vow_v it_o either_o rash_o and_o without_o due_a advertisement_n or_o for_o some_o indirect_a and_o unwarrantable_a end_n or_o upon_o slight_a and_o insufficient_a inducement_n or_o the_o like_a any_o of_o these_o obliquity_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v the_o vow_n unlawful_a in_o respect_n of_o the_o act_n of_o vow_v yet_o because_o these_o obliquity_n do_v not_o necessary_o pass_v upon_o the_o matter_n itself_o or_o the_o thing_n vow_v but_o may_v be_v sever_v from_o it_o therefore_o though_o the_o act_n of_o vow_v be_v sinful_a the_o vow_n itself_o for_o all_o that_o may_v stand_v good_a and_o bind_v the_o party_n to_o performance_n but_o where_o the_o sinful_a obliquity_n pass_v upon_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o matter_n or_o adher_v inseparable_o thereunto_o there_o not_o only_o the_o act_n of_o vow_v be_v sinful_a but_o the_o performance_n also_o become_v unlawful_a in_o which_o case_n those_o other_o say_v ought_v rather_o to_o have_v place_n juramentum_fw-la non_fw-la debet_fw-la esse_fw-la vinculum_fw-la iniquitatis_fw-la in_fw-la malis_fw-la promissis_fw-la rescinde_fw-la fidem_fw-la in_fw-la turpi_fw-la voto_fw-la maâ—a_fw-la decretum_fw-la etc._n etc._n sect._n 10._o if_o it_o shall_v be_v say_v that_o this_o difference_n be_v admit_v will_v nothing_o avail_v the_o gentlewoman_n in_o our_o present_a case_n to_o free_v she_o from_o the_o obligation_n of_o her_o say_a promise_n because_o here_o the_o matter_n of_o promise_n seem_v not_o to_o be_v in_o itself_o unlawful_a especial_o on_o her_o part_n for_o if_o the_o gentleman_n her_o friend_n be_v present_o free_a from_o the_o bond_n of_o matrimony_n by_o the_o death_n of_o his_o wife_n as_o the_o gentlewoman_n now_o be_v by_o the_o death_n of_o her_o husband_n they_o may_v perform_v what_o they_o have_v promise_v either_o to_o other_o by_o join_v themselves_o in_o matrimony_n and_o that_o without_o sin_n which_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o the_o sinful_a obliquity_n be_v only_o in_o the_o act_n of_o promise_a which_o therefore_o they_o ought_v to_o repent_v of_o but_o do_v not_o cleave_v to_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o promise_n which_o therefore_o they_o ought_v not_o to_o violate_v to_o this_o i_o answer_v what_o in_o my_o opinion_n be_v true_a that_o if_o both_o the_o party_n be_v now_o actual_o free_a from_o the_o marriage_n bond_n they_o not_o only_o lawful_o may_v but_o be_v in_o conscience_n bind_v unless_o some_o other_o lawful_a impediment_n shall_v hinder_v to_o join_v themselves_o together_o in_o matrimony_n because_o none_o of_o the_o forementioned_a obliquity_n which_o make_v the_o former_a act_n of_o promise_v unlawful_a will_v fall_v upon_o the_o after_z act_n of_o marriage_n to_o make_v it_o unlawful_a but_o that_o allegation_n be_v not_o direct_v to_o the_o point_n in_o hand_n nor_o to_o the_o case_n as_o it_o be_v propound_v for_o it_o may_v be_v observe_v from_o the_o very_a form_n of_o the_o proposal_n that_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o promise_n wherein_o the_o party_n interchangeable_o bind_v themselves_o be_v not_o to_o marry_v together_o when_o they_o shall_v be_v both_o free_a upon_o which_o false_a ground_n the_o objection_n run_v that_o be_v indeed_o the_o thing_n they_o aim_v at_o therein_o but_o the_o end_n be_v one_o thing_n and_o the_o matter_n another_o but_o the_o very_a matter_n of_o the_o promise_n be_v the_o continuance_n of_o their_o mutual_a affection_n either_o to_o other_o with_o a_o resolution_n to_o stay_v the_o one_o for_o the_o other_o when_o either_o party_n shall_v happen_v to_o be_v free_a from_o the_o bond_n of_o the_o present_a matrimony_n till_o the_o other_o shall_v be_v also_o free_a the_o continuance_n of_o which_o affection_n and_o resolution_n will_v upon_o examination_n be_v find_v subject_n to_o all_o or_o some_o of_o the_o three_o obliquity_n aforesaid_a and_o therefore_o as_o such_o a_o affection_n and_o resolution_n can_v not_o be_v entertain_v at_o the_o first_o without_o sin_n so_o neither_o can_v they_o be_v now_o continue_v in_o without_o sin_n for_o so_o long_o as_o they_o continue_v the_o first_o of_o the_o say_a obliquity_n remain_v still_o both_o on_o his_o part_n and_o she_o the_o second_o indeed_o by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o husband_n be_v cease_v on_o her_o part_n but_o remain_v still_o on_o he_o and_o the_o three_o contrary_o be_v on_o his_o part_n cease_v remain_v still_o on_o she_o as_o will_v evident_o appear_v to_o the_o understanding_n of_o any_o man_n that_o shall_v take_v the_o pain_n to_o examine_v it_o sect._n 11._o yea_o and_o it_o be_v further_a to_o be_v consider_v that_o the_o continuance_n of_o such_o a_o affection_n and_o resolution_n may_v be_v likely_a to_o expose_v a_o well_o the_o one_o as_o the_o other_o to_o
