in_o the_o light_n of_o this_o text_n that_o tell_v you_o plain_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n of_o salvation_n sometime_o it_o please_v god_n by_o one_o text_n set_v home_o by_o the_o spirit_n upon_o our_o heart_n to_o lead_v we_o into_o a_o more_o serious_a consideration_n of_o many_o other_o truth_n relate_v to_o it_o which_o we_o former_o gather_v out_o of_o the_o letter_n of_o the_o word_n without_o any_o application_n of_o the_o matter_n contain_v in_o they_o to_o ourselves_o we_o who_o be_v minister_n must_v insist_v upon_o these_o thing_n we_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o say_v to_o sinner_n till_o they_o be_v convince_v of_o these_o truth_n this_o be_v the_o first_o open_v of_o the_o gospel_n we_o can_v proceed_v one_o step_n far_o till_o some_o credit_n be_v give_v to_o these_o first_o principle_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n i_o hope_v you_o who_o be_v here_o present_a and_o do_v frequent_a this_o assembly_n do_v attend_v upon_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n under_o a_o real_a conviction_n of_o these_o truth_n therefore_o give_v i_o leave_v to_o put_v one_o question_n to_o you_o to_o every_o one_o of_o you_o to_o your_o conscience_n i_o put_v it_o 26._o 28._o they_o who_o labour_v most_o to_o find_v a_o difference_n be_v very_o much_o put_v to_o it_o to_o make_v it_o out_o they_o say_v that_o imputation_n of_o righteousness_n be_v distinct_a from_o remission_n of_o
favour_n of_o god_n for_o we_o and_o a_o right_a to_o all_o the_o blessing_n promise_v in_o the_o gospel_n and_o his_o spirit_n effectual_o apply_v all_o this_o to_o we_o and_o work_v all_o this_o in_o we_o 3._o remission_n of_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v hold_v forth_o and_o offer_v in_o the_o gospel_n presuppose_v nothing_o in_o man_n as_o the_o cause_n and_o condition_n of_o it_o move_v god_n to_o col._n 2._o 13._o and_o you_o be_v dead_a in_o your_o sin_n and_o the_o uncircumcision_n of_o your_o flesh_n have_v he_o quicken_v together_o with_o he_o have_v forgive_v you_o all_o trespass_n so_o heb._n 8._o 10_o 11_o 12._o god_n do_v not_o eye_n any_o qualification_n in_o we_o but_o promise_n to_o do_v all_o himself_o i_o will_v and_o they_o shall_v etc._n etc._n it_o be_v object_v that_o faith_n be_v the_o begin_n of_o sanctification_n and_o if_o faith_n be_v require_v unto_o justification_n than_o some_o part_n at_o least_o of_o our_o sanctification_n be_v require_v unto_o justification_n answ._n no_o part_n at_o all_o for_o though_o faith_n be_v a_o supernatural_a principle_n infuse_v by_o god_n in_o order_n to_o our_o sanctification_n as_o well_o as_o our_o justification_n yet_o it_o first_o justify_v before_o it_o sanctify_v i_o speak_v of_o faith_n now_o not_o in_o its_o first_o principle_n but_o in_o its_o first_o act_n i_o say_v it_o first_o act_n upon_o christ_n by_o receive_v he_o before_o it_o begin_v actual_o to_o sanctify_v we_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o the_o instrumentality_n of_o faith_n in_o receive_v christ_n for_o our_o justification_n and_o the_o efficacy_n of_o faith_n apply_v christ_n receive_v for_o our_o sanctification_n to_o speak_v proper_o it_o be_v not_o god_n work_a faith_n but_o faith_n work_v in_o we_o and_o upon_o we_o that_o sanctify_v god_n always_o give_v christ_n in_o and_o with_o our_o first_o faith_n for_o justification_n and_o pardon_n this_o must_v be_v first_o finish_v and_o complete_v before_o faith_n will_v or_o can_v begin_v to_o sanctify_v we_o because_o faith_n fetch_v all_o its_o sanctify_a virtue_n from_o christ_n receive_v but_o our_o first_o act_n of_o receive_v christ_n be_v that_o that_o justify_v sanctification_n always_o follow_v upon_o it_o and_o be_v gradual_o carry_v on_o by_o a_o justify_v faith_n to_o our_o life_n end_v in_o be_v not_o pardon_v because_o it_o be_v mortify_v but_o because_o it_o be_v pardon_v therefore_o it_o be_v mortify_v remission_n of_o sin_n presuppose_v no_o real_a change_n in_o the_o man_n himself_o as_o move_v god_n
