preparation_n nor_o utter_a word_n without_o deuâ—â—on_n and_o affection_n nor_o without_o some_o assurance_n and_o persuasion_n that_o god_n will_v hear_v and_o grant_v his_o request_n yea_o he_o most_o take_v noâ—ice_n of_o his_o enlargement_n in_o prayer_n and_o of_o the_o success_n afterwards_o and_o be_v according_o thankful_a or_o humble_v not_o that_o he_o measure_v god_n hear_v his_o suit_n by_o his_o present_a answer_n or_o his_o present_a answer_n by_o his_o own_o sense_n he_o will_v pray_v at_o least_o in_o some_o poor_a measure_n at_o all_o time_n strive_v against_o deadness_n of_o spirit_n and_o distraction_n as_o a_o heavy_a burden_n 2._o he_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o attention_n mind_n observe_v and_o remember_v it_o careful_o receive_v and_o apply_v whatsoever_o precept_n or_o promise_n be_v speak_v out_o of_o the_o word_n as_o speak_v by_o god_n to_o himself_o in_o particular_a be_v astonish_v at_o the_o â—eepnesse_n of_o god_n wisdom_n power_n and_o hide_a thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o to_o see_v truth_n from_o error_n good_a from_o evil_n together_o with_o his_o own_o wretched_a nesle_n by_o sin_n and_o the_o riches_n of_o god_n free_a grace_n and_o mercy_n in_o christ_n towards_o his_o own_o soul_n he_o be_v not_o ignorant_a of_o the_o principle_n of_o religion_n as_o most_o age_a people_n be_v but_o be_v able_a and_o ready_a to_o give_v a_o reason_n of_o the_o hope_n that_o be_v in_o he_o 4._o he_o love_v and_o long_v after_o a_o powerful_a and_o search_a ministry_n above_o all_o earthly_a treasure_n as_o find_v a_o great_a necessity_n of_o spiritual_a then_o corporal_a food_n and_o therefore_o will_v take_v any_o pain_n or_o be_v at_o any_o cost_n or_o suffer_v any_o disgrace_n to_o enjoy_v it_o 5._o he_o be_v never_o offend_v at_o any_o wholesome_a truth_n be_v it_o never_o so_o untoothsome_a but_o affect_v that_o ministry_n most_o which_o most_o lay_v open_a and_o rebuke_n his_o own_o sin_n even_o therefore_o come_v to_o the_o light_n that_o his_o deed_n may_v be_v make_v manifest_a when_o he_o hear_v his_o own_o sin_n speak_v against_o he_o do_v not_o apply_v the_o same_o unto_o other_o as_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o too_o many_o nor_o be_v he_o wise_a to_o defend_v the_o evil_a he_o do_v but_o love_v to_o be_v admonish_v nor_o will_v he_o after_o warning_n and_o conviction_n from_o the_o word_n go_v hear_v not_o we_o hereby_o know_v we_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o error_n ver._n 5_o 6._o 7._o he_o will_v not_o plead_v against_o god_n nor_o ask_v a_o reason_n of_o his_o action_n if_o he_o meet_v with_o hard_a scripture_n he_o run_v not_o into_o error_n not_o be_v offend_v but_o suspend_v his_o judgement_n and_o blame_v his_o own_o blindness_n you_o may_v know_v he_o from_o a_o unbeliever_n by_o this_o he_o be_v wise_a to_o defend_v the_o truth_n when_o he_o hear_v it_o speak_v against_o but_o never_o argue_v against_o it_o whereas_o the_o unbeliever_n be_v prompt_v by_o satan_n can_v most_o subtle_o argue_v against_o the_o truth_n though_o he_o have_v not_o a_o word_n to_o speak_v for_o it_o yea_o he_o think_v it_o religion_n enough_o if_o he_o can_v but_o dispute_v against_o the_o religious_a which_o be_v a_o manifest_a sign_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n brief_o he_o neither_o carp_v nor_o fret_n against_o a_o faithful_a minister_n nor_o seek_v to_o entrap_v he_o or_o pervert_v what_o he_o deliver_v but_o pray_v