judgement_n yet_o god_n will_v also_o reveal_v this_o truth_n unto_o they_o as_o he_o have_v do_v other_o truth_n my_o note_n hence_o in_o brief_n be_v that_o we_o be_v to_o take_v heed_n how_o we_o take_v thing_n upon_o the_o credit_n of_o the_o ancient_a father_n the_o lord_n be_v great_o to_o be_v bless_v for_o they_o and_o it_o be_v with_o all_o thankfulness_n to_o be_v acknowledge_v that_o they_o by_o their_o godly_a labour_n have_v great_o profit_v god_n church_n but_o yet_o their_o word_n and_o the_o sense_n which_o they_o give_v of_o the_o scripture_n be_v to_o be_v weigh_v in_o the_o balance_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n and_o to_o be_v examine_v according_a to_o the_o scripture_n for_o this_o by_o examination_n we_o shall_v find_v that_o diverse_a time_n they_o miss_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o sometime_o they_o plain_o alter_v the_o word_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n this_o place_n give_v evident_a witness_n unto_o both_o where_o both_o the_o word_n be_v so_o alter_v and_o the_o meaning_n so_o miss_v by_o this_o holy_a father_n as_o that_o in_o both_o he_o swerve_v from_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o before_o be_v evident_o show_v the_o more_o to_o blame_v they_o thâ—â—_n take_v a_o father_n word_n for_o warrant_v good_a enough_o and_o think_v their_o plea_n good_a if_o in_o the_o exposition_n of_o a_o scripture_n or_o debate_v of_o a_o question_n they_o have_v the_o suffrage_n and_o like_n of_o one_o or_o two_o father_n the_o second_o thing_n which_o i_o note_n be_v the_o manner_n how_o the_o apostle_n deal_v with_o such_o of_o the_o philippian_n as_o differ_v from_o he_o in_o judgement_n even_o in_o these_o point_n of_o righteousness_n and_o salvation_n he_o do_v not_o by_o and_o by_o despair_n of_o they_o or_o reject_v they_o as_o heretic_n or_o thunder_v our_o sharp_a threaten_n against_o they_o but_o in_o all_o mildness_n of_o spirit_n signify_v his_o hope_n that_o god_n will_v reveal_v their_o error_n unto_o they_o that_o they_o which_o now_o be_v otherwise_o mind_v than_o he_o be_v may_v be_v of_o the_o same_o mind_n that_o he_o be_v but_o withal_o we_o must_v note_v what_o manner_n man_n they_o be_v with_o who_o the_o apostle_n deal_v thus_o kind_o they_o be_v no_o such_o man_n as_o wilful_o oppose_v themselves_o against_o the_o truth_n or_o such_o as_o be_v so_o utter_o bewitch_v that_o they_o will_v not_o obey_v the_o truth_n but_o such_o as_o have_v not_o long_o since_o embrace_v the_o truth_n by_o his_o preach_n be_v now_o a_o little_a seduce_v and_o draw_v aside_o by_o such_o false_a teacher_n as_o be_v creep_v in_o among_o they_o whence_o i_o observe_v that_o we_o be_v for_o a_o time_n to_o bear_v with_o the_o ignorance_n of_o our_o weak_a brethren_n and_o to_o retain_v a_o good_a hope_n of_o they_o though_o they_o do_v not_o whole_o subscribe_v unto_o that_o truth_n which_o we_o embrace_v this_o also_o our_o apostle_n teach_v we_o to_o do_v where_o he_o say_v 15.1_o rom._n 15.1_o we_o which_o be_v strong_a aught_o to_o bear_v the_o infirmity_n of_o the_o weak_a and_o not_o to_o please_v ourselves_o we_o which_o be_v strong_a in_o knowledge_n in_o faith_n in_o hope_n or_o any_o good_a grace_n of_o god_n ought_v â—o_o bear_v with_o such_o of_o our_o brethren_n as_o do_v yet_o come_v short_a of_o we_o â—n_o any_o such_o grace_n neither_o ought_v we_o so_o bring_v he_o unto_o that_o truth_n in_o doctrine_n or_o holiness_n of_o life_n from_o which_o he_o be_v fall_v which_o show_v that_o we_o be_v not_o to_o give_v over_o for_o forlorn_a those_o that_o be_v hold_v with_o some_o error_n but_o rather_o that_o we_o be_v for_o a_o time_n to_o bear_v with_o â—hem_n and_o to_o hope_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v bring_v they_o unto_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o see_v what_o great_a reason_n there_o be_v to_o move_v we_o hereunto_o do_v we_o not_o all_o sit_v in_o darkness_n and_o in_o the_o shadow_n of_o death_n be_v we_o not_o all_o ignorant_a of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o thing_n that_o belong_v unto_o our_o peace_n yes_o sure_o until_o the_o daystar_n even_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n arise_v in_o our_o heart_n our_o mind_n be_v full_a of_o darkness_n and_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n we_o know_v not_o for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v 2.14_o 1_o cor._n 2.14_o the_o natural_a man_n who_o understanding_n be_v not_o yet_o clear_v by_o god_n spirit_n perceive_v not_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o they_o be_v foolishness_n unto_o he_o have_v then_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o great_a mercy_n towards_o i_o make_v my_o darkness_n to_o be_v light_n and_o bring_v i_o to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o truth_n and_o shut_v he_o as_o yet_o up_o in_o darkness_n and_o in_o ignorance_n or_o have_v the_o lord_n bring_v we_o both_o to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o truth_n and_o have_v he_o suffer_v he_o by_o occasion_n to_o fall_v from_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n and_o sustain_v i_o by_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o shall_v i_o in_o either_o of_o these_o case_n insult_v over_o he_o contemn_v or_o disdain_n he_o determine_v or_o judge_v rash_o of_o he_o to_o be_v a_o forlorn_a man_n a_o atheist_n a_o reprobate_a or_o be_o i_o not_o rather_o bend_v the_o knee_n of_o my_o soul_n unto_o the_o lord_n for_o his_o mercy_n towards_o i_o to_o hope_v that_o in_o his_o good_a time_n he_o will_v lighten_v his_o understanding_n that_o be_v shut_v up_o in_o ignorance_n or_o raise_v he_o up_o again_o that_o be_v fall_v and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n to_o bear_v with_o the_o ignorance_n of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o error_n of_o the_o other_o yes_o my_o brethren_n so_o long_o as_o their_o ignorance_n of_o the_o truth_n be_v untainted_a with_o canker_a malice_n against_o the_o truth_n we_o may_v