apiece_o and_o 10_o to_o be_v of_o the_o four_o rate_n and_o to_o contain_v 900_o tun_n and_o carry_v 60_o gun_n apiece_o the_o say_v ship_n to_o be_v build_v and_o furnish_v with_o all_o convenient_a expedition_n and_o the_o whole_a number_n to_o be_v complete_a within_o 4_o year_n from_o the_o 25_o day_n of_o march_n 1691._o li._n and_o that_o the_o say_a sum_n of_o 570000_o l._n may_v be_v apply_v according_o and_o their_o majesty_n be_v enable_v to_o borrow_v upon_o the_o credit_n of_o this_o act_n any_o sum_n not_o exceed_v 1000000_o l._n for_o the_o use_v of_o the_o war_n be_v it_o particular_a account_n of_o the_o building_n and_o furnish_v the_o say_a ship_n liii_o out_o of_o the_o money_n so_o from_o time_n to_o time_n pay_v in_o one_o three_o part_n shall_v yearly_o be_v pay_v out_o towards_o the_o building_n and_o furnish_v the_o say_a ship_n and_o the_o commissioner_n of_o the_o treasury_n shall_v sign_v no_o warrant_n for_o issue_v out_o any_o part_n of_o the_o say_v three_o part_n to_o any_o but_o the_o treasurer_n of_o the_o navy_n or_o treasurer_n or_o paymaster_n of_o the_o ordnance_n express_v therein_o that_o the_o same_o be_v for_o building_n and_o furnish_v the_o say_v 27_o ship_n of_o war_n nor_o shall_v the_o auditor_n of_o the_o receipt_n draw_v any_o order_n for_o issue_v any_o part_n thereof_o otherwise_o then_o as_o aforesaid_a nor_o endorsement_n upon_o such_o order_n and_o such_o assignee_n may_v assign_v toties_fw-la quoties_fw-la lv._o the_o treasurer_n of_o the_o navy_n and_o treasurer_n or_o paymaster_n of_o the_o ordnance_n shall_v keep_v such_o money_n apart_o and_o issue_v the_o same_o by_o warrant_n from_o the_o principal_a officer_n and_o commissioner_n of_o the_o navy_n or_o ordnance_n respective_o or_o any_o three_o or_o more_o of_o they_o mention_v that_o it_o be_v for_o building_n and_o furnish_v the_o say_a ship_n nor_o shall_v the_o say_v principal_a officer_n and_o commissioner_n sign_v any_o warrant_n for_o pay_v any_o of_o the_o say_a money_n to_o any_o other_o use_v or_o purpose_n lvi_o any_o person_n may_v lend_v money_n upon_o the_o credit_n of_o two_o three_o part_n of_o the_o money_n to_o be_v bring_v in_o by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n not_o exceed_v 1000000_o l._n and_o have_v interest_n at_o the_o rate_n of_o 7_o l._n per_fw-la cent._n lvii_o and_o if_o the_o commissioner_n or_o governor_n of_o the_o excise_n refuse_v or_o neglect_v to_o pay_v in_o the_o say_a money_n as_o aforesaid_a or_o misapply_v any_o part_n thereof_o and_o if_o any_o officer_n belong_v to_o the_o exchequer_n navy_n or_o ordnance_n shall_v offend_v against_o any_o clause_n of_o this_o act_n or_o misapply_v any_o money_n contrary_a to_o the_o intent_n thereof_o they_o shall_v lose_v their_o place_n and_o be_v disable_v to_o execute_v any_o office_n or_o place_n of_o trust_n and_o shall_v pay_v the_o full_a value_n of_o any_o sum_n so_o misapply_v to_o any_o person_n who_o will_v sue_v for_o the_o same_o in_o any_o of_o their_o majesty_n court_n of_o record_n at_o westminster_n lviii_o and_o no_o stay_n of_o prosecution_n shall_v be_v admit_v by_o any_o court_n in_o any_o proceed_v for_o the_o recovery_n of_o any_o the_o penalty_n by_o this_o act_n inflict_v or_o for_o or_o in_o order_n to_o the_o conviction_n or_o disability_n of_o any_o person_n offend_v and_o victual_n for_o the_o navy_n and_o to_o the_o expense_n of_o the_o office_n of_o ordnance_n with_o respect_n to_o naval_a affair_n and_o to_o other_o necessary_a uses_n of_o the_o navy_n in_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a