for_o he_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o speak_v in_o his_o defence_n 8._o he_o have_v a_o high_a estimation_n of_o the_o minister_n and_o mean_n by_o which_o he_o be_v convert_v and_o find_v more_o sweetness_n in_o the_o gospel_n then_o in_o any_o thing_n else_o in_o the_o world_n 9_o spiritual_a judgement_n as_o a_o famine_n of_o the_o word_n the_o blindness_n of_o man_n mind_n hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n etc._n etc._n he_o account_v more_o woeful_a than_o any_o judgement_n the_o world_n can_v be_v sensible_a of_o 10._o he_o be_v not_o of_o a_o reprobate_a judgement_n in_o think_v good_a evil_n and_o evil_a good_a neither_o have_v he_o a_o base_a esteem_n of_o god_n people_n and_o their_o way_n as_o it_o fare_v with_o our_o scoff_a adversary_n who_o look_v upon_o zeal_n and_o holiness_n with_o the_o devil_n spectacle_n nor_o so_o far_o from_o be_v holy_a himself_o that_o he_o hate_v holiness_n in_o other_o or_o be_v so_o far_o from_o take_v offence_n when_o none_o be_v give_v that_o he_o will_v not_o be_v offend_v when_o offence_n come_v as_o at_o the_o scandalous_a life_n of_o professor_n or_o at_o the_o multitude_n of_o heresy_n that_o be_v daily_o broach_v though_o they_o grieve_v his_o very_a soul_n but_o when_o strange_a thing_n happen_v he_o make_v a_o wholesome_a construction_n thereof_o chap._n but_o counterfeit_v 3._o he_o believe_v impartial_o the_o whole_a word_n of_o god_n threat_n and_o precept_n as_o well_o as_o promise_n and_o thing_n above_o the_o reach_n of_o reason_n as_o well_o as_o what_o experience_n have_v make_v plain_a to_o he_o he_o feel_v the_o power_n and_o efficacy_n of_o god_n word_n and_o spirit_n persuade_v his_o conscience_n that_o his_o sin_n be_v pardon_v in_o favour_n with_o god_n so_o that_o he_o can_v true_o apply_v christ_n and_o all_o his_o benefit_n and_o promise_n unto_o his_o own_o soul_n trust_v in_o he_o and_o cast_v himself_o only_o upon_o he_o for_o pardon_n and_o salvation_n 4._o he_o have_v a_o sweet_a and_o sanctify_a peace_n in_o his_o conscience_n arise_v from_o the_o assure_a forgivenâ—sse_n of_o his_o sin_n a_o sound_n and_o strong_a such_o joy_n unspeakable_a that_o be_v make_v he_o rejoice_v even_o in_o tribulation_n 5._o he_o sometime_o lose_v the_o efficacy_n feel_v and_o comfort_n of_o faith_n but_o the_o seed_n and_o habit_n gracious_a progress_n in_o true_a holiness_n 7._o he_o be_v perfect_o justify_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n free_v from_o the_o rigour_n of_o the_o law_n and_o in_o some_o good_a measure_n from_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n be_v often_o in_o combat_n between_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o spirit_n but_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o end_n ever_o get_v the_o upper_a hand_n chap._n vi_o 1._o and_o as_o he_o believe_v in_o his_o heart_n so_o he_o be_v not_o ashamed_a of_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n but_o will_v profess_v the_o truth_n bold_o in_o all_o estate_n and_o in_o time_n of_o suffering_n and_o publish_v what_o christ_n have_v do_v for_o his_o soul_n to_o god_n glory_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o other_o yea_o if_o call_v to_o it_o he_o will_v god_n assist_v he_o lie_v down_o his_o life_n for_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n and_o rejoice_v also_o that_o he_o be_v count_v worthy_a 2._o neither_o be_v he_o high-minded_a but_o more_o fear_v the_o want_n of_o grace_n
