true_a for_o incline_v and_o be_v assist_v by_o nature_n they_o have_v the_o great_a force_n happy_o to_o obtain_v they_o and_o therefore_o aristotle_n say_v that_o man_n be_v good_a by_o the_o gift_n of_o nature_n rep._n by_o the_o virtue_n of_o reason_n and_o by_o custom_n a._n but_o how_o can_v this_o stand_v good_a all_o man_n be_v endue_v by_o nature_n with_o the_o selfsame_o mass_n or_o lump_n and_o the_o selfsame_o faculty_n e._n all_o stone_n tree_n and_o live_a creature_n be_v of_o the_o selfsame_o matter_n by_o their_o kind_n and_o yet_o because_o they_o be_v different_a in_o temperature_n they_o have_v diverse_a leaf_n sundry_a flower_n different_a fruit_n and_o particular_a virtue_n no_o otherwise_o man_n through_o the_o diversity_n of_o temperature_n and_o bodily_a constitution_n some_o be_v addict_v more_o to_o virtue_n and_o some_o to_o vice_n and_o hereupon_o we_o see_v some_o that_o be_v more_o devour_v other_o more_o bloody_a and_o some_o more_o luxurious_a with_o other_o such_o like_a quality_n on_o the_o contrary_a other_o more_o incline_v to_o justice_n temperance_n fortitude_n courtesy_n good_a custom_n and_o other_o laudable_a action_n a_o of_o the_o selfsame_o opinion_n be_o i_o but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o this_o our_o temperature_n and_o all_o our_o gift_n may_v by_o the_o liberty_n to_o will_v what_o we_o will_v be_v employ_v to_o diverse_a end_n and_o by_o they_o we_o may_v be_v excite_v to_o operate_v e._n you_o say_v true_a and_o therefore_o to_o our_o purpose_n provide_v if_o i_o do_v not_o err_v in_o my_o observation_n and_o judgement_n i_o remember_v that_o in_o my_o travail_n i_o have_v observe_v some_o that_o be_v well_o accustom_v well_o nurture_v and_o civil_a and_o as_o it_o be_v complete_a in_o their_o politician_n action_n through_o their_o natural_a courtesy_n some_o out_o of_o religion_n some_o for_o pomp_n some_o affection_n some_o because_o they_o have_v be_v so_o educate_v some_o for_o idleness_n some_o to_o get_v credit_n and_o praise_n other_o to_o be_v repute_v of_o and_o make_v themselves_o know_v many_o time_n for_o ambition_n of_o honour_n and_o reverence_n and_o final_o other_o to_o purchase_v friend_n a._n but_o how_o do_v you_o mean_v by_o native_a courtesy_n e._n why_o as_o we_o read_v in_o the_o life_n of_o the_o emperor_n and_o the_o history_n of_o other_o excellent_a and_o rare_a man_n many_o of_o they_o have_v be_v tractable_a by_o nature_n amiable_a and_o civil_a which_o we_o may_v also_o perceive_v in_o many_o young_a boy_n and_o girl_n the_o which_o peradventure_o come_v to_o pass_v because_o they_o be_v of_o a_o more_o purify_a spirit_n a._n i_o do_v not_o take_v this_o reason_n to_o be_v altogether_o from_o the_o purpose_n for_o the_o heart_n be_v to_o be_v nourish_v with_o blood_n first_o it_o be_v rarify_v in_o the_o right_a ventricle_n and_o be_v make_v liquid_a then_o do_v it_o dimane_a to_o the_o hole_n in_o the_o midst_n where_o it_o seethe_v distil_v digest_v and_o purify_v then_o like_o a_o excellent_a alchemist_n pass_v it_o over_o to_o the_o left_a ventricle_n pure_a as_o it_o be_v before_o it_o be_v now_o sublimate_v and_o convert_v into_o spirit_n the_o which_o certain_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o clear_a subtle_a and_o