dignity_n now_o read_v daily_o in_o god_n holy_a word_n especial_o in_o the_o gospel_n do_v very_o much_o abate_v all_o exorbitancy_n in_o these_o matter_n when_o there_o we_o contemplate_v the_o poverty_n the_o humiliation_n the_o meekness_n the_o affability_n of_o the_o king_n of_o eternal_a glory_n yet_o this_o hinder_v he_o not_o in_o show_v his_o authority_n when_o it_o be_v needful_a for_o he_o sharp_o rebuke_v the_o vice_n of_o the_o jew_n and_o with_o a_o scourge_n whip_v out_o of_o the_o temple_n the_o money-changer_n and_o other_o mechanic_n that_o profane_v it_o the_o severity_n of_o justice_n mingle_v with_o meekness_n and_o affability_n in_o due_a time_n and_o place_n have_v a_o wonderful_a command_a authority_n over_o the_o heart_n of_o all_o and_o make_v government_n both_o belove_v and_o fear_v beside_o read_v the_o scripture_n have_v another_o great_a effect_n conduce_v very_o much_o to_o government_n for_o it_o be_v very_o powerful_a in_o operation_n make_v great_a impression_n of_o all_o virtue_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n the_o practice_n whereof_o in_o the_o magistrate_n gain_v he_o great_a reverence_n to_o his_o authority_n and_o be_v also_o a_o great_a inducement_n to_o the_o people_n to_o follow_v he_o in_o the_o way_n of_o virtue_n and_o then_o the_o government_n will_v be_v so_o easy_a to_o he_o as_o he_o may_v lead_v they_o with_o a_o twine_n thread_n as_o common_o we_o say_v to_o whatsoever_o he_o please_v virtuous_a person_n never_o resist_v authority_n know_v it_o be_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n but_o will_v see_v that_o she_o be_v not_o the_o infallible_a church_n she_o be_v pretend_v to_o be_v as_o plain_o as_o you_o see_v the_o moon_n be_v not_o the_o sun_n you_o will_v discover_v such_o foul_a black_a the_o way_n to_o heaven_n but_o shut_v it_o up_o from_o the_o people_n that_o she_o may_v lead_v they_o blindfold_a into_o error_n and_o so_o much_o be_v speak_v concern_v this_o text_n the_o church_n be_v the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o the_o truth_n if_o any_o man_n can_v give_v a_o better_a exposition_n of_o this_o text_n i_o shall_v be_v glad_a to_o learn_v it_o of_o he_o but_o i_o be_o sure_a the_o papist_n have_v not_o yet_o by_o all_o that_o ever_o i_o see_v or_o hear_v of_o they_o bring_v we_o another_o text_n much_o like_o this_o matth._n the_o last_o chapter_n where_o christ_n i_o pray_v you_o still_o remember_v what_o we_o be_v search_v scripture_n for_o and_o that_o be_v a_o plain_a easy_a rule_n to_o determine_v all_o doubt_n that_o may_v arise_v in_o matter_n of_o faith_n and_o certain_o this_o text_n be_v not_o such_o but_o as_o far_o or_o far_o from_o that_o than_o the_o former_a for_o it_o be_v a_o figurative_a speech_n all_o along_o it_o speak_v of_o building_n on_o a_o rock_n and_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n of_o bind_v and_o lose_v almost_o every_o word_n a_o figure_n and_o the_o great_a doctor_n and_o father_n of_o the_o church_n have_v dispute_v very_o various_o about_o it_o the_o papist_n can_v deny_v it_o and_o therefore_o this_o can_v be_v a_o plain_a easy_a rule_n to_o clear_v doubtful_a matter_n it_o be_v so_o doubtful_a in_o itself_o let_v we_o now_o hear_v what_o the_o text_n itself_o say_v thou_o be_v peter_n and_o upon_o this_o rock_n i_o will_v build_v my_o church_n and_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o it_o be_v here_o any_o one_o word_n that_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v infallible_a and_o can_v err_v the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o the_o church_n therefore_o
