three_o the_o guise_n of_o this_o wrangle_a hypocrite_n lie_v here_o that_o if_o he_o be_v force_v to_o a_o serious_a consideration_n of_o his_o way_n and_o opinion_n than_o he_o will_v enter_v upon_o the_o work_n but_o it_o be_v very_o tedious_o he_o will_v pretend_v a_o fair_a hear_n and_o consult_v on_o both_o side_n but_o when_o he_o come_v home_o he_o make_v a_o secret_a conspiracy_n against_o the_o lord_n jesus_n be_v it_o not_o so_o conscience_n &_o he_o say_v i_o be_o thus_o resolve_v that_o that_o be_v true_a which_o i_o will_v have_v either_o it_o be_v so_o or_o else_o i_o will_v make_v it_o so_o therefore_o let_v we_o agree_v upon_o it_o conscience_n in_o act._n 23.15_o see_v what_o those_o wicked_a people_n say_v you_o with_o the_o council_n signify_v unto_o the_o chief_a shall_v break_v their_o own_o neck_n in_o hell_n too_o in_o act_n 4.16_o there_o be_v a_o great_a work_n do_v that_o can_v be_v deny_v but_o let_v we_o take_v heed_n that_o it_o go_v no_o further_o it_o be_v with_o these_o hypocrite_n as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n who_o though_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o truth_n shine_v upon_o they_o yet_o will_v they_o stop_v it_o and_z that_o it_o may_v get_v no_o hold_n upon_o they_o knock_v off_o the_o finger_n of_o it_o it_o be_v admirable_a to_o observe_v this_o hypocrite_n guise_n if_o there_o be_v any_o man_n that_o will_v but_o say_v any_o thing_n that_o may_v tend_v to_o his_o way_n he_o applaud_v that_o man_n and_o delight_n much_o in_o he_o and_z though_o he_o know_v no_o reason_n for_o it_o in_o his_o conscience_n yet_o he_o content_v and_o satisfy_v himself_o but_o if_o there_o be_v never_o so_o good_a argument_n to_o the_o contrary_a never_o so_o many_o reason_n that_o can_v be_v gainsay_v yet_o he_o be_v not_o satisfy_v neither_o can_v he_o be_v persuade_v by_o all_o these_o argument_n the_o reason_n be_v he_o be_v resolve_v to_o do_v whatsoever_o he_o have_v purpose_v for_o his_o honour_n and_o safety_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v be_v lawful_a that_o
he_o may_v do_v that_o which_o he_o have_v purpose_v let_v there_o be_v but_o some_o frothy_a minister_n or_o some_o foolish_a man_n or_o woman_n that_o will_v commend_v fashionablenesse_n the_o fashion-monger_n will_v hug_v he_o in_o his_o arm_n and_o say_v he_o speak_v marvellous_a wise_o to_o the_o point_n and_o very_o judicious_o though_o he_o have_v not_o one_o argument_n &_o 2.8_o but_o unto_o they_o that_o be_v contentious_a and_o do_v not_o obey_v the_o truth_n but_o obey_v unrighteousness_n not_o those_o that_o be_v contentious_a with_o their_o neighbour_n but_o against_o god_n truth_n what_o of_o they_o why_o to_o they_o shall_v be_v indignation_n and_o wrath_n such_o be_v they_o 1_o tim._n 6.4_o he_o be_v proud_a know_v nothing_o when_o a_o man_n shall_v of_o christ_n that_o man_n can_v have_v any_o sound_a evidence_n of_o god_n love_n in_o this_o bless_a work_n of_o grace_n and_o this_o i_o prove_v thus_o argument_n 2._o argument_n first_o he_o that_o will_v have_v this_o evidence_n of_o god_n love_n must_v entertain_v the_o truth_n aright_o that_o be_v in_o the_o love_n of_o it_o not_o for_o his_o own_o private_a end_n &_o aim_n not_o because_o it_o be_v profitable_a or_o honourable_a but_o because_o it_o be_v true_a and_o he_o that_o entertain_v one_o truth_n in_o the_o love_n of_o it_o will_v entertain_v every_o truth_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v reveal_v but_o this_o hypocrite_n do_v not_o entertain_v the_o truth_n in_o the_o love_n of_o it_o and_o therefore_o he_o can_v have_v any_o sound_a evidence_n of_o god_n love_n second_o never_o any_o man_n have_v as_o yet_o this_o work_n of_o true_a grace_n that_o be_v not_o yet_o come_v from_o under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n for_o no_o man_n be_v come_v from_o under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n or_o the_o dominion_n of_o satan_n that_o will_v join_v side_n with_o sin_n and_o satan_n against_o the_o truth_n but_o this_o man_n do_v join_v side_n with_o sin_n and_o satan_n against_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o be_v never_o come_v from_o under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o so_o