necessary_o lead_v we_o unto_o this_o interpretation_n for_o when_o he_o not_o only_o make_v it_o a_o day_n of_o abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o spend_v it_o whole_o in_o god_n service_n public_o but_o also_o that_o the_o end_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v humble_v for_o their_o sin_n &_o so_o reconcile_v unto_o god_n &_o this_o humble_v of_o their_o soul_n be_v principal_o if_o there_o be_v no_o sabbath_n at_o all_o so_o the_o godly_a no_o doubt_n in_o those_o day_n do_v find_v by_o their_o own_o experience_n that_o though_o they_o have_v oftentimes_o cause_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o punishment_n of_o they_o to_o fast_v public_o and_o private_o yet_o if_o they_o have_v have_v no_o set_a time_n appoint_v for_o it_o they_o shall_v very_o most_o earnest_o to_o seek_v to_o god_n for_o his_o pardon_n and_o for_o the_o bestow_n of_o all_o upon_o we_o again_o and_o by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o we_o do_v so_o and_o profess_v that_o in_o ourselves_o by_o reason_n of_o our_o sin_n we_o be_v unwoorthy_a of_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n by_o so_o much_o the_o more_o let_v we_o hope_v from_o the_o mercy_n and_o promise_n of_o god_n whole_o abstain_v from_o any_o breakfast_n in_o the_o morning_n or_o dinner_n at_o noon_n &_o from_o the_o morning_n at_o the_o least_o to_o the_o evening_n they_o must_v give_v themselves_o to_o all_o good_a exercise_n of_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n sing_v of_o psalm_n least_o and_o it_o must_v be_v always_o hold_v one_o day_n at_o the_o least_o meditate_v upon_o their_o sin_n and_o upon_o it_o and_o think_v of_o it_o before_o hand_n that_o we_o take_v order_n for_o and_o so_o dispose_v of_o all_o our_o worldly_a business_n and_o affair_n that_o that_o day_n we_o have_v nothing_o to_o hinder_v we_o from_o bestow_v it_o whole_o upon_o the_o worship_n and_o service_n
peter_n and_o john_n when_o they_o be_v forbid_v to_o preach_v which_o christ_n have_v necessary_o enjoin_v they_o by_o virtue_n of_o their_o office_n of_o apostleship_n and_o so_o in_o obey_v they_o therein_o they_o shall_v have_v disobey_v god_n they_o answer_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v and_o so_o do_v that_o which_o god_n necessary_o command_v though_o man_n forbid_v they_o and_o this_o must_v thing_n itself_o i_o mean_v from_o the_o practice_n of_o private_a fast_n when_o they_o shall_v have_v just_a cause_n for_o they_o may_v celebrate_v they_o upon_o the_o sabbath_n in_o which_o their_o master_n shall_v give_v they_o leave_v to_o be_v whole_o the_o lord_n servant_n and_o so_o not_o encumber_v they_o with_o any_o service_n except_v thing_n of_o necessity_n which_o be_v permit_v even_o in_o the_o day_n of_o fast_n and_o though_o there_o be_v few_o under_o government_n in_o family_n of_o that_o godliness_n and_o conscience_n that_o they_o be_v like_a to_o practice_v these_o private_a the_o eight_o homily_n intreat_v of_o the_o second_o kind_n of_o fast_n which_o be_v public_a &_o why_o so_o call_v and_o how_o all_o sort_n ought_v to_o come_v to_o they_o and_o what_o a_o great_a at_o this_o time_n be_v public_a or_o common_a and_o be_v so_o call_v because_o it_o be_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v use_v not_o of_o a_o few_o but_o a_o whole_a church_n and_o congregation_n in_o a_o town_n or_o city_n or_o of_o many_o church_n in_o the_o same_o or_o in_o a_o country_n or_o realm_n and_o thus_o use_v by_o the_o public_a authority_n and_o commandment_n of_o they_o who_o next_o unto_o christ_n jesus_n have_v the_o government_n of_o those_o place_n where_o the_o fast_o be_v hold_v and_o not_o by_o the_o motion_n or_o advice_n of_o some_o private_a man_n as_o the_o