with_o we_o here_o on_o earth_n second_o if_o thou_o will_v search_v some_o special_a work_n of_o man_n thou_o shall_v find_v writer_n of_o undeniable_a worthiness_n who_o by_o miracle_n prophecy_n oracle_n success_n and_o victory_n against_o opposition_n have_v prove_v the_o verity_n of_o christian_a learning_n it_o be_v impossible_a that_o a_o doctrine_n main_o contrary_a to_o flesh_n &_o by_o tell_v can_v man_n know_v and_o believe_v it_o and_o only_o by_o know_v and_o believe_v can_v man_n strive_v towards_o it_o and_o so_o final_o attain_v it_o so_o we_o see_v that_o man_n must_v know_v and_o believe_v happiness_n to_o obtain_v it_o and_o happiness_n must_v be_v teach_v if_o they_o will_v know_v &_o believe_v it_o and_o to_o teach_v this_o happiness_n there_o need_v a_o word_n of_o revelation_n and_o to_o reveile_v this_o god_n himself_o must_v speak_v unto_o we_o who_o alone_o be_v the_o founder_n and_o knower_n of_o this_o mystery_n therefore_o must_v we_o esteem_v this_o word_n high_o as_o a_o great_a second_o mercy_n by_o which_o the_o first_o great_a mercy_n be_v the_o liver_v to_o us._n before_o this_o doctrine_n our_o happiness_n be_v lock_v up_o in_o god_n unsearchable_a purpose_n but_o by_o this_o doctrine_n happiness_n be_v reach_v out_o to_o we_o and_o issue_v from_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o man._n wherefore_o let_v we_o be_v far_o from_o account_v it_o a_o vain_a word_n for_o it_o be_v our_o life_n and_o the_o length_n of_o our_o day_n and_o by_o it_o we_o receive_v eternal_a life_n from_o the_o ancient_n of_o day_n for_o while_o it_o be_v teach_v unto_o we_o without_o the_o virtue_n and_o spirit_n of_o god_n enter_v into_o we_o within_o and_o make_v we_o capable_a of_o that_o happiness_n which_o be_v teach_v unto_o us._n now_o the_o degree_n by_o which_o this_o spirit_n usual_o work_v upon_o we_o be_v these_o first_o it_o cause_v we_o somewhat_o to_o discern_v &_o allow_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o word_n and_o next_o it_o move_v a_o desire_n of_o more_o knowledge_n and_o of_o a_o great_a taste_n of_o the_o word_n of_o life_n which_o be_v also_o make_v know_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n and_o at_o length_n the_o heart_n be_v move_v with_o so_o servant_n a_o love_n unto_o it_o that_o it_o desire_v to_o be_v whole_o savour_v salt_v and_o season_v therewith_o that_o the_o natural_a man_n may_v no_o long_o live_v in_o the_o heart_n but_o that_o christ_n kingdom_n may_v be_v set_v up_o therein_o and_o so_o the_o word_n or_o christ_n in_o and_o by_o the_o word_n become_v the_o treasure_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o therefore_o from_o thenceforth_o the_o heart_n be_v ever_o think_v on_o his_o treasure_n it_o thirst_v after_o it_o it_o seek_v it_o with_o eye_n and_o ear_n but_o that_o thou_o may_v not_o be_v discourage_v in_o thy_o first_o beginning_n thou_o must_v also_o know_v in_o what_o manner_n and_o order_n the_o doctrine_n and_o art_n of_o felicity_n do_v present_v it_o self_n misery_n from_o thou_o and_o so_o make_v thou_o content_o to_o continue_v in_o misery_n but_o this_o doctrine_n show_v thou_o thy_o misery_n that_o by_o show_v it_o it_o may_v cure_v it_o it_o show_v thou_o indeed_o the_o ugly_a face_n of_o thy_o
misery_n but_o not_o to_o this_o end_n only_o to_o terrify_v thou_o but_o that_o by_o terrify_v it_o may_v make_v thou_o run_v apace_o from_o misery_n to_o felicity_n wherefore_o take_v courage_n and_o come_v with_o i_o profitable_o to_o behold_v the_o countenance_n of_o misery_n which_o as_o heretofore_o have_v be_v mention_v present_v itself_o in_o a_o double_a aspect_n the_o misery_n of_o corruption_n and_o the_o misery_n of_o punishment_n inflict_v on_o this_o corruption_n to_o discover_v thy_o corruption_n thou_o shall_v find_v a_o strict_a and_o severe_a law_n the_o counter-pane_n and_o justice_n cross_v and_o contrary_v with_o their_o imperfection_n &_o injustice_n when_o he_o see_v his_o creature_n hire_v by_o so_o many_o inestimable_a benefit_n only_o to_o do_v he_o the_o service_n of_o righteousness_n which_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o itself_o to_o be_v love_v to_o renounce_v their_o allegiance_n yea_o to_o rebel_n against_o their_o creator_n with_o a_o course_n of_o opposition_n and_o to_o love_v wickedness_n more_o than_o a_o bountiful_a god_n command_v righteousness_n sure_o the_o wrath_n of_o the_o almighty_a must_v needs_o smoke_v against_o such_o traitor_n and_o rebellious_a runagate_n and_o if_o the_o lion_n roar_v how_o shall_v not_o the_o beast_n of_o the_o forest_n be_v afraid_a hence_o therefore_o the_o misery_n of_o our_o corruption_n lead_v we_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o misery_n of_o punishment_n and_o that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o connexion_n between_o sin_n &_o punishment_n reason_n experience_n &_o god_n own_o word_n do_v teach_v us._n reason_n tell_v we_o that_o he_o who_o have_v bring_v this_o great_a frame_n to_o a_o unity_n consist_v of_o disagree_a part_n by_o proportion_n weight_n and_o measure_n be_v himself_o a_o god_n of_o wisdom_n order_n and_o proportion_n and_o if_o he_o be_v such_o he_o must_v needs_o expect_v that_o creature_n of_o reason_n &_o understanding_n shall_v also_o observe_v order_n justice_n and_o righteousness_n for_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n as_o by_o this_o harmony_n the_o word_n be_v found_v so_o by_o the_o same_o be_v it_o still_o preserve_v but_o if_o these_o creature_n bramble_n and_o brier_n against_o the_o barrenness_n and_o staruednesse_n of_o a_o curse_a earth_n which_o he_o must_v resist_v and_o overcome_v with_o the_o sweat_n of_o his_o brow_n yea_o each_o man_n eat_v other_o man_n though_o not_o with_o the_o tooth_n of_o the_o body_n yet_o with_o the_o jaw_n of_o a_o fraudulent_a overreach_v and_o violent_a soul_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v further_a take_v it_o to_o his_o hart_n when_o reason_n can_v prevent_v it_o reason_n to_o foresee_v death_n but_o not_o to_o avoid_v it_o for_o as_o sure_a as_o wickedness_n be_v present_a so_o sure_o shall_v death_n be_v present_a for_o death_n and_o sin_n we_o see_v daily_o be_v in_o every_o man_n unseparable_a now_o the_o combine_v of_o sin_n and_o misery_n in_o this_o bodily_a life_n for_o this_o life_n concern_v the_o body_n most_o &_o the_o soul_n least_o and_o so_o do_v the_o misery_n of_o this_o life_n point_v our_o expectation_n to_o another_o life_n even_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o misery_n to_o be_v fearful_a and_o desperate_a in_o itself_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o feel_v it_o to_o be_v a_o burden_n intolerable_a we_o must_v tell_v he_o in_o word_n and_o deed_n that_o we_o