pure_a than_o any_o body_n that_o the_o element_n can_v compose_v from_o whence_o according_a to_o some_o man_n opinion_n reason_n do_v spring_n the_o which_o have_v the_o great_a light_n the_o more_o excellent_a and_o purify_v that_o the_o above_o name_v blood_n be_v which_o be_v presume_v to_o be_v very_o well_o refine_v and_o perfect_a by_o the_o forementioned_a civil_a and_o courteous_a nature_n e_o who_o do_v you_o judge_v to_o be_v well_o nurture_v by_o religion_n a._n by_o observation_n as_o former_o i_o say_v of_o divine_a precept_n for_o they_o behold_v the_o creator_n in_o the_o creature_n can_v but_o love_n honour_n respect_n and_o be_v transform_v into_o he_o as_o a_o faithful_a and_o diligent_a servant_n do_v in_o keep_v with_o all_o diligence_n and_o affection_n his_o master_n clothes_n whereas_o on_o the_o contrary_a the_o negligent_a and_o careless_a person_n when_o his_o master_n back_n be_v but_o turn_v he_o do_v not_o only_o neglect_v contemn_v and_o tread_v they_o under_o his_o foot_n but_o if_o by_o any_o deceit_n he_o can_v he_o most_o willing_o pilfer_v and_o steal_v they_o e._n but_o how_o do_v you_o take_v one_o to_o be_v well_o accustom_v for_o pomp_n a._n do_v you_o not_o know_v how_o pass_v through_o the_o world_n visit_n the_o court_n of_o europe_n behold_v prince_n attend_v the_o person_n observe_v great_a lord_n and_o they_o will_v well_o instruct_v you_o herein_o e._n ah_o i_o understand_v you_o well_o now_o how_o mean_v you_o for_o affection_n a._n this_o may_v happen_v from_o benefit_n foresee_v which_o they_o do_v hope_v after_o and_o such_o like_a mean_n or_o through_o long_a amity_n and_o many_o time_n by_o reason_n of_o natural_a sympathy_n e._n how_o shall_v it_o proceed_v from_o have_v be_v educate_v in_o that_o a_o bad_a nature_n can_v hardly_o be_v reform_v a._n the_o life_n of_o a_o man_n in_o political_a thing_n be_v like_o the_o greek_a vpsilon_n because_o before_o he_o be_v capable_a of_o reason_n he_o can_v neither_o do_v merit_n nor_o demerit_v any_o thing_n but_o when_o he_o come_v once_o to_o the_o use_n of_o reason_n he_o may_v be_v employ_v on_o the_o right_a hand_n or_o on_o the_o left_a as_o well_o for_o the_o begin_n of_o good_a as_o evil_a be_v in_o our_o own_o power_n if_o a_o man_n will_v begin_v from_o his_o childhood_n to_o be_v addict_v to_o the_o virtue_n and_o to_o be_v virtuous_a his_o judgement_n will_v not_o be_v so_o corrupt_v which_o be_v our_o own_o fault_n he_o that_o do_v evil_a deserve_v neither_o pardon_n nor_o excuse_n e._n but_o then_o for_o idleness_n how_o a._n because_o there_o be_v many_o portraiture_n of_o idleness_n whole_o deprive_v of_o the_o exercise_n of_o any_o virtue_n who_o property_n be_v to_o act_v and_o operate_v such_o as_o thessal●a_n answer_v be_v most_o civil_a who_o partly_o employ_v all_o their_o whole_a study_n like_o nightingale_n to_o please_v woman_n who_o be_v special_o feed_v with_o this_o and_o partly_o to_o bait_v the_o eye_n and_o wit_n of_o every_o one_o to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v behold_v and_o admire_v nothing_o but_o themselves_o as_o the_o only_a variety_n of_o this_o world_n and_o as_o for_o the_o rest_n of_o their_o time_n they_o do_v pass_v it_o over_o with_o a_o delicate_a savour_n of_o ceremony_n and_o