by_o wound_v their_o conscience_n with_o the_o guilt_n of_o innocent_a blood_n so_o that_o the_o iron_n rod_n of_o god_n wrath_n will_v make_v they_o afraid_a of_o hell_n and_o torment_n will_v saint_n will_v be_v break_v in_o shiver_n even_o as_o a_o potter_n vessel_n and_o christ_n will_v give_v he_o the_o morning_n star_n this_o morning_n star_n be_v that_o daystar_n that_o do_v arise_v in_o the_o heart_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v this_o morning_n or_o daystar_n be_v that_o light_n of_o truth_n or_o light_n of_o the_o true_a god_n that_o do_v arise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o think_v it_o be_v but_o do_v not_o certain_o know_v that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o that_o to_o the_o apprehension_n of_o they_o both_o their_o name_n be_v blot_v out_o of_o the_o book_n of_o life_n for_o this_o i_o say_v that_o except_o a_o man_n have_v some_o witness_n in_o himself_o by_o voice_n from_o god_n or_o some_o secret_a revelation_n or_o by_o a_o steadfast_a faith_n in_o those_o messenger_n who_o god_n do_v send_v he_o can_v know_v that_o his_o name_n be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n but_o rather_o fear_v that_o his_o name_n be_v blot_v out_o of_o it_o so_o that_o the_o assurance_n that_o a_o man_n name_n be_v not_o blot_v out_o of_o the_o book_n of_o life_n be_v when_o a_o man_n have_v the_o witness_n in_o himself_o that_o he_o know_v the_o true_a god_n and_o do_v suffer_v persecution_n for_o the_o truth_n and_o not_o for_o a_o lie_n as_o all_o the_o world_n do_v and_o so_o he_o that_o overcome_v by_o faith_n and_o patient_a
nobility_n have_v crown_n of_o gold_n upon_o their_o headâ—_n though_o not_o so_o absolute_a crown_n of_o gold_n as_o the_o king_n himself_o yet_o they_o have_v a_o resemblance_n and_o likeness_n of_o crown_n signify_v that_o they_o be_v of_o the_o blood_n royal._n so_o be_v it_o in_o heaven_n the_o four_o and_o twenty_o elder_n be_v of_o the_o blood_n royal_a coheir_n unto_o the_o kingdom_n of_o and_o have_v always_o persecute_v and_o kill_v the_o saint_n the_o belove_a city_n of_o god_n from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n even_o from_o the_o righteous_a abel_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n i_o say_v this_o spirit_n of_o reason_n which_o be_v call_v by_o the_o spirit_n satan_n a_o devil_n this_o spirit_n who_o have_v cause_v gog_n and_o magog_n and_o all_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o persecute_v the_o saint_n this_o devil_n with_o all_o the_o seed_n who_o have_v fight_v under_o his_o banner_n though_o in_o several_a form_n and_o manner_n he_o and_o they_o with_o the_o beast_n and_o false_a prophet_n with_o all_o their_o adherent_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o a_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v torment_v for_o ever_o and_o ever_o and_o this_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n be_v that_o wrath_n of_o god_n that_o come_v down_o from_o heaven_n which_o be_v call_v by_o the_o spirit_n fire_n that_o come_v down_o from_o god_n out_o of_o heaven_n and_o devour_v they_o etc._n etc._n so_o that_o this_o chapter_n be_v but_o a_o rehearsal_n of_o what_o be_v say_v before_o in_o the_o 18_o and_o 19_o chapter_n both_o of_o the_o destruction_n of_o mystery_n babylon_n and_o of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o saint_n yet_o i_o think_v it_o something_o necessary_a to_o open_v the_o meaning_n of_o gog_n and_o magog_n because_o i_o have_v not_o meet_v with_o those_o word_n before_o neither_o have_v speak_v of_o they_o in_o that_o book_n aforesaid_a but_o as_o for_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o matter_n in_o this_o 20_o chapter_n i_o have_v say_v as_o much_o as_o need_v be_v say_v of_o it_o in_o one_o place_n or_o other_o in_o this_o treatise_n and_o in_o the_o interpretation_n of_o the_o eleven_o of_o the_o revelation_n and_o to_o repeat_v one_o thing_n twice_o over_z will_v be_v needless_a and_o as_o for_o the_o chief_a head_n