virtue_n and_o as_o the_o stone-cutter_n shall_v do_v nothing_o to_o any_o purpose_n unless_o he_o have_v his_o mallet_n so_o also_o the_o lover_n of_o virtue_n without_o this_o fortitude_n shall_v sweat_v in_o vain_a difficult_a tell_v i_o what_o instance_n of_o any_o virtue_n can_v thou_o give_v which_o have_v not_o some_o particular_a difficulty_n join_v unto_o it_o consider_v of_o they_o several_o if_o it_o please_v thou_o look_v into_o prayer_n fast_v obedience_n temperance_n poorness_n of_o spirit_n patience_n chastity_n and_o humility_n these_o and_o all_o other_o be_v always_o join_v with_o some_o difficulty_n which_o come_v either_o through_o our_o own_o self-love_n or_o the_o malice_n of_o the_o devil_n or_o the_o crosnes_n and_o repugnacy_n of_o the_o world_n wherefore_o if_o thou_o take_v away_o this_o fortitude_n what_o can_v naked_a and_o unarmed_a virtue_n do_v and_o therefore_o all_o other_o virtue_n do_v seem_v as_o it_o be_v bind_v hand_n and_o foot_n neither_o it_o confirm_v the_o part_n irascible_a lest_o it_o be_v slow_a &_o too_o sluggish_a to_o work_v well_o moreover_o because_o all_o our_o natural_a passion_n which_o be_v find_v in_o these_o two_o inferior_a power_n of_o our_o appetite_n be_v as_o it_o be_v stepdame_n unto_o virtue_n &_o door_n whereby_o devil_n oftentimes_o enter_v into_o our_o soul_n it_o have_v appoint_v as_o it_o be_v foresaid_a that_o be_v that_o grace_n make_v god_n to_o dwell_v in_o our_o soul_n that_o dwell_v in_o it_o he_o may_v govern_v it_o defend_v it_o direct_v it_o in_o the_o heavenly_a way_n god_n therefore_o sit_v in_o our_o soul_n as_o a_o king_n in_o his_o kingdom_n as_o a_o captain_n among_o his_o army_n as_o a_o master_n in_o his_o school_n and_o as_o a_o pastor_n among_o his_o flock_n
