holiness_n now_o as_o in_o the_o former_a example_n of_o the_o sick_a man_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o inquire_v whether_o the_o health_n and_o strength_n christ_n give_v he_o be_v sufficient_a to_o cause_v he_o to_o walk_v another_o thing_n to_o demand_v what_o virtue_n of_o christ_n be_v sufficient_a to_o give_v he_o that_o health_n and_o strength_n so_o in_o this_o case_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o ask_v whether_o the_o grace_n of_o spiritual_a health_n or_o sanctification_n be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o produce_v of_o the_o action_n of_o a_o sanctify_a man_n another_o thing_n to_o ask_v what_o grace_n be_v sufficient_a to_o work_v in_o the_o soul_n the_o grace_n of_o sanctification_n itself_o wherefore_o in_o this_o matter_n we_o affirm_v that_o as_o health_n when_o it_o be_v in_o a_o man_n be_v sufficient_a to_o every_o natural_a action_n though_o always_o it_o be_v not_o effectual_a because_o we_o make_v not_o use_v of_o our_o strength_n at_o all_o time_n but_o to_o work_v health_n in_o a_o sick_a man_n no_o virtue_n be_v sufficient_a but_o that_o only_a which_o be_v apply_v prove_v effectual_a to_o restore_v it_o so_o where_o sanctification_n be_v it_o be_v always_o sufficient_a to_o every_o gracious_a action_n if_o it_o be_v due_o exercise_v thereabouts_o but_o may_v sometime_o be_v ineffectual_a through_o our_o default_n in_o not_o apply_v it_o aright_o but_o now_o to_o work_v sanctification_n in_o the_o heart_n that_o have_v it_o not_o there_o be_v no_o other_o gift_n whatsoever_o sufficient_a but_o the_o only_a virtue_n and_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o immortal_a seed_n of_o our_o regeneration_n and_o wheresoever_o this_o only_a and_o all-sufficient_a virtue_n work_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o any_o man_n there_o it_o be_v always_o infallible_o effectual_a to_o dream_v of_o any_o other_o inherent_a quality_n in_o the_o soul_n give_v to_o man_n as_o sufficient_a to_o sanctify_v the_o soul_n and_o yet_o after_o it_o be_v give_v ineffectual_a to_o perform_v it_o be_v a_o fancy_n never_o think_v of_o till_o of_o late_a time_n wherein_o man_n heart_n be_v strange_o embitter_v in_o fierce_a opposition_n against_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n free_a grace_n this_o of_o the_o first_o conclusion_n the_o second_o follow_v and_o it_o be_v this_o that_o sufficient_a grace_n for_o sanctification_n be_v not_o give_v unto_o all_o this_o be_v a_o necessary_a consectary_n of_o the_o former_a for_o see_v sufficient_a and_o effectual_a be_v all_o one_o in_o this_o case_n &_o see_v it_o be_v apparent_a that_o this_o grace_n be_v not_o effectual_a in_o some_o who_o be_v never_o sanctify_v it_o follow_v necessary_o that_o such_o sufficient_a grace_n be_v not_o give_v unto_o all_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o have_v be_v say_v let_v pass_v such_o effect_n as_o be_v visible_a in_o man_n conversation_n now_o both_o these_o be_v each_o of_o they_o of_o two_o different_a sort_n illumination_n be_v either_o 1._o common_a and_o natural_a when_o a_o man_n in_o hear_v or_o 〈◊〉_d read_v conceive_v the_o literal_a sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o the_o scripture_n in_o most_o point_n of_o christian_a religion_n so_o that_o he_o be_v when_o upon_o the_o understanding_n of_o threaten_n or_o promise_n the_o will_n be_v touch_v with_o some_o kind_n of_o affection_n towards_o those_o thing_n as_o they_o which_o be_v natural_o hurtful_a or_o beneficial_a to_o it_o as_o to_o love_v hope_v desire_v fear_v or_o hate_v such_o or_o such_o a_o good_a or_o evil_a thing_n speak_v of_o in_o the_o word_n i_o term_v these_o affection_n natural_a be_v proportionable_a to_o that_o first_o sort_n of_o knowledge_n that_o breed_v they_o for_o when_o a_o unregenerate_a man_n shall_v hear_v it_o plain_o and_o ample_o declare_v what_o happiness_n belong_v to_o the_o saint_n what_o comfort_n be_v in_o god_n favour_n what_o glory_n in_o heaven_n what_o horror_n in_o hell_n and_o a_o bad_a conscience_n he_o will_v be_v easy_o stir_v up_o with_o many_o desire_n of_o enjoy_v the_o one_o and_o escape_v the_o other_o but_o this_o he_o do_v in_o no_o other_o manner_n than_o as_o every_o man_n by_o instinct_n of_o nature_n corporal_a so_o the_o spiritual_a life_n be_v not_o one_o distinct_a but_o omnes_fw-la actus_fw-la primi_fw-la of_o every_o faculty_n whereby_o it_o can_v work_v regular_o and_o though_o in_o the_o body_n some_o part_n may_v live_v alone_o and_o other_o be_v dead_a yet_o in_o our_o spiritual_a life_n it_o be_v far_o otherwise_o all_o power_n be_v quicken_v and_o live_v together_o where_o the_o
