turn_v to_o behold_v she_o again_o he_o do_v behold_v wisdom_n before_o and_o do_v search_v she_o out_o by_o herself_o &_o find_v much_o indignation_n and_o sorrow_n now_o he_o do_v behold_v what_o commodity_n he_o receive_v by_o she_o be_v mix_v with_o delight_n she_o guide_v his_o hart_n through_o pleasure_n and_o because_o he_o speak_v of_o every_o thing_n so_o resolute_o before_o he_o do_v proceed_v any_o further_a he_o prevent_v a_o objection_n for_o it_o may_v be_v say_v who_o be_v solomon_n that_o we_o shall_v stand_v to_o his_o sentence_n be_v his_o experience_n so_o perfect_a above_o all_o other_o to_o this_o he_o make_v answer_v what_o shall_v the_o man_n do_v which_o shall_v follow_v the_o king_n that_o be_v which_o will_v search_v out_o matter_n which_o he_o have_v then_o i_o see_v say_v he_o that_o there_o be_v profit_n in_o wisdom_n more_o than_o in_o folly_n as_o there_o be_v profit_n in_o light_n more_o than_o in_o darkness_n the_o wise_a man_n eye_n be_v in_o his_o head_n but_o the_o fool_n walk_v in_o the_o dark_a he_o show_v before_o that_o to_o take_v delight_n in_o his_o travail_n his_o hart_n be_v guide_v in_o wisdom_n have_v some_o commodity_n in_o it_o but_o yet_o all_o vanity_n it_o be_v but_o his_o portion_n for_o the_o present_a time_n so_o now_o he_o declare_v that_o he_o do_v also_o find_v profit_n in_o wisdom_n be_v thus_o temper_v nevertheless_o all_o be_v but_o vanity_n as_o he_o show_v by_o reason_n but_o first_o see_v how_o he_o do_v lay_v open_a the_o commodity_n of_o wisdom_n above_o folly_n by_o a_o comparison_n it_o be_v so_o much_o more_o beneficial_a and_o good_a as_o the_o light_n be_v above_o the_o darkness_n compare_v then_o these_o two_o the_o light_n and_o the_o darkness_n and_o you_o have_v the_o difference_n of_o the_o other_o it_o be_v not_o in_o every_o man_n power_n to_o match_v wisdom_n and_o folly_n together_o for_o how_o shall_v man_n judge_v of_o that_o which_o they_o know_v not_o nor_o never_o see_v they_o be_v acquaint_v with_o folly_n but_o wisdom_n be_v hide_v from_o they_o for_o this_o cause_n he_o give_v a_o rule_n which_o be_v common_a all_o man_n can_v tell_v what_o profit_n there_o be_v in_o light_n above_o darkness_n and_o he_o show_v that_o thereby_o we_o may_v take_v a_o just_a measure_n what_o profit_n there_o be_v in_o wisdom_n more_o than_o in_o folly_n when_o he_o say_v light_n and_o be_v deprive_v thereof_o eftsoon_o by_o the_o dark_a this_o be_v common_a to_o the_o fool_n and_o to_o the_o wise_a he_o that_o walk_v in_o the_o light_n do_v not_o stumble_v for_o it_o show_v he_o his_o way_n he_o that_o go_v in_o the_o dark_a know_v not_o whether_o he_o go_v he_o step_v into_o the_o ditch_n the_o light_n be_v comfortable_a and_o show_v unto_o a_o man_n many_o cheerful_a and_o delightsome_a thing_n darkness_n be_v doleful_a and_o uncomfortable_a cover_v the_o beauty_n of_o all_o goodly_a thing_n when_o a_o man_n be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o by_o the_o light_a man_n see_v to_o order_v their_o work_n and_o do_v it_o well_o in_o the_o dark_a they_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o mar_v that_o they_o take_v in_o hand_n we_o see_v that_o the_o eye_n be_v y_z e_z light_n of_o the_o body_n they_o be_v place_v above_o in_o the_o head_n as_o in_o a_o watch_n to_o be_v and_o so_o behold_v round_o about_o and_o a_o far_o of_o if_o there_o be_v any_o good_a to_o be_v get_v they_o show_v where_o the_o way_n lie_v towards_o it_o if_o any_o danger_n approach_n they_o tell_v how_o to_o shun_v and_o avoid_v the_o same_o to_o this_o he_o compare_v the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o wise_a when_o he_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n eye_n be_v in_o his_o head_n but_o he_o liken_v a_o fool_n to_o a_o blind_a man_n the_o fool_n say_v he_o do_v walk_v in_o darkness_n against_o every_o post_n he_o wrap_v himself_o among_o