examine_v by_o this_o rule_n even_o as_o by_o a_o touchstone_n and_o thereby_o be_v try_v whether_o they_o have_v the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n in_o they_o or_o not_o we_o may_v well_o be_v deceive_v bondage_n of_o egypt_n he_o send_v a_o pillar_n of_o a_o cloud_n by_o day_n and_o a_o pillar_n of_o a_o fire_n by_o night_n exod._n 13.21_o it_o be_v a_o usual_a thing_n with_o the_o prophet_n that_o when_o they_o will_v set_v forth_o any_o excellent_a benefit_n they_o then_o call_v to_o remembrance_n this_o most_o glorious_a work_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n the_o deliverance_n out_o of_o egypt_n shall_v go_v before_o they_o in_o the_o night_n to_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v not_o wander_v or_o go_v astray_o the_o sum_n be_v this_o that_o when_o god_n will_v gather_v home_o his_o church_n from_o out_o of_o babylon_n that_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o less_o admirable_a then_o that_o by_o which_o the_o people_n be_v in_o time_n past_o deliver_v out_o of_o egypt_n not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v accompany_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o journey_n between_o babylon_n and_o judea_n with_o the_o cloud_n and_o the_o pillar_n of_o fire_n as_o in_o the_o wilderness_n take_v this_o literal_o as_o if_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v be_v send_v down_o from_o heaven_n in_o a_o visible_a form_n but_o this_o miracle_n shall_v be_v remember_v only_o to_o the_o end_n the_o faithful_a may_v learn_v to_o rest_v at_o this_o day_n upon_o the_o same_o power_n of_o god_n in_o the_o restauration_n of_o the_o church_n as_o the_o apostle_n have_v experience_n of_o in_o their_o time_n and_o withal_o that_o by_o this_o manner_n of_o speech_n the_o prophet_n mention_v a_o continual_a succession_n of_o blessing_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v god_n will_v not_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o deliver_v you_o for_o a_o moment_n only_o but_o even_o as_o he_o have_v always_o assist_v our_o father_n in_o the_o desert_n so_o after_o he_o have_v deliver_v you_o he_o will_v defend_v you_o unto_o the_o end_n that_o which_o he_o add_v upon_o all_o glory_n depend_v upon_o that_o which_o he_o say_v before_o to_o wit_n that_o the_o bud_n which_o shall_v again_o sprout_v sentence_n thus_o the_o just_a nation_n before_o god_n and_o the_o upright_o before_o man_n but_o i_o take_v it_o more_o simple_o to_o wit_n after_o the_o prophet_n have_v mention_v the_o righteous_a mildness_n he_o think_v the_o second_o time_n to_o draw_v he_o to_o whatsoever_o himself_o list_v only_o he_o wait_v for_o fit_a opportunity_n to_o begin_v war_n afresh_o but_o the_o people_n no_o doubt_n for_o their_o part_n have_v well_o deserve_v to_o be_v thus_o scourge_v for_o their_o wickedness_n according_a as_o it_o have_v be_v before_o prophesy_v for_o albeit_o religion_n flourish_v those_o that_o keep_v book_n and_o have_v the_o dispose_n of_o the_o roll_n or_o charter_n of_o kingdom_n i_o have_v translate_v it_o chancellor_n for_o it_o can_v not_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n we_o may_v also_o gather_v that_o this_o shebna_n be_v in_o great_a credit_n though_o he_o be_v put_v from_o the_o estate_n of_o be_v steward_n or_o great_a master_n of_o big_a word_n set_v forth_o his_o greatness_n the_o rather_o to_o daunt_v the_o heart_n of_o hezekias_n when_o he_o shall_v hear_v he_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o so_o powerful_a a_o enemy_n for_o his_o meaning_n be_v not_o only_o to_o say_v that_o hezekiah_n be_v far_o inferior_a to_o his_o master_n the_o chief_a monarch_n of_o the_o world_n in_o comparison_n of_o who_o hezekiah_n be_v to_o be_v esteem_v no_o better_a than_o a_o mean_a gentleman_n but_o he_o call_v he_o the_o great_a king_n the_o king_n of_o ashur_n that_o by_o these_o title_n of_o his_o power_n and_o magnificence_n he_o may_v as_o it_o be_v darken_v the_o glory_n of_o all_o other_o king_n that_o so_o all_o may_v seem_v to_o rest_v in_o he_o alone_o which_o thunderbolt_n have_v be_v sufficient_a to_o have_v terrify_v head_n even_o as_o if_o they_o have_v find_v the_o same_o record_v in_o some_o anthentique_a history_n but_o the_o word_n show_v that_o this_o be_v no_o such_o apparent_a slaughter_n for_o the_o prophet_n say_v that_o they_o lay_v all_o dead_a upon_o the_o earth_n if_o they_o have_v be_v smite_v with_o lightning_n every_o one_o will_v have_v perceive_v it_o neither_o will_v the_o prophet_n have_v conceal_v it_o the_o conjecture_n of_o the_o rabbin_n than_o