and_o out_o of_o all_o other_o money_n that_o shall_v be_v pay_v into_o the_o exchequer_n upon_o loan_n or_o otherwise_o by_o virtue_n of_o this_o or_o any_o other_o act_n of_o this_o session_n for_o grant_v aid_n or_o supply_n for_o reduce_v ireland_n or_o prosecute_a the_o war_n against_o france_n other_o then_o what_o be_v appropriate_v by_o this_o act_n and_o the_o appoint_v hereunto_o by_o the_o commissioner_n or_o the_o treasurer_n of_o the_o exchequer_n security_n officer_n to_o give_v security_n who_o shall_v take_v security_n of_o the_o officer_n for_o the_o due_a pay_v and_o account_v the_o money_n they_o shall_v receive_v and_o for_o the_o faithful_a performance_n of_o their_o office_n and_o the_o money_n which_o shall_v be_v bring_v into_o the_o receipt_n of_o the_o exchequer_n shall_v by_o the_o commissioner_n of_o the_o treasury_n or_o the_o under-treasurer_n of_o the_o exchequer_n without_o any_o far_a or_o other_o warrant_n and_o such_o proportion_n from_o time_n to_o time_n inspect_v monies_n how_o to_o be_v issue_v officer_n to_o be_v liable_a to_o account_v and_o be_v inspect_v as_o shall_v be_v necessary_a and_o sufficient_a to_o answer_v the_o respective_a payment_n which_o shall_v grow_v due_a be_v issue_v or_o pay_v over_o from_o time_n to_o time_n to_o the_o officer_n by_o way_n of_o impress_v and_o upon_o account_n to_o direction_n all_o officer_n to_o observe_v the_o commissioner_n direction_n the_o manager_n director_n commissioner_n and_o officer_n of_o the_o transfer_v office_n receiver_n and_o the_o particular_a officer_n in_o the_o exchequer_n and_o all_o the_o clerk_n minister_n and_o servant_n shall_v for_o the_o better_a execution_n of_o their_o trust_n observe_v and_o perform_v such_o rule_n method_n and_o order_n as_o they_o shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n receive_v from_o the_o commissioner_n of_o the_o treasury_n etc._n etc._n so_o as_o such_o rule_n method_n and_o order_n be_v conducible_a africa_n without_o the_o strait_n 20_o s._n from_o hudsons_n bay_n or_o any_o place_n within_o the_o limit_n of_o that_o company_n charter_n 20_o s._n from_o the_o

or_o pay_v any_o such_o sum_n as_o aforesaid_a nominate_v within_o what_o time_n to_o be_v nominate_v the_o same_o to_o be_v nominate_v within_o six_o day_n after_o payment_n of_o such_o sum_n which_o yearly_a annuity_n rent_n or_o payment_n shall_v commence_v from_o the_o 24_o of_o june_n next_o ensue_v and_o shall_v be_v pay_v and_o payable_a at_o the_o four_o most_o usual_a feast_n of_o the_o year_n viz._n the_o annunciation_n of_o the_o bless_a virgin_n mary_n the_o nativity_n of_o st._n john_n baptist_n the_o feast_n of_o st._n michael_n the_o archangel_n and_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o birth_n of_o our_o lord_n christ_n and_o every_o person_n on_o payment_n of_o such_o sum_n or_o sum_n as_o aforesaid_a revoke_v tally_n to_o be_v give_v on_o receipt_n of_o the_o money_n and_o order_n thereon_o which_o may_v be_v transfer_v or_o assign_v and_o not_o to_o be_v revoke_v shall_v immediate_o have_v one_o or_o more_o tally_n or_o tally_n import_v the_o receipt_n of_o the_o consideration_n money_n and_o order_n for_o the_o payment_n of_o the_o say_a annuity_n bear_v the_o same_o date_n with_o the_o tally_n the_o say_a tally_n to_o be_v levy_v and_o the_o say_a order_n to_o be_v sign_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n as_o in_o the_o say_a act_n be_v mention_v touch_v tally_n and_o order_n to_o be_v give_v to_o the_o contributor_n for_o
