begin_n of_o the_o babylonish_n captivity_n when_o israel_n lose_v their_o kingdom_n to_o the_o anoint_v of_o the_o messiah_n or_o the_o first_o visible_a appearance_n of_o christ_n their_o king_n in_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v in_o the_o right_n as_o to_o the_o more_o speedy_a find_v they_o and_o the_o more_o casie_a make_v they_o out_o yet_o we_o hold_v this_o as_o a_o most_o constant_a and_o infallible_a rule_n that_o all_o their_o report_n must_v be_v bow_v to_o the_o scripture_n and_o not_o one_o tittle_n of_o scripture_n make_v to_o bow_v to_o they_o upon_o this_o principle_n therefore_o suppose_v the_o heathen_a writer_n to_o have_v compute_v sixty_o or_o eighty_o year_n from_o cyrus_n first_o to_o longimanus_fw-la second_v yet_o will_v i_o reckon_v seventy_o and_o not_o regard_v their_o report_n and_o also_o upon_o this_o principle_n because_o the_o scripture_n have_v so_o clear_o determine_v the_o beginning_n and_o end_v of_o the_o seventy_o week_n i_o judge_v i_o or_o that_o monarchy_n within_o the_o time_n of_o its_o particular_a continuance_n and_o last_o whence_o or_o upon_o what_o occasion_n the_o translation_n of_o monarchy_n from_o one_o people_n to_o another_o as_o from_o the_o mede_n and_o persian_n to_o the_o greek_n from_o they_o to_o the_o roman_n and_o from_o they_o the_o translation_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o dominion_n and_o greatness_n of_o the_o kingdom_n under_o the_o whole_a heaven_n into_o the_o hand_n of_o another_o people_n viz._n the_o saint_n of_o the_o most_o high_a who_o till_o this_o day_n have_v always_o and_o ever_o be_v crush_v by_o and_o under_o these_o monarchy_n shall_v arise_v in_o these_o thing_n lie_v the_o main_a scope_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o do_v not_o in_o the_o least_o drive_v at_o such_o a_o reason_n be_v because_o we_o have_v much_o more_o ground_n to_o suspect_v they_o of_o partiality_n than_o the_o other_o for_o josephus_n philo_n etc._n etc._n may_v out_o of_o design_n mention_v such_o king_n only_o as_o they_o find_v in_o ezra_n because_o beside_o the_o misunderstanding_n this_o place_n of_o daniel_n they_o may_v have_v such_o a_o conceit_n that_o ezraes_n book_n be_v a_o perfect_a chronicle_n and_o therefore_o in_o name_v more_o shall_v cross_v not_o this_o only_a but_o that_o also_o and_o also_o be_v jew_n may_v scorn_v to_o take_v a_o relation_n from_o the_o gentile_n who_o they_o esteem_v liar_n and_o accurse_a but_o now_o the_o greek_n have_v no_o temptation_n of_o this_o nature_n before_o they_o which_o may_v move_v they_o out_o of_o mere_a design_n nothus_fw-la artaxerxes_n mnemon_n etc._n etc._n now_o be_v it_o likely_a they_o will_v tell_v such_o lie_n in_o the_o very_a face_n of_o the_o time_n they_o live_v in_o as_o to_o endeavour_v to_o make_v people_n believe_v such_o and_o such_o king_n reign_v over_o they_o when_o every_o child_n know_v the_o contrary_n let_v we_o not_o censure_v even_o heathen_n beyond_o the_o rule_n of_o reason_n nor_o because_o we_o be_v sick_a of_o their_o report_n spew_v out_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o scripture_n with_o they_o this_o objection_n therefore_o do_v not_o so_o offend_v we_o but_o that_o we_o may_v notwithstanding_o it_o safe_o and_o true_o conclude_v that_o the_o number_n of_o year_n from_o cyrus_n first_o to_o artaxerxes_n mnemons_n twenty_o