bush_n and_o brier_n and_o be_v rend_v and_o tear_v if_o he_o struggle_v out_o he_o be_v never_o the_o near_a because_o he_o be_v by_o and_o by_o in_o new_a danger_n thus_o we_o may_v see_v what_o be_v the_o prosite_a of_o wisdom_n above_o folly_n let_v we_o note_v here_o then_o first_o that_o solomon_n do_v not_o condemn_v humane_a wisdom_n but_o commend_v it_o as_o a_o thing_n profitable_a when_o it_o be_v right_o use_v as_o contain_v itself_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o worldly_a matter_n for_o when_o she_o meddle_v with_o heavenly_a &_o spiritual_a thing_n she_o be_v above_o her_o reach_n she_o do_v step_n out_o of_o her_o own_o shop_n though_o she_o be_v as_o a_o clear_a eye_n for_o this_o present_a world_n yet_o for_o heavenly_a thing_n she_o be_v stark_o blind_a and_o a_o very_a mad_a bedlam_n condemn_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n &_o spiritual_a 2._o mystery_n to_o be_v folly_n because_o they_o agree_v not_o with_o she_o let_v we_o also_o mark_v in_o this_o place_n that_o it_o be_v little_a marvel_n though_o the_o wise_a man_n of_o this_o world_n make_v wonderful_a account_n of_o their_o wisdom_n they_o take_v pleasure_n in_o the_o commodity_n which_o they_o reap_v thereby_o they_o laugh_v sly_o to_o see_v other_o in_o the_o brier_n and_o plague_v through_o their_o folly_n but_o this_o be_v above_o their_o skill_n and_o herein_o they_o err_v that_o when_o a_o man_n for_o to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n fall_v into_o danger_n &_o misery_n in_o this_o world_n they_o judge_v he_o a_o fool_n al_n their_o wisdom_n be_v to_o keep_v this_o world_n the_o loss_n of_o it_o they_o estéem_v madness_n it_o be_v far_o of_o from_o the_o wisdom_n of_o flesh_n &_o blood_n to_o teach_v a_o man_n to_o deny_v himself_o to_o renounce_v y_z e_o world_n and_o to_o take_v up_o his_o cross_n and_o this_o be_v the_o only_a way_n unto_o true_a blessedness_n for_o the_o son_n of_o god_n say_v that_o such_o as_o will_v be_v his_o disciple_n must_v do_v that_o math._n 16._o 16._o the_o great_a wise_a man_n of_o this_o world_n who_o wisdom_n do_v abound_v and_o overflow_v even_o as_o the_o water_n in_o the_o sea_n delight_v in_o the_o excellency_n of_o thing_n present_a do_v together_o with_o the_o foolish_a hate_n and_o persecute_v extreme_o christ_n true_a disciple_n for_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v enmity_n against_o god_n
foolish_a and_o noisome_a lust_n which_o drown_v man_n in_o destruction_n &_o perdition_n for_o the_o love_n of_o money_n be_v the_o root_n of_o all_o evil_a which_o while_o some_o have_v lust_v after_o they_o have_v err_v from_o the_o faith_n and_o have_v pierce_v themselves_o through_o with_o many_o sorrow_n i_o say_v if_o a_o man_n be_v thorough_o persuade_v in_o his_o hart_n that_o there_o be_v no_o profit_n of_o the_o travail_n under_o the_o sun_n he_o shall_v be_v free_a from_o this_o danger_n that_o all_o worldling_n be_v in_o let_v we_o see_v the_o proof_n one_o generation_n pass_v away_o and_o 4._o another_o generation_n come_v etc._n etc._n here_o we_o have_v the_o first_o reason_n by_o which_o he_o prove_v that_o a_o man_n have_v no_o profit_n of_o all_o his_o travail_n wherein_o he_o travail_v under_o the_o sun_n and_o you_o see_v it_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o estate_n which_o man_n be_v in_o he_o be_v mortal_a his_o day_n be_v few_o his_o continuance_n be_v short_a upon_o the_o earth_n for_o he_o have_v but_o the_o time_n of_o his_o generation_n he_o geve_v place_n and_o never_o return_v again_o but_o another_o generation_n succéede_v final_o his_o estate_n be_v more_o vain_a than_o the_o estate_n of_o other_o creature_n as_o it_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o comparison_n in_o the_o verse_n follow_v therefore_o there_o remain_v to_o he_o no_o profit_n of_o all_o his_o sore_a travail_n wherein_o he_o