say_a commissioner_n shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n if_o require_v and_o at_o the_o end_n of_o their_o proceed_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n give_v a_o account_n thereof_o in_o writing_n under_o five_o or_o more_o of_o their_o hand_n and_o seal_n to_o the_o king_n and_o queen_n and_o both_o house_n of_o parliament_n at_o their_o next_o meeting_n vii_o all_o accountant_n shall_v make_v their_o account_n in_o the_o exchequer_n as_o former_o this_o act_n notwithstanding_o viii_o the_o power_n hereby_o grant_v shall_v endure_v for_o one_o year_n from_o the_o 25_o day_n of_o january_n as_o the_o number_n of_o share_n be_v now_o reckon_v there_o shall_v be_v pay_v to_o their_o majesty_n the_o sum_n of_o 20_o s._n by_o the_o governor_n and_o treasurer_n of_o that_o company_n by_o four_o quarterly_o payment_n the_o first_o to_o be_v make_v on_o the_o say_v 25_o of_o march_n 1693._o and_o to_o be_v deduct_v as_o aforesaid_a clxiv_o and_o for_o every_o share_n in_o the_o joint-stock_n of_o the_o hudson_n bay_a company_n as_o the_o number_n of_o share_n be_v now_o reckon_v there_o shall_v be_v pay_v the_o sum_n of_o 5_o l._n by_o the_o governor_n and_o treasurer_n of_o that_o company_n ut_fw-la supra_fw-la and_o for_o default_n of_o payment_n at_o the_o day_n and_o time_n aforesaid_a the_o charter_n of_o such_o company_n respective_o shall_v be_v void_a clxv_o from_o and_o after_o the_o six_o day_n of_o april_n 1693._o none_o shall_v be_v admit_v to_o swear_v to_o a_o debanture_n for_o any_o duty_n to_o be_v draw_v back_o upon_o re-exportation_a but_o he_o any_o person_n after_o that_o day_n and_o before_o the_o 29_o of_o september_n next_o follow_v may_v advance_v any_o sum_n not_o exceed_v in_o the_o whole_a with_o what_o shall_v have_v be_v advance_v before_o the_o say_v one_a day_n of_o may_n the_o sum_n of_o 1000000_o l._n upon_o the_o term_n follow_v viz._n that_o every_o such_o person_n out_o of_o the_o duty_n arise_v by_o this_o act_n shall_v have_v for_o every_o 100_o l._n a_o yearly_a annuity_n of_o 14_o l._n for_o his_o own_o or_o any_o other_o life_n to_o be_v by_o he_o nominate_v as_o aforesaid_a within_o 6_o day_n after_o payment_n which_o annuity_n shall_v commence_v from_o the_o 29_o of_o september_n 1693._o and_o be_v pay_v at_o the_o four_o most_o usual_a feast_n in_o the_o year_n and_o upon_o payment_n of_o any_o such_o sum_n the_o person_n pay_v the_o same_o shall_v have_v one_o or_o more_o tally_n import_v the_o receipt_n thereof_o and_o order_n for_o payment_n etc._n etc._n to_o be_v sign_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o not_o to_o be_v revocable_a and_o to_o be_v assignable_a and_o the_o money_n arise_v by_o the_o duty_n hereby_o grant_v beside_o so_o much_o as_o shall_v bear_v proportion_n as_o aforesaid_a to_o the_o sum_n which_o shall_v be_v advance_v before_o the_o one_a day_n of_o may_n 1693._o shall_v be_v appropriate_v to_o the_o payment_n of_o the_o say_a annuity_n and_o not_o be_v divert_v under_o the_o like_a penalty_n as_o be_v before_o appoint_v in_o case_n of_o misapply_v etc._n etc._n the_o say_v officer_n shall_v keep_v book_n and_o make_v entry_n of_o their_o name_n who_o shall_v advance_v money_n after_o the_o say_v one_a day_n of_o may_n and_o of_o the_o sum_v advance_v and_o the_o time_n of_o pay_v in_o and_o the_o name_n of_o the_o nominees_n without_o reward_n to_o which_o book_n all_o person_n concern_v shall_v have_v access_n under_o the_o penalty_n and_o disability_n aforesaid_a and_o they_o that_o shall_v advance_v any_o sum_n after_o the_o say_v one_a of_o may_n shall_v have_v interest_n for_o