hope_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v call_v they_o at_o the_o sixth_o or_o nine_o or_o some_o good_a hour_n and_o reveal_v his_o holy_a truth_n unto_o they_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n we_o be_v to_o bear_v with_o they_o and_o to_o support_v one_o another_o through_o love_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n the_o holy_a apostle_n when_o the_o word_n which_o they_o preach_v be_v unto_o they_o that_o hear_v they_o as_o water_v pour_v upon_o a_o stone_n yet_o cease_v not_o to_o instruct_v they_o with_o all_o patience_n hope_v that_o god_n will_v reveal_v the_o thing_n unto_o they_o which_o as_o yet_o be_v hâ—â—_n from_o their_o eye_n this_o than_o shall_v teach_v we_o not_o to_o despair_v of_o they_o unto_o who_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o yet_o reveal_v some_o part_n of_o his_o truth_n nor_o to_o withhold_v from_o they_o such_o wholesome_a instruction_n and_o admonition_n as_o may_v draw_v they_o from_o that_o ignorance_n or_o error_n wherewith_o they_o be_v hold_v but_o in_o all_o godly_a sort_n to_o labour_v with_o they_o prove_v if_o at_o any_o time_n god_n will_v open_v their_o eye_n that_o they_o may_v turn_v from_o darkness_n unto_o light_n from_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n unto_o god_n the_o minister_n be_v after_o the_o example_n of_o our_o apostle_n to_o instruct_v with_o all_o patience_n they_o that_o be_v ignorant_a and_o they_o that_o be_v contrary_o mind_v in_o that_o truth_n of_o christ_n jesus_n which_o he_o have_v learned_a and_o to_o deal_v with_o they_o to_o be_v like_o mind_a as_o he_o be_v and_o if_o they_o be_v otherwise_o mind_v yet_o to_o labour_v with_o they_o and_o to_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v reveal_v the_o truth_n unto_o they_o other_o likewise_o who_o eye_n the_o lord_n
say_v our_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n touch_v who_o we_o doubt_v whether_o god_n be_v their_o father_n how_o can_v we_o communicate_v in_o the_o lord_n supper_n with_o they_o of_o who_o we_o doubt_v whether_o they_o be_v join_v with_o we_o in_o the_o same_o communion_n of_o saint_n how_o can_v we_o live_v with_o they_o as_o with_o our_o brethren_n and_o belove_a if_o we_o doubt_v whether_o they_o be_v within_o the_o same_o covenant_n of_o grace_n with_o we_o a_o shallow_a peace_n and_o a_o shadow_n of_o love_n and_o a_o semblance_n of_o christianity_n there_o may_v be_v but_o such_o as_o under_o a_o colour_n only_o deceive_v and_o have_v no_o soundness_n in_o it_o it_o be_v this_o persuasion_n of_o our_o own_o mind_n touch_v our_o brethren_n that_o they_o be_v in_o one_o covenant_n of_o grace_n with_o we_o that_o they_o be_v member_n of_o the_o same_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n jesus_n with_o we_o that_o they_o be_v heir_n of_o the_o same_o salvation_n with_o we_o that_o through_o one_o god_n one_o faith_n one_o baptism_n one_o gospel_n of_o christ_n jesus_n they_o and_o we_o shall_v reign_v together_o in_o one_o kingdom_n it_o be_v this_o i_o say_v that_o link_v we_o in_o the_o true_a bond_n of_o peace_n love_n and_o christianity_n and_o either_o this_o must_v be_v or_o else_o that_o can_v be_v if_o then_o we_o desire_v to_o be_v knit_v together_o in_o the_o true_a bond_n of_o peace_n love_n and_o christianity_n let_v we_o so_o walk_v that_o we_o may_v be_v thus_o persuade_v one_o of_o another_o as_o we_o be_v call_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n so_o let_v we_o walk_v in_o the_o truth_n and_o let_v we_o keep_v fast_o the_o profession_n of_o our_o hope_n unto_o the_o end_n let_v we_o follow_v the_o truth_n in_o love_n and_o in_o all_o thing_n grow_v up_o into_o he_o which_o be_v the_o head_n that_o be_v christ_n root_v &_o build_v in_o he_o &_o establish_v in_o the_o faith_n let_v our_o love_n one_o towards_o another_o abound_v yet_o more_o &_o more_o in_o all_o knowledge_n and_o in_o all_o judgement_n let_v we_o have_v our_o conversation_n such_o as_o become_v the_o saint_n of_o god_n and_o let_v we_o provide_v for_o thing_n honest_a not_o only_o before_o the_o lord_n but_o also_o before_o man_n thus_o shall_v we_o have_v a_o sure_a seal_n unto_o our_o soul_n thus_o shall_v we_o give_v a_o good_a testimony_n unto_o other_o that_o we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o thus_o shall_v we_o be_v knit_v together_o in_o one_o mind_n and_o in_o one_o judgement_n that_o we_o may_v walk_v together_o in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n as_o friend_n my_o next_o observation_n hence_o be_v for_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o minister_n in_o particular_a the_o apostle_n you_o see_v upon_o the_o faithful_a labour_n of_o those_o that_o have_v labour_v with_o he_o in_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n at_o philippi_n pronounce_v that_o their_o name_n be_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n whence_o i_o observe_v this_o for_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o good_a minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n jesus_n if_o he_o have_v faithful_o and_o painful_o labour_v in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n if_o he_o have_v in_o all_o good_a conscience_n instruct_v and_o admonish_v his_o people_n and_o endeavour_v to_o increase_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n jesus_n his_o reward_n be_v with_o god_n and_o his_o life_n be_v as_o sure_o seal_v up_o with_o god_n as_o if_o his_o name_n be_v write_v in_o a_o book_n to_o that_o purpose_n to_o which_o purpose_n be_v that_o also_o of_o the_o apostle_n where_o he_o say_v 3.8.14_o 1._o cor._n 3.8.14_o every_o man_n shall_v receive_v wage_n according_a to_o his_o labour_n if_o any_o man_n work_n that_o he_o have_v build_v upon_o abide_v he_o shall_v receive_v 49.4.5_o esa_n 49.4.5_o yet_o be_v his_o judgement_n with_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o work_n with_o his_o god_n though_o israel_n be_v not_o gather_v yet_o shall_v he_o be_v glorious_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o