contain_v in_o the_o 21_o 22_o chapter_n i_o have_v open_v they_o in_o the_o say_a this_o book_n of_o the_o revelation_n and_o to_o the_o book_n of_o the_o scripture_n so_o in_o like_a manner_n will_v god_n add_v unto_o he_o or_o they_o the_o plague_n that_o be_v write_v in_o this_o book_n now_o what_o these_o plague_n be_v they_o be_v speak_v of_o in_o this_o book_n the_o plague_n that_o shall_v be_v add_v unto_o they_o be_v spiritual_a that_o be_v to_o say_v spiritual_a darkness_n upon_o the_o mind_n here_o and_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o second_o death_n so_o that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n shall_v possess_v the_o second_o death_n which_o shall_v burn_v as_o a_o lake_n reader_n may_v see_v what_o a_o dangerous_a thing_n it_o be_v for_o a_o man_n to_o take_v upon_o he_o to_o prophesy_v preach_v or_o teach_v as_o a_o messenger_n of_o christ_n without_o a_o commission_n from_o he_o for_o who_o ever_o do_v so_o he_o do_v add_v his_o own_o vain_a thought_n and_o imagination_n in_o the_o scripture_n of_o those_o heavenly_a secret_n mystery_n and_o vision_n declare_v by_o holy_a man_n who_o be_v inspire_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o the_o revelation_n of_o faith_n to_o write_v those_o thing_n aforesaid_a yet_o man_n by_o their_o own_o imagination_n by_o the_o gift_n of_o learning_n and_o by_o the_o natural_a wisdom_n of_o reason_n will_v undertake_v to_o interpret_v scripture_n and_o to_o be_v preacher_n to_o other_o without_o a_o commission_n from_o god_n and_o without_o any_o true_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o so_o these_o man_n do_v come_v to_o add_v other_o interpretation_n of_o their_o own_o conceiving_n unto_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o mind_n of_o that_o spirit_n that_o write_v they_o and_o so_o they_o become_v capable_a to_o receive_v of_o those_o plague_n that_o be_v write_v in_o this_o book_n as_o aforesaid_a chap._n lxxxii_o also_o i_o will_v have_v the_o reader_n to_o know_v that_o the_o same_o man_n that_o do_v add_v their_o conceiving_n unto_o this_o book_n the_o same_o sort_n of_o man_n do_v take_v away_o from_o the_o word_n of_o this_o book_n of_o this_o prophecy_n they_o may_v be_v say_v to_o take_v away_o from_o it_o in_o that_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v any_o true_a interpreter_n to_o expound_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o prophecy_n of_o that_o book_n of_o the_o revelation_n or_o any_o other_o scripture_n only_o this_o some_o man_n mind_n be_v act_v out_o one_o way_n and_o some_o another_o some_o man_n so_o they_o may_v be_v suffer_v to_o speak_v their_o own_o fantasy_n upon_o the_o scripture_n so_o as_o to_o please_v themselves_o and_o their_o hearer_n that_o be_v they_o care_v not_o how_o much_o they_o add_v to_o this_o book_n not_o mind_v to_o take_v any_o thing_n from_o it_o it_o be_v not_o their_o principle_n to_o take_v any_o thing_n from_o the_o scripture_n but_o their_o delight_n be_v altogether_o to_o add_v their_o vain_a conception_n conceive_v the_o meaning_n thus_o and_o thus_o but_o he_o that_o take_v away_o from_o this_o book_n be_v such_o a_o one_o that_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o true_a interpretation_n of_o the_o scripture_n nor_o of_o this_o book_n of_o the_o revelation_n because_o the_o true_a interpretation_n of_o the_o scripture_n overthrow_v all_o the_o principle_n of_o religion_n in_o the_o world_n so_o that_o if_o truth_n shall_v be_v suffer_v to_o have_v freedom_n in_o the_o world_n than_o all_o the_o old_a principle_n of_o religion_n that_o have_v be_v receive_v in_o the_o world_n so_o many_o hundred_o year_n by_o the_o pope_n and_o other_o they_o will_v quite_o fall_v to_o the_o ground_n so_o that_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o number_n of_o man_n to_o add_v unto_o this_o book_n and_o a_o number_n of_o man_n to_o take_v away_o from_o it_o for_o true_a revelation_n always_o have_v some_o to_o add_v to_o it_o and_o some_o to_o take_v from_o