in_o that_o place_n of_o hosea_n be_v describe_v by_o our_o take_a root_n downward_o and_o sometime_o a_o man_n be_v say_v to_o grow_v when_o he_o be_v more_o spiritual_a belove_a weak_a christian_n look_v altogether_o at_o the_o intenseness_n of_o their_o affectiction_n and_o if_o they_o do_v not_o find_v their_o affection_n so_o intense_a as_o they_o be_v before_o than_o they_o break_v forth_o and_o say_v oh_o now_o i_o be_o decline_v and_o now_o i_o be_o decay_v and_o i_o have_v lose_v my_o first_o love_n whereas_o there_o be_v a_o growth_n in_o regard_n of_o extension_n as_o a_o man_n or_o beast_n he_o may_v attain_v to_o his_o full_a talness_n and_o after_o that_o he_o may_v batten_v and_o spread_v more_o so_o in_o grace_n a_o man_n gracc_fw-la may_v spread_v more_o afterward_o and_o yet_o possible_o not_o so_o intense_a in_o regard_n of_o some_o affection_n as_o it_o be_v at_o the_o first_o now_o a_o fountain_n or_o spring_n that_o have_v but_o one_o stream_n and_o afterward_o that_o one_o stream_n be_v divide_v in_o many_o stream_n if_o a_o unskilful_a man_n look_v upon_o it_o he_o say_v how_o come_v this_o to_o pass_v that_o this_o fountain_n be_v dry_v up_o channel_n afterward_o it_o be_v divide_v into_o more_o stream_n and_o it_o spreadâ—_n more_o yet_o notwithstanding_o those_o that_o be_v wâ—â—k_a because_o they_o do_v not_o find_v so_o full_a a_o bee_n do_v not_o regard_v the_o colour_n of_o the_o flower_n or_o the_o smell_n of_o the_o flower_n but_o the_o bee_n regard_v the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o flower_n so_o at_o our_o first_o come_v into_o the_o way_n of_o god_n than_o we_o look_v at_o the_o colour_n and_o how_o they_o appear_v but_o afterward_o the_o more_o grace_n you_o have_v the_o more_o sweetness_n you_o find_v and_o if_o you_o find_v more_o sweetness_n certain_o you_o be_v grow_v more_o again_o if_o that_o you_o be_v more_o able_a to_o turn_v from_o the_o exercise_n of_o one_o grace_n to_o another_o and_o of_o one_o duty_n unto_o another_o than_o you_o be_v this_o argue_v you_o be_v grow_v if_o you_o be_v able_a to_o mingle_v grace_n together_o a_o weak_a christian_a be_v all_o for_o one_o work_n humiliation_n for_o sin_n commit_v and_o it_o be_v true_a we_o ought_v to_o be_v much_o humble_v i_o say_v a_o weak_a christian_a be_v all_o for_o one_o work_n but_o the_o strong_a you_o grow_v the_o more_o you_o man_n may_v sing_v one_o tune_n but_o the_o more_o a_o man_n grow_v in_o skill_n the_o more_o he_o will_v be_v able_a ready_o to_o turn_v from_o one_o tune_n to_o another_o so_o in_o grace_n a_o man_n may_v be_v able_a to_o mingle_v grace_n more_o and_o therefore_o our_o growth_n be_v so_o describe_v as_o you_o shall_v hear_v by_o and_o by_o in_o that_o of_o peter_n add_v unto_o your_o faith_n virtue_n and_o to_o virtue_n knowledge_n etc._n etc._n again_o if_o you_o be_v able_a to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n more_o without_o whip_n or_o rod_n or_o without_o spur_n it_o argue_v satisfaction_n for_o christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n leave_v their_o ship_n and_o net_n to_o follow_v christ_n we_o second_o do_v leave_n or_o forsake_v a_o worldly_a interest_n by_o the_o will_n of_o other_o when_o through_o their_o oppression_n or_o persecution_n we_o be_v deprive_v of_o our_o own_o commodity_n and_o satisfaction_n for_o christ_n and_o that_o be_v call_v suffering_n our_o saviour_n christ_n here_o have_v respect_n to_o both_o and_o in_o both_o these_o respect_v its_o true_a that_o whosoever_o do_v leave_v any_o worldly_a interest_n for_o christ_n and_o his_o namesake_n shall_v be_v sure_a to_o be_v well_o reward_v but_o then_o still_o to_o clear_v it_o quest_n what_o be_v it_o to_o leave_v any_o worldly_a interest_n for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n answ_n the_o name_n of_o christ_n be_v that_o whereby_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o as_o the_o name_n of_o a_o man_n be_v that_o whereby_o a_o man_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o a_o man_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o name_n so_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o name_n that_o whereby_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o that_o be_v his_o name_n now_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o by_o the_o gospel_n by_o his_o spirit_n he_o be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o for_o as_o god_n the_o father_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o christ_n his_o son_n so_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o spirit_n he_o shall_v take_v of_o i_o and_o show_v it_o unto_o you_o such_o christ_n and_o upon_o this_o account_n therefore_o when_o a_o man_n do_v suffer_v any_o thing_n for_o the_o spirit_n or_o for_o any_o work_n of_o the_o holyghost_n upon_o his_o heart_n or_o soul_n than_o he_o be_v say_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o upon_o this_o score_n it_o be_v that_o john_n the_o baptist_n be_v account_v a_o martyr_n of_o christ_n and_o enroll_v among_o the_o martyr_n of_o christ_n john_n the_o baptist_n if_o you_o look_v into_o the_o story_n do_v not_o suffer_v for_o any_o gospel-truth_n john_n the_o