god_n shall_v be_v his_o strength_n so_o that_o howsoever_o his_o labour_n be_v in_o vain_a unto_o they_o yet_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v in_o vain_a in_o the_o lord_n though_o they_o be_v not_o teach_v yet_o shall_v not_o he_o lose_v his_o reward_n for_o because_o he_o have_v be_v faithful_a 25.21_o mat._n 25.21_o he_o shall_v enter_v into_o his_o master_n joy_n a_o good_a comfort_n after_o he_o have_v bear_v the_o burden_n and_o heat_n of_o the_o day_n to_o receive_v such_o a_o penny_n but_o what_o part_n of_o this_o comfort_n have_v he_o that_o be_v set_v yourselves_o what_o it_o be_v that_o the_o lord_n look_v for_o from_o you_o grape_n or_o wild_a grape_n it_o be_v judgement_n and_o righteousness_n mercy_n and_o truth_n peace_n and_o love_n integrity_n and_o holiness_n that_o he_o look_v for_o and_o that_o he_o require_v for_o such_o his_o love_a kindness_n towards_o you_o for_o such_o his_o continual_a care_n over_o you_o and_o if_o these_o thing_n be_v among_o you_o and_o abound_v then_o bless_v shall_v you_o be_v of_o the_o lord_n and_o you_o shall_v eat_v of_o the_o fruit_n of_o your_o way_n but_o if_o he_o look_v for_o judgement_n and_o behold_v oppression_n for_o righteousness_n and_o behold_v a_o cry_n for_o mercy_n and_o behold_v cruelty_n for_o truth_n and_o behold_v falsehood_n for_o peace_n and_o behold_v discord_n for_o love_n and_o behold_v hatred_n for_o integrity_n and_o behold_v dissimulation_n and_o hypocrisy_n for_o holiness_n and_o behold_v profaneness_n and_o all_o kind_n of_o iniquity_n then_o what_o remain_v but_o a_o remove_n of_o our_o candlestick_n out_o of_o his_o place_n what_o but_o a_o fearful_a look_v for_o of_o judgement_n wherein_o shall_v be_v indignation_n and_o wrath_n unto_o they_o that_o disobey_v the_o truth_n and_o obey_v unrighteousness_n see_v therefore_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o tender_a care_n over_o we_o send_v forth_o labourer_n unto_o we_o and_o so_o plentiful_o reward_v their_o holy_a labour_n among_o we_o let_v we_o again_o with_o all_o care_n consider_v what_o he_o require_v of_o we_o for_o such_o his_o care_n over_o we_o and_o in_o all_o obedience_n address_v ourselves_o unto_o that_o duty_n his_o will_n be_v that_o we_o shall_v hearken_v unto_o the_o voice_n of_o they_o that_o come_v in_o his_o name_n and_o he_o have_v in_o nothing_o so_o much_o delight_n as_o when_o his_o word_n be_v obey_v his_o care_n over_o we_o in_o send_v his_o minister_n unto_o we_o early_o and_o late_o shall_v be_v repay_v by_o we_o with_o a_o good_a duty_n towards_o he_o if_o we_o will_v hearken_v and_o obey_v let_v we_o therefore_o hearken_v and_o obey_v and_o so_o shall_v we_o reap_v unto_o ourselves_o a_o good_a reward_n for_o he_o that_o plentiful_o reward_v he_o that_o labour_v among_o we_o and_o admonish_v we_o will_v also_o in_o like_a mercy_n reward_v we_o if_o in_o we_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o labour_n grow_v up_o in_o have_v minister_n to_o attend_v on_o teach_v and_o deacon_n to_o attend_v on_o distribution_n and_o a_o absolute_a ecclesiastical_a government_n as_o it_o may_v seem_v among_o they_o this_o be_v the_o moreover_o my_o brethren_n rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n it_o grieve_v i_o not_o to_o write_v the_o same_o thing_n unto_o you_o and_o for_o you_o it_o be_v a_o sure_a etc._n etc._n the_o holy_a apostle_n have_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o this_o epistle_n first_o signify_v his_o good_a mind_n towards_o the_o philippian_n by_o retain_v they_o in_o perfect_a memory_n by_o his_o longing_n after_o they_o all_o from_o the_o very_a heart_n root_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o by_o his_o pray_v for_o they_o and_o have_v afterward_o exhort_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o shrink_v for_o his_o imprisonment_n because_o thereby_o the_o gospel_n be_v confirm_v and_o not_o diminish_v in_o the_o second_o chapter_n as_o we_o have_v hear_v he_o first_o exhort_v they_o unto_o humility_n that_o put_v apart_o all_o contention_n and_o vain_a glory_n they_o will_v have_v even_o the_o same_o mind_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n who_o be_v god_n humble_v himself_o to_o be_v man_n and_o become_v obedient_a to_o the_o death_n even_o the_o death_n of_o the_o cross_n and_o be_v therefore_o high_o exalt_v &c._n &c._n 2._o have_v ground_v certain_a exhortation_n upon_o that_o example_n of_o christ_n his_o humility_n and_o obedience_n as_o 1._o that_o they_o will_v run_v forward_o in_o that_o race_n of_o righteousness_n wherein_o god_n have_v free_o place_v they_o through_o jesus_n christ_n make_v a_o end_n of_o their_o salvation_n with_o fear_n and_o tremble_a and_o than_o that_o they_o will_v do_v all_o thing_n with_o their_o neighbour_n without_o murmur_a and_o reason_v that_o they_o may_v be_v blameless_a and_o pure_a and_o the_o son_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n the_o apostle_n i_o say_v have_v ground_v these_o exhortation_n upon_o that_o example_n of_o christ_n his_o humility_n and_o obedience_n 2._o for_o their_o comfort_n and_o confirmation_n against_o certain_a false_a apostle_n creep_v in_o among_o they_o he_o both_o promise_v to_o send_v timothy_n short_o unto_o they_o and_o likewise_o that_o himself_o will_v short_o after_o that_o come_v unto_o they_o and_o beside_o send_v their_o minister_n epaphroditus_n present_o unto_o they_o now_o in_o this_o 3._o chapter_n the_o apostle_n instruct_v the_o philippian_n in_o the_o thing_n wherein_o the_o false_a apostle_n labour_v to_o seduce_v they_o and_o so_o arm_v the_o philippian_n against_o they_o till_o his_o come_n unto_o they_o by_o confute_v that_o false_a doctrine_n which_o they_o deliver_v the_o doctrine_n which_o the_o false_a apostle_n deliver_v be_v that_o not_o christ_n alone_o and_o faith_n in_o his_o name_n but_o circumcision_n also_o and_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n be_v necessary_a unto_o justification_n and_o salvation_n which_o doctrine_n the_o apostle_n do_v at_o large_a confute_v