it_o so_o that_o he_o that_o take_v from_o it_o god_n will_v take_v his_o part_n out_o of_o the_o book_n of_o life_n and_o out_o of_o the_o holy_a city_n and_o from_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v write_v in_o this_o book_n the_o meaning_n be_v this_o that_o as_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v no_o true_a interpretation_n of_o the_o scripture_n to_o abide_v in_o the_o world_n but_o will_v take_v it_o quite_o away_o both_o the_o interpretation_n and_o the_o interpreter_n also_o so_o in_o like_a manner_n god_n will_v take_v his_o part_n out_o of_o the_o book_n of_o life_n and_o out_o of_o the_o holy_a city_n so_o that_o he_o shall_v have_v no_o part_n in_o that_o glory_n and_o everlasting_a life_n which_o be_v write_v of_o in_o this_o book_n of_o the_o revelation_n that_o be_v he_o think_v by_o take_v away_o from_o the_o word_n of_o this_o book_n that_o be_v by_o his_o persecute_v the_o true_a interpretation_n of_o it_o that_o he_o do_v god_n good_a service_n even_o as_o he_o do_v that_o add_v to_o it_o for_o he_o that_o add_v unto_o it_o as_o aforesaid_a do_v think_v he_o do_v god_n good_a service_n so_o in_o like_a manner_n he_o that_o take_v from_o it_o as_o aforesaid_a that_o persecute_v true_a revelation_n and_o true_a interpretation_n he_o do_v think_v he_o do_v god_n good_a service_n in_o so_o do_v and_o so_o he_o think_v to_o have_v a_o part_n in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n and_o to_o be_v one_o of_o the_o member_n of_o the_o holy_a city_n and_o to_o have_v a_o right_n to_o that_o glory_n and_o happiness_n that_o be_v write_v in_o this_o book_n when_o as_o alas_o alas_o he_o be_v one_o of_o they_o that_o have_v take_v away_o from_o the_o prophecy_n of_o this_o book_n by_o persecute_v the_o true_a interpretation_n of_o it_o so_o that_o god_n have_v take_v away_o that_o part_n he_o think_v he_o have_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n and_o that_o confidence_n he_o have_v in_o be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o holy_a city_n and_o of_o the_o glory_n hereafter_o i_o say_v all_o these_o thing_n will_v god_n take_v away_o from_o those_o man_n that_o do_v take_v that_o be_v choose_v and_o send_v of_o god_n as_o moses_n and_o aaron_n peter_n and_o paul_n and_o we_o the_o witness_n of_o the_o spirit_n also_o none_o can_v interpret_v the_o scripture_n true_o but_o those_o that_o have_v the_o same_o spirit_n as_o those_o have_v that_o speak_v the_o scripture_n that_o spirit_n can_v trace_v the_o step_n of_o god_n almighty_n in_o those_o three_o path_n kingdom_n unto_o his_o choose_a one_o which_o mystery_n be_v hide_v in_o that_o letter_n so_o that_o the_o messenger_n of_o god_n they_o shall_v be_v punish_v of_o god_n if_o they_o will_v not_o go_v enable_v they_o to_o go_v through_o their_o suffering_n with_o cheerfulness_n for_o when_o a_o man_n do_v suffer_v for_o his_o faith_n in_o god_n patient_o and_o willing_o he_o destroy_v his_o enemy_n more_o in_o submit_v unto_o suffering_n or_o death_n itself_o than_o if_o he_o shall_v resist_v his_o enemy_n and_o this_o do_v become_v a_o horn_n to_o push_v the_o persecutor_n soul_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o the_o seven_o church_n of_o asia_n they_o be_v by_o their_o faith_n and_o patience_n make_v able_a to_o suffer_v persecution_n and_o death_n itself_o which_o become_v as_o seven_o horn_n to_o push_n and_o gall_v the_o soul_n of_o their_o persecutor_n for_o though_o the_o horn_n of_o a_o lamb_n do_v but_o little_a harm_n to_o the_o outward_a flesh_n yet_o when_o they_o get_v within_o the_o flesh_n they_o will_v gall_v very_o much_o that_o be_v when_o the_o horn_n of_o suffer_v for_o righteousness_n get_v into_o the_o mind_n and_o soul_n of_o the_o persecutor_n it_o do_v gall_v his_o soul_n exceed_o with_o the_o fear_n of_o eternal_a damnation_n this_o i_o think_v experience_n will_v show_v the_o truth_n of_o it_o for_o the_o quaker_n and_o other_o which_o suffer_v for_o a_o lie_n yet_o they_o think_v they_o suffer_v for_o