a_o institution_n and_o therefore_o not_o to_o have_v a_o natural_a but_o institute_v virtue_n and_o efficacy_n for_o the_o very_a notion_n of_o a_o institution_n be_v that_o all_o the_o virtue_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o be_v not_o owe_v to_o nature_n but_o to_o the_o will_n and_o appointment_n of_o god._n whatever_o be_v a_o natural_a power_n be_v no_o institution_n no_o sacrament_n for_o the_o effect_n there_o be_v whole_o owe_v to_o nature_n not_o to_o god_n appointment_n which_o act_v by_o a_o power_n and_o influence_n superior_a to_o nature_n which_o i_o think_v be_v little_o less_o than_o a_o demonstration_n that_o the_o natural_a body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v not_o substantial_o present_a in_o the_o eucharist_n for_o whatever_o efficacy_n and_o virtue_n we_o attribute_v to_o eat_v the_o flesh_n and_o drink_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v either_o a_o natural_a effect_n of_o this_o eat_v the_o body_n and_o drink_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n or_o it_o be_v not_o if_o it_o be_v than_o it_o be_v no_o sacrament_n which_o work_v not_o by_o the_o power_n of_o nature_n but_o of_o institution_n if_o it_o be_v not_o what_o need_n be_v there_o of_o christ_n bodily_a presence_n in_o the_o sacrament_n when_o a_o sacramental_a body_n of_o christ_n consecrate_a bread_n and_o wine_n to_o represent_v and_o exhibit_v his_o break_a body_n and_o his_o bloodshed_n for_o we_o by_o virtue_n of_o a_o institution_n may_v be_v as_o effectual_a to_o all_o the_o end_n and_o purpose_n of_o a_o sacrament_n as_o his_o natural_a body_n can_v be_v which_o can_v have_v no_o sacramental_a efficacy_n but_o by_o virtue_n of_o a_o institution_n the_o benefit_n we_o expect_v from_o this_o sacramental_a feed_n on_o christ_n body_n be_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n viz._n the_o forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n the_o communication_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o spirit_n and_o a_o right_a to_o immortal_a life_n now_o i_o will_v desire_v to_o know_v whether_o these_o be_v the_o natural_a effect_n of_o a_o corporal_a eat_a christ_n natural_a body_n he_o purchase_v all_o this_o for_o we_o indeed_o by_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n but_o be_v pardon_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v god_n free_a and_o gracious_a act_n incorporate_v with_o christ_n natural_a body_n and_o will_v a_o corporal_a eat_n of_o his_o body_n communicate_v it_o to_o we_o do_v the_o communication_n of_o grace_n and_o spiritual_a life_n flow_v from_o the_o body_n or_o from_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n be_v it_o the_o contact_n of_o his_o body_n that_o make_v our_o body_n immortal_a or_o the_o inhabitation_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o we_o what_o be_v that_o efficacy_n then_o which_o he_o attribute_n to_o christ_n natural_a body_n and_o suppose_v to_o be_v inherent_a in_o it_o a_o natural_a efficacy_n such_o as_o can_v belong_v to_o human_a body_n signify_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n of_o a_o sacrament_n and_o there_o can_v be_v no_o other_o efficacy_n inherent_a in_o christ_n natural_a body_n unless_o he_o will_v say_v that_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o spiritual_a grace_n and_o a_o power_n of_o make_v other_o body_n immortal_a be_v the_o inherent_a and_o essential_a property_n of_o christ_n body_n but_o suppose_v it_o be_v so_o how_o can_v the_o mere_a presence_n of_o christ_n natural_a body_n in_o the_o sacrament_n which_o we_o neither_o see_v nor_o touch_v nor_o eat_v communicate_v all_o these_o divine_a virtue_n to_o we_o for_o if_o it_o be_v by_o natural_a communication_n it_o must_v be_v by_o contact_n for_o body_n have_v no_o other_o way_n of_o work_v upon_o each_o other_o and_o yet_o they_o will_v not_o allow_v that_o we_o touch_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n no_o more_o than_o that_o we_o see_v it_o or_o that_o we_o break_v it_o between_o our_o tooth_n or_o chew_v it_o or_o digest_v it_o in_o our_o stomach_n that_o be_v they_o will_v not_o allow_v that_o we_o natural_o eat_v it_o and_o then_o how_o can_v it_o natural_o communicate_v its_o virtue_n to_o we_o so_o that_o though_o the_o natural_a body_n of_o christ_n be_v present_a in_o the_o sacrament_n those_o divine_a grace_n we_o expect_v from_o it_o must_v be_v the_o effect_n of_o a_o sacramental_a institution_n not_o of_o nature_n and_o therefore_o the_o natural_a presence_n of_o christ_n body_n be_v of_o no_o use_n in_o the_o sacrament_n for_o god_n may_v as_o well_o annex_v all_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n to_o the_o sacramental_a sign_n of_o his_o body_n and_o blood_n as_o to_o his_o natural_a body_n and_o the_o power_n and_o efficacy_n of_o the_o institution_n will_v be_v the_o same_o either_o way_n and_o when_o the_o natural_a presence_n of_o christ_n body_n in_o the_o eucharist_n be_v so_o absolute_o impossible_a such_o a_o contradiction_n to_o the_o sense_n and_o reason_n of_o man_n kind_n and_o of_o no_o use_n to_o the_o purpose_n of_o a_o sacrament_n but_o what_o may_v as_o well_o be_v otherwise_o supply_v and_o the_o sacramental_a eat_n of_o christ_n body_n in_o efficacious_a sign_n be_v so_o easy_a and_o intelligible_a and_o by_o the_o power_n of_o a_o institution_n equal_o effectual_a and_o so_o agreeable_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o all_o other_o institution_n and_o sacrament_n both_o of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n what_o