compliment_n wherewith_o they_o be_v nourish_v and_o whereof_o they_o do_v glory_n as_o of_o one_o of_o the_o renown_a thing_n in_o rome_n triumphant_a e._n and_o how_o to_o obtain_v credit_n and_o praise_v a._n because_o they_o use_v civil_a politic_a and_o excellent_a custom_n towards_o man_n they_o may_v obtain_v the_o name_n and_o fame_n to_o be_v more_o politic_a civil_a and_o a_o more_o complete_a gentleman_n than_o any_o other_o it_o be_v in_o every_o state_n at_o this_o day_n suppose_v that_o perfection_n consist_v in_o a_o formal_a externitie_n e._n how_o understand_v you_o to_o be_v well_o repute_v of_o a._n why_o to_o be_v a_o man_n of_o judgement_n which_o can_v apply_v himself_o to_o all_o man_n humour_n converse_v with_o all_o give_v satisfaction_n to_o every_o one_o conformable_a to_o their_o degree_n to_o temporize_v upon_o any_o occasion_n or_o matter_n whatsoever_o and_o with_o a_o subtle_a pierce_a and_o out-reaching_a humane_a wisdom_n to_o get_v the_o report_n of_o be_v a_o very_a treasurer_n of_o sapience_n and_o consequent_o worthy_a of_o all_o high_a management_n and_o to_o deserve_v any_o pre-eminence_n dignity_n or_o degree_n whatsoever_o so_o as_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a like_o another_o cesaer_n not_o in_o action_n but_o in_o show_n and_o presumption_n to_o adorn_v himself_o with_o the_o title_n of_o a_o perpetual_a dictator_n e._n excuse_v i_o sir_n for_o i_o take_v this_o to_o be_v the_o very_a quintessence_n of_o all_o worldly_a imposture_n a._n who_o doubt_v thereof_o for_o thus_o dazel_v the_o eye_n of_o owl_n they_o oftentimes_o surmount_v all_o other_o in_o honour_n among_o man_n who_o be_v nourish_v with_o deceit_n but_o so_o it_o many_o time_n fall_v out_o that_o they_o enter_v like_o fox_n reign_v like_o wolf_n and_o depart_v like_o dog_n and_o yet_o howsoever_o it_o can_v be_v deny_v that_o these_o man_n have_v sometime_o a_o favourable_a nature_n and_o composition_n e._n how_o shall_v we_o understand_v your_o of_o give_v to_o understand_v or_o make_v themselves_o appear_v a._n why_o this_o be_v to_o deceive_v as_o to_o dissemble_v anger_n hatred_n or_o desire_v of_o revenge_n with_o the_o appearance_n of_o a_o thousand_o external_a show_n of_o courtesy_n and_o hypocritical_a civility_n in_o gesture_n and_o word_n by_o
issue_v forth_o and_o because_o the_o separation_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o sensible_a thing_n to_o be_v total_o unite_v to_o those_o intelligible_a may_v be_v decipher_v in_o a_o kiss_n hereupon_o solomon_n say_v kiss_v i_o with_o the_o kiss_n of_o thy_o mouth_n to_o note_v the_o intensive_a desire_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v ravish_v out_o of_o divine_a love_n to_o contemplation_n of_o celestial_a beauty_n so_o as_o it_o be_v in_o this_o sort_n inward_o unite_v thereunto_o it_o do_v in_o a_o manner_n abandon_v the_o body_n e._n if_o either_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o be_v endue_v with_o grace_n and_o replenish_v with_o such_o a_o spirit_n a_o kiss_n can_v be_v no_o less_o then_o commend_v the_o which_o notwithstanding_o as_o i_o be_o persuade_v shall_v not_o only_o not_o be_v belove_v but_o further_a utter_o abhor_v for_o where_o the_o spirit_n reign_v it_o unite_v not_o itself_o but_o