it_o till_o the_o 29_o of_o septem_n 1693._o at_o the_o rate_n of_o 10_o l._n per_fw-la cent._n lxxxviii_o if_o any_o contributor_n who_o shall_v have_v advance_v any_o sum_n before_o the_o say_v one_a of_o may_n shall_v before_o the_o say_v 29_o of_o september_n be_v desirous_a in_o lieu_n of_o his_o share_n in_o the_o fond_n to_o have_v a_o annuity_n of_o purpose_n to_o be_v keep_v in_o the_o receipt_n and_o the_o say_a entry_n be_v sign_v by_o such_o contributor_n he_o shall_v receive_v such_o annuity_n as_o if_o the_o money_n by_o he_o advance_v have_v be_v pay_v in_o after_o the_o one_a day_n of_o may_n and_o such_o contributor_n share_v in_o the_o fond_n shall_v determine_v for_o their_o majesty_n benefit_n lxxxix_o the_o surplus_n of_o any_o money_n arise_v by_o this_o act_n after_o the_o several_a proportion_n of_o the_o fond_n and_o the_o annuity_n and_o interest_n pay_v shall_v be_v to_o the_o use_v of_o their_o majesty_n xc_o no_o money_n lend_v or_o payable_a by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v charge_v with_o any_o imposition_n whatsoever_o xci_o grant_n or_o disposition_n of_o any_o money_n arise_v by_o this_o act_n to_o be_v make_v by_o their_o majesty_n their_o heir_n etc._n etc._n otherwise_o then_o by_o this_o act_n be_v appoint_v shall_v be_v null_a and_o void_a fraud_n i._o stat._n 3_o &_o 4_o w._n &_o m._n cap._n 14._o all_o will_n concern_v land_n or_o any_o rent_n profit_n term_n or_o charge_v out_o of_o the_o same_o whereof_o the_o devisor_n shall_v be_v seize_v in_o fee-simple_n in_o possession_n reversion_n or_o remainder_n or_o have_v power_n to_o dispose_v thereof_o after_o the_o 25_o day_n of_o march_n 1692._o shall_v be_v deem_v only_o as_o against_o creditor_n upon_o bond_n thereof_o without_o any_o respect_n have_v to_o the_o present_a rent_n reserve_v for_o the_o same_o if_o such_o rent_n have_v be_v reserve_v upon_o such_o lease_n or_o estate_n make_v for_o which_o any_o fine_a or_o income_n have_v be_v pay_v or_o secure_v or_o have_v be_v lessen_v or_o abate_v upon_o consideration_n of_o money_n lay_v out_o or_o to_o be_v lay_v out_o in_o improvement_n and_o without_o any_o respect_n have_v to_o any_o former_a rate_n or_o tax_n thereupon_o impose_v or_o make_v any_o abatement_n in_o respect_n of_o reparation_n tax_n parish-duty_n or_o any_o other_o appear_v before_o they_o and_o to_o bring_v in_o their_o certificate_n in_o write_v of_o the_o name_n and_o surname_n of_o every_o person_n dwell_v within_o the_o limit_n of_o those_o place_n with_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v charge_v and_o of_o the_o value_n of_o every_o of_o they_o in_o ready_a money_n debt_n good_n chattel_n or_o other_o personal_a estate_n except_o before_o except_v or_o in_o public_a office_n or_o employment_n and_o the_o same_o assessor_n be_v also_o hereby_o require_v to_o inform_v themselves_o by_o all_o lawful_a way_n of_o the_o full_a yearly_a value_n of_o all_o duty_n and_o if_o any_o of_o the_o assessor_n as_o aforesaid_a appoint_v refuse_v to_o serve_v or_o make_v default_n at_o the_o time_n appoint_v for_o his_o appearance_n not_o have_v a_o lawful_a such_o penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n as_o in_o the_o act_v make_v in_o the_o 12_o year_n of_o king_n charles_n ii_o and_o the_o 15_o of_o the_o same_o king_n be_v mention_v or_o by_o another_o law_n from_o time_n to_o time_n arise_v or_o be_v pay_v into_o the_o say_a office_n of_o excise_n or_o unto_o the_o receiver-general_n of_o the_o custom_n and_o the_o comptroller_n of_o the_o excise_n and_o of_o the_o custom_n or_o