shine_v at_o noonday_n to_o believe_v the_o same_o man_n to_o lie_v dead_a in_o his_o grave_n who_o they_o see_v alive_a walk_v before_o they_o for_o at_o this_o rate_n all_o our_o saviour_n miracle_n have_v be_v wrought_v in_o vain_a if_o man_n must_v not_o believe_v their_o own_o eye_n as_o we_o use_v to_o say_v for_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o almighty_a god_n have_v so_o frame_v our_o nature_n that_o we_o be_v to_o be_v direct_v and_o guide_v by_o our_o sense_n in_o those_o matter_n that_o proper_o belong_v to_o they_o nor_o can_v we_o i_o think_v in_o this_o present_a state_n take_v this_o way_n to_o give_v assurance_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o gospel_n and_o of_o his_o resurrection_n by_o that_o satisfaction_n he_o give_v to_o the_o very_a sense_n of_o men._n thus_o present_a case_n and_o how_o then_o can_v i_o be_v sure_a that_o any_o revelation_n be_v ever_o make_v from_o god_n to_o man_n or_o how_o can_v any_o man_n be_v sure_a of_o it_o though_o a_o voice_n come_v to_o he_o from_o heaven_n or_o a_o vision_n appear_v to_o he_o all_o this_o may_v be_v but_o idle_a fancy_n and_o delusion_n his_o hear_v and_o his_o sight_n be_v not_o to_o be_v trust_v yea_o it_o in_o the_o latter_a why_o may_v he_o not_o in_o the_o former_a also_o l._n they_o may_v say_v this_o be_v a_o particular_a case_n and_o therefore_o though_o our_o sense_n may_v herein_o be_v very_o common_a among_o they_o viz._n their_o lie_a legend_n compose_v by_o lazy_a monk_n full_a of_o such_o ridiculous_a story_n and_o gross_a falsehood_n that_o they_o be_v now_o ashamed_a to_o have_v they_o see_v among_o protestant_n l._n he_o compare_v the_o scripture_n to_o a_o father_n testament_n but_o sure_o it_o be_v a_o odd_a way_n to_o make_v the_o son_n understand_v his_o father_n will_n by_o wrest_v it_o out_o of_o his_o hand_n and_o put_v he_o off_o with_o other_o write_n instead_o of_o it_o t._n a_o odd_a way_n it_o be_v indeed_o and_o give_v just_a cause_n to_o suspect_v have_v be_v with_o some_o whole_a nation_n and_o particular_o our_o own_o for_o we_o grant_v that_o in_o these_o latter_a age_n our_o people_n be_v general_o infect_v with_o those_o error_n though_o from_o the_o beginning_n it_o be_v not_o so_o and_o as_o to_o luther_n and_o calvin_n though_o they_o do_v great_a service_n for_o the_o reform_n of_o the_o church_n in_o their_o own_o country_n yet_o neither_o they_o nor_o any_o presbyterian_o be_v the_o chief_a instrument_n of_o that_o work_n among_o we_o but_o holy_a bishop_n and_o many_o sound_n and_o orthodox_n preacher_n ordain_v by_o they_o who_o teach_v the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n and_o seal_v with_o their_o blood_n the_o truth_n of_o what_o they_o teach_v these_o man_n by_o their_o zealous_a preach_v their_o holy_a live_n and_o cheerful_a die_a after_o the_o example_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o other_o martyr_n in_o the_o primitive_a time_n do_v by_o god_n blessing_n win_v over_o thousand_o to_o embrace_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o its_o native_a purity_n reject_v those_o popish_a error_n in_o which_o before_o they_o have_v be_v blind_o train_v up_o wherefore_o he_o may_v as_o well_o say_v that_o the_o apostle_n never_o convert_v any_o from_o heathenism_n to_o christianity_n as_o that_o our_o minister_n have_v never_o reform_v any_o from_o popery_n what_o then_o can_v he_o mean_v i_o his_o holy_a supper_n here_o than_o you_o have_v a_o plain_a instance_n of_o their_o practise_v contrary_a to_o the_o scripture_n in_o so_o weighty_a a_o matter_n as_o the_o administer_a the_o holy_a have_v hear_v do_v grant_v that_o if_o there_o be_v no_o such_o change_n make_v by_o consecration_n this_o worship_n will_v be_v idolatrous_a and_o therefore_o we_o be_v upon_o good_a ground_n assure_v that_o no_o such_o change_n there_o be_v do_v utter_o abhor_v the_o very_a thought_n of_o such_o