only_a to_o put_v themselves_o into_o a_o certain_a repose_n think_v that_o perfection_n consist_v in_o this_o false_a rest_n and_o never_o to_o suffer_v any_o cross_n affliction_n or_o temptation_n no_o no_o earth_n be_v the_o place_n of_o combat_n christian_a life_n be_v the_o death_n of_o man_n perfect_a love_n like_o the_o phoenix_n seek_v death_n and_o find_v life_n in_o the_o same_o flame_n humble_v himself_o see_v god_n do_v not_o manifest_v himself_o but_o to_o the_o humble_a of_o spirit_n and_o that_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n bear_v his_o cross_n in_o humility_n hence_o we_o learn_v that_o it_o be_v necessary_a we_o esteem_v the_o cross_n and_o suffering_n and_o embrace_v they_o with_o joy_n and_o fervour_n of_o spirit_n but_o we_o must_v further_o observe_v that_o suffering_n subversion_n loss_n and_o humiliation_n and_o other_o misfortune_n of_o humane_a life_n be_v necessary_a to_o a_o christian_a to_o keep_v he_o steadfast_a amid_o the_o deceit_n and_o blandishment_n of_o the_o world_n the_o subtlety_n and_o surprise_v of_o the_o devil_n by_o these_o way_n which_o we_o call_v rigorous_a god_n sever_v we_o from_o the_o world_n and_o take_v we_o from_o kindness_n to_o the_o creature_n he_o make_v use_v of_o these_o loss_n and_o subversion_n as_o of_o gall_n and_o bitterness_n to_o mingle_v with_o the_o sweet_n that_o the_o creature_n