in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o galathian_o because_o they_o have_v suffer_v themselves_o to_o be_v seduce_v and_o bewitch_v by_o it_o but_o here_o because_o the_o philippian_n have_v manful_o withstand_v it_o and_o give_v it_o no_o place_n among_o they_o the_o apostle_n very_o brief_o confute_v it_o and_o prove_v that_o our_o righteousness_n be_v only_o by_o christ_n and_o faith_n in_o his_o name_n not_o at_o all_o by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n the_o principal_a part_n of_o this_o chapter_n be_v three_o 1._o he_o exhort_v they_o to_o beware_v of_o false_a teacher_n verse_n 2._o and_o instruct_v they_o in_o that_o truth_n which_o the_o false_a apostle_n gainsay_v vers_fw-la 3._o 2._o the_o apostle_n propose_v himself_o as_o a_o imbracer_n of_o that_o truth_n touch_v man_n righteousness_n which_o they_o be_v to_o embrace_v à _fw-la vers_fw-la 4._o ad_fw-la 15._o last_o he_o exhort_v they_o to_o embrace_v and_o hold_v fast_o the_o same_o truth_n with_o he_o and_o to_o walk_v as_o they_o have_v he_o for_o a_o ensample_n from_o vers_fw-la 15._o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o chapter_n now_o before_o he_o come_v to_o the_o handle_n of_o any_o of_o these_o principal_a part_n 1._o he_o set_v down_o this_o exhortation_n rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n as_o a_o conclusion_n of_o that_o which_o go_v before_o &_o as_o a_o ground_n of_o that_o which_o follow_v 2._o he_o excuse_v hâ—mselfe_n for_o write_v now_o the_o same_o thing_n by_o epistle_n which_o before_o he_o have_v teach_v they_o by_o word_n of_o mouth_n that_o the_o exhortation_n be_v set_v down_o partly_o by_o way_n of_o conclusion_n of_o that_o which_o he_o have_v speak_v before_o may_v appear_v by_o the_o entrance_n unto_o it_o in_o that_o he_o say_v moreover_o etc._n etc._n for_o it_o be_v epaphroditus_n your_o minister_n his_o sickness_n now_o for_o my_o bond_n they_o â—s_v i_o have_v tell_v you_o have_v turn_v rather_o to_o the_o further_a of_o the_o gospel_n inasmuch_o as_o many_o of_o the_o brethren_n in_o the_o lord_n be_v bolden_v through_o my_o bond_n to_o speak_v the_o word_n and_o now_o so_o it_o be_v that_o i_o be_o in_o good_a hope_n short_o to_o be_v deliver_v from_o my_o bond_n and_o to_o come_v unto_o you_o again_o for_o epaphroditus_n god_n have_v have_v mercy_n upon_o he_o and_o now_o he_o be_v return_v unto_o you_o in_o good_a and_o perfect_a health_n what_o therefore_o now_o remain_v my_o brethren_n but_o that_o you_o be_v glad_a and_o rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o lord_n i_o say_v who_o before_o i_o have_v describe_v unto_o you_o in_o that_o lord_n who_o be_v in_o the_o form_n of_o god_n think_v it_o no_o robbery_n to_o be_v equal_a with_o god_n yet_o make_v himself_o of_o no_o reputation_n and_o take_v on_o he_o the_o form_n of_o a_o in_o christ_n jesus_n for_o our_o better_a instruction_n in_o which_o point_n of_o our_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n let_v we_o in_o the_o next_o place_n hence_o observe_v that_o to_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n be_v not_o only_o to_o repose_v our_o whole_a trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o he_o as_o in_o the_o horn_n of_o our_o salvation_n to_o make_v our_o boast_n of_o he_o and_o to_o tell_v of_o all_o the_o wondrous_a work_n that_o he_o have_v do_v for_o we_o with_o gladness_n but_o withal_o to_o renounce_v all_o confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n and_o in_o any_o outward_a thing_n whatsoever_o for_o these_o be_v thing_n which_o can_v stand_v together_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o repose_v our_o confidence_n in_o any_o outward_a thing_n whatsoever_o for_o if_o we_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n than_o we_o repose_v the_o whole_a confidence_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o every_o part_n thereof_o upon_o he_o and_o he_o alone_o and_o if_o we_o repose_v our_o whole_a or_o any_o part_n of_o the_o confidence_n of_o our_o salvation_n on_o any_o outward_a thing_n and_o not_o on_o christ_n jesus_n alone_o than_o we_o do_v not_o indeed_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n this_o the_o apostle_n plain_o show_v 5.4_o gal._n 5.4_o where_o he_o say_v that_o whosoever_o be_v justify_v by_o the_o law_n they_o be_v fall_v from_o grace_n that_o be_v whosoever_o seek_v for_o their_o righteousness_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n or_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v by_o they_o they_o be_v fall_v from_o grace_n christ_n profit_v they_o nothing_o let_v they_o look_v unto_o this_o that_o trust_v unto_o their_o merit_n to_o be_v save_v by_o they_o sure_o the_o conclusion_n from_o this_o place_n of_o our_o apostle_n lie_v very_o hard_a upon_o they_o for_o hence_o thus_o i_o gather_v they_o that_o have_v confidence_n of_o their_o salvation_n by_o their_o merit_n or_o by_o any_o outward_a thing_n whatsoever_o and_o not_o only_o by_o christ_n jesus_n they_o rejoice_v not_o in_o christ_n jesus_n they_o that_o rejoice_v not_o in_o christ_n jesus_n they_o worship_v not_o god_n in_o the_o spirit_n they_o that_o worship_v not_o god_n in_o the_o spirit_n they_o be_v not_o circumcise_v with_o the_o true_a and_o spiritual_a circumcision_n ergo_fw-la they_o that_o have_v confidence_n of_o their_o salvation_n by_o their_o merit_n they_o be_v not_o circumcise_v with_o the_o true_a and_o spiritual_a circumcision_n where_o in_o my_o judgement_n the_o conclusion_n be_v as_o inevitable_a as_o hard_a if_o they_o answer_v that_o the_o apostle_n make_v no_o mention_n of_o the_o merit_n of_o work_n and_o therefore_o nothing_o can_v hence_o be_v conclude_v against_o the_o merit_n of_o work_n i_o answer_v again_o that_o by_o the_o name_n of_o flesh_n in_o this_o place_n of_o our_o apostle_n be_v understand_v not_o only_o the_o circumcision_n of_o the_o flesh_n or_o other_o ceremony_n of_o the_o law_n but_o all_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n all_o man_n merit_n whatsoever_o even_o all_o outward_a