baptist_n suffer_v for_o this_o that_o he_o reprehend_v herod_n adulterous_a course_n true_a but_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n put_v he_o upon_o it_o and_o therefore_o be_v stir_v up_o thereunto_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n he_o be_v say_v to_o suffer_v upon_o the_o account_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o i_o say_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n be_v that_o whereby_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o and_o when_o a_o man_n do_v therefore_o suffer_v for_o any_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n than_o he_o be_v say_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o every_o truth_n be_v not_o a_o gospel-truth_n it_o be_v possible_a that_o a_o man_n may_v suffer_v for_o a_o truth_n and_o yet_o not_o suffer_v for_o a_o gospel-truth_n but_o look_v when_o a_o man_n do_v suffer_v for_o a_o truth_n which_o be_v proper_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n than_o he_o be_v say_v indeed_o to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n whereby_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v will_v you_o therefore_o know_v when_o a_o man_n may_v be_v say_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n take_v all_o together_o thus_o when_o a_o man_n do_v suffer_v for_o that_o whereby_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o than_o he_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n christ_n be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o spirit_n he_o be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o gospel_n look_v therefore_o when_o a_o man_n do_v suffer_v for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v proper_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o suffer_v for_o the_o truth_n which_o be_v proper_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n then_o plain_o he_o be_v say_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o whosoever_o do_v so_o shall_v be_v well_o reward_v and_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n quest._n 2._o and_o then_o second_o what_o be_v this_o reward_n that_o those_o shall_v have_v that_o do_v leave_v any_o worldly_a interest_n for_o christ_n or_o for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o wherein_o do_v that_o consist_v answ_n the_o reward_n be_v great_a and_o it_o will_v appear_v to_o be_v very_o great_a if_o you_o look_v into_o and_o consider_v this_o text_n and_o scripture_n well_o for_o this_o reward_n it_o do_v relate_v unto_o the_o apostle_n or_o it_o relate_v unto_o we_o to_o all_o other_o that_o â—o_o leave_v any_o worldly_a interest_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o christ_n now_o as_o for_o the_o apostle_n their_o reward_n be_v here_o set_v down_o that_o they_o shall_v sit_v with_o christ_n on_o his_o throne_n when_o christ_n sit_v on_o his_o throne_n the_o apostle_n shall_v sit_v on_o twelve_o throne_n judge_v the_o twelve_o tribe_n of_o israel_n for_o the_o clear_n of_o this_o only_o these_o two_o thing_n 1._o what_o it_o be_v for_o the_o apostle_n to_o sit_v on_o twelve_o throne_n with_o christ_n judge_v the_o twelve_o tribe_n and_o 2._o whether_o be_v there_o any_o degree_n of_o glory_n see_v that_o the_o apostle_n here_o seem_v to_o have_v a_o degree_n of_o glory_n give_v they_o above_o other_o man_n and_o as_o for_o the_o first_o brief_o thus_o when_o christ_n shall_v sit_v upon_o the_o throne_n they_o be_v say_v to_o sit_v on_o twelve_o throne_n judge_v the_o twelve_o tribe_n to_o note_v their_o communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o christ_n in_o his_o judicial_a kingdom_n but_o whereas_o the_o saint_n shall_v judge_v the_o world_n it_o be_v true_a the_o saint_n shall_v judge_v the_o world_n and_o shall_v have_v communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o christ_n in_o that_o great_a work_n of_o judge_v the_o world_n the_o apostle_n they_o shall_v sit_v as_o assessor_n on_o that_o day_n at_o the_o great_a assize_n the_o apostle_n shall_v sit_v on_o the_o bench_n as_o