which_o be_v describe_v by_o their_o effect_n which_o be_v three_o they_o work_v miracle_n they_o go_v forth_o to_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o gather_v they_o to_o battle_n and_o three_o they_o do_v gather_v they_o together_o into_o a_o place_n call_v in_o the_o hebrew_n tongue_n armageddon_n the_o watchword_n which_o be_v the_o second_o adjunct_n observe_v in_o this_o warlike_a preparation_n be_v the_o watchword_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n to_o his_o people_n in_o the_o word_n of_o my_o text_n there_o be_v two_o part_n of_o it_o first_o a_o description_n of_o the_o manner_n instrument_n shall_v go_v forth_o to_o gather_v the_o prince_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o of_o the_o whole_a world_n unto_o battle_n and_o those_o prince_n shall_v go_v forth_o to_o battle_n against_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o people_n it_o be_v behooveful_a for_o the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o behold_v the_o lord_n jesus_n come_v against_o they_o or_o come_v to_o they_o as_o a_o thief_n that_o be_v the_o note_n when_o the_o lord_n expose_v his_o people_n to_o great_a trial_n by_o the_o busy_a diligence_n of_o those_o frog_n or_o by_o the_o violent_a rage_n of_o the_o beast_n and_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n against_o religion_n the_o lord_n than_o call_v his_o people_n to_o behold_v he_o come_v upon_o they_o i_o mean_v upon_o all_o the_o professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o lord_n call_v they_o to_o look_v upon_o he_o come_v at_o they_o or_o come_v to_o they_o as_o a_o thief_n behold_v say_v he_o i_o come_v as_o a_o thief_n when_o do_v he_o say_v so_o when_o these_o frog_n be_v let_v forth_o those_o unclean_a spirit_n of_o devil_n send_v forth_o to_o stir_v up_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o of_o the_o world_n to_o gather_v they_o to_o battle_n against_o the_o lord_n and_o against_o his_o people_n and_o against_o christian_a religion_n and_o they_o that_o maintain_v it_o then_o behold_v i_o come_v as_o a_o thief_n they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n because_o the_o note_n be_v double_a that_o the_o text_n hold_v forth_o i_o must_v be_v brief_a in_o either_o of_o they_o as_o a_o thief_n the_o scripture_n have_v respect_n to_o a_o fourefould_a manner_n of_o a_o thief_n come_v he_o do_v not_o come_v as_o a_o thief_n in_o justice_n or_o robbery_n that_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n can_v be_v capable_a of_o how_o can_v he_o steal_v any_o thing_n from_o we_o which_o be_v not_o his_o own_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o it_o be_v he_o and_o therefore_o in_o that_o sense_n he_o can_v be_v say_v to_o come_v as_o a_o thief_n the_o last_o judgement_n but_o his_o come_n in_o any_o notable_a judgement_n his_o come_n especial_o if_o it_o be_v a_o come_v sudden_o and_o secret_o and_o powerful_o it_o be_v come_v as_o a_o thief_n as_o you_o have_v a_o instance_n of_o it_o in_o rev._n 3.3_o to_o the_o church_n of_o sardis_n i_o will_v come_v on_o thou_o as_o a_o thief_n how_o like_o a_o thief_n thou_o shall_v not_o know_v what_o hour_n i_o will_v come_v upon_o thou_o and_o so_o in_o luke_n 12.39_o if_o the_o good_a man_n of_o the_o house_n have_v know_v what_o hour_n the_o thief_n will_v come_v he_o will_v have_v watch_v and_o not_o have_v suffer_v his_o house_n to_o be_v break_v through_o but_o come_v sudden_o and_o secret_o at_o unaware_o therefore_o
