resolve_v in_o any_o categorick_a that_o be_v true_a nay_o it_o have_v not_o so_o much_o as_o one_o instance_n or_o particular_a whereupon_o it_o may_v be_v build_v for_o no_o man_n do_v ever_o seek_v after_o the_o lord_n and_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o truth_n who_o do_v not_o meet_v with_o a_o answer_n of_o peace_n but_o 2._o if_o that_o hypothesis_n be_v true_a than_o every_o door_n of_o hope_n must_v be_v shut_v against_o such_o penitent_n for_o though_o they_o shall_v mourn_v and_o cry_v to_o god_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o hear_v nor_o answer_n to_o what_o purpose_n then_o shall_v we_o exhort_v such_o to_o repent_v and_o call_v upon_o the_o lord_n there_o be_v not_o a_o word_n of_o command_n or_o exhortation_n in_o the_o word_n that_o have_v not_o a_o promise_n by_o way_n of_o to_o the_o lord_n as_o the_o word_n ver_fw-la 28._o do_v imply_v yet_o the_o motive_n be_v carnal_a and_o their_o end_n selfish_a it_o be_v no_o prayer_n in_o god_n account_n though_o it_o get_v the_o name_n and_o such_o crier_n may_v be_v say_v to_o call_v upon_o the_o lord_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o such_o a_o prayer_n as_o may_v lay_v claim_n to_o a_o promise_n albeit_o the_o lord_n sometime_o out_o of_o his_o general_a bounty_n may_v answer_v such_o a_o cry_n and_o give_v to_o such_o supplicant_n their_o request_n when_o he_o send_v leanness_n into_o their_o soul_n psal_n multitude_n psal_n i_o deny_v not_o that_o in_o such_o public_a mercy_n and_o deliveranee_n as_o the_o psalmist_n there_o mention_v the_o lord_n may_v have_v respect_n to_o his_o saint_n and_o their_o prayer_n and_o for_o their_o sake_n do_v good_a to_o a_o multitude_n 106.15_o 43_o 44._o etc._n etc._n but_o though_o thus_o he_o may_v pity_v his_o creature_n in_o misery_n and_o answer_v their_o carnal_a desire_n yet_o for_o such_o as_o be_v lie_v under_o that_o sad_a threaten_n prov._n 1._o he_o will_v dispensation_n will_v yet_o neither_o thus_o be_v that_o threaten_v so_o absolute_a but_o it_o may_v as_o in_o ahab_n etc._n etc._n admit_v a_o condition_n and_o exception_n in_o reference_n to_o some_o holy_a end_n and_o design_n at_o which_o the_o lord_n may_v aim_v at_o in_o such_o a_o dispensation_n laugh_v at_o their_o calamity_n and_o while_o they_o thus_o call_v upon_o he_o he_o will_v not_o answer_v we_o have_v a_o parallel_n scripture_n hos_n 7.13_o 14._o whereas_o he_o threaten_v to_o destroy_v they_o notwithstanding_o such_o carnal_a devotion_n so_o he_o tell_v they_o that_o their_o prayer_n deserve_v not_o the_o name_n as_o not_o proceed_v from_o a_o humble_a and_o sincere_a heart_n we_o unto_o they_o for_o they_o have_v flee_v from_o i_o destruction_n unto_o they_o because_o they_o have_v transgress_v against_o i_o and_o they_o have_v not_o cry_v unto_o i_o with_o their_o heart_n when_o they_o howl_v upon_o their_o bed_n they_o assemble_v themselves_o for_o corn_n and_o wine_n and_o they_o rebel_v against_o i_o but_o though_o the_o lord_n reject_v such_o carnal_a prayer_n yet_o this_o need_v not_o discourage_v thou_o who_o offere_v up_o to_o he_o a_o break_a and_o contrite_a heart_n a_o sacrifice_n which_o he_o never_o do_v nor_o will_v
