_o six_o day_n as_o his_o first_o sabbath_n for_o that_o will_v have_v be_v the_o day_n after_o his_o six_o day_n labour_n or_o work_n for_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o seven_o day_n after_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o creation_n though_o it_o be_v so_o with_o respect_n to_o god_n work_n yet_o it_o be_v the_o very_a next_o day_n after_o adam_n be_v and_o can_v not_o but_o be_v within_o a_o very_a few_o hour_n if_o hour_n after_o his_o creation_n see_v it_o begin_v in_o the_o evening_n and_o so_o adam_n and_o eve_n be_v so_o far_o from_o a_o exact_a imitation_n of_o god_n in_o the_o observance_n of_o the_o first_o sabbath_n that_o in_o his_o particular_a they_o be_v contrary_a thereto_o for_o god_n wrought_v six_o day_n first_o and_o then_o rest_v the_o seven_o but_o adam_n rest_v his_o first_o day_n and_o then_o wrought_v the_o six_o day_n follow_v god_n rest_n be_v in_o the_o conclusion_n of_o his_o work_n and_o man_n rest_n be_v in_o the_o begin_n of_o his_o work_n in_o his_o first_o seven_o day_n which_o i_o think_v somewhat_o enervate_v this_o solitary_a plea_n they_o have_v here_o for_o the_o last_o week-day-sabbath_n but_o yet_o we_o will_v suppose_v that_o in_o this_o clause_n god_n do_v there_o enjoin_v the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o creation-week_n to_o be_v the_o sabbath_n but_o then_o we_o say_v this_o be_v pure_o positive_a and_o no_o way_n moral_a at_o all_o neither_o primary_o nor_o secondary_o for_o it_o be_v be_v so_o the_o morality_n thereof_o must_v arise_v from_o the_o reason_n that_o be_v give_v for_o it_o viz._n god_n example_n even_o because_o he_o make_v his_o work_n of_o creation_n in_o six_o day_n and_o rest_v on_o the_o seven_o but_o this_o be_v no_o way_n cogent_a or_o rather_o moral_a not_o such_o a_o thing_n as_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v engage_v we_o to_o for_o 1._o god_n be_v not_o to_o be_v imitate_v by_o we_o in_o all_o that_o he_o do_v neither_o can_v the_o rational_a creature_n conclude_v upon_o god_n revelation_n of_o his_o have_v end_v his_o work_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n that_o therefore_o he_o must_v work_v six_o and_o rest_v the_o seven_o without_o a_o express_a injunction_n which_o therefore_o god_n give_v here_o 2._o if_o we_o can_v suppose_v that_o such_o a_o collection_n of_o imitate_v god_n can_v have_v be_v apprehend_v by_o man_n without_o relevation_n then_o the_o six_o day_n of_o the_o week_n will_v by_o he_o be_v pitch_v upon_o for_o his_o own_o sabbath_n of_o rest_n because_o the_o six_o day_n of_o the_o follow_a week_n will_v have_v be_v his_o seven_o day_n after_o his_o six_o day_n work_v as_o before_o 3._o god_n make_v of_o the_o world_n in_o six_o day_n be_v a_o pure_a revelation_n for_o man_n can_v never_o have_v know_v it_o of_o himself_o no_o not_o in_o the_o estate_n of_o his_o pure_a knowledge_n because_o for_o aught_o he_o can_v know_v god_n may_v have_v make_v the_o world_n simultaneous_o all_o at_o once_o or_o by_o one_o word_n speak_v for_o he_o know_v he_o may_v so_o have_v do_v if_o he_o have_v please_v he_o can_v not_o know_v that_o god_n do_v gradual_o or_o progressive_o make_v the_o creature_n much_o less_o that_o he_o take_v up_o six_o day_n for_o it_o neither_o more_o nor_o less_o indeed_o the_o order_n and_o method_n the_o time_n and_o duration_n of_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n must_v be_v by_o revelation_n to_o man_n see_v he_o be_v create_v the_o last_o of_o all_o the_o creature_n so_o that_o in_o this_o respect_n it_o be_v not_o moral_a neither_o can_v it_o ever_o be_v the_o dictate_v of_o man_n mind_n 4._o god_n can_v proper_o rest_v because_o he_o can_v be_v say_v proper_o to_o labour_n rest_v proper_o be_v a_o refreshment_n after_o weariness_n isa_n 40.28_o the_o everlasting_a god_n the_o creator_n of_o the_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n faint_v not_o neither_o be_v weary_a consequent_o neither_o rest_v for_o he_o do_v all_o he_o do_v with_o a_o infinite_a facility_n and_o perfect_a immobility_n and_o take_v no_o more_o pain_n in_o create_v the_o world_n than_o in_o create_v a_o fly_n that_o be_v none_o at_o all_o and_o beside_o as_o before_o god_n work_v still_o in_o his_o work_n of_o preservation_n and_o providence_n which_o be_v altogether_o as_o great_a and_o seven_o day_n in_o the_o repetition_n of_o the_o four_o command_n why_o be_v it_o not_o so_o much_o as_o mention_v for_o deut._n 5_o 13-15_a there_o be_v not_o a_o word_n concern_v it_o but_o whereas_o in_o the_o other_o command_v all_o the_o motive_n that_o be_v use_v and_o adjoin_v to_o they_o in_o their_o first_o edition_n be_v here_o again_o repeat_v yet_o this_o be_v quite_o and_o clean_o leave_v out_o in_o this_o second_o edition_n of_o the_o four_o command_n and_o in_o lieu_n thereof_o their_o mighty_a and_o wonderful_a deliverance_n out_o of_o the_o land_n of_o egypt_n be_v
