fence_v it_o well_o against_o the_o contradiction_n of_o such_o as_o will_v oppose_v and_o gainsay_v it_o for_o there_o be_v not_o any_o say_n in_o this_o book_n which_o have_v meet_v with_o more_o and_o great_a opposition_n and_o contradiction_n the_o office_n of_o a_o bishop_n have_v be_v the_o mark_n at_o which_o not_o only_o the_o profess_a enemy_n of_o the_o church_n have_v bend_v their_o bow_n and_o shoot_v their_o arrow_n but_o likewise_o they_o who_o have_v the_o great_a contention_n with_o each_o other_o which_o of_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o better_a if_o not_o the_o only_a christian_a church_n they_o on_o the_o one_o side_n contend_v for_o one_o bishop_n over_o the_o whole_a church_n and_o make_v all_o the_o rest_n but_o his_o minister_n the_o other_o will_v have_v as_o many_o bishop_n as_o there_o be_v minister_n which_o be_v in_o effect_n to_o have_v none_o but_o second_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o say_n be_v likewise_o a_o matter_n of_o great_a importance_n office_n three_o the_o goodness_n of_o that_o work_n fourthly_a the_o desire_n of_o the_o office_n and_o of_o the_o good_a work_n the_o one_o set_v down_o by_o way_n of_o supposition_n if_o a_o man_n desire_v the_o office_n of_o a_o bishop_n the_o other_o by_o way_n of_o inference_n or_o conclusion_n thereupon_o he_o desire_v a_o good_a work_n these_o be_v the_o particular_n in_o the_o text_n of_o the_o dignity_n and_o preeminence_n the_o power_n and_o authority_n which_o be_v so_o essential_a to_o it_o and_o so_o necessary_a for_o the_o due_a exercise_n and_o discharge_v of_o that_o office_n that_o it_o can_v be_v without_o it_o as_o likewise_o the_o word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d signify_v not_o the_o bare_a office_n but_o the_o office_n together_o with_o the_o dignity_n of_o a_o apostle_n which_o dignity_n the_o apostle_n st._n paul_n be_v careful_a to_o assert_v and_o maintain_v as_o well_o as_o to_o discharge_v the_o office_n and_o it_o be_v the_o more_o remarkable_a in_o he_o because_o he_o be_v a_o man_n so_o far_o from_o all_o manner_n of_o arrogance_n and_o vainglory_n that_o no_o man_n can_v have_v more_o humble_a thought_n of_o himself_o insomuch_o that_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o himself_o 15.9_o 1_o cor._n 15.9_o he_o call_v himself_o the_o least_o of_o the_o apostle_n though_o he_o know_v he_o be_v not_o inferior_a to_o the_o chief_a apostle_n and_o not_o only_o the_o least_o of_o apostle_n but_o less_o than_o the_o least_o of_o all_o saint_n 3.8_o eph._n 3.8_o but_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o office_n he_o say_v in_o as_o much_o as_o i_o be_o
