of_o that_o reason_n that_o be_v now_o corrupt_v by_o sin_n we_o have_v a_o most_o elegant_a expression_n of_o these_o earthly_a thing_n and_o earthly_a mind_a man_n have_v their_o heart_n set_v upon_o these_o thing_n it_o be_v in_o the_o 6._o to_o the_o gal._n 12._o verse_n as_o many_o as_o desire_v to_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n in_o the_o flesh_n say_v the_o scripture_n the_o word_n be_v therefore_o it_o be_v that_o their_o heart_n be_v upon_o they_o they_o be_v here_o enemy_n to_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n they_o think_v suffer_v for_o christ_n poverty_n disgrace_n look_v but_o untoward_o but_o now_o those_o that_o desire_v to_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n in_o the_o flesh_n that_o will_v have_v their_o countenance_n well_o wash_v
righteous_a we_o shall_v observe_v the_o way_n of_o good_a man_n &_o keep_v the_o path_n of_o the_o righteous_a it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o example_n of_o the_o best_a man_n though_o never_o so_o holy_a be_v not_o a_o sufficient_a rule_n for_o any_o action_n if_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n do_v any_o thing_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o good_a mere_o upon_o the_o example_n of_o another_o man_n rule_n but_o yet_o thus_o far_o example_n of_o man_n that_o be_v holy_a shall_v prevail_v with_o we_o first_o they_o shall_v prevail_v with_o we_o more_o than_o other_o example_n than_o example_n of_o there_o be_v that_o follow_v it_o now_o do_v but_o observe_v what_o manner_n of_o person_n do_v worship_n god_n in_o that_o way_n which_o some_o call_v heresy_n be_v they_o not_o of_o holy_a and_o blameless_a conversation_n according_a to_o the_o gospel_n the_o strict_a puritan_n now_o though_o you_o must_v not_o do_v as_o they_o do_v mere_o from_o their_o example_n yet_o their_o example_n shall_v have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o power_n and_o influence_n upon_o you_o to_o take_v off_o prejudices_fw-la and_o answer_v accusation_n and_o to_o calm_v and_o sweeten_v your_o angry_a and_o inquire_v after_o these_o way_n let_v i_o examine_v they_o by_o the_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n sure_o there_o be_v some_o probability_n that_o these_o way_n be_v the_o very_a path_n of_o zion_n and_o lead_v to_o the_o gate_n of_o heaven_n because_o the_o professor_n of_o they_o be_v such_o friend_n of_o jesus_n christ_n it_o be_v likely_a that_o these_o man_n shall_v know_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n that_o do_v converse_v with_o god_n most_o that_o lie_v in_o his_o bosom_n as_o the_o belove_a disciple_n in_o christ_n be_v it_o not_o more_o likely_a that_o a_o man_n that_o be_v a_o familiar_a friend_n and_o converse_v daily_o with_o such_o a_o one_o that_o this_o man_n shall_v know_v his_o secret_n his_o will_n rather_o than_o a_o stranger_n so_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n be_v stranger_n to_o god_n but_o only_o the_o saint_n they_o converse_v with_o god_n they_o be_v the_o man_n of_o his_o counsel_n and_o his_o heart_n and_o therefore_o of_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n it_o be_v most_o likely_a that_o they_o shall_v have_v all_o the_o will_n of_o god_n reveal_v unto_o they_o all_o learning_n and_o natural_a wisdom_n can_v show_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n so_o much_o as_o converse_v with_o god_n and_o a_o holy_a humble_a familiarity_n with_o he_o god_n love_v to_o open_v his_o bosom_n to_o his_o hidden_a one_o to_o reveal_v his_o mind_n to_o they_o and_o therefore_o when_o we_o see_v man_n that_o be_v godly_a who_o conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n that_o they_o walk_v in_o such_o and_o such_o way_n it_o shall_v make_v we_o to_o think_v it_o be_v like_o there_o be_v more_o good_a in_o these_o way_n than_o i_o be_o aware_a of_o at_o the_o present_a it_o be_v like_a that_o such_o man_n as_o god_n smile_v upon_o that_o they_o shall_v know_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n more_o than_o other_o man_n therefore_o though_o i_o will_v not_o present_o conclude_v it_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n and_o do_v it_o mere_o because_o they_o do_v it_o yet_o i_o will_v examine_v and_o search_v whether_o it_o be_v not_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n or_o no_o according_a to_o the_o scripture_n four_o the_o example_n of_o godly_a man_n shall_v prevail_v thus_o far_o to_o make_v we_o to_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o do_v not_o oppose_v those_o way_n except_o we_o have_v very_o clear_a ground_n to_o the_o contrary_a then_o we_o may_v oppose_v they_o as_o paul_n by_o hear-say_n they_o hear_v minister_n speak_v of_o heaven_n and_o read_v it_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o they_o know_v it_o in_o themselves_o they_o know_v it_o by_o what_o god_n have_v reveal_v in_o their_o own_o heart_n yea_o though_o tâ—â—â—â—_n be_v no_o book_n that_o ever_o they_o shall_v see_v more_o though_o they_o be_v not_o book-learned_a and_o though_o they_o can_v read_v a_o letter_n in_o the_o book_n though_o they_o shall_v hear_v no_o more_o sermon_n yet_o by_o what_o be_v reveal_v in_o themselves_o they_o know_v in_o themselves_o that_o they_o have_v a_o more_o better_a and_o endure_a substance_n that_o be_v a_o truth_n but_o the_o word_n may_v be_v more_o proper_a to_o the_o original_n read_v thus_o kowing_n that_o you_o have_v heaven_n in_o yourselves_o a_o better_a and_o endure_v substance_n eternal_a life_n be_v begin_v already_o in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n there_o be_v heaven_n already_o in_o the_o saint_n and_o therefore_o no_o marvel_n though_o their_o conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n the_o four_o reason_n god_n have_v so_o order_v thing_n in_o this_o world_n on_o purpose_n that_o he_o may_v wean_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n from_o the_o world_n the_o lord_n love_v to_o have_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o saint_n to_o be_v in_o heaven_n where_o he_o have_v treasure_v up_o such_o glorious_a thing_n for_o they_o and_o because_o that_o the_o saint_n while_o they_o be_v here_o in_o the_o world_n &_o have_v so_o much_o of_o the_o world_n in_o they_o they_o will_v feign_v be_v live_v here_o in_o the_o world_n therefore_o god_n be_v the_o reason_n why_o god_n people_n have_v meet_v with_o such_o cross_n in_o the_o world_n why_o the_o lord_n have_v keep_v his_o saint_n so_o low_a and_o mean_a in_o the_o world_n it_o may_v withal_o and_o those_o cross_n that_o befall_v you_o in_o this_o world_n and_o thus_o we_o have_v go_v through_o the_o doctrinal_a point_n of_o the_o saint_n have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n chap._n x._o we_o have_v treat_v long_o upon_o that_o point_n of_o a_o heavenly_a conversation_n and_o have_v open_v to_o you_o what_o that_o heavenly_a conversation_n be_v wherein_o it_o consist_v in_o many_o particular_n but_o now_o we_o shall_v proceed_v to_o the_o application_n of_o al._n though_o as_o i_o have_v go_v along_o i_o have_v endeavour_v not_o only_o to_o speak_v to_o there_o be_v curse_v and_o rail_v and_o malice_n and_o wrath_n and_o pride_n so_o that_o though_o they_o be_v here_o in_o this_o world_n