tell_v moses_n and_o aaron_n that_o they_o believe_v he_o not_o vers_n 12_o undoubted_o because_o there_o be_v some_o secret_a distrust_n and_o unbelief_n in_o their_o heart_n though_o it_o prevail_v not_o so_o far_o against_o their_o faith_n as_o to_o make_v they_o whole_o refuse_v to_o do_v what_o god_n have_v enjoin_v they_o god_n that_o see_v the_o heart_n charge_v they_o with_o infidelity_n and_o therefore_o we_o may_v be_v
sure_o they_o be_v herein_o guilty_a and_o that_o happy_o upon_o this_o ground_n heretofore_o when_o the_o people_n murmur_v the_o lord_n for_o the_o most_o part_n show_v great_a indignation_n against_o they_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o destroy_v they_o but_o that_o moses_n by_o his_o prayer_n prevail_v with_o god_n to_o spare_v they_o moses_n therefore_o and_o aaron_n wonder_v that_o now_o the_o lord_n shall_v show_v no_o such_o displeasure_n but_o shall_v present_o send_v they_o to_o fetch_v water_n for_o they_o out_o of_o the_o rock_n they_o doubt_v whether_o god_n do_v serious_o intend_v this_o supply_n or_o do_v only_o command_v it_o by_o way_n of_o upbraid_v the_o people_n for_o forget_v what_o he_o have_v former_o do_v for_o they_o when_o they_o want_v water_n and_o so_o though_o they_o come_v to_o the_o rock_n ready_a to_o do_v what_o god_n have_v command_v yet_o they_o be_v perplex_v and_o in_o suspense_n betwixt_o hope_n and_o doubt_n question_v still_o within_o themselves_o what_o god_n will_v do_v and_o that_o it_o seem_v not_o so_o much_o out_o of_o any_o doubt_n of_o god_n power_n as_o out_o of_o a_o distrust_n that_o such_o a_o rebellious_a people_n be_v not_o capable_a of_o such_o a_o mercy_n from_o god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v this_o which_o moses_n stick_v at_o his_o word_n seem_v to_o testify_v vers_fw-la 10._o hear_v now_o you_o rebel_v must_v we_o fetch_v you_o water_n out_o of_o this_o rock_n but_o if_o the_o infidelity_n of_o their_o heart_n be_v all_o their_o sin_n why_o be_v it_o say_v also_o vers_fw-la 12._o that_o they_o do_v not_o sanctify_v he_o in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n i_o answer_v that_o they_o show_v their_o distrust_n outward_o also_o first_o by_o moses_n his_o strike_v the_o rock_n to_o which_o which_o happy_o he_o express_v also_o in_o many_o other_o word_n of_o discontent_n and_o anger_n which_o be_v not_o here_o set_v down_o for_o the_o psalmist_n say_v that_o they_o anger_v he_o at_o the_o water_n of_o strife_n and_o provoke_v his_o spirit_n so_o that_o he_o speak_v unadvised_o with_o his_o lip_n psal_n 100l_n 32._o 33._o which_o as_o in_o part_n no_o doubt_n it_o proceed_v from_o infidelity_n so_o it_o must_v needs_o much_o obscure_v the_o riches_n of_o god_n mercy_n who_o be_v ready_a to_o show_v such_o wonderful_a favour_n to_o such_o a_o rebellious_a people_n and_o argue_v a_o kind_n of_o unwillingness_n that_o god_n shall_v be_v honour_v by_o this_o miracle_n which_o he_o have_v determine_v to_o work_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o all_o the_o people_n verse_n 11._o and_o the_o water_n come_v out_o abundant_o and_o the_o congregation_n drink_v this_o be_v also_o spiritual_a drink_n flow_v from_o the_o rock_n christ_n 1._o cor._n 10._o 4._o and_o do_v all_o drink_n the_o same_o spiritual_a drink_n for_o they_o drink_v of_o that_o spiritual_a rock_n that_o follow_v they_o and_o that_o rock_n be_v christ_n be_v smite_v for_o our_o transgression_n esa_n 5._o 3_o 4._o by_o the_o rod_n of_o the_o law_n from_o he_o proceed_v that_o live_a water_n wherewith_o god_n israel_n may_v quench_v their_o thirst_n for_o ever_o but_o whosoever_o drink_v of_o the_o water_n that_o i_o shall_v give_v he_o shall_v never_o thirst_v but_o the_o water_n that_o i_o shall_v give_v he_o shall_v be_v in_o he_o a_o well_o of_o water_n spring_v up_o into_o everlasting_a life_n he_o that_o question_n the_o accomplishment_n of_o any_o mercy_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v his_o people_n do_v exceed_o dishonour_v he_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v chap._n 27._o 14._o