consequent_o never_o have_v this_o work_n of_o grace_n i_o compare_v this_o wrangle_a wretch_n to_o the_o merchant_n that_o will_v trade_n with_o other_o prince_n but_o not_o submit_v to_o they_o as_o king_n so_o this_o man_n will_v trade_v with_o the_o gospel_n but_o not_o subject_v himself_o unto_o it_o and_o therefore_o he_o be_v but_o a_o hang_v by_o and_o a_o retainer_n and_o one_o that_o make_v a_o booty_n of_o the_o gospel_n thus_o much_o of_o the_o wrangle_a hypocrite_n the_o second_o sort_n be_v the_o whine_a hypocrite_n who_o will_v continue_v daily_o to_o abuse_v the_o gospel_n and_o to_o grieve_v the_o lord_n christ_n and_o he_o think_v to_o make_v up_o his_o wrong_n by_o lay_v open_a his_o sorrow_n that_o he_o have_v do_v so_o and_o thus_o he_o think_v to_o be_v friend_n with_o he_o again_o as_o it_o be_v with_o some_o servant_n who_o the_o master_n will_v neither_o let_v go_v nor_o yet_o use_v as_o a_o servant_n so_o it_o be_v with_o these_o whine_a hypocrite_n they_o have_v great_a need_n of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o willing_a to_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o it_o however_o they_o keep_v it_o in_o and_o fawn_o flatter_v it_o and_o if_o they_o come_v and_o say_v they_o be_v sorry_a for_o this_o and_o that_o than_o all_o shall_v be_v well_o and_o they_o entreat_v the_o lord_n not_o to_o take_v it_o ill_o at_o their_o hand_n they_o will_v mend_v it_o etc._n etc._n so_o that_o in_o truth_n they_o love_v not_o the_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o only_o to_o make_v gain_n of_o it_o to_o themselves_o simile_n simile_n as_o it_o be_v with_o some_o whine_a debtor_n that_o partly_o out_o of_o covetousness_n will_v not_o and_o partly_o through_o indigencie_n can_v pay_v he_o will_v come_v and_o complain_v of_o his_o hard_a pennyworth_n and_o desire_v some_o respite_n not_o that_o he_o may_v give_v content_a to_o the_o creditor_n but_o to_o himself_o so_o it_o be_v with_o this_o whine_a hypocrite_n he_o will_v ever_o be_v complain_v but_o never_o amend_v i_o speak_v not_o against_o sorrow_n and_o complain_v as_o though_o they_o shall_v be_v altogether_o quit_v of_o the_o body_n of_o death_n and_o of_o distemper_n and_o of_o their_o curse_a lust_n and_o corruption_n for_o if_o a_o man_n love_n jesus_n christ_n as_o much_o as_o ever_o any_o mortal_a man_n do_v yet_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v quit_v of_o this_o body_n of_o death_n so_o long_o as_o he_o be_v here_o but_o i_o speak_v against_o those_o that_o be_v still_o complain_v and_o vex_v themselves_o in_o the_o outward_a appearance_n who_o have_v tear_n at_o command_n because_o of_o some_o violent_a passion_n or_o for_o some_o discredit_n to_o the_o gospel_n or_o some_o disgrace_n to_o themselves_o and_o yet_o stand_v just_a at_o the_o same_o stay_n oh_o varlet_n that_o complain_v of_o his_o froward_a heart_n but_o yet_o he_o fall_v into_o passion_n upon_o every_o occasion_n and_o he_o to_o by_o his_o complaint_n think_v to_o make_v all_o whole_a again_o this_o be_v base_a false_a hypocritical_a love_n and_o not_o the_o love_n of_o the_o father_n that_o will_v enable_v a_o man_n to_o give_v content_a in_o those_o thing_n that_o he_o may_v easy_o do_v i_o can_v hire_v these_o man_n from_o their_o passion_n for_o money_n and_o scare_v they_o from_o it_o by_o the_o magistrate_n and_o shall_v a_o reward_n hire_v thou_o or_o a_o magistrate_n scare_v thou_o and_o shall_v the_o lord_n jesus_n have_v no_o power_n over_o thou_o to_o cause_v thou_o to_o do_v it_o go_v thy_o way_n thy_o heart_n be_v naught_o if_o thy_o love_n be_v sound_a it_o will_v work_v more_o than_o all_o this_o come_v to_o that_o be_v not_o love_v at_o all_o that_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v so_o much_o as_o this_o for_o jesus_n christ_n the_o like_a i_o may_v say_v of_o the_o untoward_a doggedness_n of_o some_o husband_n and_o master_n it_o be_v their_o life_n to_o fret_v and_o talk_v like_o madman_n and_o thus_o the_o cunning_a chapman_n will_v cheat_v you_o to_o day_n and_o whine_v to_o morrow_n and_o he_o think_v this_o please_v the_o lord_n jesus_n very_o well_o she_o be_v not_o account_v a_o love_a wife_n but_o a_o adulteress_n that_o when_o she_o have_v play_v the_o harlot_n