rather_o fly_v from_o sense_n as_o from_o his_o proper_a enemy_n a._n why_o a_o kiss_n be_v natural_a and_o therefore_o if_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v commend_v neither_o deserve_v it_o blame_v e._n natural_a thing_n be_v as_o it_o be_v infinite_a which_o not_o be_v well_o govern_v turn_v to_o express_v vice_n and_o especial_o those_o which_o immediate_o be_v unite_v unto_o sense_n which_o be_v more_o frail_a than_o any_o other_o thing_n it_o the_o more_o easy_o remain_v corrupt_v and_o vanquish_v and_o therefore_o the_o further_a off_o it_o be_v keep_v the_o more_o near_o and_o pure_a it_o be_v perserue_v and_o give_v great_a notice_n of_o secret_a virtue_n and_o trial_n of_o commendable_a honesty_n a._n why_o our_o saviour_n christ_n converse_v among_o woman_n e._n true_a it_o be_v but_o he_o kiss_v not_o woman_n and_o his_o conversation_n be_v only_o necessary_a and_o therefore_o he_o be_v see_v to_o talk_v with_o the_o samaritan_n the_o text_n say_v discipuli_fw-la admirabantur_fw-la quod_fw-la cum_fw-la muliere_fw-la loqueretur_fw-la they_o wonder_v that_o he_o will_v talk_v with_o a_o woman_n a._n christ_n rise_v first_o appear_v to_o a_o woman_n e._n woman_n first_o know_v sin_n and_o so_o first_o also_o the_o justifier_n and_o redeemer_n of_o sin_n and_o yet_o christ_n say_v unto_o she_o touch_v i_o not_o a._n and_o yet_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o feminine_a sex_n be_v very_o courteous_a and_o humane_a and_o therefore_o in_o all_o reason_n woman_n must_v be_v courteous_o and_o kind_o use_v e._n nay_o but_o rather_o they_o be_v a_o very_a corrupt_a matter_n we_o must_v fly_v far_o from_o they_o for_o fear_n of_o be_v likewise_o corrupt_v ourselves_o wherefore_o s._n augustine_n say_v brevis_fw-la et_fw-la rigidus_fw-la sermo_fw-la cum_fw-la mulieribus_fw-la habendus_fw-la est_fw-la nec_fw-la minus_fw-la sunt_fw-la cavendae_fw-la quia_fw-la magis_fw-la sunt_fw-la divotae_fw-la we_o shall_v use_v brief_a and_o austere_a conference_n with_o woman_n and_o no_o whit_n the_o less_o avoid_v they_o when_o they_o seem_v or_o appear_v most_o devout_a and_o yet_o i_o no_o way_n mean_v this_o of_o the_o honourable_a sort_n who_o through_o their_o liberty_n and_o urbanitie_n shine_v the_o more_o bright_o a._n but_o a_o man_n be_v as_o much_o oblige_v to_o law_n divine_a as_o a_o woman_n in_o this_o respect_n i_o think_v italian_n keep_v their_o wife_n with_o so_o great_a care_n circumspection_n and_o jealousy_n and_o themselves_o have_v their_o neck_n altogether_o free_a from_o this_o yoke_n it_o be_v a_o thing_n altogether_o repugnant_a to_o reason_n especial_o when_o every_o one_o know_v as_o in_o the_o transgression_n from_o justice_n and_o equity_n so_o in_o adultery_n man_n likewise_o incur_v infamy_n a._n no_o doubt_n but_o a_o man_n be_v bind_v he_o break_v the_o oath_n of_o matrimony_n as_o often_o as_o he_o compani_v with_o a_o free_a woman_n but_o though_o he_o deserve_v blame_v for_o the_o same_o yet_o lose_v he_o no_o honour_n herein_o in_o that_o he_o injury_n none_o but_o his_o own_o wife_n but_o if_o be_v free_a or_o marry_v he_o know_v in_o this_o sense_n a_o marry_a woman_n he_o remain_v dishonour_v in_o that_o he_o sin_n extreme_o against_o the_o virtue_n of_o temperance_n &_o fail_v