you_o see_v be_v confute_v out_o of_o the_o very_a text_n but_o i_o have_v rather_o lane_n off_o in_o the_o mid_a way_n it_o kingdom_n but_o chief_o in_o the_o church_n do_v god_n admit_v his_o child_n sometime_o to_o glory_n in_o their_o well_o do_v i_o deny_v not_o but_o the_o lord_n sometime_o admit_v his_o child_n to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o thing_n which_o they_o have_v well_o do_v not_o as_o vaunt_a of_o their_o desert_n in_o his_o sight_n but_o to_o acknowledge_v his_o benefit_n and_o to_o be_v so_o touch_v with_o the_o remembrance_n thereof_o that_o they_o may_v the_o better_o fit_v themselves_o thereby_o to_o bear_v all_o their_o adversity_n patient_o sometime_o also_o the_o importunity_n of_o their_o enemy_n the_o prophet_n mean_v to_o prevent_v this_o slander_n by_o tell_v they_o that_o they_o be_v not_o thus_o scatter_v &_o make_v a_o prey_n because_o the_o lord_n take_v any_o delight_n therein_o but_o because_o he_o respect_v his_o justice_n above_o all_o thing_n judgement_n the_o sense_n according_a to_o master_n caluins_n judgement_n but_o for_o my_o part_n i_o expound_v it_o simple_o in_o this_o sense_n that_o the_o lord_n to_o exalt_v his_o law_n be_v ready_a to_o do_v his_o people_n good_a that_o his_o glory_n and_o justice_n may_v shine_v therein_o but_o that_o the_o people_n deprive_v themselves_o of_o such_o a_o blessing_n and_o thus_o make_v their_o case_n desperate_a by_o their_o own_o obstinacy_n favour_n the_o cause_n why_o the_o lord_n adorn_v his_o church_n with_o so_o into_o sundry_a calamity_n if_o we_o see_v the_o church_n scatter_v and_o deform_v at_o this_o day_n let_v we_o blame_v our_o sin_n deformity_n the_o cause_n of_o the_o church_n deformity_n for_o we_o thereby_o will_v not_o suffer_v

those_o that_o rest_v upon_o the_o promise_n be_v but_o very_o few_o way_n all_o be_v go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n even_o the_o elect_a sometime_o show_v themselves_o but_o too_o obstinate_a so_o as_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v no_o less_o infect_v with_o this_o contagion_n than_o the_o rest_n he_o tax_v they_o all_o in_o general_a then_o as_o well_o to_o convince_v the_o reprobate_n as_o to_o gall_v the_o elect_a and_o to_o bring_v they_o into_o the_o right_a way_n but_o he_o chief_o set_v himself_o against_o the_o rebel_n as_o i_o have_v say_v who_o obstinate_o and_o stubborn_o reject_v all_o hope_n of_o grace_n and_o my_o salvation_n hereby_o it_o appear_v what_o he_o mean_v by_o the_o word_n justice_n to_o wit_n the_o help_n and_o succour_v of_o god_n promise_v in_o fit_a and_o due_a season_n to_o his_o people_n he_o take_v justice_n and_o salvation_n then_o for_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n because_o it_o be_v a_o excellent_a testimony_n of_o god_n justice_n when_o he_o idle_a or_o asleep_a in_o heaven_n but_o they_o rather_o acknowledge_v therein_o their_o own_o dulness_n or_o slothfulness_n in_o regard_n they_o can_v conceive_v aught_o else_o of_o god_n as_o long_o place_n in_o eph._n 2.17_o where_o he_o say_v that_o christ_n have_v bring_v peace_n to_o those_o which_o be_v near_o and_o to_o those_o a_o far_o off_o now_o he_o speak_v of_o jew_n and_o gentile_n for_o the_o jew_n be_v near_o because_o god_n have_v make_v a_o covenant_n with_o they_o and_o the_o gentile_n be_v far_o off_o in_o regard_n they_o have_v no_o part_n in_o this_o covenant_n object_n but_o it_o seem_v our_o prophet_n speak_v only_o of_o the_o jew_n i_o answer_v that_o the_o apostle_n retain_v the_o prophet_n true_a meaning_n ans_fw-fr if_o all_o be_v well_o consider_v for_o the_o jew_n be_v say_v to_o be_v far_o off_o here_o because_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v banish_v out_o from_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n their_o condition_n be_v like_a to_o that_o of_o the_o gentile_n see_v then_o that_o during_o the_o time_n of_o their_o banishment_n there_o be_v no_o difference_n between_o they_o and_o the_o gentile_n saint_n paul_n have_v just_a cause_n to_o put_v they_o both_o in_o one_o rank_n and_o therefore_o make_v they_o pair_n and_o thus_o apply_v that_o to_o the_o gentile_n which_o our_o prophet_n have_v say_v touch_v the_o jew_n as_o in_o like_a manner_n he_o apply_v the_o place_n of_o hosea_n chap._n 1.10_o to_o the_o gentile_n rom._n 9.26_o verse_n 20._o but_o the_o wicked_a be_v like_o the_o rage_a sea_n that_o can_v rest_v who_o water_n cast_v up_o mire_n and_o dirt_n have_v speak_v of_o that_o peace_n which_o the_o faithful_a shall_v enjoy_v wicked_a a_o denunciation_n against_o the_o wicked_a he_o on_o the_o