idolatrous_a worship_n and_o do_v believe_v ourselves_o bind_v in_o conscience_n to_o almighty_a god_n to_o undergo_v a_o thousand_o death_n rather_o than_o be_v guilty_a of_o it_o yea_o though_o we_o live_v in_o popish_a country_n but_o beside_o this_o we_o here_o in_o england_n owe_v talk_v that_o they_o who_o go_v from_o their_o church_n can_v give_v no_o reason_n why_o they_o shall_v rather_o turn_v to_o luther_n than_o to_o the_o calvinist_n etc._n etc._n it_o concern_v not_o we_o in_o the_o least_o who_o neither_o turn_n to_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o but_o continue_v in_o communion_n with_o our_o own_o church_n in_o which_o we_o be_v baptise_a and_o live_v in_o obedience_n to_o our_o own_o ruler_n in_o church_n and_o state_n who_o god_n have_v set_v over_o we_o nor_o do_v i_o discern_v by_o what_o reason_n he_o make_v this_o silly_a inference_n nor_o yet_o for_o what_o purpose_n but_o let_v i_o hear_v his_o next_o argument_n l._n it_o can_v be_v prove_v that_o ever_o at_o any_o time_n be_v admit_v any_o priest_n that_o be_v not_o first_o due_o consecrate_v by_o bishop_n wherefore_o we_o right_o infer_v that_o all_o lutheran_n minister_n calvinist_n or_o any_o other_o sect_n not_o consecrate_a according_a to_o the_o old_a custom_n of_o the_o bishop_n and_o therefore_o have_v as_o full_a authority_n for_o the_o exercise_n of_o their_o ministerial_a function_n as_o those_o of_o any_o christian_a church_n in_o the_o world_n some_o other_o reform_a church_n also_o do_v embrace_v episcopal_a government_n as_o for_o such_o who_o want_v it_o we_o shall_v not_o enter_v into_o a_o dispute_n concern_v the_o validity_n of_o their_o order_n but_o this_o i_o think_v we_o may_v safe_o assert_v that_o if_o the_o people_n be_v due_o qualify_v for_o the_o lord_n supper_n as_o st._n paul_n himself_o call_v it_o 1_o cor._n 11._o 20._o by_o a_o firm_a belief_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o sincere_a love_n and_o obedience_n to_o our_o bless_a saviour_n they_o shall_v not_o want_v the_o benefit_n that_o be_v promise_v to_o worthy_a communicant_n through_o any_o defect_n or_o irregularity_n in_o the_o ordination_n of_o their_o minister_n and_o if_o they_o do_v true_o repent_v of_o their_o sin_n and_o forsake_v they_o they_o shall_v for_o christ_n sake_n obtain_v forgiveness_n from_o god_n though_o never_o any_o priest_n shall_v give_v they_o absolution_n but_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n our_o writer_n have_v show_v that_o according_a to_o the_o common_a principle_n receive_v in_o the_o romish_a church_n that_o the_o truth_n of_o sacrament_n depend_v upon_o the_o intention_n of_o the_o priest_n the_o people_n can_v be_v certain_a at_o any_o time_n that_o they_o have_v true_a sacrament_n no_o nor_o whether_o he_o be_v a_o true_a priest_n that_o administer_v they_o but_o i_o shall_v trouble_v you_o with_o nothing_o more_o on_o that_o there_o be_v any_o other_o tradition_n of_o equal_a necessity_n to_o salvation_n which_o be_v not_o contain_v in_o these_o holy_a scripture_n 2_o note_v well_o that_o though_o the_o church_n of_o god_n have_v be_v a_o most_o faithful_a preserver_n of_o these_o holy_a scripture_n and_o have_v careful_o transmit_v they_o from_o one_o generation_n to_o another_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o the_o heretic_n and_o schismatic_n themselves_o and_o even_o heathen_n and_o infidel_n who_o write_v against_o the_o christian_a religion_n have_v own_a these_o book_n to_o be_v write_v by_o those_o and_o we_o will_v own_v that_o the_o sum_n of_o our_o faith_n be_v bring_v down_o by_o tradition_n viz._n in_o the_o very_a form_n of_o baptise_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o father_n son_n and_o the_o church_n be_v great_a duty_n yet_o these_o will_v not_o excuse_v our_o disobedience_n to_o any_o of_o christ_n law_n who_o be_v the_o king_n of_o king_n and_o head_n of_o the_o church_n what_o