yet_o they_o manifest_v to_o what_o place_n they_o do_v belong_v so_o that_o as_o the_o saint_n have_v their_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n when_o they_o die_v they_o go_v to_o their_o own_o place_n that_o be_v to_o heaven_n where_o their_o conversation_n be_v so_o on_o the_o contrary_a the_o wicked_a have_v their_o conversation_n in_o hell_n when_o they_o die_v they_o go_v to_o their_o own_o place_n as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o judas_n he_o go_v to_o his_o own_o place_n so_o a_o wicked_a man_n die_v have_v his_o conversation_n in_o hell_n while_o he_o live_v i_o say_v when_o he_o die_v he_o go_v to_o his_o own_o place_n that_o be_v his_o own_o seed_n of_o abraham_n but_o they_o be_v not_o as_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n but_o as_o meteor_n that_o be_v between_o heaven_n and_o earth_n we_o call_v they_o blaze_a star_n but_o they_o be_v not_o so_o bright_a as_o the_o star_n nor_o be_v they_o of_o such_o a_o heavenly_a nature_n as_o the_o star_n they_o be_v but_o make_v of_o a_o few_o unclean_a vapour_n that_o come_v out_o of_o the_o earth_n which_o be_v get_v up_o near_o the_o heaven_n do_v make_v a_o show_n as_o if_o they_o be_v some_o star_n in_o heaven_n but_o you_o find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difference_n between_o the_o star_n and_o they_o in_o this_o for_o within_o a_o little_a while_o they_o fall_v and_o vanish_v and_o come_v to_o nothing_o and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o hypocrite_n they_o by_o the_o word_n be_v raise_v up_o a_o little_a for_o the_o present_a and_o seem_v to_o be_v above_o the_o star_n and_o they_o have_v a_o glitter_a show_n as_o if_o they_o have_v something_o heavenly_a in_o they_o even_o like_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n they_o seem_v to_o be_v get_v above_o other_o your_o blaze_a star_n a_o child_n will_v think_v it_o a_o great_a deal_n big_a than_o one_o of_o the_o star_n that_o be_v a_o hundred_o time_n big_a than_o that_o be_v so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o hypocrite_n they_o have_v a_o great_a show_n of_o religion_n than_o many_o that_o have_v truth_n of_o godliness_n it_o will_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o convince_v other_o of_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o wale_n of_o god_n when_o they_o shall_v see_v christian_n walk_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n thus_o say_v the_o on_o high_a too_o though_o they_o look_v not_o upon_o themselves_o as_o worthy_a of_o the_o least_o crumb_n of_o bread_n yet_o they_o look_v upon_o themselves_o again_o as_o too_o good_a to_o be_v vassal_n to_o the_o world_n or_o to_o their_o lust_n and_o they_o look_v upon_o themselves_o as_o be_v set_v by_o god_n in_o too_o a_o high_a condition_n to_o be_v satisfy_v with_o all_o the_o world_n to_o be_v their_o portion_n their_o heart_n be_v lift_v up_o on_o high_a to_o converse_v with_o the_o most_o high_a god_n and_o so_o they_o come_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o snare_n of_o death_n that_o be_v below_o yea_o and_o also_o they_o endeavour_v to_o walk_v as_o christ_n walk_v as_o in_o the_o 1_o epist_n of_o john_n 2._o 6._o they_o walk_v as_o christ_n himself_o walk_v those_o that_o than_o thou_o be_v aware_a of_o thou_o can_v have_v no_o communion_n with_o god_n while_o thou_o be_v in_o any_o way_n of_o sin_n especial_o if_o it_o be_v against_o light_n the_o least_o sin_n that_o be_v that_o a_o christian_n give_v way_n unto_o be_v like_o a_o thorn_n in_o a_o man_n foot_n but_o a_o great_a sin_n &_o a_o sin_n against_o knowledge_n be_v like_o a_o