scandalous_a accusation_n be_v very_o apt_a to_o deny_v truth_n but_o suppose_v that_o colonel_n okey_n shall_v question_v any_o of_o these_o truth_n herein_o contain_v so_o far_o as_o it_o concern_v himself_o than_o i_o know_v his_o own_o conscience_n will_v accuse_v he_o and_o bear_v witness_n against_o he_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o fly_v in_o the_o very_a face_n of_o he_o for_o it_o and_o this_o very_a book_n of_o i_o will_v prove_v to_o be_v a_o devil_n to_o torment_v he_o as_o bad_a as_o seven_o devil_n but_o suppose_v he_o shall_v think_v to_o carry_v it_o off_o with_o a_o high_a hand_n as_o he_o know_v how_o to_o do_v it_o pretty_a well_o and_o call_v i_o knave_n for_o my_o labour_n as_o once_o he_o call_v captain_n mercer_n and_o tell_v he_o he_o be_v trouble_v with_o a_o company_n your_o bear_v it_o and_o that_o truth_n may_v be_v manifest_v it_o will_v cause_v you_o to_o have_v some_o trouble_n of_o mind_n and_o auxiity_n of_o spirit_n for_o these_o my_o suffering_n your_o conscience_n will_v tell_v you_o whether_o you_o prosecute_v this_o design_n against_o i_o for_o some_o by-sinister-end_n as_o to_o advance_v self-interest_n or_o out_o of_o sure_a zeal_n true_o for_o my_o part_n in_o do_v not_o appear_v to_o i_o that_o your_o do_v it_o our_o of_o pure_a zeal_n it_o savour_v to_o little_a of_o a_o spirit_n right_o qualify_v but_o if_o it_o be_v out_o of_o pure_a zeal_n true_o such_o zeal_n must_v be_v burn_v up_o or_o at_o least_o cleanse_v and_o purify_v from_o the_o dross_n for_o there_o be_v abundance_n of_o mixture_n you_o say_v that_o i_o and_o such_o other_o be_v the_o occasion_n of_o these_o war_n true_o for_o my_o part_n it_o do_v appear_v to_o i_o that_o it_o arise_v from_o pride_n and_o selfeloftynesse_n and_o not_o from_o a_o humble_a and_o contrite_a heart_n for_o ambition_n carry_v a_o great_a stroke_n and_o from_o whence_o come_v war_n be_v it_o not_o from_o your_o lust_n you_o lay_v that_o every_o honest_a man_n will_v be_v as_o good_a as_o his_o word_n and_o charge_v i_o for_o not_o make_v good_a my_o engagement_n which_o be_v to_o lay_v down_o my_o commission_n and_o true_o for_o my_o part_n i_o real_o intend_v it_o and_o be_v against_o my_o soldier_n petition_v the_o general_n know_v of_o the_o suffering_n of_o captain_n barrington_n man_n who_o lie_v in_o london_n till_o they_o have_v spend_v their_o horse_n and_o antichristian_a darkness_n by_o reason_n of_o a_o antichristian_a power_n of_o darkness_n reign_v among_o we_o who_o labour_v to_o divert_v that_o current_n or_o stream_n issue_v or_o flow_v from_o that_o most_o sweet_a and_o precious_a fountain_n of_o truth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n out_o of_o its_o proper_a channel_n into_o a_o filthy_a loathsome_a dirty_a muddy_a channel_n of_o humane_a invention_n and_o tradition_n cry_v down_o glorious_a truth_n to_o be_v error_n heresy_n and_o blasphemy_n as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o truth_n declare_v but_o such_o as_o they_o apprehend_v to_o be_v so_o when_o as_o there_o be_v a_o incapacity_n of_o apprehend_v it_o be_v carnal_a wisdom_n therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o pass_v under_o that_o notion_n especial_o by_o such_o who_o be_v account_v minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o be_v no_o less_o than_o deceiver_n and_o be_v deceive_v have_v a_o form_n of_o godliness_n but_o deny_v the_o power_n thereof_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v uphold_v by_o the_o power_n of_o earthly_a magistrate_n who_o carry_v on_o their_o work_n in_o persecute_v the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lie_v but_o how_o shall_v suffer_v persecusion_n either_o by_o false_a accusation_n imprisonment_n or_o both_o which_o i_o myself_o be_v one_o of_o the_o least_o and_o mean_a of_o god_n servant_n have_v my_o share_n not_o long_o since_o at_o the_o town_n of_o taunton_n in_o the_o county_n of_o summerset_n be_v tals_o accuse_v by_o one_o cox_n of_o no_o less_o than_o blasphemy_n imprison_v by_o the_o magistrate_n bind_v over_o with_o two_o surity_n to_o answer_v it_o at_o the_o assize_n and_o there_o indict_v for_o blasphemy_n and_o the_o indictment_n