spirit_n universal_o but_o if_o he_o say_v he_o mean_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o enthusiasm_n as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o primitive_a time_n but_o as_o it_o be_v now_o in_o the_o follow_a age_n since_o the_o true_a divine_a spririt_n of_o enthusiasm_n do_v universal_o cease_v or_o expire_v to_o this_o i_o answer_v it_o be_v more_o than_o he_o have_v prove_v or_o can_v prove_v that_o the_o true_a spirit_n of_o divine_a enthusiasm_n have_v universal_o cease_v among_o christian_n and_o as_o for_o his_o reason_n or_o proof_n i_o hope_v with_o god_n assistance_n sufficient_o to_o discover_v their_o weakness_n and_o invalidity_n and_o that_o he_o lay_v a_o too_o weak_a and_o unsteady_a foundation_n for_o so_o great_a and_o weighty_a superstructure_n but_o how_o this_o author_n presume_v to_o exorcise_v the_o spirit_n of_o enthusiasm_n without_o the_o least_o measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o divine_a enthusiasm_n i_o be_o at_o a_o loss_n to_o understand_v for_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o enthusiasm_n be_v such_o a_o devil_n as_o he_o suppose_v it_o general_o to_o be_v how_o can_v it_o be_v exorcise_v or_o cast_v out_o but_o by_o a_o measure_n of_o the_o divine_a spirit_n of_o enthusiasm_n for_o the_o author_n will_v ready_o as_o i_o suppose_v acknowledge_v that_o all_o the_o exorcist_n in_o the_o apostle_n time_n who_o have_v power_n to_o exorcise_v and_o cast_v out_o evil_a spiritsâ—_n be_v enthusiastical_o inspire_v so_o that_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n inspire_v they_o as_o be_v the_o strong_a they_o do_v cast_v out_o evil_a spirit_n who_o be_v the_o weak_a but_o if_o the_o author_n think_v that_o without_o some_o divine_a enthusiasm_n or_o inspiration_n he_o can_v cast_v out_o or_o exorcise_v any_o devil_n or_o unclean_a spirit_n only_o by_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o part_n or_o humane_a spirit_n or_o bare_o name_v the_o word_n of_o scripture_n and_o of_o jesus_n and_o paul_n let_v he_o call_v to_o mind_n and_o consider_v prophecy_n etc._n etc._n but_o these_o sort_n of_o gift_n say_v he_o agree_v in_o this_o that_o they_o be_v supernatural_a and_o free_o give_v by_o god_n to_o man_n this_o distinction_n bring_v by_o the_o author_n i_o willing_o own_o and_o acknowledge_v but_o the_o thing_n that_o remain_v for_o he_o to_o prove_v be_v that_o no_o sort_n of_o immediate_a divine_a revelation_n and_o inspiration_n and_o immediate_a divine_a teach_n be_v any_o of_o those_o common_a and_o ordinary_a gift_n give_v free_o of_o god_n to_o all_o true_a and_o sincere_a christian_n now_o that_o the_o inspiration_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v one_o of_o these_o common_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n do_v plain_o appear_v from_o the_o common_a prayer_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n according_a to_o this_o very_a inspiration_n with_o what_o he_o do_v expect_v and_o wait_v for_o after_o death_n so_o as_o the_o high_a attainment_n of_o divine_a knowledge_n by_o revelation_n or_o inspiration_n belong_v to_o this_o life_n be_v but_o as_o the_o attainment_n of_o child_n in_o comparison_n with_o what_o the_o saint_n be_v to_o expect_v after_o death_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v but_o whereas_o the_o author_n think_v that_o the_o high_a revelation_n give_v in_o this_o life_n be_v but_o by_o symbolical_a representation_n upon_o the_o fancy_n as_o in_o a_o glass_n he_o be_v much_o mistake_v there_o be_v a_o revelation_n of_o god_n which_o god_n please_v at_o time_n to_o give_v to_o his_o child_n far_o beyond_o all_o symbolical_a representation_n or_o similitude_n of_o thing_n whereby_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o the_o pure_a glory_n of_o god_n be_v see_v and_o enjoy_v by_o the_o high_a and_o noble_a faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v a_o earnest_n and_o first_o fruit_n of_o eternal_a life_n nor_o be_v the_o author_n more_o dexstrous_a in_o expound_v all_o that_o diversity_n of_o gift_n mention_v 1_o cor._n 12.4_o 8_o 9_o 10._o to_o have_v be_v the_o miraculous_a and_o joint_o on_o those_o who_o have_v they_o or_o not_o at_o all_o whereas_o the_o gift_n mention_v here_o be_v give_v some_o to_o one_o and_o some_o to_o another_o but_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v although_o the_o gift_n here_o mention_v in_o the_o forego_n verse_n be_v not_o the_o save_a universal_a gift_n mention_v by_o he_o which_o be_v give_v to_o every_o one_o of_o the_o faithful_a yet_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o therefore_o they_o be_v all_o miraculous_a and_o extraordinary_a for_o some_o of_o they_o may_v be_v of_o a_o three_o and_o middle_a sort_n to_o wit_n give_v in_o all_o proceed_v from_o one_o spirit_n so_o that_o it_o may_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v say_v of_o they_o of_o all_o now_o there_o be_v diversity_n of_o gift_n but_o the_o same_o spirit_n and_o the_o best_a of_o these_o gift_n be_v faith_n hope_n and_o love_n and_o the_o great_a of_o these_o be_v love_n or_o charity_n and_o thus_o i_o have_v answer_v to_o every_o thing_n that_o seem_v material_a in_o his_o sermon_n to_o prove_v that_o divine_a inspiration_n which_o he_o call_v enthusiasm_n be_v cease_v in_o the_o church_n and_o though_o i_o have_v not_o observe_v strict_o the_o method_n of_o his_o sermon_n so_o as_o to_o answer_v to_o every_o thing_n in_o his_o order_n because_o the_o nature_n of_o my_o answer_n require_v to_o put_v several_a thing_n together_o that_o lie_v scatter_v in_o
