receive_v apostolical_a authority_n and_o gift_n to_o go_v into_o all_o the_o world_n and_o preach_v unto_o every_o creature_n for_o the_o connexion_n and_o order_n be_v alike_o but_o no_o man_n will_v yield_v this_o consequence_n second_o by_o as_o good_a and_o better_a consequence_n you_o may_v gather_v that_o none_o shall_v be_v save_v but_o those_o that_o believe_v and_o be_v baptize_v which_o be_v false_a for_o whatsoever_o you_o hold_v i_o conceive_v that_o none_o but_o those_o that_o be_v give_v over_o to_o strong_a delusion_n will_v hold_v that_o all_o the_o child_n of_o christian_a parent_n that_o die_v before_o they_o come_v to_o actual_a faith_n must_v remediles_o perish_v and_o as_o for_o the_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o baptism_n to_o salvation_n if_o with_o the_o papist_n you_o hold_v it_o will_v easy_o be_v confute_v from_o this_o scripture_n show_v that_o not_o want_v of_o baptism_n where_o it_o can_v be_v have_v and_o be_v not_o wilful_o contemn_v but_o unbelief_n condemn_v yet_o there_o be_v as_o good_a reason_n for_o these_o inference_n from_o this_o place_n as_o for_o that_o you_o will_v imply_v hence_o or_o three_o that_o nothing_o but_o unbelief_n can_v be_v the_o ground_n of_o damnation_n may_v as_o well_o be_v conclude_v hence_o as_o that_o nothing_o but_o faith_n can_v be_v the_o ground_n of_o baptism_n whereas_o not_o only_a unbelief_n but_o every_o sin_n be_v damnable_a and_o without_o repentance_n will_v bring_v damnation_n three_o i_o answer_v to_o this_o scripture_n that_o though_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o the_o apostle_n who_o be_v to_o gather_v a_o church_n out_o the_o unbelieved_a world_n and_o take_v they_o into_o covenant_n that_o be_v out_o of_o covenant_n may_v not_o baptize_v any_o but_o those_o who_o by_o profess_v faith_n take_v hold_v of_o the_o covenant_n from_o which_o before_o they_o be_v alien_n and_o their_o family_n who_o be_v now_o receive_v into_o covenant_n with_o they_o yet_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o the_o child_n of_o parent_n in_o covenant_n and_o so_o in_o covenant_n themselves_o shall_v be_v deny_v baptism_n though_o they_o want_v actual_a faith_n for_o there_o be_v not_o the_o same_o reason_n of_o a_o church_n gather_v and_o to_o be_v gather_v as_o that_o latter_a part_n he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v damn_v if_o it_o be_v understand_v of_o actual_a faith_n yet_o the_o posterity_n of_o infidel_n may_v be_v baptize_v upon_o their_o faith_n and_o repentance_n therefore_o the_o antecedent_n must_v needs_o be_v false_a viz._n that_o the_o baptise_v of_o infant_n of_o christian_a parent_n be_v not_o according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o word_n and_o consequent_o the_o contradictory_n thereto_o true_a viz._n that_o the_o baptise_v of_o infant_n bear_v of_o parent_n in_o covenant_n be_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n the_o assumption_n i_o conceive_v needs_o no_o proof_n see_v christ_n have_v appoint_v that_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n shall_v be_v perpetual_a to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n matth._n 28.19.20_o 1_o cor._n 11.26_o to_o those_o that_o shall_v be_v in_o covenant_n for_o the_o confirmation_n then_o of_o the_o proposition_n and_o make_v clear_a its_o consequence_n consider_v first_o there_o be_v no_o command_n example_n or_o other_o testimony_n in_o scripture_n can_v be_v give_v to_o show_v that_o new_a covenant_n and_o be_v come_v of_o parent_n that_o have_v never_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o therefore_o with_o less_o reason_n can_v be_v apply_v to_o the_o posterity_n of_o christian_a parent_n when_o they_o come_v to_o year_n of_o discretion_n then_o when_o they_o be_v infant_n for_o those_o example_n and_o command_n show_v that_o so_o soon_o as_o one_o be_v in_o covenant_n with_o god_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o have_v right_a unto_o baptism_n neither_o can_v it_o without_o sin_n to_o god_n and_o injury_n to_o the_o person_n be_v deny_v to_o he_o but_o aught_o to_o be_v administer_v so_o soon_o as_o it_o may_v convenient_o be_v have_v and_o therefore_o as_o they_o that_o have_v be_v out_o of_o covenant_n before_o so_o soon_o as_o they_o have_v repent_v and_o believe_v at_o least_o profess_a so_o much_o which_o be_v necessary_a to_o their_o be_v take_v into_o covenant_n ought_v to_o be_v baptize_v as_o soon_o as_o may_v