thing_n whatsoever_o which_o be_v plain_a by_o the_o antithesis_fw-la and_o opposition_n in_o this_o place_n between_o christ_n and_o the_o flesh_n and_o likewise_o by_o that_o that_o follow_v in_o the_o apostle_n for_o first_o where_o he_o say_v we_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o have_v no_o confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n in_o that_o he_o deni_v that_o they_o have_v any_o confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n what_o else_o be_v his_o meaning_n but_o that_o they_o have_v no_o confidence_n in_o any_o thing_n but_o only_o in_o christ_n jesus_n so_o rejoice_v in_o he_o as_o that_o they_o put_v their_o whole_a confidence_n in_o he_o again_o when_o he_o show_v afterward_o what_o he_o mean_v by_o the_o flesh_n he_o speak_v not_o only_o of_o the_o circumcision_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o of_o his_o tribe_n of_o his_o stock_n of_o his_o religion_n of_o his_o zeal_n yea_o and_o lest_o he_o shall_v seem_v to_o leave_v out_o any_o thing_n without_o christ_n wherein_o he_o have_v any_o confidence_n he_o speak_v express_o of_o all_o thing_n without_o christ_n that_o for_o christ_n he_o count_v all_o thing_n loss_n so_o that_o the_o conclusion_n though_o most_o hard_o will_v not_o be_v avoid_v but_o that_o they_o that_o trust_v to_o be_v save_v by_o their_o merit_n be_v not_o circumcise_v with_o the_o true_a and_o spiritual_a circumcision_n but_o be_v as_o yet_o stranger_n from_o the_o covenant_n of_o promise_n and_o have_v no_o inheritance_n among_o the_o son_n of_o god_n let_v we_o therefore_o man_n and_o brethren_n renounce_v all_o confidence_n in_o any_o thing_n without_o christ_n whatsoever_o and_o let_v we_o trust_v only_o in_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n jesus_n he_o alone_o be_v make_v of_o god_n unto_o we_o wisdom_n and_o righteousness_n and_o sanctification_n and_o redemption_n he_o have_v purchase_v we_o with_o his_o own_o blood_n he_o be_v set_v for_o ever_o at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n to_o make_v intercession_n for_o we_o and_o through_o he_o alone_o we_o receive_v all_o the_o blessing_n that_o we_o have_v either_o for_o this_o life_n or_o that_o that_o be_v to_o come_v let_v we_o therefore_o rejoice_v in_o he_o and_o not_o in_o any_o thing_n without_o he_o he_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o believe_v in_o he_o that_o send_v he_o and_o he_o that_o love_v he_o love_v he_o that_o send_v he_o and_o he_o that_o obey_v he_o obey_v he_o that_o send_v he_o and_o he_o that_o glorifi_v he_o glorifi_v he_o that_o send_v he_o let_v we_o therefore_o worship_v he_o with_o all_o holy_a worship_n and_o so_o shall_v we_o worship_v god_n in_o the_o spirit_n and_o so_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a true_o to_o say_v with_o the_o apostle_n we_o be_v the_o circumcision_n which_o worship_n god_n in_o the_o spirit_n and_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o have_v no_o confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n circumcise_v o_o lord_n we_o beseech_v thou_o the_o foreskinne_n of_o our_o heart_n with_o the_o finger_n of_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v worship_v thou_o in_o spirit_n and_o in_o truth_n &_o that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o thy_o son_n christ_n jesus_n as_o in_o the_o horn_n of_o our_o salvation_n renounce_v all_o confidence_n in_o any_o thing_n without_o he_o whatsoever_o o_o lord_n purge_v we_o daily_o more_o and_o more_o from_o all_o inordinate_a affection_n and_o unbridled_a desire_n which_o any_o way_n may_v draw_v we_o from_o thou_o or_o hinder_v we_o in_o thy_o service_n renew_v in_o we_o right_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v worship_v thou_o not_o after_o the_o fond_a device_n of_o our_o own_o brain_n but_o in_o spirit_n and_o in_o truth_n after_o the_o rule_n of_o thy_o holy_a word_n and_o so_o sanctify_v we_o with_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n that_o abandon_v all_o worldly_a confidence_n whatsoever_o we_o may_v whole_o and_o only_o rejoice_v in_o thy_o son_n christ_n jesus_n for_o ever_o lecture_n lii_o philip_n 3._o verse_n 4.5.6_o though_o i_o may_v also_o have_v confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n if_o any_o other_o man_n think_v that_o he_o have_v whereof_o he_o may_v trust_v now_o the_o apostle_n the_o circumcision_n of_o the_o flesh_n or_o in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n or_o in_o any_o thing_n without_o christ_n whatsoever_o and_o than_o that_o christ_n alone_o be_v all_o his_o righteousness_n and_o the_o horn_n of_o his_o salvation_n in_o these_o verse_n that_o i_o have_v read_v unto_o you_o the_o apostle_n first_o show_v that_o if_o he_o will_v or_o think_v it_o meet_v to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o flesh_n he_o have_v as_o good_a cause_n so_o to_o do_v nay_o better_a cause_n so_o to_o do_v then_o any_o of_o they_o that_o rejoice_v in_o the_o flesh_n have_v 2._o he_o show_v that_o albeit_o he_o may_v have_v as_o good_a confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n as_o the_o best_a yet_o he_o now_o count_v of_o all_o those_o thing_n not_o only_o as_o unprofitable_a but_o as_o through_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n etc._n etc._n he_o will_v be_v clothe_v in_o that_o day_n with_o christ_n his_o righteousness_n impute_v unto_o he_o by_o god_n through_o faith_n that_o he_o may_v be_v judge_v by_o it_o and_o receive_v his_o reward_n according_a to_o the_o merit_n of_o it_o this_o righteousness_n be_v sometime_o call_v the_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n because_o by_o faith_n in_o christ_n we_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o righteousness_n sometime_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n because_o it_o be_v the_o mere_a gift_n of_o god_n who_o do_v impute_v it_o unto_o we_o through_o faith_n in_o christ_n sometime_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n because_o it_o be_v he_o and_o only_o inherent_a in_o he_o