cause_n of_o their_o ignorance_n that_o they_o cast_v spiritual_a thing_n in_o a_o carnal_a mould_n and_o will_v not_o believe_v that_o for_o which_o they_o see_v not_o probability_n in_o reason_n so_o do_v nicodemus_n take_v up_o regeneration_n and_o therefore_o judge_v it_o impossible_a can_v he_o enter_v the_o second_o time_n into_o his_o mother_n womb_n and_o be_v bear_v 5._o it_o ought_v and_o to_o a_o sensible_a soul_n will_n be_v matter_n of_o sad_a affliction_n when_o man_n find_v themselves_o in_o a_o condition_n give_v little_a or_o no_o hope_n of_o salvation_n for_o nicodemus_n his_o question_n import_v a_o great_a perplexity_n in_o he_o when_o his_o ignorance_n make_v he_o look_v on_o that_o as_o impossible_a which_o christ_n tell_v he_o be_v the_o only_a way_n to_o heaven_n and_o happiness_n 6._o whatever_o perplexity_n or_o ignorance_n man_n have_v it_o be_v good_a to_o bring_v it_o out_o to_o christ_n as_o the_o only_a remedy_n and_o way_n to_o help_v it_o for_o nicodemus_n go_v not_o away_o but_o lay_v out_o his_o case_n to_o christ_n ver._n 5._o jesus_n answer_v very_o very_o i_o say_v unto_o thou_o except_o a_o man_n be_v bear_v of_o water_n and_o instruction_n of_o other_o for_o albeit_o the_o one_o be_v pardon_v yet_o he_o not_o only_o suffer_v death_n but_o his_o leg_n be_v break_v 3._o christ_n our_o lord_n be_v not_o only_o nail_v to_o the_o cross_n but_o do_v real_o die_v and_o give_v up_o the_o ghost_n to_o satisfy_v divine_a justice_n for_o of_o this_o the_o soldier_n be_v witness_n who_o when_o they_o come_v to_o jesus_n they_o testify_v the_o great_a desert_n of_o our_o sin_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o needful_a evidence_n want_v which_o may_v make_v clear_a the_o truth_n of_o his_o death_n for_o but_o one_o of_o the_o water_n and_o blood_n come_v out_o at_o this_o wound_n it_o serve_v not_o only_o to_o confirm_v that_o he_o be_v real_o dead_a the_o spear_n pierce_v his_o heart_n and_o draw_v out_o the_o blood_n thereof_o and_o the_o water_n that_o be_v about_o his_o heart_n to_o refresh_v it_o but_o it_o may_v further_o point_v out_o that_o it_o be_v he_o who_o come_v by_o water_n and_o blood_n 1_o john_n