truth_n and_o the_o persecutor_n know_v no_o other_o but_o that_o they_o do_v suffer_v for_o truth_n therefore_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o quaker_n can_v choose_v but_o push_n and_o gall_v the_o persecutor_n conscience_n the_o quaker_n be_v so_o steadfast_a and_o confident_a in_o their_o way_n which_o do_v not_o fear_v their_o life_n unto_o the_o death_n this_o suffering_n of_o they_o do_v trouble_v and_o molest_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o civil_a power_n which_o do_v show_v that_o suffering_n in_o innocency_n though_o for_o a_o lie_n it_o will_v be_v a_o horn_n to_o push_v and_o gall_v the_o soul_n of_o the_o persecutor_n then_o how_o much_o more_o will_v they_o push_v and_o gall_n if_o they_o suffer_v for_o truth_n that_o be_v if_o their_o ministry_n which_o provoke_v they_o to_o meet_v contrary_a to_o the_o parliament_n order_n be_v true_a as_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o seven_o church_n of_o asia_n be_v but_o it_o be_v not_o therefore_o they_o suffer_v for_o a_o lie_n yet_o the_o persecutor_n not_o know_v it_o he_o be_v and_o will_v be_v push_v and_o gall_v in_o his_o soul_n with_o the_o fear_n of_o eternal_a death_n they_o be_v clothe_v with_o fine_a scarlet_a with_o deceive_v the_o people_n yet_o the_o lawyer_n be_v but_o the_o sprouting_n forth_o of_o the_o unclean_a spirit_n that_o come_v out_o of_o the_o beast_n mouth_n and_o it_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o beast_n to_o clothe_v these_o lawyer_n in_o scarlet_a even_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o dragon_n do_v the_o doctor_n of_o physic_n clothe_v they_o in_o velvet_n yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v in_o their_o nature_n not_o other_o but_o frog_n send_v forth_o by_o these_o two_o spirit_n aforesaid_a to_o beast_n or_o civil_a power_n so_o that_o none_o shall_v exercise_v or_o officiate_v the_o office_n of_o a_o minister_n but_o such_o as_o the_o false_a prophet_n shall_v send_v forth_o so_o that_o those_o man_n this_o false_a prophet_n or_o chief_a priest_n do_v send_v forth_o to_o preach_v these_o be_v send_v forth_o from_o that_o unclean_a spirit_n that_o come_v out_o of_o the_o false_a prophet_n mouth_n for_o the_o false_a prophet_n have_v full_a power_n to_o ordain_v and_o send_v forth_o man_n to_o preach_v to_o deceive_v the_o people_n in_o a_o way_n of_o false_a worship_n as_o the_o dragon_n have_v to_o the_o physician_n and_o as_o the_o beast_n have_v to_o the_o lawyer_n and_o as_o the_o doctor_n of_o physic_n by_o his_o deceit_n come_v to_o be_v clothe_v in_o velvet_n and_o the_o lawyer_n by_o his_o deceit_n come_v to_o be_v clothe_v in_o scarlet_n so_o likewise_o the_o preacher_n ordain_v by_o the_o false_a prophet_n they_o come_v by_o their_o deceit_n to_o be_v eternal_a happiness_n and_o that_o his_o blood_n may_v keep_v down_o the_o reprobate_a seed_n to_o endless_a misery_n so_o that_o the_o reader_n may_v see_v what_o the_o spirit_n do_v mean_a by_o christ_n be_v clothe_v with_o a_o garment_n down_o to_o the_o foot_n and_o his_o vesture_n dip_v in_o blood_n for_o i_o think_v none_o be_v so_o ignorant_a as_o to_o think_v that_o it_o be_v any_o woollen_a or_o linen_n or_o silk_n garment_n that_o be_v dip_v in_o blood_n that_o will_v have_v be_v little_a benefit_n to_o any_o man_n but_o the_o ignorance_n of_o people_n be_v so_o great_a that_o they_o will_v think_v and_o believe_v any_o thing_n though_o never_o so_o contrary_a to_o reason_n and_o yet_o seem_v to_o be_v wise_a man_n in_o reason_n but_o the_o great_a be_v their_o darkness_n in_o spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a thing_n yet_o the_o seed_n of_o faith_n may_v see_v what_o this_o vesture_n dip_v in_o blood_n be_v and_o who_o it_o be_v that_o be_v clothe_v with_o this_o garment_n down_o to_o the_o foot_n it_o be_v no_o other_o but_o god_n himself_o as_o be_v say_v in_o the_o same_o verse_n and_o his_o name_n be_v call_v the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o there_o be_v none_o can_v