he_o will_v be_v find_v in_o that_o day_n have_v this_o righteousness_n hence_o than_o i_o observe_v that_o the_o righteousness_n whereby_o we_o be_v account_v righteous_a before_o god_n be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n or_o of_o faith_n or_o of_o god_n which_o soever_o you_o will_v make_v it_o this_o also_o the_o apostle_n have_v every_o where_o 3.24.25_o rom._n 3.24.25_o we_o be_v justify_v free_o by_o grace_n through_o the_o redemption_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n who_o god_n have_v set_v forth_o to_o be_v a_o reconciliation_n through_o faith_n in_o his_o blood_n again_o 2.16.3.11_o gal._n 2.16.3.11_o know_v that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o justify_v by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n but_o by_o the_o faith_n of_o jesus_n christ_n again_o that_o no_o man_n be_v justify_v say_v the_o apostle_n by_o the_o law_n 2.8.9_o eph._n 2.8.9_o it_o be_v evident_a for_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o faith_n and_o again_o by_o grace_n be_v you_o save_v through_o faith_n and_o that_o not_o of_o yourselves_o it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n not_o of_o work_n lest_o any_o man_n shall_v boast_v himself_o yea_o every_o where_o almost_o the_o holy_a ghost_n witness_v that_o we_o be_v account_v righteous_a before_o god_n not_o for_o our_o own_o work_n or_o desert_n but_o only_o by_o grace_n through_o faith_n for_o the_o merit_n and_o obedience_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n christ_n jesus_n this_o then_o be_v our_o righteousness_n before_o god_n that_o god_n through_o faith_n in_o christ_n jesus_n impute_v not_o our_o sin_n unto_o we_o but_o impute_v christ_n his_o righteousness_n unto_o we_o reckon_v the_o righteousness_n of_o his_o obedience_n unto_o the_o law_n unto_o we_o as_o if_o we_o have_v fulfil_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n in_o our_o flesh_n and_o for_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o suffering_n wipe_v all_o our_o sin_n out_o of_o his_o sight_n &_o remembrance_n so_o that_o christ_n his_o righteousness_n alone_o be_v our_o righteousness_n before_o god_n which_o because_o god_n do_v impute_v unto_o we_o free_o by_o his_o grace_n through_o faith_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v it_o be_v god_n that_o justifi_v god_n then_o justifi_v his_o grace_n only_o move_v he_o not_o any_o of_o our_o work_n christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n be_v the_o righteousness_n whereby_o we_o be_v justify_v faith_n be_v the_o instrument_n whereby_o only_o we_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o his_o righteousness_n i_o know_v that_o there_o be_v dog_n which_o bark_n against_o this_o truth_n affirm_v that_o the_o righteousness_n whereby_o we_o be_v justify_v be_v not_o only_o impute_v unto_o we_o but_o inherent_a in_o us._n but_o this_o one_o place_n may_v serve_v to_o descry_v this_o their_o madness_n it_o be_v of_o god_n impute_v by_o he_o unto_o we_o therefore_o not_o inherent_a in_o us._n it_o be_v through_o faith_n therefore_o not_o inherent_a in_o us._n it_o be_v through_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n therefore_o real_o inherent_a only_o in_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o our_o own_o but_o only_o by_o faith_n in_o christ_n therefore_o not_o real_o inherent_a in_o us._n if_o they_o urge_v the_o apostle_n james_n his_o authority_n to_o prove_v that_o the_o righteousness_n whereby_o we_o be_v justify_v be_v inherent_a in_o we_o because_o he_o say_v that_o a_o man_n be_v justify_v by_o work_n we_o answer_v that_o the_o apostle_n there_o speak_v not_o of_o that_o righteousness_n whereby_o man_n be_v make_v righteous_a before_o god_n but_o only_o show_v that_o by_o a_o man_n work_n he_o be_v know_v and_o declare_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n so_o that_o the_o apostle_n make_v not_o work_n in_o that_o place_n the_o cause_n but_o only_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o justification_n if_o they_o reply_v that_o it_o be_v a_o sufficient_a proof_n that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n because_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n which_o be_v a_o work_n we_o answer_v that_o justification_n be_v attribute_v to_o faith_n because_o of_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n which_o it_o receive_v not_o because_o it_o be_v a_o work_n of_o we_o for_o as_o it_o be_v a_o work_n of_o we_o so_o it_o be_v not_o without_o some_o doubt_n but_o be_v imperfect_a as_o also_o our_o knowledge_n and_o love_n be_v and_o so_o justification_n be_v not_o attribute_v unto_o it_o but_o only_o as_o it_o take_v hold_v upon_o christ_n jesus_n and_o his_o righteousness_n which_o be_v our_o perfect_a righteousness_n whatsoever_o therefore_o they_o say_v lâ—t_v we_o know_v that_o the_o righteousness_n whereby_o we_o be_v account_v righteous_a before_o life_n this_o holy_a apostle_n attain_v not_o unto_o the_o perfection_n either_o of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n or_o of_o obedience_n unto_o his_o will_n what_o perfection_n then_o can_v there_o be_v in_o any_o of_o god_n child_n in_o this_o life_n they_o say_v that_o no_o man_n indeed_o can_v attain_v to_o that_o absolute_a perfection_n either_o of_o that_o knowledge_n or_o of_o that_o righteousness_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o heaven_n but_o that_o they_o may_v attain_v unto_o such_o perfection_n as_o be_v require_v in_o this_o life_n as_o if_o either_o god_n may_v not_o require_v of_o we_o in_o this_o life_n such_o perfection_n as_o he_o give_v unto_o we_o in_o our_o creation_n or_o as_o if_o where_o such_o remnant_n of_o sin_n and_o ignorance_n be_v as_o stick_v fast_o unto_o we_o there_o can_v be_v such_o perfection_n 3.22_o gal._n 3.22_o for_o i_o demand_v have_v god_n conclude_v all_o under_o sin_n the_o apostle_n paul_n say_v so_o and_o john_n likewise_o say_v 1.8_o for_o it_o true_a it_o be_v we_o be_v often_o exhort_v to_o be_v perfect_a but_o those_o exhortation_n