their_o respective_a deputy_n shall_v keep_v a_o distinct_a account_n in_o book_n fair_o write_v of_o all_o those_o rate_n and_o duty_n to_o which_o all_o person_n shall_v have_v free_a access_n at_o all_o reasonable_a time_n gratis_o pay-day_n holiday_n not_o pay-day_n and_o the_o commissioner_n of_o the_o excise_n and_o custom_n be_v to_o pay_v weekly_o upon_o every_o london_n or_o within_o ten_o mile_n the_o head-office_n of_o excise_n now_o in_o london_n shall_v be_v continue_v there_o for_o ever_o or_o within_o ten_o mile_n thereof_o and_o likewise_o for_o ever_o shall_v be_v continue_v there_o or_o within_o the_o same_o distance_n a_o comptroller_n of_o the_o excise_n the_o commissioner_n of_o excise_n and_o comptroller_n to_o be_v appoint_v by_o their_o majesty_n their_o heir_n and_o successor_n x._o fond._n what_o shall_v be_v the_o yearly_a fond._n that_o yearly_a and_o every_o year_n reckon_v the_o first_o year_n to_o begin_v from_o the_o one_a of_o june_n 1694._o the_o full_a sum_n of_o 140000_o l._n out_o of_o these_o money_n by_o the_o say_a duty_n of_o tonnage_n and_o excise_n and_o to_o be_v bring_v into_o the_o receipt_n of_o say_a duty_n of_o tonnage_n and_o excise_n to_o discharge_v and_o satisfy_v the_o annuity_n and_o other_o benefit_n and_o advantage_n by_o this_o act_n appoint_v or_o intend_v to_o be_v pay_v within_o any_o one_o year_n to_o be_v reckon_v as_o aforesaid_a or_o if_o they_o shall_v not_o amount_v in_o their_o weekly_a payment_n to_o so_o much_o as_o 140000_o l._n within_o such_o time_n than_o the_o deficiency_n shall_v be_v make_v good_a out_o of_o any_o treasure_n or_o revenue_n belong_v to_o their_o majesty_n their_o heir_n or_o successor_n not_o be_v appropriate_v to_o any_o particular_a prepare_v any_o wash_n from_o molossus_n or_o other_o material_n from_o any_o other_o person_n until_o he_o have_v draw_v off_o and_o distil_v all_o the_o liquor_n make_v or_o prepare_v from_o corn_n as_o aforesaid_a on_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o barrel_n of_o such_o liquor_n make_v of_o corn_n find_v undistil_v 5_o l._n xxxvii_o if_o any_o gauger_n or_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o excise_n shall_v witting_o make_v a_o false_a charge_n by_o return_v any_o quantity_n of_o low-wine_n not_o make_v from_o malted_a corn_n as_o make_v from_o malted_a corn_n he_o shall_v lose_v his_o employment_n and_o forfeit_v for_o every_o gallon_n so_o false_o charge_v 10_o s._n xxxviii_o distiller_n and_o other_o upon_o oath_n make_v before_o two_o commissioner_n of_o excise_n or_o justice_n same_o be_v enter_v and_o pay_v and_o that_o the_o same_o be_v export_v for_o merchandise_n may_v export_v such_o spirit_n or_o brandy_n and_o upon_o a_o certificate_n from_o the_o officer_n of_o excise_n for_o the_o place_n where_o they_o be_v ship_v off_o of_o the_o quantity_n and_o the_o same_o be_v ship_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o such_o officer_n such_o exporter_n shall_v be_v pay_v by_o the_o commissioner_n for_o such_o port_n or_o place_n 3_o d._n for_o every_o gallon_n ship_v off_o thirty-nine_o the_o gauger_n shall_v take_v a_o account_n of_o all_o wash_n and_o other_o material_n prepare_v for_o make_v low-wine_n and_o of_o all_o low-wine_n spirit_n and_o strong-water_n find_v in_o the_o house_n etc._n etc._n or_o in_o any_o wash-back_a cask_n or_o other_o vessel_n use_v by_o any_o maker_n of_o low-wine_n or_o spirit_n and_o if_o they_o miss_v any_o liquor_n brew_v which_o they_o sound_v gage_v the_o last_o time_n they_o be_v there_o not_o exceed_v 24_o hour_n before_o