and_o stay_n of_o his_o name_n and_o life_n and_o of_o his_o prosperity_n lord_n god_n what_o will_v thou_o give_v i_o see_v i_o go_v childless_a say_v abraham_n such_o as_o be_v the_o mourning_n of_o judah_n and_o jerusalem_n when_o they_o see_v family_n church_n and_o commonwealth_n all_o pluck_v up_o by_o the_o root_n in_o the_o loss_n of_o one_o man_n such_o be_v the_o mourning_n of_o every_o godly_a soul_n see_v all_o his_o hope_n pluck_v up_o by_o the_o root_n for_o the_o want_n of_o christ_n but_o you_o will_v say_v be_v it_o not_o godly_a mourning_n unless_o it_o be_v obj._n so_o great_a may_v not_o a_o man_n mourn_v more_o for_o loss_n of_o church_n and_o commonwealth_n and_o for_o his_o only_a son_n then_o for_o christ_n i_o answer_v mourn_v for_o one_o of_o these_o may_v indeed_o make_v more_o answ_n noise_n but_o not_o be_v a_o great_a mourning_n when_o a_o man_n mourn_v for_o his_o first_o bear_v the_o window_n of_o heaven_n be_v open_a the_o judgement_n of_o god_n be_v open_a and_o the_o fountain_n of_o the_o great_a deep_a be_v open_a this_o or_o that_o deep_a affliction_n seize_v upon_o a_o man_n nature_n set_v a_o man_n on_o work_n to_o mourn_v and_o grace_n do_v not_o hinder_v it_o but_o when_o a_o man_n mourn_v for_o want_v of_o christ_n the_o window_n of_o heaven_n indeed_o be_v open_a but_o this_o mourning_n find_v much_o opposition_n below_o even_o from_o our_o heart_n within_o a_o small_a shallow_a channel_n come_v down_o from_o a_o hill_n will_v make_v a_o great_a noise_n when_o a_o man_n mourn_v for_o his_o only_a son_n it_o come_v down_o from_o god_n as_o a_o judgement_n down_o hill_n nothing_o hinder_v but_o this_o mourning_n for_o christ_n be_v like_o a_o stream_n that_o go_v up_o hill_n as_o it_o be_v and_o through_o many_o reed_n for_o in_o these_o thing_n it_o do_v exceed_v all_o other_o grief_n and_o mourning_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v more_o durable_a than_o any_o other_o sorrow_n our_o time_n in_o this_o world_n will_v never_o wear_v it_o out_o whereas_o other_o sorrow_n though_o it_o be_v for_o a_o man_n only_a son_n will_v not_o last_v always_o time_n will_v wear_v it_o out_o it_o be_v a_o increase_v sorrow_n other_o sorrow_n be_v more_o moderate_v every_o day_n than_o other_o but_o this_o grow_v still_o more_o and_o more_o powerful_a and_o will_v eat_v up_o all_o other_o grief_n if_o a_o man_n have_v but_o a_o wound_n in_o his_o conscience_n it_o will_v wear_v out_o all_o other_o cross_n but_o a_o wound_a spirit_n who_o can_v bear_v prov._n 18.14_o it_o be_v a_o very_a strong_a mourning_n as_o we_o may_v perceive_v ps_n 102.3.4_o etc._n etc._n where_o the_o holy_a man_n complain_v that_o his_o day_n be_v thereby_o consume_v like_o smoke_n and_o his_o bone_n burn_v as_o a_o hearth_n his_o heart_n be_v smite_v and_o wither_v like_o grass_n so_o that_o he_o forget_v to_o eat_v his_o bread_n etc._n etc._n this_o godly_a sorrow_n be_v also_o more_o pure_a than_o any_o other_o sorrow_n have_v not_o so_o much_o mixture_n with_o lust_n and_o carnal_a affection_n when_o david_n mourn_v for_o absalon_n there_o be_v much_o carnal_a affection_n in_o it_o in_o so_o much_o that_o joab_n do_v perceive_v it_o and_o deal_v sharp_o with_o he_o for_o it_o but_o this_o mourning_n for_o christ_n be_v heavenly_a be_v not_o so_o clog_v with_o those_o boisterous_a distemper_n which_o other_o mourning_n be_v fill_v withal_o see_v a_o broad_a difference_n in_o the_o cause_n and_o object_n of_o this_o mourning_n when_o a_o man_n mourn_v for_o christ_n as_o wrong_v by_o he_o and_o yet_o see_v himself_o save_v by_o christ_n as_o this_o object_n be_v transcendent_a so_o be_v the_o mourn_a transcendent_a also_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v rom._n 8_o 26._o the_o spirit_n make_v intercession_n for_o we_o with_o groan_n that_o can_v be_v utter_v thus_o be_v set_v upon_o christ_n and_o foment_v by_o his_o spirit_n it_o be_v eternal_a in_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o and_o will_v lift_v up_o the_o i_o will_v commend_v this_o unto_o all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n that_o they_o regulate_v their_o mourning_n according_a to_o this_o mourning_n let_v we_o mourn_v for_o christ_n and_o for_o his_o death_n and_o be_v true_o sensible_a of_o the_o great_a injury_n which_o we_o have_v do_v unto_o he_o that_o so_o our_o grief_n may_v swallow_v up_o all_o the_o baseness_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o