also_o wonderful_o in_o justice_n in_o that_o he_o injury_n another_o honour_n a_o thing_n more_o precious_a than_o any_o other_o outward_a good_a and_o hereupon_o by_o civil_a and_o municipal_a law_n of_o wel-governed_n city_n there_o be_v a_o great_a punishment_n impose_v on_o adultery_n then_o on_o theft_n because_o the_o one_o do_v but_o prejudice_n in_o inferior_a good_n &_o the_o other_o impair_v honour_n which_o be_v a_o great_a good_a e._n and_o yet_o now_o i_o think_v over_o all_o europe_n this_o adultery_n term_v by_o you_o so_o infamous_a by_o common_a use_n have_v purchase_v a_o honourable_a title_n &_o man_n be_v not_o only_o not_o ashamed_a of_o it_o but_o often_o the_o great_a man_n will_v boast_v thereof_o and_o i_o can_v remember_v that_o ever_o i_o see_v it_o punish_v but_o thief_n in_o whole_a multitude_n a._n though_o man_n blush_v not_o at_o that_o which_o shall_v and_o ought_v to_o make_v they_o true_o blush_v a_o manifest_a presumption_n of_o the_o banishment_n of_o all_o honesty_n virtue_n and_o honour_n though_o a_o evil_a custom_n yet_o notwithstanding_o both_o the_o man_n and_o this_o offence_n can_v avoid_v the_o be_v most_o infamous_a e._n but_o because_o you_o tell_v i_o that_o a_o man_n only_o lose_v his_o honour_n when_o he_o accompany_v with_o a_o marry_a woman_n may_v we_o also_o say_v that_o a_o marry_a woman_n be_v only_o infamous_a when_o she_o offend_v with_o a_o marry_a man_n and_o not_o when_o with_o one_o free_a a._n understand_v sir_n that_o as_o a_o man_n ordinary_o exceed_v in_o capacity_n and_o virtue_n a_o woman_n so_o in_o this_o case_n a_o man_n be_v of_o a_o better_a condition_n than_o a_o woman_n and_o a_o woman_n in_o worse_a state_n than_o a_o man_n for_o she_o be_v marry_v and_o accompany_v with_o other_o together_o with_o her_o own_o she_o stain_v her_o husband_n honour_n also_o second_o she_o be_v according_a to_o the_o philosopher_n say_v and_o that_o of_o s._n paul_n in_o all_o reason_n where_o reason_n bear_v sway_v subject_a to_o man_n she_o perform_v the_o great_a injury_n herein_o because_o the_o injury_n of_o the_o inferior_a towards_o the_o superior_a be_v great_a three_o because_o she_o may_v bring_v into_o her_o husband_n house_n strange_a child_n to_o wipe_v her_o husband_n own_o child_n nose_n of_o their_o share_n in_o his_o good_n and_o falsify_v all_o whatsoever_o so_o as_o not_o be_v honest_a it_o will_v be_v hard_a to_o know_v which_o be_v george_n and_o which_o be_v martinoes_n son_n and_o therefore_o we_o read_v that_o a_o very_a poor_a woman_n be_v almost_o at_o the_o point_n of_o death_n and_o her_o husband_n lament_v for_o the_o great_a burden_n of_o child_n which_o be_v like_a to_o lie_v upon_o he_o his_o sick_a wife_n reply_v good_a husband_n do_v not_o fear_v nor_o take_v think_v for_o such_o a_o son_n of_o i_o be_v such_o a_o gentleman_fw-mi the_o other_o of_o such_o a_o lord_n the_o other_o of_o such_o a_o merchant_n the_o four_o be_v one_o of_o my_o servant_n when_o the_o young_a of_o all_o who_o though_o he_o be_v very_o young_a yet_o he_o can_v understand_v and_o speak_v well_o fall_v upon_o his_o knee_n say_v oh_o love_a mother_n appoint_v i_o a_o very_a good_a father_n e._n questionless_a not_o without_o great_a reason_n plato_n and_o aristotle_n with_o all_o the_o