only_o show_v unto_o we_o what_o perfection_n shall_v be_v in_o we_o not_o what_o perfection_n be_v perfect_a his_o exhortation_n be_v indeed_o general_a unto_o all_o that_o all_o will_v think_v as_o he_o do_v touch_v the_o point_n mention_v before_o from_o verse_n 3._o to_o this_o 15._o but_o unto_o they_o principal_o as_o by_o name_n the_o admonition_n be_v most_o needful_a that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o mind_v as_o paul_n be_v as_o in_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o point_n so_o in_o the_o acknowledgement_n of_o their_o own_o imperfection_n and_o in_o the_o pursuit_n after_o perfection_n it_o follow_v and_o if_o you_o be_v otherwise_o mind_v etc._n etc._n this_o show_v that_o the_o apostle_n think_v or_o rather_o know_v that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o persuade_v all_o to_o be_v of_o the_o same_o mind_n with_o he_o in_o the_o thing_n mention_v but_o that_o some_o through_o the_o suggestion_n of_o the_o false_a teacher_n will_v think_v otherwise_o then_o he_o think_v of_o those_o point_n yet_o see_v how_o kind_o he_o deal_v with_o those_o if_o say_v he_o you_o be_v otherwise_o mind_v so_o that_o you_o do_v not_o yet_o think_v as_o i_o your_o apostle_n do_v of_o these_o point_n even_o of_o christian_a perfection_n but_o rather_o be_v of_o another_o judgement_n yet_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o as_o god_n have_v begin_v to_o reveal_v his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n unto_o you_o by_o my_o preach_n so_o he_o will_v also_o in_o his_o good_a time_n reveal_v and_o make_v know_v unto_o you_o this_o same_o thing_n wherein_o you_o now_o dissent_v in_o judgement_n from_o i_o and_o will_v not_o suffer_v you_o to_o be_v hold_v of_o this_o error_n he_o will_v i_o doubt_v not_o in_o his_o good_a time_n by_o the_o ministry_n of_o his_o servant_n through_o the_o powerful_a operation_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n open_v the_o dim_a eye_n of_o your_o dark_a understanding_n that_o you_o may_v see_v both_o that_o you_o err_v in_o this_o wherein_o you_o dissent_v from_o i_o and_o that_o this_o be_v the_o truth_n whereunto_o i_o now_o exhort_v you_o to_o gather_v then_o the_o sum_n of_o the_o apostle_n meaning_n in_o these_o word_n it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o the_o apostle_n have_v thus_o say_v i_o be_o thus_o mind_v as_o i_o have_v tell_v you_o touch_v my_o own_o righteousness_n which_o be_v by_o work_n touch_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v through_o faith_n and_o touch_v christian_a perfection_n in_o general_n let_v we_o therefore_o even_o all_o of_o we_o not_o only_o those_o which_o be_v but_o babe_n in_o christ_n or_o of_o the_o vulgar_a sort_n but_o even_o as_o many_o as_o either_o think_v ourselves_o or_o be_v either_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n or_o in_o holy_a obedience_n but_o they_o rather_o that_o acknowledge_v that_o they_o have_v not_o yet_o attain_v unto_o perfection_n do_v renounce_v all_o thing_n without_o christ_n rejoice_v only_o in_o christ_n &_o feel_v a_o sense_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o virtue_n of_o his_o resurrection_n in_o themselves_o than_o i_o observe_v what_o christian_a perfection_n be_v namely_o a_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n whereby_o we_o renounce_v the_o flesh_n rejoice_v in_o christ_n and_o have_v such_o a_o sense_n ourselves_o to_o that_o which_o be_v before_o and_o follow_v hard_a towards_o the_o mark_n for_o the_o prize_n of_o the_o high_a call_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n so_o that_o unto_o christian_a perfection_n there_o be_v four_o thing_n necessary_o requisite_a the_o first_o whereof_o be_v justification_n by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n impute_v to_o we_o through_o faith_n without_o work_n for_o so_o only_o be_v we_o perfect_a if_o we_o be_v find_v in_o christ_n jesus_n not_o have_v our_o own_o righteousness_n which_o be_v by_o work_n but_o that_o which_o be_v through_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n even_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n through_o faith_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n tell_v the_o colossian_n in_o the_o next_o epistle_n that_o he_o and_o timothy_n preach_v and_o teach_v every_o man_n in_o all_o wisdom_n 1.28.2.10_o col._n 1.28.2.10_o that_o they_o may_v present_v every_o man_n perfect_a in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o in_o the_o next_o chapter_n he_o tell_v they_o that_o they_o be_v complete_a in_o christ_n in_o who_o dwell_v all_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n bodily_a both_o which_o place_n plain_o show_v that_o be_v perfect_a but_o have_v some_o that_o fear_v he_o and_o favour_v the_o truth_n such_o a_o one_o be_v joseph_n in_o pharaoh_n his_o court_n jonathan_n in_o saules_n court_n obadiah_n in_o ahabs_n court_n and_o ebedmelech_n in_o zedekiahs_n court._n and_o such_o be_v his_o mercy_n that_o he_o will_v such_o be_v his_o power_n that_o he_o can_v and_o such_o his_o goodness_n that_o he_o do_v cause_n light_a to_o shine_v out_o of_o darkness_n and_o beget_v child_n in_o the_o faith_n where_o the_o truth_n be_v most_o oppugned_a which_o may_v teach_v we_o many_o good_a lesson_n as_o first_o not_o to_o despair_v but_o that_o where_o the_o truth_n be_v most_o oppugned_a there_o the_o lord_n have_v some_o that_o fear_v he_o and_o worship_v he_o in_o truth_n no_o place_n more_o unlike_a to_o have_v friend_n unto_o the_o truth_n than_o nero_n his_o court_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v such_o and_o therefore_o we_o may_v hope_v that_o even_o there_o where_o antichrist_n usurp_v his_o tyrannâ—e_n the_o lord_n have_v his_o child_n which_o bow_v not_o the_o knee_n to_o baal_n only_o we_o be_v to_o acknowledge_v the_o glorious_a mercy_n and_o power_n of_o the_o lord_n therein_o that_o so_o wonderful_o deal_v for_o his_o child_n and_o provide_v for_o his_o own_o glory_n second_o this_o may_v serve_v to_o condemn_v we_o