prosecute_v with_o as_o much_o violence_n as_o envy_v and_o malice_n itself_o can_v imagine_v render_v i_o so_o odious_a as_o not_o fit_a to_o live_v upon_o the_o earth_n as_o if_o they_o themselves_o be_v man_n of_o such_o infallible_a judgement_n that_o there_o can_v be_v no_o truth_n hold_v forth_o by_o i_o be_v a_o poor_a weak_a despise_a instrument_n but_o what_o shall_v come_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o their_o apprehesion_n when_o as_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o hide_a mystery_n i_o thank_v thou_o o_o father_n lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n that_o thou_o have_v hide_v these_o thing_n from_o the_o wise_a and_o prudent_a and_o have_v reveal_v they_o unto_o babe_n etc._n etc._n the_o lord_n who_o be_v the_o searcher_n of_o all_o heart_n can_v plead_v my_o innocency_n towards_o man_n and_o my_o integrity_n to_o the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n who_o give_v into_o i_o that_o word_n of_o truth_n by_o his_o spirit_n which_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n in_o the_o manifestation_n thereof_o and_o sweet_o carry_v i_o on_o in_o the_o discovery_n of_o that_o truth_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o grace_n be_v it_o speak_v with_o that_o spirit_n of_o boldness_n and_o undauntednesse_n of_o spirit_n that_o my_o adversary_n dare_v not_o look_v truth_n in_o the_o face_n to_o dispute_v those_o point_n with_o i_o before_o the_o magistrate_n neither_o indeed_o will_v they_o admit_v of_o any_o dispute_n but_o place_v he_o and_o so_o we_o break_v of_o our_o discourse_n for_o that_o time_n but_o it_o seem_v to_o i_o that_o they_o be_v somewhat_o trouble_v at_o it_o now_o the_o next_o time_n we_o meet_v together_o we_o have_v some_o far_a discourse_n touch_v ordinance_n and_o to_o my_o think_n before_o we_o part_v they_o be_v very_o well_o satisfy_v for_o we_o part_v upon_o very_o fair_a term_n and_o i_o go_v up_o into_o my_o chamber_n where_o i_o be_v not_o long_o before_o i_o have_v some_o thought_n of_o write_v a_o epistle_n to_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n and_o so_o call_v for_o a_o pen_n joke_n and_o paper_n and_o begin_v to_o write_v but_o before_o i_o have_v write_v three_o line_n they_o come_v to_o i_o again_o and_o i_o tell_v they_o what_o i_o be_v about_o and_o that_o i_o be_v write_v a_o epistle_n to_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n that_o be_v under_o several_a dispensation_n or_o ministration_n and_o so_o fall_v into_o discourse_n again_o spend_v some_o time_n in_o it_o and_o all_o this_o time_n they_o be_v very_o merry_a and_o pleasant_a with_o i_o in_o so_o much_o that_o i_o can_v not_o conceive_v they_o have_v any_o prejudice_n against_o i_o or_o any_o design_n to_o advance_v their_o own_o interest_n which_o i_o shall_v refer_v to_o you_o to_o judge_v and_o so_o we_o part_v for_o that_o night_n and_o go_v to_o bed_n and_o the_o next_o morning_n i_o write_v the_o former_a part_n of_o this_o epistle_n and_o show_v it_o to_o they_o but_o it_o do_v appear_v to_o i_o that_o it_o be_v not_o well_o resent_v by_o they_o for_o in_o a_o very_a short_a time_n after_o they_o make_v some_o complaint_n to_o colonel_n okey_n of_o some_o strange_a point_n which_o i_o shall_v hold_v as_o they_o say_v which_o occasion_v some_o dispute_n among_o we_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o one_o capt._n smith_n and_o other_o now_o the_o colonel_n meet_v i_o at_o bedford_n with_o some_o other_o officer_n of_o his_o regiment_n tell_v i_o that_o he_o have_v hear_v of_o some_o strange_a corporal_a or_o temporal_a death_n yet_o the_o spirit_n retain_v its_o first_o principle_n and_o return_n to_o god_n that_o give_v it_o and_o spritual_o it_o continue_v and_o remain_v a_o branch_n of_o that_o royal_a stock_n for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o neither_o life_n nor_o death_n nor_o thing_n present_a nor_o thing_n to_o come_v shall_v be_v able_a to_o separate_v we_o from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n so_o that_o here_o we_o see_v that_o this_o be_v that_o spiritual_a union_n and_o oneness_n not_o that_o the_o body_n be_v the_o head_n or_o