other_o in_o set_v down_o the_o mean_n for_o well_o ordain_v of_o a_o commonwealth_n and_o to_o educate_v honest_a and_o virtuous_a man_n their_o principal_a care_n &_o study_n be_v about_o good_a and_o lawful_a procreation_n the_o which_o basi●_n be_v overthrow_v there_o ensue_v a_o beastly_a and_o brutish_a confusion_n a._n miserable_a &_o blind_a world_n that_o do_v not_o discern_v chrisost_n that_o wheresoever_o the_o flesh_n seek_v refection_n it_o find_v defection_n and_o of_o a_o strong_a body_n be_v become_v weak_a of_o a_o nimble_a heavy_a of_o a_o fair_a deform_a of_o a_o healthful_a sick_a of_o a_o young_a old_a of_o a_o live_n dead_a e._n but_o you_o must_v consider_v sir_n that_o all_o man_n do_v not_o follow_v bacchus_n nor_o be_v disciple_n of_o sardanapalus_n nor_o any_o such_o like_a neither_o be_v all_o the_o woman_n bring_v up_o in_o the_o i_o will_v of_o cyprus_n nor_o yet_o the_o scholar_n of_o unchaste_a venus_n a._n who_o know_v not_o that_o as_o in_o noah_n the_o virtuous_a but_o rather_o by_o dispraise_v vice_n exalt_v virtue_n e._n let_v it_o be_v how_o it_o will_n because_o both_o you_o

care_v for_o any_o extraordinary_a experience_n herein_o or_o to_o have_v any_o great_a understanding_n in_o this_o point_n e._n though_o art_n beautify_v all_o thing_n nevertheless_o it_o often_o happen_v that_o where_o experience_n and_o knowledge_n want_v there_o a_o excellent_a disposition_n of_o nature_n and_o wit_n supply_v a._n be_v it_o as_o it_o will_v i_o have_v leave_v this_o enterprise_n to_o those_o which_o know_v how_o to_o purchase_v the_o favour_n of_o prince_n and_o to_o defend_v themselves_o from_o the_o envy_n and_o malevolence_n of_o courtier_n e._n in_o these_o two_o point_n consist_v the_o whole_a matter_n a._n it_o be_v most_o true_a nevertheless_o study_n learning_n horsemanship_n run_v at_o the_o quintane_n and_o the_o ring_n to_o fight_v at_o barrier_n and_o turneament_n be_v true_a honour_n of_o a_o brave_a knight_n or_o courtier_n e._n and_o so_o i_o think_v liberality_n be_v a_o great_a ornament_n and_o give_v testimony_n of_o a_o lofty_a and_o noble_a spirit_n so_o in_o like_a manner_n magnificence_n to_o keep_v a_o honourable_a table_n to_o build_v and_o upon_o every_o worthy_a occurrent_a to_o show_v himself_o a_o wise_a valiant_a and_o judicious_a soldier_n a._n but_o neither_o always_o nor_o every_o one_o can_v be_v liberal_a nor_o valiant_a but_o courteous_a and_o civil_a he_o may_v be_v and_o therefore_o i_o think_v courtesy_n ought_v and_o shall_v adorn_v a_o courtier_n so_o much_o the_o rather_o but_o be_v thus_o sufficient_a in_o both_o the_o exercise_n of_o body_n and_o the_o valour_n of_o the_o mind_n together_o with_o the_o virtue_n of_o custom_n do_v frame_n and_o make_v he_o more_o acceptable_a not_o only_o to_o his_o prince_n but_o to_o every_o body_n else_o e._n and_o yet_o fortitude_n valour_n and_o liberality_n exalt_v he_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n he_o be_v herein_o more_o assist_v unto_o other_o and_o those_o be_v esteem_v the_o best_a quality_n which_o do_v even_o bend_v and_o ensnare_v as_o it_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o a_o prince_n in_o that_o all_o reason_n excite_v he_o to_o love_v that_o man_n most_o who_o for_o the_o virtue_n