other_o that_o we_o speak_v of_o before_o be_v and_o therefore_o also_o these_o kind_n of_o fast_n be_v keep_v in_o the_o public_a place_n open_o where_o they_o use_v to_o have_v their_o common_a assembly_n for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n where_o the_o church_n be_v constitute_v under_o a_o christian_a prince_n and_o not_o in_o any_o private_a house_n or_o house_n and_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o be_v some_o general_a calamity_n of_o the_o church_n for_o the_o most_o part_n and_o not_o private_a to_o one_o or_o some_o few_o and_o that_o either_o in_o the_o same_o place_n where_o the_o fast_o be_v recompense_v that_o great_a loss_n by_o send_v so_o worthy_a a_o king_n into_o her_o room_n yet_o we_o may_v then_o have_v fear_v some_o other_o great_a punishment_n as_o we_o see_v how_o this_o plague_n have_v follow_v and_o there_o be_v cause_n to_o fear_v it_o before_o though_o few_o do_v think_v of_o it_o and_o what_o may_v be_v next_o unto_o this_o we_o know_v not_o we_o be_v sure_a that_o much_o have_v be_v deserve_v and_o so_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n in_o respect_n of_o these_o great_a sin_n we_o have_v need_v to_o seek_v to_o the_o lord_n to_o turn_v it_o away_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o second_o cause_n which_o may_v move_v we_o to_o fear_v some_o great_a wrath_n and_o displeasure_n of_o god_n to_o be_v show_v in_o some_o kind_n of_o correction_n and_o rod_n of_o he_o whereby_o we_o may_v willing_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o he_o in_o public_a fast_n even_o the_o great_a sin_n that_o in_o all_o sort_v every_o where_n abound_v and_o most_o shameful_o lift_v up_o their_o head_n uncontroled_a three_o and_o last_o of_o all_o sâ—ing_v god_n nor_o â—â—_o to_o come_v apearing_a iâ—_n his_o judgement_n denounce_v have_v be_v cause_n of_o public_a sâ—_n sâ—ing_v concern_v this_o matter_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n in_o former_a time_n have_v wise_o discern_v beforehand_o of_o the_o stormy_a tempest_n of_o god_n wrath_n to_o come_v by_o the_o fearful_a threaten_n of_o god_n judgement_n denounce_v against_o they_o by_o his_o faithful_a servant_n that_o have_v speak_v to_o they_o in_o his_o name_n who_o as_o they_o have_v be_v persuade_v that_o they_o have_v be_v stir_v up_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o speak_v unto_o they_o from_o his_o mouth_n and_o to_o warn_v they_o thereby_o out_o of_o his_o word_n as_o from_o himself_o so_o they_o have_v fear_v the_o thing_n that_o have_v be_v speak_v against_o they_o and_o as_o though_o they_o do_v see_v they_o come_v have_v seek_v unto_o he_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n to_o escape_v they_o and_o this_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o move_v the_o king_n of_o ninive_n to_o do_v as_o he_o do_v namely_o that_o when_o he_o hear_v the_o preach_n of_o the_o prophet_n jona_n how_o he_o do_v cry_v out_o against_o their_o sin_n and_o threaten_v god_n vengeance_n to_o light_v speedy_o upon_o the_o whole_a city_n unless_o they_o do_v speedy_o repent_v 3.4_o â—ona_fw-la 3.4_o even_o that_o prepare_v themselves_o to_o battle_n and_o to_o go_v meet_v with_o their_o enemy_n so_o this_o preach_n of_o god_n servant_n who_o lift_v up_o his_o voice_n against_o they_o as_o a_o trumpet_n do_v awaken_v they_o out_o of_o the_o sleep_n of_o security_n and_o to_o meet_v the_o lord_n who_o be_v become_v their_o enemy_n by_o reason_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o in_o fast_v and_o prayer_n humble_o submit_v themselves_o unto_o he_o to_o entreat_v at_o his_o hand_n condition_n of_o peace_n and_o true_o in_o this_o respect_n if_o we_o shall_v not_o in_o like_a manner_n seek_v to_o the_o lord_n