travail_v under_o the_o sun_n brethren_n we_o know_v it_o be_v in_o all_o man_n mouth_n we_o be_v mortal_a we_o must_v die_v there_o be_v no_o remedy_n we_o must_v make_v our_o bed_n and_o lie_v down_o in_o the_o dark_a we_o have_v but_o our_o time_n here_o again_o where_o shall_v we_o find_v that_o fool_n which_o look_v to_o have_v any_o portion_n after_o he_o be_v dead_a of_o all_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v wrought_v under_o the_o sun_n be_v there_o any_o which_o be_v persuade_v he_o shall_v come_v again_o to_o look_v upon_o his_o work_n to_o take_v pleasure_n in_o they_o do_v he_o think_v that_o his_o riches_n shall_v feed_v he_o or_o clothe_v he_o any_o more_o doubtless_o we_o all_o know_v we_o must_v tarry_v here_o but_o a_o time_n and_o then_o death_n will_v cut_v we_o off_o we_o be_v full_o persuade_v that_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v use_n of_o any_o thing_n which_o we_o possess_v here_o how_o do_v it_o then_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o clean_a contrary_n unto_o this_o their_o knowledge_n man_n set_v their_o heart_n upon_o this_o world_n and_o look_v for_o profit_n by_o their_o labour_n there_o be_v somewhat_o that_o do_v seduce_v man_n and_o quench_v the_o light_n of_o this_o knowledge_n or_o else_o how_o can_v it_o be_v thus_o in_o deed_n there_o be_v diverse_a thing_n which_o do_v seduce_v man_n and_o quench_v the_o light_n of_o this_o knowledge_n so_o that_o although_o they_o know_v they_o be_v mortal_a yet_o can_v they_o not_o see_v that_o this_o be_v a_o sufficient_a argument_n to_o prove_v that_o all_o their_o travail_n for_o earthly_a thing_n be_v to_o no_o profit_n but_o they_o set_v their_o heart_n upon_o they_o and_o covet_v they_o as_o gréedelie_o as_o if_o they_o shall_v live_v upon_o y_o e_o earth_n forever_o i_o will_v note_v unto_o you_o somewhat_o which_o do_v make_v man_n use_v even_o against_o their_o knowledge_n here_o be_v one_o great_a cause_n that_o such_o a_o thick_a dark_a mist_n do_v compass_v man_n round_o about_o that_o they_o can_v see_v a_o far_o of_o but_o even_o at_o â—and_n they_o be_v not_o able_a â—o_o behold_v eternity_n and_o to_o look_v but_o a_o moment_n and_o as_o nothing_o if_o we_o can_v well_o discern_v and_o judge_v aright_o and_o behold_v what_o account_n man_n make_v of_o threescore_o and_o ten_o they_o be_v even_o as_o a_o world_n unto_o he_o for_o these_o and_o about_o these_o for_o to_o maintain_v his_o estate_n in_o they_o he_o bend_v all_o the_o power_n of_o his_o mind_n appli_v all_o his_o study_n and_o indevoure_v labour_v toil_v and_o vex_v himself_o marueylous_o like_o a_o fool_n then_o we_o see_v that_o this_o natural_a spark_n of_o light_n whereby_o man_n do_v perceive_v they_o must_v after_o certain_a year_n die_v and_o depart_v from_o all_o their_o labour_n be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o make_v they_o wise_a nor_o deliver_v they_o because_o they_o be_v compass_v about_o with_o darkness_n most_o miserable_a which_o cause_v they_o to_o err_v and_o go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n as_o much_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o spark_n of_o knowledge_n at_o all_o in_o y_fw-fr e_fw-la mind_n it_o be_v far_o more_o easy_a and_o possible_a for_o a_o man_n to_o see_v clear_o twenty_o mile_n with_o his_o bodily_a eye_n through_o the_o thick_a mist_n then_o with_o all_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n to_o look_v beyond_o this_o world_n here_o come_v the_o great_a wise_a man_n of_o the_o world_n to_o be_v fool_n for_o with_o all_o the_o light_n of_o understanding_n which_o they_o have_v they_o â—e_v not_o able_a to_o look_v any_o further_a but_o upon_o â—he_n riches_n and_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n they_o â—an_v not_o be_v persuade_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v receive_v no_o profit_n