be_v most_o esteem_v a._n beside_o this_o i_o judge_v that_o consider_v a_o courtier_n as_o one_o virtuous_a must_v not_o only_o exercise_v his_o body_n but_o also_o his_o understanding_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v not_o be_v tax_v for_o one_o rude_a and_o ignorant_a that_o therefore_o he_o ought_v to_o have_v good_a understanding_n in_o divine_a and_o natural_a philosophy_n in_o history_n poetry_n and_o oratory_n and_o in_o the_o more_o worthy_a mystery_n as_o in_o sculpture_n paint_v architecture_n for_o he_o be_v endue_v with_o these_o good_a quality_n will_v be_v honour_v of_o his_o prince_n and_o then_o general_a goodwill_a follow_v this_o honour_n e._n i_o take_v this_o to_o be_v most_o true_a for_o to_o love_v one_o mere_o out_o of_o a_o natural_a affection_n and_o whereunto_o we_o be_v move_v without_o any_o special_a demerit_n of_o he_o proceed_v rather_o from_o manifest_a passion_n then_o from_o sound_a judgement_n a._n but_o here_o grow_v a_o doubt_n for_o envy_n follow_v virtue_n in_o the_o heel_n by_o the_o same_o mean_n whereby_o a_o courtier_n obtain_v the_o good_a will_n of_o his_o prince_n by_o the_o same_o i_o say_v he_o purchase_v the_o perfidious_a envy_n of_o courtier_n et_fw-la hoc_fw-la est_fw-la mare_fw-la magnum_fw-la perversis_fw-la linguis_fw-la spatiosum_fw-la e._n even_o as_o a_o physician_n or_o a_o surgeon_n mind_v to_o cure_v a_o member_n or_o a_o body_n disease_v with_o too_o grievous_a passion_n he_o principal_o bend_v his_o endeavour_n to_o the_o cure_n of_o that_o which_o be_v most_o dangerous_a extenuate_v likewise_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o the_o other_o lesser_a so_o the_o courtier_n not_o be_v able_a with_o his_o virtue_n to_o obtain_v both_o the_o favour_n of_o his_o prince_n and_o other_o man_n good_a will_n with_o all_o care_n he_o ought_v to_o intend_v that_o most_o import_v but_o so_o without_o give_v any_o occasion_n on_o his_o part_n of_o any_o evil_n at_o all_o but_o why_o sigh_v turn_v you_o your_o eye_n that_o way_n a._n i_o will_v not_o and_o yet_o i_o must_v needs_o tell_v you_o whereupon_o i_o sigh_v for_o i_o think_v the_o courtier_n be_v no_o other_o than_o a_o most_o unhappy_a creature_n and_o therefore_o guirino_n speak_v no_o less_o wise_o then_o true_o who_o in_o the_o court_n then_o may_v i_o happy_a call_v guir_n if_o over_o virtue_n envy_n have_v such_o power_n e._n you_o must_v understand_v sir_n that_o thing_n natural_o disjoin_v may_v by_o art_n be_v conjoin_v and_o easy_o unite_v the_o court_n therefore_o be_v a_o congregation_n and_o assembly_n and_o of_o assembly_n some_o have_v be_v institute_v for_o pleasure_n some_o for_o profit_n and_o that_o of_o the_o court_n too_o profitable_a to_o one_o and_o ruin_n to_o another_o to_o be_v a_o palace_n to_o this_o man_n a_o prison_n to_o that_o man_n to_o be_v grace_n to_o one_o and_o disgrace_n to_o another_o hereupon_o we_o can_v simple_o call_v it_o a_o assembly_n for_o profit_n or_o only_o for_o delight_n but_o for_o some_o other_o cause_n which_o peradventure_o only_o be_v the_o honour_n and_o service_n of_o the_o prince_n this_o be_v in_o a_o manner_n the_o self_n same_o thing_n and_o so_o the_o courtier_n can_v just_o be_v say_v to_o be_v most_o unhappy_a but_o rather_o he_o