assessor_n or_o as_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n by_o the_o judge_n and_o so_o shall_v have_v communion_n with_o he_o it_o be_v true_a that_o all_o the_o saint_n shall_v judge_v the_o world_n by_o their_o life_n and_o by_o their_o conversation_n but_o the_o twelve_o apostle_n shall_v judge_v the_o world_n by_o their_o doctrine_n not_o only_o by_o consent_v to_o the_o judgement_n of_o christ_n as_o all_o the_o saint_n shall_v do_v but_o in_o rom._n 2._o 16._o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o day_n when_o god_n shall_v judge_v the_o secret_n of_o man_n by_o jesus_n christ_n according_a to_o my_o gospel_n so_o that_o this_o be_v all_o that_o be_v here_o mean_v that_o in_o the_o grand_a and_o great_a assize_n that_o kingdom_n and_o glory_n of_o christ_n the_o twelve_o apostle_n they_o shall_v have_v a_o special_a fellowship_n and_o communion_n with_o he_o above_o other_o quest._n but_o then_o be_v there_o any_o degree_n of_o glory_n for_o it_o will_v seem_v here_o that_o the_o apostle_n have_v some_o degree_n of_o glory_n above_o other_o man_n be_v there_o any_o degree_n of_o glory_n answ_n yes_o sure_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o glory_n for_o as_o one_o star_n differ_v from_o another_o star_n in_o glory_n so_o shall_v the_o resurrection_n be_v say_v the_o apostle_n but_o though_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o glory_n all_o that_o glory_n that_o the_o saint_n shall_v have_v in_o heaven_n shall_v be_v of_o one_o piece_n for_o there_o be_v no_o envy_n there_o envy_n there_o be_v none_o in_o heaven_n and_o whence_o come_v envy_n we_o may_v see_v that_o among_o our_o child_n or_o among_o man_n if_o you_o have_v four_o or_o five_o cchildren_n and_o make_v they_o clothes_n if_o they_o be_v clothes_n make_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n they_o do_v not_o envy_v though_o one_o clothes_n be_v big_a than_o another_o but_o if_o they_o be_v not_o make_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n or_o my_o brother_n clothes_n be_v better_a than_o i_o or_o my_o sister_n clothes_n be_v better_a than_o i_o but_o when_o they_o be_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n they_o do_v not_o envy_v so_o if_o you_o invite_v twenty_o man_n to_o dinner_n and_o they_o all_o eat_v of_o the_o same_o dish_n there_o be_v no_o envy_n but_o if_o you_o have_v a_o mean_a dish_n for_o those_o that_o sit_v at_o the_o low_a end_n of_o the_o table_n say_v they_o indeed_o we_o sit_v at_o such_o a_o table_n but_o we_o have_v a_o mean_a dish_n and_o so_o they_o envy_v but_o if_o one_o man_n eat_v more_o than_o another_o yet_o if_o they_o eat_v of_o the_o same_o dish_n there_o be_v no_o envy_n now_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v no_o envy_n for_o though_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o glory_n yet_o it_o shall_v be_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n and_o all_o of_o a_o dish_n but_o now_o though_o this_o glory_n in_o heaven_n shall_v be_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n and_o though_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n yet_o i_o do_v think_v this_o scripture_n to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n for_o there_o be_v no_o judge_v of_o the_o twelve_o tribe_n in_o heaven_n christ_n shall_v then_o at_o last_o give_v up_o his_o kingdom_n unto_o the_o father_n this_o be_v speak_v therefore_o of_o a_o glorious_a judgement_n on_o this_o side_n heaven_n and_o it_o be_v here_o promise_v unto_o the_o apostle_n above_o all_o other_o as_o a_o reward_n suitable_a to_o they_o for_o they_o be_v twelve_o preach_v to_o the_o twelve_o tribe_n some_o receive_v the_o gospel_n some_o do_v not_o and_o therefore_o here_o be_v a_o reward_n propound_v suitable_a unto_o they_o but_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o reward_n that_o concern_v the_o apostle_n by_o the_o way_n but_o than_o it_o will_v be_v say_v what_o be_v the_o reward_n that_o do_v concern_v all_o those_o that_o leave_v any_o worldly_a interest_n for_o christ_n or_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n why_o that_o do_v either_o relate_v unto_o this_o life_n or_o unto_o the_o life_n that_o be_v to_o come_v it_o relate_v unto_o this_o life_n and_o then_o say_v our_o saviour_n there_o be_v a_o hundred-fold_n look_v whatsoever_o that_o be_v that_o you_o do_v lay_v out_o for_o christ_n here_o in_o this_o life_n you_o shall_v receive_v a_o hundred-fold_n for_o it_o even_o in_o this_o life_n here_o be_v a_o great_a matter_n and_o it_o be_v well_o worth_a our_o consider_v look_v whatsoever_o you_o do_v lay_v out_o for_o