of_o great_a backwardlinesse_n in_o a_o christian_a resolution_n of_o a_o religious_a profession_n in_o nero_n his_o court_n be_v great_a danger_n of_o present_a death_n and_o cruel_a torture_n unto_o so_o many_o as_o shall_v embrace_v and_o profess_v the_o truth_n of_o christ_n jesus_n there_o the_o same_o paul_n in_o prison_n and_o many_o continual_o butcher_v and_o kill_v for_o a_o good_a profession_n yet_o there_o be_v such_o as_o embrace_v the_o truth_n in_o their_o heart_n and_o profess_v it_o with_o their_o mouth_n and_o how_o shall_v not_o this_o condemn_v our_o irresolute_a resolution_n of_o a_o religious_a profession_n we_o be_v in_o no_o peril_n of_o death_n or_o of_o bond_n or_o imprisonment_n for_o make_v a_o bold_a profession_n of_o christian_a religion_n nay_o it_o be_v our_o honour_n with_o our_o most_o gracious_a prince_n constant_o to_o maintain_v the_o truth_n against_o error_n and_o superstition_n and_o yet_o so_o cold_a be_v we_o a_o great_a many_o of_o we_o in_o religion_n as_o that_o a_o man_n can_v tell_v what_o we_o be_v papist_n or_o protestant_n and_o so_o freeze_v as_o that_o a_o man_n will_v take_v a_o many_o of_o we_o rather_o to_o be_v enemy_n than_o friend_n unto_o religion_n either_o we_o be_v afraid_a and_o dare_v not_o make_v that_o profession_n which_o we_o shall_v for_o fear_n of_o a_o day_n or_o else_o to_o serve_v the_o time_n we_o make_v show_v of_o one_o and_o be_v indeed_o another_o and_o so_o can_v make_v a_o good_a profession_n howsoever_o it_o be_v so_o it_o be_v that_o many_o of_o we_o be_v of_o no_o resolution_n in_o religion_n well_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o but_o though_o we_o be_v in_o nero_n his_o court_n we_o shall_v make_v a_o good_a profession_n and_o though_o there_o be_v no_o way_n for_o we_o but_o to_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o hot_a fiery_a furnace_n yet_o shall_v imperfection_n a_o way_n be_v make_v for_o we_o unto_o perfection_n i_o wish_v we_o have_v all_o of_o we_o learned_a to_o cast_v down_o every_o imagination_n of_o conceit_a perfection_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o acknowledge_v in_o the_o spirit_n of_o meekness_n that_o we_o have_v not_o yet_o attain_v unto_o such_o perfection_n but_o that_o we_o may_v well_o in_o some_o thing_n submit_v our_o judgement_n unto_o other_o among_o the_o prophet_n and_o preacher_n of_o the_o word_n this_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v that_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o lesson_n we_o will_v be_v precedent_n unto_o other_o that_o we_o will_v beat_v down_o every_o high_a conceit_n of_o knowledge_n in_o ourselves_o that_o we_o will_v submit_v ourselves_o and_o that_o we_o speak_v unto_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o prophet_n that_o we_o will_v not_o easy_o and_o hasty_o broach_v abroad_o every_o thing_n that_o we_o seem_v unto_o ourselves_o to_o know_v that_o we_o will_v not_o presume_v to_o understand_v above_o that_o be_v meet_v to_o understand_v that_o we_o will_v not_o by_o our_o knowledge_n destroy_v the_o faith_n or_o wound_v the_o weak_a conscience_n of_o any_o and_o that_o we_o will_v not_o set_v on_o sale_n as_o it_o be_v our_o knowledge_n unto_o the_o vain_a curiosity_n of_o anâ—_n itch_a humour_n whatsoever_o pity_v it_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v wed_v ourselves_o in_o like_v of_o any_o opinion_n whereof_o it_o may_v â—ustly_o be_v doubt_v whether_o it_o be_v sound_a that_o we_o shall_v count_v 〈◊〉_d a_o disparagement_n unto_o we_o to_o yield_v in_o any_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v â—â—ken_v a_o like_n unto_o that_o we_o shall_v strive_v by_o our_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n to_o defend_v every_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v say_v because_o â—ee_n have_v say_v it_o and_o think_v ourselves_o able_a to_o defend_v it_o if_o any_o â—ans_n knowledge_n thus_o puff_n he_o up_o he_o know_v nothing_o yet_o â—s_v he_o ought_v to_o know_v but_o as_o it_o he_o that_o say_v i_o know_v he_o 2.4_o 1_o joh._n 2.4_o and_o keep_v not_o his_o commandment_n be_v a_o liar_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v not_o in_o he_o to_o know_v christ_n be_v â—ot_n to_o be_v able_a to_o talk_v of_o christ_n and_o to_o have_v this_o contemplative_a and_o know_a knowledge_n whereby_o we_o be_v able_a to_o discourse_v what_o the_o scripture_n do_v witness_n of_o he_o but_o to_o know_v â—im_n be_v to_o have_v such_o a_o feeling_n and_o sweet_a experience_n of_o he_o and_o â—is_n mercy_n unto_o we_o in_o our_o own_o soul_n as_o that_o it_o both_o work_v 〈◊〉_d we_o all_o godly_a comfort_n and_o stir_v we_o up_o unto_o all_o holy_a obedience_n see_v then_o you_o that_o say_v never_o more_o knowledge_n but_o neâ—er_o worse_a live_n there_o have_v be_v i_o doubt_v not_o as_o bad_a liâ—ing_n and_o as_o little_a knowledge_n as_o now_o there_o be_v but_o see_v whither_o â—ny_o more_o knowledge_n now_o then_o needs_o our_o want_n of_o obedience_n argue_v our_o want_n of_o knowledge_n we_o have_v not_o yet_o attain_v to_o perfection_n in_o either_o but_o we_o have_v need_v to_o mend_v both_o â—nd_v if_o we_o will_v grow_v in_o obedience_n let_v we_o cast_v away_o all_o imagination_n of_o knowledge_n enough_o and_o let_v we_o grow_v daily_o more_o and_o â—ore_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n â—n_n a_o word_n conceit_n of_o perfection_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n â—akes_v we_o presume_v too_o much_o of_o that_o we_o have_v and_o make_v that_o â—ee_n seek_v not_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v therefore_o let_v we_o cast_v down_o â—uery_n imagination_n of_o any_o such_o conceit_a perfection_n and_o let_v â—s_n meek_o acknowledge_v our_o want_n and_o imperfection_n and_o â—et_o this_o suffice_v to_o be_v speak_v touch_v this_o first_o member_n wherein_o the_o apostle_n repeat_v his_o acknowledgement_n of_o hâ—â—_n want_v of_o perfection_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o virtue_n of_o his_o resurrection_n but_o