serve_v a_o judicious_a a_o wise_a a_o great_a and_o just_a prince_n may_v be_v think_v most_o happy_a a._n in_o my_o opinion_n so_o it_o be_v and_o therefore_o if_o a_o gentleman_n say_v i_o be_o in_o service_n under_o a_o prince_n it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o he_o shall_v imply_v i_o be_o a_o servant_n of_o honour_n e._n i_o think_v honour_n be_v but_o the_o fume_n and_o servitude_n the_o substance_n a._n the_o court_n be_v a_o assembly_n of_o man_n gather_v together_o for_o honour_n sake_n he_o be_v as_o i_o say_v a_o servant_n of_o honour_n although_o honour_n may_v also_o be_v seek_v after_o if_o there_o be_v no_o close_a interest_n of_o private_a gain_n therein_o conceal_v in_o cause_v the_o law_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n to_o be_v observe_v e._n whether_o one_o serve_v a_o prince_n or_o a_o commonwealth_n to_o conclude_v they_o be_v but_o servant_n can_v be_v worthy_a of_o so_o much_o honour_n as_o you_o speak_v of_o a._n though_o there_o be_v in_o it_o some_o similitude_n of_o servitude_n yet_o be_v it_o not_o altogether_o a_o yoke_n of_o servitude_n such_o man_n serve_v for_o the_o prince_n and_o court_v honour_n wherefore_o to_o make_v a_o just_a destribution_n i_o say_v they_o be_v worthy_a of_o great_a honour_n which_o command_v over_o other_o e._n the_o citizen_n likewise_o command_v but_o which_o be_v the_o great_a hang_v yet_o in_o controversy_n a._n even_o as_o money_n be_v know_v by_o the_o stamp_n so_o one_o honour_n be_v discern_v from_o another_o by_o the_o degree_n and_o end_n thereof_o the_o citizen_n obtain_v honour_n from_o fortitude_n and_o liberality_n so_o do_v also_o the_o knight_n and_o the_o courtier_n only_o it_o be_v distinguish_v by_o degree_n great_a and_o less_o but_o in_o their_o end_n one_o be_v difrent_a from_o another_o the_o true_a courtier_n end_n be_v reputation_n and_o the_o honour_n of_o his_o prince_n from_o whence_o his_o own_o derive_v as_o do_v the_o brook_n from_o his_o fountain_n for_o which_o honour_v sake_n for_o the_o honour_n and_o liberty_n of_o his_o country_n and_o common_a good_a and_o for_o his_o own_o proper_a credit_n he_o must_v use_v weapon_n and_o the_o prince_n for_o his_o subject_n and_o the_o prince_n and_o commonwealth_n must_v be_v good_a architect_n in_o put_v in_o practice_n the_o fortitude_n of_o their_o valiant_a subject_n that_o like_o a_o fierce_a steed_n or_o courser_n ill_o govern_v &_o manage_v he_o may_v not_o precipitate_v and_o so_o the_o courtier_n in_o all_o humility_n must_v yield_v unto_o that_o which_o he_o know_v to_o be_v acceptable_a to_o his_o prince_n for_o thus_o he_o shall_v purchase_v his_o favour_n e._n among_o the_o virtuous_a favour_n be_v obtain_v by_o virtue_n and_o so_o among_o the_o vicious_a by_o vice_n how_o can_v it_o follow_v that_o a_o courtier_n shall_v obtain_v favour_n only_o with_o virtue_n if_o virtue_n in_o court_n be_v odious_a and_o if_o it_o be_v odious_a how_o can_v it_o please_v a._n a_o courtier_n that_o desire_v to_o please_v must_v affect_v rather_o to_o conceal_v himself_o then_o to_o appear_v as_o well_o to_o mitigate_v other_o ill-will_n and_o privy_a persecution_n as_o also_o because_o he_o natural_o shall_v be_v a_o prince_n that_o have_v chief_a and_o great_a possession_n