of_o all_o his_o labour_n because_o he_o shall_v die_v it_o be_v not_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o their_o view_n to_o look_v upon_o thing_n eternal_a to_o value_n they_o and_o from_o they_o â—o_o descend_v to_o the_o thing_n present_a and_o by_o comparison_n to_o find_v that_o the_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n though_o it_o be_v for_o ten_o thousand_o year_n be_v utter_o vain_a and_o have_v no_o profit_n in_o it_o i_o say_v they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v this_o without_o special_a grace_n to_o meet_v with_o this_o and_o to_o recover_v man_n from_o such_o folly_n solomon_n use_v a_o comparison_n between_o man_n and_o other_o creature_n by_o which_o it_o appear_v that_o beside_o this_o that_o he_o be_v mortal_a his_o estate_n be_v the_o most_o vain_a and_o transitory_a of_o many_o other_o over_o the_o world_n cause_v they_o to_o drop_v down_o and_o to_o water_v the_o earth_n they_o drop_v down_o in_o great_a plenty_n part_n of_o they_o fleet_v into_o valley_n make_v a_o flood_n and_o with_o all_o speed_n run_v into_o the_o sea_n another_o part_n sink_v into_o the_o ground_n where_o they_o by_o little_a and_o little_a by_o drayn_v meet_v together_o and_o by_o hollow_a vein_n of_o the_o earth_n from_o hillâ—s_n and_o mountain_n break_v forth_o in_o spring_n and_o make_v river_n these_o also_o though_o a_o little_a stay_v after_o their_o fellow_n run_v into_o

do_v not_o fain_o and_o dissemble_v he_o be_v make_v a_o fool_n he_o must_v study_v with_o subtlety_n to_o repel_v subtlety_n and_o so_o fashion_v himself_o to_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o world_n alas_o be_v wisdom_n become_v so_o weak_a that_o she_o can_v defend_v herself_o against_o falsehood_n certain_o there_o be_v no_o false_a pack_v in_o the_o world_n but_o wisdom_n be_v able_a both_o to_o espy_v it_o and_o to_o encounter_v it_o make_v a_o difference_n therefore_o my_o brethren_n béetwixt_n these_o sort_n of_o man_n count_v not_o the_o wisdom_n of_o this_o world_n to_o be_v fraud_n and_o guile_n no_o it_o be_v simple_a and_o plain_a the_o other_o be_v but_o the_o abuse_n thereof_o thus_o far_o have_v we_o see_v what_o solomon_n find_v in_o pleasure_n and_o wisdom_n join_v together_o and_o in_o all_o his_o royal_a &_o magnifical_a work_n which_o serve_v for_o honour_n and_o delight_n there_o do_v remain_v the_o reason_n which_o he_o bring_v to_o prove_v that_o not_o notwithstanding_o the_o good_a that_o ensue_v from_o either_o yet_o all_o be_v vanity_n in_o both_o i_o will_v not_o now_o deal_v with_o they_o but_o if_o it_o please_v god_n the_o next_o time_n lay_v up_o i_o pray_v you_o brethren_n in_o your_o heart_n his_o doctrine_n here_o utter_v meditate_v alone_o by_o yourselves_o upon_o his_o glory_n riches_n and_o delight_n consider_v his_o great_a work_n and_o drink_v and_o delight_v his_o soul_n with_o the_o profit_n of_o his_o labour_n i_o see_v also_o this_o that_o this_o be_v of_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n 25_o for_o who_o can_v eat_v and_o who_o can_v haste_v unto_o outward_a thing_n more_o than_o i_o 26_o for_o to_o a_o man_n that_o be_v good_a in_o his_o sight_n god_n geve_v wisdom_n knowledge_n and_o joy_n but_o to_o the_o sinner_n he_o geve_v pain_n to_o gather_v and_o to_o heap_v up_o and_o to_o geve_v to_o he_o which_o be_v good_a before_o god_n this_o also_o be_v vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n ecclesiasy_n chap._n 2._o i_o know_v also_o etc._n etc._n in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o this_o chapter_n we_o have_v see_v how_o he_o search_v for_o good_a in_o pleasure_n and_o wisdom_n mix_v together_o and_o in_o all_o excellent_a and_o magnifical_a work_n which_o serve_v for_o either_o of_o they_o we_o have_v also_o hear_v what_o profit_n he_o find_v this_o way_n now_o come_v he_o to_o show_v by_o reason_n why_o