great_a gash_n in_o a_o man_n foot_n now_o if_o a_o man_n have_v but_o a_o thorn_n in_o his_o foot_n he_o can_v walk_v well_o it_o will_v make_v he_o halt_v if_o a_o man_n have_v but_o a_o little_a gravel_n get_v into_o his_o shoe_n he_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o walk_v along_o he_o may_v walk_v a_o step_n or_o two_o but_o not_o very_o long_o now_o small_a sin_n be_v like_o gravil_n in_o the_o shoe_n or_o like_o a_o thorn_n get_v into_o the_o foot_n but_o if_o thou_o fall_v into_o a_o great_a sin_n a_o sin_n against_o light_n against_o conscience_n oh_o that_o be_v like_o a_o great_a gash_n that_o one_o may_v cut_v with_o a_o hatchet_n or_o a_o axe_n if_o a_o man_n have_v cut_v a_o great_a gash_n in_o his_o foot_n he_o will_v hardly_o be_v able_a to_o walk_v with_o comfort_n even_o so_o it_o be_v when_o thou_o fall_v into_o any_o great_a sin_n thou_o have_v need_v then_o go_v to_o the_o chyriurgeon_n thou_o have_v need_v then_o have_v salve_v apply_v to_o thou_o to_o heal_v thy_o soul_n or_o otherwise_o it_o will_v hinder_v thou_o in_o thy_o walk_n with_o god_n the_o second_o rule_n or_o direction_n second_o labour_n to_o abstract_n thy_o heart_n from_o earthly_a and_o sensual_a thing_n must_v be_v spiritual_a in_o thy_o converse_n with_o he_o take_v heed_n of_o mingle_v thy_o heart_n with_o creature_n comfort_n thou_o may_v make_v use_n of_o they_o but_o in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n do_v not_o defile_v thy_o heart_n with_o they_o let_v not_o thy_o heart_n close_o with_o they_o as_o adequat_fw-la object_n of_o thy_o desire_n or_o of_o thy_o love_n take_v heed_n of_o be_v entangle_v of_o be_v ensnare_v with_o any_o creature_n comfort_n a_o man_n can_v walk_v if_o he_o have_v get_v into_o a_o snare_n when_o man_n fetter_v themselves_o in_o the_o world_n and_o entangle_v themselves_o with_o abundance_n of_o business_n &_o creature_n contentment_n it_o do_v mighty_o hinder_v their_o freedom_n in_o walk_v with_o god_n when_o man_n heart_n sink_v down_o to_o the_o creature_n they_o can_v walk_v with_o god_n for_o god_n be_v above_o he_o be_v on_o high_a and_o the_o way_n of_o the_o wise_a be_v on_o high_a and_o we_o must_v keep_v ourselves_o on_o high_a if_o so_o be_v that_o christian_n have_v sometime_o some_o good_a affection_n their_o heart_n be_v a_o little_a stir_v up_o to_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a but_o at_o other_o time_n their_o heart_n sink_v down_o to_o the_o world_n and_o to_o sensual_a and_o earthly_a contentment_n they_o can_v walk_v free_o with_o god_n they_o can_v but_o halt_a at_o the_o best_a as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v one_o leg_n short_a than_o the_o other_o he_o can_v walk_v even_o but_o he_o hault_v as_o he_o go_v so_o when_o our_o affection_n be_v up_o and_o down_o sometime_o they_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o sometime_o down_o to_o the_o world_n again_o yea_o perhaps_o at_o the_o same_o time_n when_o we_o have_v some_o truth_n heave_v we_o upward_o and_o yet_o a_o drossy_a spirit_n to_o sink_v we_o downward_o this_o will_v be_v but_o halt_v our_o affection_n must_v go_v even_o must_v not_o be_v for_o heaven_n and_o earth_n together_o except_o it_o be_v in_o subordination_n one_o to_o the_o other_o and_o so_o while_o we_o be_v on_o the_o earth_n we_o be_v in_o heaven_n if_o we_o keep_v our_o heart_n in_o a_o subordination_n to_o spiritual_a thing_n when_o we_o be_v busy_v about_o earthly_a then_o be_v a_o man_n heart_n spiritual_a and_o separate_v from_o the_o earth_n when_o he_o know_v how_o to_o have_v comfort_n in_o god_n alone_o when_o he_o know_v how_o to_o make_v up_o
